It pays to be flexible!! Dave showed up got straight to work. Removed old fan/light combo installed my new fan/light with remote control. (It's a plus!! ) In less than an hour!! My tall son had to help him hold the fan up in place to screw in. Some jobs need extra hands, no problem. Dave also replaced the broken fan blade in my living room, no charge!! Pros: Knowledgeable and very reasonable. Came with a can-do attitude. Cons: Not an issue with me, I had to clean up area. Just mentioning time and cleaning just in case someone expects more!! For me I am 100% satisfied. Especially when another company quoted me $700 to install the fan. Ridiculously shameful! Would I use Handiman Dave again.. All I have to say is, "You get what you pay for." I'm being fair with 3 stars because he definitely did the job he was hired to do, but at the same time, with his experience, he didn't consider or suggest making the installation water tight. I do remember him commenting that there was caulking all throughout the outside wall around the AC unit. He said that was overkill and it wasn't necessary. The AC unit that was removed was bigger than the new one, so the hole left was quite big. It was good while I didn't live in the condo while I had work done, as well as it not raining as much since it was Summer. but then a few weeks ago, my wife and I started to notice water damage to our laminate flooring, which appeared to spread from the AC as the source. Top it off, a neighbor above had a fast leaking AC unit, which was also dripping water into this hole. After having hired another handyman to fix the job just this past Friday, this new handyman confirmed that the hole that was left open allowed rain to penetrate into the open section to the left of the AC, which allowed for water to pool and build up in the wall, which eventually spread beneath the floor. Quite disappointing, as anyone could imagine since now I have to hire a contractor to find flooring that will match my existing floors, rip out my newly installed expensive baseboards and the damaged flooring to fix everything because I wanted to save about $150.. I'm not in anyway trying to deter anyone from hiring Dave. I'm sure he is competent, but just think for yourself at times and question what is right and wrong. Especially if you see that something is done or set up a certain way in your home, make sure you have him fully inspect and determine if shortcuts are okay.

They were able to come and inspect the work within a short notice and provided us with an on-site estimate. Everything seemed satisfactory until I was informed that the estimate would include a yearly fee for any future work. This fee would automatically provide us with a built-in discount for subsequent services. This was the first indication that something was amiss. Why would I want to pay an annual fee for work that had already been completed? Another peculiar aspect of their pricing was the flat rate fixed price for each item. They offered a similar approach to car repairs, where a flat rate is charged for parts like a quarter panel or hood. For an outlet in a switch, they had a flat fixed rate. They assured us that this included labor and materials. However, they failed to mention that they sourced the cheapest possible materials. They also stated that I could purchase the materials myself, but I lacked the time to do so. Consequently, I ended up having cheap switches, even though the price seemed exorbitant in my opinion. Given the urgency of the project, I had no choice but to agree. However, this is when the problems began. The project was initially promised to be completed in a day and a half or two at the most. Surprisingly, it took four days to complete the work. They arrived at the site by midday every day and proceeded to shop for materials for that day. Essentially, they had four half-day workdays. The workmanship was rated a 4.5 out of 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. The finish work was quite disappointing. They made numerous holes and neglected to save the drywall pieces to fit them back in, leaving me with a mess of mismatched drywall. They claimed they didn't typically put it back, but they didn't inform me of this when I agreed to hire them. To make matters worse, when I tried to reach the office staff or another representative they initially mistook me for a salesperson or someone trying to hassle me until I proved my identity as a customer. This was quite frustrating. It seemed like they prioritized their profits over my satisfaction. The phone representative kept talking and refused to listen. I don't believe he knew how to listen effectively. Fortunately, I received a call from the owner one day. He was quite pleasant, but it was evident that he has a personnel issue. I would never hired this company again and would never recommend them to anyone. On top of the shoddy work and unethical behavior, they attempted to double-charge me for my services. I noticed a second charge for a similar amount on my credit card, and initially, they denied it. I insisted they investigate the matter, as I had sent them a screenshot of my credit card. Eventually, they admitted to the mistake reversed the charges. Neither the owner nor the project manager called to apologize. In my opinion, their work, ethics, and overall business practices are extremely sloppy, unfriendly to customers, and unprofessional.

Excellent Service When We Needed It Most!…read more Sparky and Sons came to our rescue just 30 minutes after I called them, the morning after Hurricane Lala came through! I was dealing with an electrical crisis, and they were able to come out right away when so many people were understandably dealing with storm-related problems. As it turned out, the biggest issues were because HECO had not yet restored our full power. Even so, Sparky and Sons provided a safe temporary fix to get us through. They were knowledgeable, thorough, professional, and, best of all, genuinely pleasant to deal with. Communication was fast and they kept in touch via text and calls to keep me updated on arrival times, costs and even reminders the night before the repairs were being done. Lance initially came out and diagnosed the issues and provided a very reasonable quote for repairs. It took about a week for the parts to come in and he repaired the broken electric burner and the dryer within an hour.
