There were many patrons going in and out with bags of donuts when I arrived early morning. I needed a treat to take to an event and, of course, I found out last minute. The shop is pristine and simple. The cases were filled with amazing donuts, cookies and cakes. There was so much to chose from. Those cream pies were incredibly tempting. I opted for a tray of turtle brownies. The brownies were smothered in caramel and nuts. The chocolate brownies was the consistency of a rich fudge. Needless to say, the brownies disappeared fast, so fast that I didn't have a chance to get a photo. The service was quick and friendly and I was off in a flash. Prices are incredibly reasonable. I plan on trying those iconic cookies on my next visit. I highly, recommend.

I'll give them credit for being fresh-fried and having a good dough flavor. The apple fritter was particularly good, with nice big chunks of apple. However, I found some of the donuts (especially the glazed) to be too soft, and many donuts had so much sweetness in the dough that it was overwhelming when taken together with the glaze. They definitely deserve their reputation and their regular crowd, but I don't think I'd make a special trip from Bloomington.

Rose dream latte: Milk with rose syrup topped with coconut whip and nuts, no espresso. Tasted great, but more of a dessert drink than I was expecting. The coconut whip was quite thick. The concept could probably use some refinement, because the whip was too thick and rigid to drink without a straw, but the nut pieces were too big to go through a straw, and so I couldn't figure out the best way to drink it. From what I understand, there are some longtime fans of this place who feel like the quality has dropped since the most recent change in ownership, but as someone who had never been here before, I really had a good experience. I get why people would be upset when something changes, but if you are considering trying this place for the first time, I wouldn't be too put off by the negativity around the change in ownership. There's no other place specialized in vegan baking in Bloomington, so I think it's good to support what they are continuing to do here, and even though I am partial to vegan food I wouldn't say that if it wasn't also GOOD. They also had some refreshingly unique options for baked goods.

We were told that the staff is limited, and the owners themselves are thinking of selling this location and hoping to restart it in Greenwood, where they currently live and actually drive down to Bloomington every day. I got a mini donut and got the option to fill with coconut cream or raspberry. I should have said one of both, but I got the coconut cream and it was a great bite. So here we go.... This was my first time at The Mix. This is a fairly new establishment in Mitchell. It may have been opened for a year but not much longer. This place is going to be a smash hit! I got an oatmeal raisin cookie, a chocolate peanut butter cupcake, a cookie butter cupcake, a brownie, and a breakfast bar. I also got two lemonades but will take about them in a bit. I LOVE cupcakes. They are one of my weaknesses. The cupcakes were moist and scrumptious! The icing was sweet but not overbearing. Just the right amount of touch's of ingredients. The cookies were simply amazing! Large, soft, and chewy just like my great-grandma made. I have yet to eat the brownie. My wife says they are simply the best...and my wife loves brownies.
