DO NOT GO HERE. This woman took a pair of house hold scissors and simply cut off three inches from my gown. Crooked cut, frayed, a botch job. She then had the audacity to charge me $125. If I had known I could have just cut the bottom myself with my own scissors. I'd like to add, this was a $1200 Cult Gaia gown that she destroyed and I'm too embarrassed to try and resell it now. Horrible experience. I hope this review saves someone from having this experience, trust me- just go somewhere else. This is truly shameful. read more

Horrible! I don't understand HOW this lady has so many good reviews. She is rude and lazy. The shop smells like mold and there are pieces of clothing everywhere. She barely pinned my bridesmaid dress, said it would be ready in a week and when I went to pick it up at the scheduled time she said she FORGOT about it and it wasn't ready! Like wtf... When I finally got to try on the dress another week later, I could see the stitches sticking out and the worst part... she didn't pin the fabric around the hem all the way, so the dress is now SHORTER in the back. Check out her face when she saw the terrible and irreversible mistake she'd made. I just threw a $800 dress and the $140 she charged me in the trash. Do not bring your clothes here. I brought in 2 gowns to be altered over 3 weeks before they were needed. We did a fitting two weeks after to check the fit. One gown had been adjusted so it was about 2" shorter than originally agreed. Maggie was trying to pull the hem down to no avail. When I got my gowns another week later the fits were fine however one gown still too short and not properly finished so the sequins was digging into my skin at the seams, the other had off color tulle rim. I ended up having to clean up her work so I was able to comfortably wear the dress. My main complaint is that the workmanship was terrible for the price. It looked like a rush job and was still charged $800! I would not use her again. read more

I needed pockets added to a costume jacket, and two other alteration shops claimed they couldn't possibly help me. After searching on Yelp, I found Maggie and decided to give her a call. "Bring it in, I'll see what I can do," she told me. I dropped off the jacket, explain what needed to be done and the timeline I needed it back by, and she told me to check in a few weeks later. When she called to let me know it was ready, I was overjoyed! The added pockets were well done, and looked like they originally came with the jacket. I had to get a pair of trousers hemmed for a wedding party that I was in. Maggie did a great job, and her prices seem super reasonable. She was attentive on the phone, and friendly, she even stayed open a little late so I could walk the trousers down to her store. She was absolutely great. The shop is tucked away in a side street and there isn't a lot of signage if I recall correctly so make sure to pay close attention to the address. There is a little side parking lot for you to park. I would recommend calling ahead because it seems like her hours can be a bit irregular depending on how many appointments she had. I don't typically have a lot of need for a trailer, or alterations, but the next time I do I'm going back to Maggie. read more

Sorry this post is late. Maggie deserves a shout out! I took in a dress for hemming after receiving it in the mail. First, Maggie was my perfect hype-woman and did not hold back compliments. She was very encouraging when I asked her to help me hem the dress (nearly 5"! I'm v short ) while keeping the shape and patterns aligned. When I asked for a pick up date, she asked me when I needed it by. It was for our best friend's wedding at the end of the month (2.5 weeks out), she said, "Okay, come by next week." I was shocked how quickly she was able to turn around my dress (when clearly, she had many projects going already!!). The payment was fair, for her speed and wonderful customer service. I will definitely be going back in the future for more tailoring jobs. read more

Wouldn't recommend if you need something important done. I brought my wedding dress in first week of October, needed it done within 2-3 weeks, which she was able to do. They were minimal alterations- folding down cups, added straps, and hemmed the dress, no complicated fabric or lace or anything. When I called in the day before she said it would be ready, she gave me a later day that week to come in instead of the original day she said. The alterations were fine but sloppy- many stray threads left, and my dress had been bunched at the bottom of my garment bag. The entire shop is kind of a mess and there is no real system to keep track of anything, I wasn't given any ticket or receipt for anything. The straps were not done well- the way they were sewn made the fabric look wrinkled, she barely measured anything and the straps ended up being a bit loose- they even fell several times as I walked down the aisle. Not even an hour into the reception, both straps started coming completely undone to the point we had to cut the straps off. As well, the bustle she added broke completely as we were doing our wedding party entrances into the reception, so I had to kick it around during our first dance. I paid $600 for the alterations, which kind of seemed like a number she pulled out of nowhere when I went to pay, but she got it done quickly enough and I needed to pack it, so I paid and now am not too happy about the issues. I called her to let her know and basically what she had to say was 'in my 20 years I have never had anyone call with these kinds of issues'. So I guess you take your chances. read more

Wow oh wow - Maggie did wonders on this bridesmaid dress. I purchased a wrap dress from Bhldn which was way too long and even though I sized up two sizes - WAY TOO SMALL - in the chest area. Maggie shortened the dress and used that material to take my dress out two inches. She also added bead work to make it opens with the rest of the dress. It fits like a glove, and I am honestly over the moon! I will be returning to Maggie's for all my alteration needs! read more

Okay I've found your new favorite alterations queen. Maggie is a sweet lady who's been doing this for over 20 years. I went to her for a last minute same day alteration and while I was thinking I'd be charged an arm and a leg, she charged me so little that I tipped. Her work is meticulous, impeccable and her place is a hidden little gem that feels like a little shop you'd stumble upon overseas.
