Banana pudding kit
Lilly G.

I came here expecting the most amazing banana pudding and I can honestly say it did not disappoint!! I ordered a medium, however, the small is actually the perfect size to satisfy anyone's sweet tooth and not over indulge. Although I was laser focused on having the banana pudding there are many other deserts to try. The place is small but clean and the line was long but it moves fast. Super friendly staff, I would definitely come back to have more banana pudding and try other deserts!

Stopped by while visiting nearby landmarks and had to try the famous banana pudding everyone talks about and It absolutely lived up to the hype. Super good and easily the highlight. There's also a huge selection of pastries and desserts to choose from, so plenty of options if you want to try more than one thing. The line/process can be a little confusing at first since people are walking in from all directions. Just a heads up: you grab your items at the counter and then wrap around to the checkout area. The staff felt a bit quick and "to the point" but that's pretty typical for the NYC pace, so no big deal. Overall, definitely a must stop spot if you're in the area and want to try their banana pudding.

Stopped by on the way to breakfast. Tried the banana pudding which I thought was delicious. The red velvet cake was super dry and hard. I could've used it in a snowball fight . The dough it muffins was really good and they allow you to sample. The Custer service is also good.

Oof love banana pudding, but Magnolia over the years has gotten way too sweet with not enough real banana! We also tried the banana pudding bar with the red velvet flavor and there wasn't bananas in it :(

I came back to visit Magnolia Bakery on a Saturday afternoon. Whenever I come into this location, I usually have to wait a while to get into Magnolia Bakery. However, I walked right in and didn't have to wait too long to get helped this time. Usually, the staff you see when you walk in only help with bakery and beverage items and you have to go to the cashier to get banana pudding, but the staff said they could help with everything. January's pudding of the month is Hot Chocolate Banana Pudding (small was $6.25). Hot Chocolate Banana Pudding Cup has layers of chocolate banana pudding, rich chocolate wafers, bananas, marshmallow fluff, and a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips for the perfect bite every time. My husband really enjoyed it. Of course, you have to get the Classic Banana Pudding as well. The medium was $7.25. I always get their Chocolate Chunk Blondie ($4.25) and Magic Cookie Bar ($3.95). They are both delicious, golden, buttery, and delightful treats. Magnolia Bakery Is New York's Local Bakery and you should definitely visit when you are in NYC.

Recommended by my hotel. Was hesitant to try the .lBanana Pudding being that I'm a southern girl. It did not dissapoint.

Yeah this was some of the worst BP I've ever had. And I know BP ball. No flavor, just felt like I was eating whipped cream. Also the small cup was only filled up halfway, there's a giant hole of air underneath the top layer, literally a lays chip bag. The wafers were hard and stiff and hurt the roof of my mouth. I get it, there's hella people in line, but this is just sad. No love and joy in this pudding.

To many old-school New Yorkers, they may not have been inside of a "Magnolia Bakery" let alone heard of it. But this wildly popular baked goods/dessert shop has been around since 1996. From what started as a single business in the West Village neighborhood of New York City (on Bleeker St/W. 11th St) has rabidly expanded to roughly 9 other locations (in the NYC area) as well as Los Angeles, Chicago and even internationally. Their business even appeared on the hit TV show, "Sex & The City" as this popularized the entire cupcake craving before it became a thing. The location I am focusing on is one of their busiest in all of NYC, at the corner of 6th Ave & W 49th St in the heart of Lower Manhattan. What makes this location convenient is the close proximity from the Rockefeller Center and the adjacent subway station that is just steps away. However, convenience can draw an insane amount of customers and that is exactly what I experienced. I came with my lady during the afternoon on Sunday 10/12/2025 at around 3:45pm. It was a cool, rainy day and the line had about 20+ guests waiting to get enjoy a yummy dessert. They do have very generous hours of operation being open for business 7 days a week from 8am-10pm. As for the interior layout of this place, it is quite small yet very practical. Furthermore, if you are looking to enjoy your savory treat inside, that won't happen since they do not offer any tables. So plan on taking your food to go. Once inside, you will see several large display cases that feature their selection of cakes, cookies, cheesecakes, cupcakes, brownies, and their #1 most popular and requested item, their "Banana Pudding". This was the only item we ordered as we had dinner plans later that day. After making the trek to nearby Rockefeller Center to enjoy this savory treat, I finally got to try their famous Banana Pudding. The overall consistency had a soft, doughy texture while the banana itself offered a sweeter taste to it. What really bumped this pudding up a notch was the graham cracker crumbles that made every bite quite delicious. They have many other offerings of their puddings available in pumpkin (during the fall months), apple, and red velvet. They also sell their Just the Crumb treats as well as a DIY Pudding Kit. If you're a fan of sweets, definitely check out "Magnolia Bakery" as I was pleasantly surprised. With above average customer service, excellent desserts, decent prices, and a great novelty idea, I am giving this place four stars.

