Magic Cup - Pros: Clean, bright atmosphere, friendly staff, great food & beverage selection Cons: Could be hard to spot. I had my first experience with this local café this past Saturday, May 23rd. The intriguing logo first caught my eye while out in search of my mid-afternoon caffeine fix. I decided to stop by and try it out since hearing a few positive things from friends and colleagues in the past month. I pulled into the parking lot and was easily able to find a nice spot on the side of the café. I was very pleased to find a large, covered patio area that offered a nice escape from the Texas heat. Upon entering, I quickly noticed the clean, modern feel of the place apt for studying, reading, or just a pleasant afternoon with a cup of coffee. There were a few classic boardgames, playing cards, and dominoes available for patrons as well. While standing in line, my attention quickly shifted towards the assortment of fresh fruits and pastries in the glass case next to the counter. I skimmed through the menu displayed on two bright LED tv screens and before I knew it, I was greeted by a friendly young lady working the register. She could tell I was unfamiliar with the menu so her and the barista took the time to walk me through a few of their popular items. I was really impressed by how welcoming their staff was. They were very patient as I mulled over my options and were also accommodating in fulfilling any special requests I had with my order. (i.e. nonfat milk, etc.) While waiting for our drinks, we happened to meet the charismatic owner of the café as she conversed with each of us asking how our experience was so far. You could tell her employees took after her passion and commitment to customer service. I ended up enjoying my cup of coffee over a nice conversation with her while we shared past experiences working in the restaurant industry and her constant strive to continue improving Magic Cup. Overall, I had a surprisingly great experience stumbling upon the new buzzing café. I may have found my new favorite go-to place for my caffeine fix. If you're looking for a change in scenery, I would highly suggest giving Magic Cup a try. It's a really nice change of pace from the usual coffee spot. read more

So, the environment is nice and clean and fresh. So, props for that. And I so badly wanted to fall in love with this place, so I got the most popular menu item: cha mango. I guess the problem was that I wasn't mentally prepared for the experience. But, I did not at all like the cha mango. Between the candy straw and spices, I couldn't get past the similarities with those salty/sour Mexican licking salts that everyone did at my junior high. And the fruit in there was hard. Mango isn't a "hard fruit" but the pieces were tough to chew and not very mango-y. I was reminded of something just might come in a public school lunch, drowning in syrup. Love this place! Everything I've ever had has been wonderful! I really like the cha mango drink!

This is my favorite place when it comes to Boba. I get same thing every time so that's why I know when something is different. As usual, I ordered 2 drinks and a large voodoo chicken. Drinks were fine but the chicken taste really weird, like it was spoiled. I returned it politely and asked for a replacement. Staff gave me another chicken but it still taste weird to me so I left almost the whole thing. After 30mins, I felt nauseous and tired which I sure it came from the chicken cause it the only thing I ate on that day so far. I threw up everything and start to feel better. I always love the food here and I knows sometime things happens so yeah.. just small reminder for whoever make the food: be more careful in this hot weather cause food is easier to spoiled read more

This establishment is designed beautifully. Good boba and the likes. What I didn't like about the service was that p"when it was time to pay, they would flip around the monitor to somewhat "force the patron" to add on gratuity. Monitor displayed probably 10-15-20. Let's face it, if they printed out your receipt, you would sign wo ever thinking about adding a tip. Why add a tip when you clearly have not been waited on? I don't see McDonald, Wendy, subway etc deploying this tactic. Maybe I'm old fashion. Agree then sign to the transaction? If that was the case, then why accentuate the tipping portion? Once the screen is flipped, the tipping suggestion is clearly the only portion you see LOUDLY. Just like any advertisement, you draw attention by making letters big, underline, bold, different colors etc. You have clearly chose to have the tipping portion stand out. If that wasn't your intention, make the tipping portion 1/4 of the screen and whatever else else important to "complete" the transaction. You can't deny people tip more frequently based on how it's presented. Boba was awesome. read more

Came here yesterday for the first time with a friend! He got the house milk tea and I ordered the Thai tea. I thought the Thai tea tasted great, not too sweet which is something I look out for in a drink. The milk tea was pretty bland and sort of watery, hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. Also, I'm not sure if the teas are premade daily, because I don't think the drinks were made/shaken when we ordered. Customer service was awesome! read more

So my first review - a long long time ago - was harsh. I tried a drink and I didn't like it. But places like this are going to cater to different tastes and obviously the spicy watermelon drink wasn't to my taste... But the Vietfrappe is. My wife and I order it without whipped cream and drizzle and it has that amazing balance of coffee flavor with the creaminess you want from a vietnamese coffee - yet it's cold. Calling it a frappe is almost an insult to how good it is. It shames any other frappe I've had. It is consistent and doesn't separate like some other frappes I've had. Often there's an emulsifier to give mouth feel that somehow breaks away from the ice and such - but this one is just consistent all the way through. The staff is always nice and while I have had to wait for a drink - it's because there were a bunch of people in front of me... and you can see the staff hustling to get the drinks out as fast as possible. read more

