True story...I woke up one morning; my laptop did not. First lesson learned --- BACK UP, BACK UP, BACK UP your data!!!! Second lesson learned (for the second time) the guys at Magic Data Recovery are truly awesome! Disclaimer - they are not literal magicians, so they couldn't recover all my data. But, they are honest and dedicated, and to me - integrity is everything. Mike & team - listening to what is most important to me - built me a new laptop, one that I'm confident will last for years - and were able to save my last backup (which sadly was a few months old - but that is totally my bad - so backup, backup, backup!!!). And, my new laptop is FAR BETTER in so many ways than my old. What I loved most is that I asked Mike what he would do if he were in my shoes, and his honesty and compassion is amazing. I could go on and on - but instead of oversharing, let me just say, that I hope you never need these guys, but if you're ever in need of "data MAGIC", these guys are your SUPERHEROES!!!! read more

I think I found my go to store in case of necessities. Definitely recommend it read more

Our laptop crashed a few weeks ago so we found Magic Data Recovery based on their goods reviews. I didn't bother to read the bad reviews because we were so desperate to save our family pictures, but I should have... My wife brought the laptop in and she said that he promised that we could recover our pictures in 24 hours. 2 days pass, no word, so I call them and the person on the phone was extremely rude and defensive. Long story short, we picked or laptop up and brought it to Platinum Plus Service in Glendale where they were friendly and most importantly. We have our pictures back. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. read more

I was given a really high quote to replace my MacBook screen. I went elsewhere and got it fixed for less than half the price and they did not even need to replace the whole screen. The main reason that I'm leaving a bad review is; 1. I had to pay 60 bucks for them to give me the unreasonably high quote/estimate. 2. They even offered to buy that MacBook from me if I didn't want to bother fixing it, which seemed a bit shady. As if that was part of their agenda for the high quote. I also didn't appreciate waiting about ten minutes for someone to come to the door during regular business hours, but that's another conversation. read more

Magig Data Recovery did an excellent job of repairing my laptop. I bought it in at 2pm and it was fixed by 3:30pm and the price was right. I love this place! Mike truly is magic. I had a voice recorder with messages from my father on it. After he passed I tried to listen to the messages. The prices are great the response time is fast and Mike is awesome! read more

I am so grateful to the Magic Data Recovery team for saving me when I broke my thumb drive. The piece that inserts into my computer completely bent and then broke apart. I had no idea if I could recover my ENTIRE life that was saved (I know I'm not very smart) on this little USB drive, but the second I called they assured me they could help and calmed my anxiety. Within 2 days they had my new drive with all my files ready for pick up. Mike is incredibly kind and I'd like to give a special shout out to Sam for working magic on my device! I'm also very thankful that their prices were half the cost that I was quoted from other recovery places. THANK YOU ALL at Magic Data Recovery for your help! read more

I payed these guys over $500 to recover my data and transfer it to a new hard drive. They told me, "it would be like a bad dream and my computer would be good as new." Everything seemed fine until I got home and found out whatever transpired during the recovery process now kept my computer from accessing the internet. 'Your Connection is Not Private' is the message I receive on every internet browser. I spent hours doing my own research to try and fix the problem to no avail. I called them back and texted them begging them to spend just a few more minutes diagnosing my problem as 'computer experts' to see if they could fix it. Their response was, "the renumeration was for data recovery". In other words, we have your money, go f#ck yourself! I should have payed with a credit card. These guys aren't computer experts. They are charlatans with a machine in the back. My advice: seek help elsewhere. I'll take this review down when they actually spend a few precious minutes trying to help me. read more

Folks, at this point in my life I've learned that there's no more precious possession on this earth than your personal intellectual property. I've had two unfortunate incidents in the last 3 years in which I came close to losing a crap ton of it. In one case I accidentally deleted every picture I had ever taken from 2005-2014 and in the other a back-up hard drive for my pics and videos simply decided not to work. In both cases I took the hard drives to Mike at Magic Data Recovery and he was able to help out and restore the data. Mike's a friendly genius, clearly a master in his field and super excited to do the work. He also understands how valuable your IP is and his bedside manner for making you feel informed and safe throughout the process is most excellent. Throughout both processes he would call giving updates and explaining exactly what was happening with the hard drives, which makes me feel empowered as a customer. His rates are fairly reasonable given the results too, there's never too high a price to pay when it comes to things of which there's only one copy of. I recommend anyone who has a data nightmare to take it to Mike first, he'll know what to do it and will do it well. I hope it never happens to me again, but if I encounter data troubles, I'm taking it in to Magic Data Recovery! read more

