The quality of service has gone down substantially from the first time we hired Magic Carpet Steam Cleaning. We will not use this company going forward as the last visit was very unprofessional, job left incomplete as equipment was packed up before cleaning all of the area rugs, and we had to fight to get the invoice adjusted. The owner was given a walk through prior to the date of the cleaning so that he could be shown all of the carpet, the number of area rugs we wanted cleaned, and floor to be strip waxed. We were promised an estimate of the cost upon his return from vacation but none was ever provided. Several requests were made for the estimate that went unfulfilled. Due to no fault of the company, unfortunately the strip and wax could not be done. The painters we hired were not finished painting as they said they would be thus the room was not accessible. We communicated that to the owner informing him that the painters were not done as originally planned. We tried to reschedule but owner was not willing to accommodate. So we left it. I expected the owner to come prepared with all the necessary tools and equipment to do what they were hired to do and not ask us the customer for any equipment. Instead we were asked if we had a vacuum cleaner he could use. Of course the answer was no he should have come prepared and brought his own. We were extremely dissatisfied with the poor service provided. When the owner stated he was done he was asked about the remaining area rugs and he said that he already packed up his equipment. This was done without verifying the job was complete. There was a lot of back and forth with the owner that was not necessary and frankly was extremely disappointing. We had used this company for several years and were our go to company for steam cleaning and strip and wax. Now we are in the market for a new company to hire. Sad to say that we had to sever the business relationship. Hopefully, the professionalism improves for future customers. read more

I'm just going to state my experience that led to me cancelling an appointment I didn't even make with this company. 1) impossible to get a hold of through calling - can't even figure out how to tell them to not come since they don't have a person answering phone numbers 2) books apts without contacting the customer then sends texts saying what time they'll be there 3) changed my apt a day after without asking via text to a time slot I said I couldn't do shortly after 4) stopped responding to me through text when I said that the time isn't going to work and what other times they had on the day I originally needed As you can see by the response below. This company is trying to throw blame on me.. would you choose a company who doesn't take responsibility for the mess up they created? What this company policy is showing a customer is that they confirm your requested appointment and then without notifying you they take someone else and book them during your slot and then change your appointment to suit THEIR needs. Who operates a business like that? Plus as you can see by my photos they did not respond to my texts at all after changing my appointment - a big turn off to a first time customer. The end of August was my move out day from my rental. Groupon had a deal for another carpet cleaning company. So, I contacted them and made an arrangement for them to show up Monday afternoon. Then, I preceded to purchase the Groupon deal. At 11am, the other company did not show up nor did they answer their phone. At 2pm, I finally decided to call Magic Carpet Steam cleaning. Ken answered the phone and was able to give me a pretty accurate estimate of how much the carpet cleaning would cost. Fortunately, he was able to arrive 2 days later to come in and clean the apartment. Due to traffic and an accident in town, he arrived late, but he kept me posted on his ETA with text messages. I liked that. When he arrived, he double checked his measurements to verify how much the job would cost. Why? Ken takes pride in his work and wants to be fair and accurate and respectful to his customers. After his partner and he had his equipment ready to go, he told me that I could take off and not have to worry about anything for the next 1-2 hours for the job to be completed. When I returned, he showed me each of the rooms and showed me where he had his successes and failures. The failures were due to stains that previous tenants had caused to the apartment. Yet, he was able to clean other spots that were not created by my housemate and I. At the conclusion of our business interaction, he explained to me that if the property managers have any problems, he would gladly return to finish up the work. I'm so happy that Magic Carpet Steam Cleaning was able to come on such short notice! I had to move out quickly and I had called several places, even the place that my landlord recommended with no luck. Everyone was booked. Magic Carpet Steam Cleaning came to the rescue! Their process appears to work by scheduling an appointment on their website. After doing that you get confirmation and then they show up at your house. For some reason they ask that you pre-vacuum your carpet before they come over to clean if you have pets. I'm not sure why as I thought the whole purpose was for them to clean and not for your to help them clean. I did not want to argue, so I agreed. I was able to get them to work on my carpet just a few days later. When they arrived, they asked me to move my car to street parking and I did. They parked in my parking stall. Shortly later, they took a look around and then brought in their equipment. They started cleaning and I decided to leave because I was still in the process of moving. I had already moved all of my belongings off of the carpets that needed cleaning. Less than an hour later I got a call back that they were done! That was fast! I came back (my new place is only a couple blocks from my old place) and checked out how clean my carpet was. They did a great job considering how dirty the carpets were to begin with. The carpet appeared to be very clean, but still wet. They told me that it would take a couple hours to dry and to leave the windows open to help drying. I paid the agreed upon price of $100 something (I had a small place) and then they left. What's great is that they accept credit cards. That is awesome so you don't have to carry cash with you. After they left, I looked in my bathroom and wasn't happy that they had used my bathroom sink to dump some of their waste water. I had to clean my sink after. Not that big of deal because my carpets passed inspection with my landlord and I got my full deposit back! read more

