Basically, all you can eat chips and salsa with other free add ons such as lemon, cabbage. Service was simple and easy (order at the counter and food gets delivered at your table). Place is very small so not recommended for a large party (9 people or more) due to limited tables/chairs, and space inside. They do have a small outside area that you can eat, but, it's also small! What I didn't like- Got carnitas, instead! There is really no service besides you ordering, so everything else is up to you to get. The cooked meats including the barbacoa, carnitas and tripas have always been top notch. The liquid beans have always sucked especially on my last visit. If you wanted to make a bean taco GOOD LUCK. They are open again. Not as good as before. We waited in the drive thru for over 30 minutes. We ordered 3 sausage egg tacos (over filled not much flavor), Dozen pork tamales (seemed alright), and chicken enchilada Verde (white chicken very dry, no flavor, no sauce, and way too much cheese). Oh we tried to order puffy tacos (waited this whole time for puffy tacos again), offered crispy tacos....but then told us they don't have any crispy tacos or puffy tacos. Let me start by saying that I placed call in order that was ready when I arrived. Someone comes outside to take orders. I give my info, but I'm still in the drive through. Here's the problem I had to wait in the drive through for 20-30 minutes. Why have a call in if you don't have curb side pickup!? The food, the potato and egg taco was good. My experience with Culebra Cafe was less than I was originally expecting - I intended to get a full lunch there, but due to a misunderstanding at the drive-thru, I ended up only scoring one taco. It was a barbacoa taco - after all, the sign in front gives the barbacoa top billing. The barbacoa was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and they added some only slightly-cooked vegetables, providing some nice and unexpected contrast for the soft pork. I didn't care for how much fat ended up in my taco - it left a puddle in the aluminum foil in which my taco was wrapped. Still tasted good, though. The salsa that they gave me with the meal seemed to consist of nothing but tomatillos and jalapenos, resulting in a salsa that was very thin and needlessly spicy. Roasting the tomatillos would have eliminated much of the water, and thickened the final product. read more

Maybe I'm different than most, I don't go to a restaurant with expectations of what things should be like. When I go some place new I go in with an open mind and just wait for things to happen. I'm there for an experience. Despite the rundown appearance of the drive-thru sign and speaker, I thought this place was very charming. Rather than order off the menu, I simply asked the woman at the window what she liked. I knew I wanted a relatively small lunch and I knew I wanted tacos. I ended up leaving with two carne asada tacos with the grilled onions and peppers as well as a third taco. I'm not sure what the third taco was, but I know it was a cubed type steak with gravy. All three tacos were made with fresh flour tortillas and each came with its own side of hot sauce. The tacos seemed moderately filled with meat, but lacked vegetables. After two tacos, I could have been content. I wasn't full, but I was satisfied. The tacos were great though. They were flavorful, fresh, and still sizzling hot! I could hardly hold my composure while eating them in my truck. I wanted to shove the third one down my throat as fast as the first two, but I calmly savored it instead. Overall: I will be going back! I do like veggies in my tacos, but meat-filled fresh flour tortillas will have to suffice. I won't be going alone next time either, I'm bring my wife. We ordered 3 pounds all meat barbacoa and 2 dozen tamales. I went to another local Mexican restaurant for the flour tortillas since we had issues (taking forever) for an order of 3 dozen tortillas. My daughter goes inside pays for the order and instead of the counter person letting her know she still had to wait, she asks for the next paying customer. So my daughter asks her how much longer she says about 10 more minutes, no apologies, nada, zip. She brings the food home, finally!! I am now rushing to get me husbands tacos ready so he can scarf them down since he has a few minutes to go before he leaves for work. The barbacoa was swimming in grease, you could not squeeze out the grease there was so much. BTW, I love barbacoa. This was so greasy, we literally rolled it around in paper towels and it was still super greasy. The tamales have the potential to be good at $10.99 a dozen. Flavorful but thin. puny or barely there. have eaten there a few times...never had a bad experience until this morning... i would give it HALF A STAR....NOT even ONE STAR....the waitress was rude....and argumentive.... i will NEVER go there again.....she gave us the menu right away and brought the coffee in 5 minutes..... that was okay...then another 3 minutes to come back for the order.......once we ordered it took them 15 minutes to get a plate of huevos rancheros.......and another 3 minutes to bring the tortillas that go with that plate....... i had to ask for the chips and for more coffee..... i did NOT leave a tip.....i can NOT tip for bad rude service.... i didnt argue with her because i am beyond that point...but hopefully she''ll realize when she doesnt see a tip..... the restaurant only has a few tables....maybe 5 or 6..... ... turn around time on the food / tables was awful.......