My Mac laptop started to move slowly and then shut down altogether. I had not backed up recently but thank god I found these guys. They had my computer back and working in a couple days and we're great to work with. Will definitely use again with any problems. read more

This place is awesome!! I was prepared mentally for the drive to not be recovered, it had been dropped off of the desk, and even the best in the biz are not miracle workers and can't make data appear like magic if it's not there. You don't know which way it will go, it is really fate that dictates whether your data can be rescued! But the guys at Magic Data Recovery worked for WEEKS and tried every single thing they could, in the end we ended up rescuing 100 percent of the data. Yes it took time, and it wasn't cheap, but time is money and I am thankful to have my data back. Back up your stuff!!! read more

stay far away from this place. mike is a ticking time bomb... raciest on the way i looked, yelled at me called me a mexican with a beard.. he told me that they took the back of the computer off and cleaned it and stuff. i asked him to take show me the inside and he went off.. i took it to someone else and they said the back was never taken off . so this place cost me 250.00 for nothing.. well i did get the computer working but it only worked for 1 month.. btw he threatened my girlfriend and i he would sue us if we posted a bad review. lmao its funny how i had my computer network logged on from another user from my city. so just to be sure i put a sticker over my camera. . we felt threatened like we were either gonna get shot or stabbed from this guy .. stay away .i see some reviews on how nice he is . well if there is a problem tell him theres a problem and say that you are going to write a review on yelp and google and then see what happens. he snaps like a lunitic and i guarantee you will come edit your review lmao i should of read some of the reviews before i went there.. read more

Magic Data Recovery - This is the kind of sticker they put on your computer It wont come off. So my $600 looks sh*tty They couldn't of put it in back? - Data Recovery Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

Please guys, dont ever come to this place before its too late. Worst nightmare you will ever have. I went to this place long time ago and thought that they could fixed my external hard drive. Oh boy, they said they won't charge for diagnostic but they did for $60. Moreover, there were two mike i didnt know i have been talking to on the phone which made me really confused because theyre both telling me two different things. I went back and forth to this place twice hoping that they could fix my external drive and they told me that it will take a week to fix them. They also want to charge me $300 for both. Thats freaking riduculous. Theyre mean too. So i went to search another pc/external drive repair on yelp and i found this guy name peter. Peter pc repair is the best you could ever find on yelp. This guy is the best, he literally didnt charge me at all for diagnostic check and guess what, he only took 30-40 mins to fix my both hard drives and only charge me $60. I mean, $300 to $60 + free diagnostic test? Thats a lot of difference. I dont know that much about external hard drives but how did peter fixed my hard drives in just 30 - 40 mins when this company(magic data recovery) was telling me that my drives are gonna take them about a week to fix them? How? And wanted to charge me a ridiculous price. That's insaneeeeeeee! So if i were u guys, stay away from this place and i mean it. Find "peter pc repair" on yelp and you're gonna' save lots of washington's (bucks)! Btw, mike or whomever went to my house to beg to take out my review last time, please don't ever come to my place again or i will call the cops because thats trespassing. I'm just writing a review about my experienced from the company. And i hate liarsssssss! Peace out! read more

Magic Data Recovery was a great find. They salvaged the data on an old broken hard drive and converted/transferred 20 mini DVs onto a perfectly sorted hard drive. I wish I could give this company 10 stars! So many times when you go into recovery tech shops like this you run into IT know it alls with poor customer service. NOT SO WITH MAGIC! Mike cared so much about my lost data. Almost as if it was his own. I work in television and my computer crashed at the worst time (in the middle of the show but between pay periods). He worked with me on service and price to make sure I was able to get what I needed when I needed it. He even found an issue with my hard drive that apple couldn't even detect allowing me to go back and get them to completely replace my hardware. I will ALWAYS recommend this company and come back with my devices if necessary because I know they care and that matters more than anything! If you come here KNOW you're getting your money's worth! read more
