Love, love, love Magic Morning! I have been coming here my whole life to indulge in the tasty donuts and iconic red smiley cookies. I have never had any complaints here.

Magic Morning is a hometown gem of Bedford, Indiana!!! If you want breakfast or anything sweet, there is only one place in Lawrence County that everyone goes + that is Magic Morning Bakery. Known for their Smiley Face Cookies (sugar cookies with pink icing and a white smiley face), everything they make + serve is out of this world!!! Every doughnut you can think of cookies on cookies, chocolates, pies, cakes and one and on. My favorite of them all is the apple fritter which is the picture I am attaching to the review, when I get more pictures, I will be updating this review. I have been coming here for years and plan to eat these delicious goodies for many more.

Something about eating a home town staple! Magic Morning's baked goods was apart of some of the best memories I've had while growing up in Bedford. Growing up, the Smily Face cookie was my academic notification for a "job well done". I couldn't let today pass without having one! With each bite, I slid further into my childhood memories and feelings of joy. Life is full of little pleasures, and I'm just one of the lucky few that had a Magic Morning Bakery in their childhood. The service as always is AMAZING! Ambiance welcoming as always! Magic Morning is truly a gem.

The Best Bakery around. A little on the high side, but then again, you get what you pay for.

This place is delicious however I am very disappointed with the service…read more My fiancé and I booked them for our wedding months in advance. 2.5 months before the wedding we reached out to see if we could meet up to just go over and finalize it all before the wedding. They had recently moved and we were told that they lost the book with our order. They still had the picture of the cake we wanted but no information on numbers of cupcakes, cake balls, or flavors. Mind you we only found out because we reached out to them... Okay crap happens so I asked if we could meet up again and go over and offered have a date that worked with our schedules because my fiancé only has one weekend off a month. I explained that and said that I didn't remember the flavors we had decided on and would like to meet anyway. The owner read the message and never replied. After talking to my fiancé we decided that we would go a different direction with our wedding and I sent another message to let them know that and told them I hoped they had a great week. Again, they read the message and didn't reply. You cannot comment on fb to leave a review so that's why I'm doing it here. The treats are delicious but the lack of response and communication of this mistake has really turned me off from them and I won't be going back. Now 2.5 months before our wedding we are working to book someone else. I know it'll all work out but still it's an inconvenience and the fact that we haven't heard anything else from the shop is a huge disappointment.

It was spacious and there's a ton of cozy seating options, each still with a little side table, as well as several standard tables. I love that in a coffee shop. I ordered a vanilla latte and a bagel and my mom got a smoothie. All the baked goods looked delicious. While we enjoyed our visit, there were a few things that would have made it better. I didn't see the seasonal menu until after I ordered, because it seemed way of to the side. I wasn't given a plate or napkin for my bagel and it was a little hard to get someone's attention to ask where to find napkins (up by the register). It would've been great if they'd asked whether we wanted our items for here or to go. The restroom was out of toilet tissue, and when I tried to tell a staff member, they were wearing headphones so they couldn't hear me. I had to go find another to let them know. Some of the seating was quite messy and wasn't cleaned up in the amount of time we were there.

Really liked it. I believe it's mostly, if not all, vegan. I know they were experimenting with some…read moreitems with dairy a while ago but I did not notice any non-vegan items while I was there, so not sure if that's still a thing. Anyway, it is a little out of the way. It's walkable from downtown but not really in the downtown core. Pretty quiet when I was there, but the atmosphere felt approachable. Some of the chairs were like school desk chairs (adult-sized, of course) that I haven't seen since I was in primary school which was kind of funny. The guy at the counter was cheerful and friendly. They looked like they had run out of some of the hot savory items by Saturday mid-afternoon, but there was still a wide variety of sweets. I believe the current owners are Indian, and you see some of those flavours featured. I got: Samosa handpie: Good, not mind-blowing, but good. Nice flavours. If you like a flaky crust, this is not it, but I liked the rustic pastry crust. Pistachio cardamom donut: Loved it. Before I moved to Bloomington, there were a few bakeries that offered vegan-GF cake donuts that I loved, and this was the first thing I've gotten here that reminded me of that. Pleasant texture and strong cardamom flavour, not too sweet. I think these are baked donuts, so they're a little different from regular fried donuts, but in a good way IMO. Rose dream latte: Milk with rose syrup topped with coconut whip and nuts, no espresso. Tasted great, but more of a dessert drink than I was expecting. The coconut whip was quite thick. The concept could probably use some refinement, because the whip was too thick and rigid to drink without a straw, but the nut pieces were too big to go through a straw, and so I couldn't figure out the best way to drink it. From what I understand, there are some longtime fans of this place who feel like the quality has dropped since the most recent change in ownership, but as someone who had never been here before, I really had a good experience. I get why people would be upset when something changes, but if you are considering trying this place for the first time, I wouldn't be too put off by the negativity around the change in ownership. There's no other place specialized in vegan baking in Bloomington, so I think it's good to support what they are continuing to do here, and even though I am partial to vegan food I wouldn't say that if it wasn't also GOOD. They also had some refreshingly unique options for baked goods.

The owners, a Sikh family, gave us their cardamom donut for free. The samosa hand pies were out. I would rate it 4/5. The decor was nice, and the owners were friendly. We were told that the staff is limited, and the owners themselves are thinking of selling this location and hoping to restart it in Greenwood, where they currently live and actually drive down to Bloomington every day. The matcha latte was fine. Everything was fine but not great. The vegan chocolate chip cookie was good, but could've used more chocolate chips.

Their coffee is good but average, I wish it was a little stronger. The energizers are a nice addition to the menu, the tropical one was a nice flavor. The service could be much better. Employees seem to hate their jobs and are not very friendly to be honest. The mini donuts are whats giving this place a 4 star from me

So here we go.... This was my first time at The Mix. This is a fairly new establishment in Mitchell. It may have been opened for a year but not much longer. This place is going to be a smash hit! The building itself has been renovated and is very clean. The display is adequate to show off the baked goods made in the bakery. I got an oatmeal raisin cookie, a chocolate peanut butter cupcake, a cookie butter cupcake, a brownie, and a breakfast bar. I also got two lemonades but will take about them in a bit. I LOVE cupcakes. They are one of my weaknesses. The cupcakes were moist and scrumptious! The icing was sweet but not overbearing. Just the right amount of touch's of ingredients. The cookies were simply amazing! Large, soft, and chewy just like my great-grandma made. I have yet to eat the brownie. My wife says they are simply the best...and my wife loves brownies. The big surprise to my was my lemonade. I got a pineapple frozen lemonade. OMG...this was the bomb! Refreshing and just so good! The Mix will soon be a hot spot for tourists and visitors to the Mitchell area. If you are in the area stop by and say Hi to Sarah...Tell her Grissom sent you. You won't be disappointed in this place. Five stars and two thumbs up! I will be back with a follow up review on my next visit just to ensure things don't slip.
