Terrible experience. I went in to shorten my dress- just 2 inches shorter and the seamstress completely ruined my $350 dress. Made it way too tight, and shortened it about 5 inches. Couldn't even wear the dress and had to throw it away. Didn't pin it correctly on my body. I would include pictures but my butt is completely out. Also the stitching was done very poorly. Left crying- worst experience I've ever had with a seamstress. read more

I was referred to Maggie by someone on Nextdoor (pretty much the only good thing to come from that app). She's tucked away in this little cottage behind Lemonade with a barely visible sign. Maggie's smile is as wide as she is tall. She has very gripping Armenian soap operas on in the background - I kind of wish I could hang out there all day. I brought two dresses to Maggie, both for special occasions. She was helpful, had good ideas and turned around the custom alterations in 1 week. DO NOT GO THERE. I rarely write reviews but this was unacceptable. I gave Maggie my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding and it came back stained all over from some chalk cleaner she used after marking it with chalk. Look at the photos to see what I mean. She also caused some sort of weird dimpling issue. With 4 days before the wedding, I said that I could rush order a new dress and return it if she was able to get the stains out, but I need her to pay the $80 rush shipping because I won't get that back in the return. She refused to pay. She yelled at me that she wasn't going to pay a cent even though she admitted that it was her fault. She wants me to wait for the dry cleaner to come back with the dress, which may or may not work at removing the stains, and certainly won't fix the dimpling issue. If I don't order the dress today, I won't get it in time for the wedding, so I can't roll the dice with this dry cleaner she is using. This was a brand new $290 dress that I gave her! DO NOT GO TO HER. I am now going to have to pay the cost of the dress, plus the rush shipping and worst case I'll be out $370 + the $75 alteration fee if the original dress is not fixed because I'll have to get it altered as well. Best case I'll be out $80 if I return the 2nd dress and use the first one. The fact that she is so unwilling to take financial responsibility speaks to her lack of morals and ethics. In this day, character is so important, and Maggie is a very flawed and selfish person who values money over doing the right thing. I hope karma exists... read more

I have found a new fairy godmother. I want to say how appreciative I am for Maggie not only accommodating my extremely rushed order, but executing the alterations so beautifully the dress was more comfortable and stunning than before. Unfortunately, the custom designer dress I had ordered for my New Year's Eve party arrived and it was somehow two sizes smaller than what it was supposed to be, the straps didn't fall properly because I couldn't get the dress over my hips, and the length was so long I couldn't walk (what. the. hell.). I'd barely received it from the designer three business days before the holidays, and five days before my overseas trip so there was no time to send back for adjustments & there was no option for another dress for my event. I had called a few places around in a panic to see if the dress would be able to be altered in time and done properly, and Maggie was the only one up to the task. She assured me that the alterations would be possible and she immediately set to work on it. I was able to receive back my dress perfectly fitting the day of my trip. So thank you, Maggie. I've used Maggie twice in the last couple of months. One was a same day alteration for some pants I was taking on a trip with me that I discovered very late were way too long! I called Maggie and she had me come in 30 minutes later. A couple hours after that the pants were done and I was on my way. The other was an inexpensive suit that I was forced to buy due to some COVID weight gain (wah waaah). Maggie made the suit look like a million bucks! Would highly recommend. read more

I had a great, simple experience with Maggie. Called on a Tuesday to have a dress altered, and went in the same day. She pinned it up, and told me that it would be done in about 3 days and what the cost would be. Called back 3 days later and it was already finished! Tried it on; it fit like a glove! Maggie is very nice but I would never go back or recommend her to anyone. I brought her two items. The first was a dress that was too long and the straps needed to be shortened. She shortened the straps more than we talked about and they were very uneven. One strap was more than an inch longer than the other and the hem for the bottom layer was also not straight. I also asked if she could tack the top where the fabric wasn't ruching properly and instead of tacking it to match the top layer that you see, white; She tacked it in the navy underside color so it shows. The other item was a handmade velvet skirt for a costume that was too long. I told her that the hem at the bottom did not matter, because it was a costume. I just needed it shortened. When she gave it back, the bottom two inches were ruined. She had pressed it with a thin towel over it and crushed the velvet. The crushed areas are a lighter color and very obvious. When I showed Maggie, she said well that is how you have to do it. She did not apologize at all for ruining the fabric. She offered to try to get two inches out of waistband to compensate for the bottom, but I knew there wasn't two inches there and I didn't want it ruined further. She still charged me $25 for the ruined skirt. I showed it to a costumer at the party who said that professionals know that velvet needs a special velvet board to be pressed. Maggie never told me there was any potential problems with shortening the skirt and still never apologized nor offered a discount for this problem. I have tried everything to bring the velvet back but it can't be done. I just wouldn't trust her with anything you like. read more

I reached out to Maggie after damaging my beloved silk dress on a doorframe. It was mangled and torn in multiple spots from that one incident. Maggie told me to come in that same day and she assessed the damage. She was very honest about what could and couldn't be accomplished and was transparent about what to expect.
