Amazing experience! Very professional and fast. I would definitely suggest them!! Also good customer service

This review is long past due. Mike at Magic Data is a miracle worker. I had to access my data from an outside hard drive that failed for work and he was able to retrieve the data. He was also able to help me with creating a redundant copy of the data so that everything was secure. He did it quickly and was very helpful and several years later I am still so grateful for his help. Very talented and excellent service. read more

We took our Mac to this place when the whole thing went dark. We spoke to David. He told us that our computer was done due to water damage. Depending on that assessment, we gave the computer to the store and bought a refurbished MacBook Air from the store. We bought the 1 year warranty. We got the computer home and the touch pad did not work, despite David's guarantee that the computer was in perfect working order. The more we used it, the more things went wrong. We couldn't get Google Chrome to load and act correctly. We tried to return the computer, but David refused to take it, claiming that despite his representations and the warranty we had purchased, "there was nothing he could do." To put it simply-- WE GOT SCAMMED. Do NOT use this company!!! read more

My shiny MacBook Pro 14inch 2021 kept shutting down moments after logging in. Blocked from logging in and retrieving my data I dragged the overpriced hunk of metal to Magic Data. Apple Store Sherman Oaks said the drive was encrypted and this was a special job only Drive Savers could do. Drive Savers said they would put their special NASA techs on the job for 12 Thousand Dollars. Magic Data did the job for $500.00. I was blown way. These guys are amazing. Look no further. Plus they know everything about computers and are eager to help with all the little glitches that plague us all. If I could give 100 stars I would. read more

Great work! They saved my ***! I thought I had lost a month of work, but they were able to recover it all. Thanks!

Highly recommend! We have been here twice, totally panicked each time. The first time, they evaluated our dead laptop, advised against repair because the motherboard failed, but extracted our files successfully and had it all back to us in 24 hours. The second time, another dead laptop and they fixed it same day, only took a couple of hours. Mike is super nice and takes the stress out of these stressful situations, and there must be some sort of guru genius working in the back. They saved our files, fixed our laptops and did it all with a short turnaround time and at a very reasonable price. read more

While cleaning out my mom's garage, I found 3 (very) old tower style desktop drives from 2003-2013. I had no way of finding out what was on them, so I brought them to Magic Data Recovery to be recovered and saved onto a pocket-sized external. Everyone there was SO nice and helpful. they walked me through the process and gave me an ETA. Unfortunately, I was headed out of town (back home, since I no longer live in LA) and wouldn't be back for a month. Magic Data Recovery was so helpful and communicative in regards to my situation. They were able to charge me remotely and my brother picked up the new external hard drive and Brought it up to me in Oregon. They're a small business worth supporting on every level. Many thanks, Magic Data Recovery! I'm now reunited with music and photos of decades past, and I'm so grateful. read more

I had the misfortune, right before the holidays of knocking over a full glass of water onto my MacBook. It was a fairly desperate situation as I had multiple year- end transactions/documents all in process on my computer. I was also considering buying a desk top computer for my home office with a larger screen. Beginning with the communication, the experience with magic data recovery and one of the principals, Mike, was five stars across the board! Mike understood the urgency and sensitivity of my situation and kept me informed throughout - letting me know within 24 hours that they were able to recover all of my data! Also I asked them to do a data transfer on to a desktop they had available and provide me another laptop that I could take on planned vacation. A full service accommodation over the holidays - a difficult time to get anything done. It was a last minute, complicated ask and they pulled it all off within a few days between Christmas and New Years! Who does that?! Magic Data Recovery! Excellent communication and customer service with all of the transactions. All of my data was recovered and I ended up purchasing two additional customized computers. I highly highly recommend this company! Great, caring, responsive people! Thank you Mike! read more

I spilled coffee on my laptop and stupidly had nothing backed up. Apple were quoting astronomical fees to fix it, and the store offered no trade in credit because of the liquid damage. Mike at Magic Data was a godsend. He walked me through all the options I had, explained everything carefully, and was extremely responsive. I ended up with a lower quote than Apple, and was even offered a newer laptop (still at a lower cost than Apple fixing my old one) if I needed it back sooner, which I did. Would HIGHLY recommend. Mike is one of the friendliest people left in LA. read more

I feel so lucky my friend recommended magic data recovery. My computer died suddenly- completely and totally dead for no reason. Apple couldn't help me. Melrose Mac couldn't help me. I was legitimately crying on the phone to my friend, thinking an entire year's worth of work was forever gone. (I know I should have backed up, but I didn't. It happens). She said to go here. Thank goodness I listened to her advice. Mike was kind, he was very responsive and communicated well. He texted me the day I brought my computer in to tell me that he could get my data back! And he had it ready for me to pick up in 2 days!! Magic data recovery is absolutely the place to go to get your data back in a timely manner. Melrose Mac wanted 4 weeks, and said they had to ship my computer out. After only 2 days here, I had EVERYTHING back! Thank you Mike & Magic Data Recovery!! Thank you!! read more