As a fan of their cha strawberry and cha mango drink, I jus had to try their cha watermelon during this sweat blasting weather. The drink looks really similar to the cha strawberry except alot more liquidy. Not sure if it's the watermelon they used or too much ice, but the drink came out really watery and I didn't taste much watermelon but rather ice. I havent really tried any of their other boba tea drinks or milk teas so my experience is purely on the cha drinks. The place is nice and clean, but a bit small. Drinks look alright but they don't taste good. Seems like they are trying to be like Share Tea, but Share tea is actually good and worth the price and just down the street. I will not be coming back to this establishment for customer service is horrible as well. Make sure you get an egg on your fries they melt in your mouth! The wings can be basic to spicy but the flavor of here Asian spices are unique and so good! My new must-go-to drinks place. Right when you walk in, it's impossible to not look at the beautifully designed seating area. Perfectly aligned white tables with colorful bar stools and couch seating... The place is super trendy. Not to mention, they have great outdoor patio seating! Interior design receives a star. (1) The staff is friendly and patient. They know their menu well. One of the ladies actually came to talk to me about my first impression here and handed me a spoon (for my drink). She was super nice and I think she's perhaps the owner or manager. Service receives a star. (1) For my first order, I got the Cha-Mango which comes with a candy-chile straw. Perfect for spring and summer. The drink has freshly cut mangos, great seasoning and was sweet but not too much so. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As for snacks I got the magic puffs, which are a MUST HAVE (they're so good with this drink), coffee cake, and banana bread. Honestly, the coffee cake was good but the banana bread was just okay. They warm up both for you though which is really nice. Drink/food is given (3) stars. Adding up all these factors, I really want to end up giving Magic Cup a 10/5. It's just that great. I went with friends to work on a group project the place wasn't too loud to the point we couldn't think yet it also wasn't as silent as the independent study area at the library. I got the Thai green tea with extra boba (great boba btw) and it was great! One of my friends got the cha strawberry and she really like it for how it was sweet, spicy, and fruity. We also had 2 Ice cream macarons. We all agreed that the fruity pebbles one was better than the cookies and cream. Overall it was a fun and productive visit. read more

The closest bubble tea shops in this area are dirty and ratty so I was happy to see how clean and normal smelling this place is! They have coffees, teas, smoothies, and snacks (think kimchi fries and egg rolls). Their popular drink is the cha-mango-- doesn't seem like my cup of tea (ha!) so I passed and got the strawberry-raspberry tea with bubbles instead. Except the ran out of raspberry an gave me mango-strawberry. Er, ok. Oh they also forgot to give me bubbles but the cup was filled with fruit. Despite the minor hiccups to still worth 4 stars and I'd definitely come back they have about 6 tables of outdoor seating, board games inside and free wifi! read more

I wasn't sure what to expect since I'd never had them before. She called my number and proceeded to bring my order to the table where I was waiting. Awesomeness! The food did not disappoint at all. The fries were slightly crunchy but soft on the inside. There was a sauce on the fries which I believe was yum yum sauce. Very tasty. I love how Dallas is starting to get a better dessert scene! Magic Cup is conveniently located and I just love how their outside seating. My favorite drink so far has got to be the passion fruit lemonade. I wasn't a big fan of the cha mango (all my friends said they loved it but it just wasn't my taste preference) and the milk tea (if you're used to getting milk tea around here make sure you ask that it's extra sweet). I ordered the voodoo chicken poppers and my boyfriend loved it so much and wanted to order seconds and thirds. They have a lot of board games to play with as well! The shop is unique in its snacks and drink options. Drinks: they have drinks that aren't available in typical boba shop. They include real fruit in some drinks which is refreshing. More American options. Food: I tried the kimchi fries which I thought was average. They were smaller serving than I thought but still tasty. They have other snacks that aren't typically served in other shops so this place could be a fun place for food adventures! Atmosphere: Modern decor. I, for the most part, agree with Nga N's review. I am guilty of going to Magic Cup 3-4 times a week just for their cha-mango drink. It's highly addicting and I can see why people love it so much. Mango smoothie with chamoy sauce, chunks of fresh mango throughout and a tamarind candy straw. What's not to love about this drink? My son likes their green tea frappe but doesn't like the extra sprinkle of matcha on top so we always ask them not to add it. I've tried their milk tea with boba but to be honest I've had better elsewhere. I've also had their fruit madness tea with popping boba. My only complaint is that there isn't enough ice. They mix the drink with ice and by the time they pour the drink into the cup the ice has melted. I like lots of ice in my teas specially during the summer months in Texas. As for their food items, I've tried their pork eggrolls, sweet basil calamari and the magic puffs. Only the magic puffs are worth a try. Instead of a beignet (like from Cafe du Monde in NOLA) they remind me of the Chinese doughnuts that you would get at a Chinese buffet. Instead of being coated with granulated sugar the puffs are dusted with powdered sugar. The picture on the menu shows that the magic puffs are drizzled with a chocolate sauce and topped with fruit. Magic Cup had so much hype, and I was extremely excited to try it. My cousin literally has 6 full punch cards from Magic Cup, which means he's had it a minimum of 60 times. Drinks - 3/5 1. Milk tea - This is just a good standard milk tea. 2. Thai tea - Standard 3. Mango smoothie - I don't like their smoothies here, because I don't like when places add ice. Instead of being creamy and fruity, it tastes very icey to me. Overall, I just wasn't wowed by Magic Cup. The location is great though. It's definitely one of the closer boba places, so it's convenient to go to. I've already had it about 4 times, since my brother and cousin love this place. This interior is pretty neat. It's fun to look at, and there are board games & comfy chairs making it a great hangout spot. There are little wifi cards with passwords littered throughout the tables. However, if you can't even make a decent cup of milk tea with bubbles, and it's lukewarm and watered down, you shouldn't make boba tea at all. Worst one I've ever spent $4 on. They may make all the fruity frou-frou drinks just fine, but that's like if Starbucks fails at brewing coffee, yet makes great frappucinos.