I called last week to have an appointment set up for this week to get my carpet and mattress cleaned after an extended stay by a number of guests included a couple of kids. They called two days early with a cancellation to see if I would like to move up the appointment however that did not fit into my schedule. On cleaning day they called at 945 am to let me know they would be there in 30 minutes for my 1000-12000 arrival time. Like clockwork they called at 1014 confirming where they could park. Upon arrival to the apartment, they took the time to go over all the places that I requested for them to do and went over a few of the precautions (drying might take longer due to lack of ceiling/floor fans and overcast/cool conditions, very deep stains may wick back through the carpet due to vacuuming, furniture with metal parts [such as my couch with a metal frame] may rust the carpet if replaced too quickly, etc). Afterwards they gave me an estimate for the cleaning (after measuring the areas with a range finder) and then went to work. It took a few minutes to get some of the lighter furniture in the lanai and to the kitchen and they helped me move my couch to a spot where it would be out of place. Within 20 minutes of arrival Mike and Jon were at work steaming and cleaning the apartment. They checked in with me periodically to show what they were removing from the carpet and furniture. Who knew there was so much dirt and grime the vacuum doesn't get!?!? I should note that they needed access to a sink/toilet to remove all the impurities found. After 65 minutes, they finished cleaning the 750 sq ft of inch shag carpet with ease. The team was very professional as well as personable, providing tips to help keep the carpet clean as well as drying techniques. It was pretty cloudy and without fans, it took about 6 hours for the carpets and furniture to dry. But when it was all said and done- all the stains and smells were clearly removed. This service was completely worth it. I will definitely use Magic again, and certainly for my move-out servicing of the carpet. read more

This is not based on their work, but I just want them to know that one phone call can cost you a job. The person who answered was so rude that I was put off and decided that I'd just go with another company. Maybe you were in a rush or something. If you were, there are ways to handle a customer over the phone. Ask for our number, maybe say you'll call me back in an hour so you can have a chat and see what I needed done. You made me feel like you was just trying to get me off the phone. I'm not gonna go in depth on the actual convo, but I ended up hiring someone else who was more polite over the phone. Not RUDE or SASSY. You may want to hire or have someone take the calls with good customer service skills. Too bad I couldn't experience the 5 stars. read more

I hired Magic Carpet to clean the residue off the upholstery from my love seat and mattresses that another cleaner steam cleaned 4 days ago. As such, I have the benefit of experiencing two steam cleaners in a short amount of time. The other cleaner used some sort of disinfectant and sanitizer without first advising me and used so much of it that it gave me a headache and runny nose. Apparently I had an allergic reaction to the chemicals being used. WARNING: Make sure you know what chemicals your cleaner is using. If you have allergies, you may not want any chemicals. Because the prior cleaner used a lot of the sanitizer (which he said was an eco product), I asked Magic Carpet to use water only simply to remove the chemical. I made the appointment with Ken who asked thoughtful questions about the type of work that needed to be done to prepare his team. Two guys were sent over to do the job, Mike and John. They were prompt and thorough being careful not to drip water on my new hardware floors (they even brought their own drop cloths) and taking care to make sure the furniture wouldn't scratch the flooring. First of all, their equipment was in better condition than the prior cleaner. The prior cleaner's equipment was dripping water everywhere. Magic Carpet's equipment didn't drip any water. As Mike and John cleaned, they would ask me to review their work periodically. John was also experiencing allergy symptoms too as soon as he started cleaning. Looks like it wasn't just me. Seems like the chemical the prior cleaner used is toxic. Moreover, Magic Carpet used less water than the other company. My mattress was slightly damp after their efforts but the prior guy saturated the mattress so much that it was wet for over two days. I appreciated Mike and John's efforts to make sure I was satisfied. Ultimately, they weren't able to get out 100% of the smell and chemicals but they were able to reduce it significantly. My only concern would be that I feel their pricing for the love seat portion was a little high. That being said, they did a thorough and professional job and I recommend them highly. read more

I was looking for a carpet cleaning company in Aiea/Pearl City online. I found magic carpet cleaning and it had pretty good reviews, so I input my information to their site for a reservation. It was a Sunday, so I wasn't expecting a call back until at least Monday. But literally 5 minutes after I input my information, I had a representative call me to confirm my appointment time. Very good costumer service to say the least. The cleaners were punctual and respectful. They made sure to give a courtesy call as my reservation was in the morning. They showed up on time with all their supplies ready. Their prices are very reasonable. For about 500 sq. ft. I paid $150. The cleaners also provided complimentary stain cleaner for those accidental spills! My carpet looks great and I am 100% satisfied with my overall expeience with Magic carpet cleaners. I had a kitchen renovation about a month ago, knowing all the construction works would bring a lot of dust in the room. I contacted Ken asking him some question. He got it back very quickly. I told him as soon as the renovation was done would be contacting him for an appointment. Ken showed up on time as his schedule, and he was very friendly and willing to help moving my furniture that in the way. I was very impressed how careful and thorough he did his work. He took his time to clean the carpet, and I'm the traffic area he surely enough to clean twice and the most impressive was toward end of Jon, he would use a special wipe to restore the carpet fabric and help drying fast. As he suggested to me that turned the air on would expedite the carpet drying and help keeping carpet clean. I had many carpet cleaning and usually took a day to get dry, and the results was not comparable with Ken's carpet cleaning. Ken is supper nice and sociable, very fun man to talk with. Awesome cleaning service. We needed our living room carpet cleaned as we are moving out of a rental unit. Specifically, we were worried about a rather large stain that wasn't there prior to our moving in. They came all the way to Manoa, and were done within half an hour. I should have known that this was going to happen as I could never get a written reply with the quote.