Good! But nothing to rave about Was waiting for some Adel's right across the street and a few of us decided to grab dessert to help us with the wait. On this particular evening, there was no wait! We basically walked right up to order. We decided to try a Banana Pudding and an Apple Crisp Pudding Cup. Both were good! The banana pudding had a nice flavor and I liked the crumbs. I found it a bit sweet and I think a salty element (like a salted caramel ribbon?) would've elevated the flavor. I slightly preferred the Apple Crisp Pudding cuz the acidity from the apples helped cut the sweet a bit. Overall, standard dessert that was good but didn't particularly wow me.

I'm showing my BFF around New York City. I had to take them to my favorite place for a cupcake. Besides the architecture of the building. It really does stand out among the crowd and more ways than one. It is a treasure to watch all the staff and all the employees in training WORKING SOOO HARD and delivering all the sweetness they have. I saw my beautiful cupcake and I had to get it and my BFF. Got a cookie and some pudding. Everything is made fresh and the presentation is so lovely. We picked up our items and then brought it to the cashier. It was very kind and helpful Miss Brielle. I've been here 1 million times and I'm really surprised I didn't write anything about it before. It is a wonderful little bakery. There's no chance of eating your item inside... But you can go to 30 rock or even go to Central Park with your goodies and enjoy the Metropolitian atmosphere with your beautiful treat like I did. I really am a big fan of this business. Delicious and beautiful every time. I really love coming for the holidays to see the special decorations that they have. They have a unique design around the holidays, especially!

If you can see Radio City Music Hall the you're almost there!

If you go back far enough in Yelp reviews, I'm sure you'll see another review(s) from me with must higher ratings. But now I have to say, "Mid!" When did this place go so down hill? Hopefully it hasn't and y'all can set me straight. I go to Magnolia every time we're in NY (about once a year). And I only go to Magnolia with one purpose - the Banana Pudding. I feel so many other places make amazing bakery goods but the banana pudding is the item that sets them apart and reminds me of my southern roots. This time the banana pudding was lacking both of those - bananas and pudding! It was basically Nila wafers with whipped cream (and of course more cream than wafers). Bananas are cheap so I don't know why those were lacking, and I'm only assuming that they don't homemake their pudding (and the internet confirmed) and those boxes (especially in bulk) are super cheap ... so what gives! So disappointing! I'm sure this area (Rockefeller) and shop will continue to be a tourist spot. I'll be curious to see if others have a better pudding experience. If not, I'll need a different sweet treat when I visit next year!

Magnolia is famous for their banana pudding which is unparalleled. I've been here a couple times in the past two months and it's an easy interaction, order, get the goods, pay and leave. No lingering, no seats inside or outside, completely utilitarian which I kinda love. The employees are just there to dish out the goods and then you pay them. As long as you go in knowing how they operate, you'll be golden. Grab one here and carry on the plane if you can't finish!

Rating: 3.4/5 We finally tried the famous Banana Pudding from Magnolia Bakery, and honestly, it felt a bit overhyped. We ordered a small cup ($5.95), which seemed pricey for just 4 ounces. The pudding is layered with vanilla wafers, fresh bananas, and creamy vanilla pudding. Compared to other banana puddings I've had, this one was denser and heavier rather than light and airy. Nothing really stood out to me, so I don't quite get why it's considered "world famous." I wouldn't wait in line for it, but if you're nearby and there's little to no wait, it's worth trying once.

There was a bit of a line, but it moved pretty quickly. I am boring, so I just ordered the plain vanilla cupcake, but it was just perfect. It was fresh and the cake itself was wonderful. We had a big party--everyone was happy, but particularly happy with the cookie dough and red velvet. Definitely worth a visit.

