The donuts are so delicious and reasonably priced. I also ordered a large caramel macchiato latte and it was even better than SB coffee!

One of the best places in Salem is this place. Best donuts I've ever had. And the brownies are sooooo good. The coffee is standard. Nothing crazy special. They could stand to get a better roast. Employees are very sweet and kind. Great place to hang out. Tons of seating. read more

Was in Salem for the Ford dealership and recall someone talking about this donut place so I decided to give it a shot. I bought a chocolate stick and a Carmel stick as well, but will be devouring those in the morning and will update this review. Worth the 45 minute or so drive from Louisville to at least try once! read more

H & R Bakery - Dozen donut holes - Bakeries Near Me - Salem, Indiana

This bakery came highly recommended by family and friends. They do have an amazing display of donuts, which are very delicious. I've enjoyed their peppermint Mocha and their white chocolate raspberry mocha. The staff is very friendly and seems to know what they are doing with coffee. I was able to use their wifi, table and chairs to set up a makeshift office for a couple of days. They were very kind about it. If you find yourself in Salem, IN and need a coffee or donut ... be sure to stop by and support this great little place. read more

I love coming here more and more. Long John's are delicious, cakes are extra moist and flavorful with the pure white cake being my personal favorite. Cupcakes, cookies or brownies are very tasty!!! Coffee is fresh and seasonal flavors are showing up. Love stopping here on the Salem town square. Lots of cute shops along the square too to walk off some donut calories. read more

Can never go wrong with H&R Bakery. I remember stopping in the early morning in thier old location and after visiting their new place I am blown away. The fudge iced donut is always a hit for me! read more

Better then Dunkin'! Love the deserts and drinks the have there! The doughnuts are so soft and fresh! Not to mention delicious! And the staff are always so sweet! The atmosphere was very friendly but also soft and quiet, I'm surprised why this place has so few customers every time I go there, maybe it's just bad timing... Overall this place has the best doughnuts I've ever had and anyone with a different opinion can fight me.. Extra love the little train model! I could chase the thing for ages! read more

I love the cinnamon twists!! They are fluffy, crispy, and soooooooooo good . I also love the flavored raspberry tea -KM

10/10. This bakery exceeds all expectations. I drive 45 minutes for this places donuts. That's how you know they are good!

Love this place! Especially the doughnut holes! Nice friendly people too! Love the square.

We've been a big fan of H&R for few years and we love their doughnuts! I especially love their new space just right next to the original spot. It's spacious, lots of tables and nice furnitures! The kids really love the model train that goes 1round when you put a quarter in the small machine. The only thing is that they don't have loose leaf tea for tea options and to re-steep the leaves. Other than that they're amazing overall. read more

Got an apple fritter and it was excellent. Fluffy and not greasy like others I have tried recently. My kid had a fudge iced donut with sprinkles, when asked to rate the donut he said 500, 000 stars. read more

Outstanding blueberry glaze iced donut!! I'd eat 100 of them. The Bakery was recommended by a friend and didn't disappoint.

The BEST donuts! Nothing is bad. Donuts, brownies, cookies, etc. are all wonderful. If there are visitors in town, this is where I take them. read more

I always have to make a stop when in Salem. Open long hours. Good assortment of coffees & drinks also.

Best bakery items around. A favorite of the Cincinnati Reds, former IU Basketball Coach Tom Crean and all others from every walk of life. Stop in and get a bag of Heaven. Don't even ask the calorie or carb count. Just be prepared to work it off. Donuts and cookies and all kinds of other goodies. The price has escalated. In 1982, a dozen donuts was $2-$3. A dozen donut holes was .25. Now its 4 times that. But the new car I kitty is a big improvement over the small shop that existed for years. You can come in and sit and enjoy a coffee and a snack. read more

In LOVE with their donut holes. They are best served with chocolate milk! Be aware of their hours on the weekend though! Have drove a half hour to get donuts and didn't realize they were closed!! read more

H & R Bakery - Bakeries Near Me - Salem, Indiana

Great little small-town bakery right down the street from the Washington County Courthouse. I was in town for work, and had some time to kill, and stumbled across this tiny bakery. For a small town, this place sure was bustling at 8a.m.! I tried one of the cream-filled chocolate iced donuts for 80 cents. It was delicious and clearly homemade. The iced latte I opted for, on the other hand, was bitter, tasted as though the espresso was approximately 6 years old, and I could barely choke down half of it. The regulars who stopped in after me all ordered regular coffees - perhaps that is the way to go. Even though my order was only $3.00, they were kind enough to accept my credit card as payment. Would highly recommend donuts, and the other treats in the dessert cases looked delicious (and were super-affordably priced) as well. Stay away from the espresso beverages, however - hlech. read more

Without a doubt the best place for donuts, brownies, cookies you'll find. A gem within southern Indiana & a local treasure within Salem. Highly recommend If you are passing through or live in the area! Don't forget to get some to go! read more

H & R has the best, fresh made donuts! My personal fave is the Chocolate Creme Long John. Very friendly staff! And like it that they're open 24 hours a day (except Mondays). I'd give 10 stars if possible! read more

The cookies here are dangerously good. I could get about anything here and be pleased with it. The scenery here is also incredible.

This place is a gem in our community. The glazed donuts went through a change several years ago. They used to be dark in color with so much more icing. Those donuts were, by far, the best anywhere. I think they changed their oil. However, their donuts are still the best anywhere. So fresh and tasty. My favorite is the apple fritter. My goodness, those are the best I've ever had. Their coffee is good and their steamers are fantastic! If you are in Salem, you have to visit H&R. 24 hrs, but closed on Sunday and Monday. read more

Delicious donuts and hot chocolate and coffee. No cake donuts which are normally my go to, but the long Johns were amazing! I only wish they had a table or two so we didn't have to eat on the go. read more

I tried an assortment of about twelve donuts here and they were all delectable. The dough was soft and lightly sweetened and the fillings and frostings were all unique and sweet. The cashier was pleasant and patient even though there were quite a few people in there taking their time ordering. They also accept credit cards with no minimum purchase requirement or additional fees. read more

This is by far the best doughnut you will eat! They are soft and yeasty flavorful. It is perfectly sweet without being too sweet to taste the doughnut itself. Fantastic prices and great service. Don't miss the cookies and especially the apple fritters! They keep well and warm in the microwave. A 3 day old H & R doughnut warmed is still far better tasting than a big chain store doughnut that has so much less flavor. I just drove 45 minutes to pick up 8 dozen for church choir in the morning! read more

The very best bakery I have ever used. I haven't had anything i wasn't impressed with...

Great pastries & donuts home-made on-site! Try the apple fritters - when they just come out of the oven they are truly wonderful. The donuts are fresh and the service is super friendly! A real gem! read more