So there is a lot to unpack from my visit to SoHo to pick up a cake from my sister. I woke up at…read more5pm and headed straight here from Queens and chose this place over 4 others close by in the area. I hadn't been here in years so when I pulled up I took a step back to take it all in, the cutesy interior which was clean and not too brightly lit. I checked out the cake prices and flavors and when I was sure of what I wanted I stepped up to the counter and began to take pictures bc there were like 4 attendants and I waited for one to engage with me. A young man did he said are you ready to order I said yes and told him I wanted a strawberry shortcake slice $10 and a Brooklyn black out slice (also $10 and the actual reason I came). When he was boxing I took pictures and thought oh maybe I should switch to the hostess slice (out loud). Another attendant said sure, but then the first one pulled up with the boxes and I was like ok I'll just get a cupcake separate. Why I walk back to the cupcakes to choose and the young man starts helping someone new and I look him in the eye he then rushes over but again starts taking another customer. They were 3 customers in the store in total including me so why he didn't want to provide me service I do not know. But it made me so upset I was like wow am I really gonna spend this much money and this guy is being rude. I had to now get in line behind the 2 other patrons that came in after me. The attendant who rung me up tried to empathize and offered me a free $1 candle- it came from a cup of candle in front of the register and when he placed it on top of the box it rolled onto the counter and I said how many ppl touched that?? It's going in a cake someone is going to eat. I declined the candle, paid and probably will never return. Strawberry shortcake slice was a 6/10 tasted old Hostess cupcake 10/10 I inhaled it no crumbs Brooklyn blackout cake 15/10 moist, thick chocolate perfect. Now I'll tell you right now the birthday cake I got my sister was worth the $25 and change I paid for it. She liked it, I liked it, it made her happy- but the service made me frown I really didn't like it. Total rating 3.5

Okay I was cracking up about my experience here because I literally asked the dumbest question to…read morethe guy working but he was so nice and explained the answer to me until I understood! So fun fact they are now advertising Banana Pudding Hot Chocolate and it is NOT actual hot chocolate but banana pudding made to taste like hot chocolate. Why I got so confused? I don't know! Maybe I have been watching too many videos about Tyra Banks Hot Ice Cream. Either way I appreciate the guys patience and kindness when explaining it to me twice especially because I did not end up ordering that at all (though it sounds interesting) but I did get the regular actual hot chocolate and it was amazing! It tasted like melted marshmallows were in it! Perfect for a cold winter day. In addition we got to the humming bird cake, a cupcake, and the regular banana pudding. My husband had never been here before so you know we had to get the banana pudding, it's their claim to fame. And it is decent. Growing up in North Carolina banana pudding is taken very seriously and is literally at every gathering. Would this be a contender for the cookout? Sure! I have no complaints about. The other baked items were delicious as well. The store is cute unfortunately this location has no indoor seating but plenty of outdoor. It was like negative degrees when we went so we definitely did not sit outside. All and all it's a cute bakery/ sweets shop. There are many locations through out the city. I've been to others and it is consistent. It's definitely not a bad dessert spot to try.

Another employee, Kirk--an older gentleman who looked completely out of place--approached and coughed directly over the slice of cake that had just been cut for me. Yes. Over it. At that moment, I honestly wondered if it was intentional. A young woman nearby immediately caught my reaction and went to the back to replace the slice. She handled the situation professionally and deserves recognition. Unfortunately, the chaos continued. Kirk later made me a hot cocoa, and when I went to drink it, it spilled on me because the lid wasn't secured properly. At that point, I stopped believing in coincidences. And the cake? The German chocolate cake was terrible--dry AF and nothing like the Grand Central location. Not even remotely close. Between the coughing, the spill, and the subpar cake, this visit was uncomfortable, messy, and disappointing. Magnolia should seriously reconsider who they put on the floor and retrain accordingly--because this location is not living up to the brand. But honestly, I believe the 2 guys had to be the owners. I love a good watch but rolex's while serving Desserts is WILD

While the presentation was 10/10 across the board, the flavors ranged from "nostalgic perfection" to "a bit of a letdown." Devil Dog (The Winner): This was by far my favorite. It was a trip down memory lane, perfectly capturing that nostalgic Hostess chocolate cupcake flavor I loved as a kid. Lemon Raspberry Meringue: Coming in a close second, this cupcake was bright, fruity, and incredibly fresh. It felt light and offered a great balance to the richer flavors in the box. Ube: This cupcake was stunning to look at. However, the flavor didn't quite live up to the exotic profile of a purple yam; it tasted like a traditional vanilla cupcake that just happened to be purple. Great for the aesthetic, but standard in taste. Hummingbird: This was the only real disappointment. I was expecting the signature tropical punch of pineapple, but it lacked that acidity. Instead, it felt more like a simple banana nut muffin with icing on top. Final Verdict: Overall, the experience was positive. The shop clearly has a talent for decor and nostalgia. I'd definitely return for the Devil Dog and the Lemon Raspberry, but I might skip the Hummingbird next time. Last Note: The woman working in the bakery was a bit rude and had an attitude and that alone will make me not com back no matter how good the cupcakes are.
