I bought a top that had an elastic waist that was big/long on me, so I brought it here to have it shortened. And Karen's Tailoring delivered!! I brought it on June 27th and picked it up on July 8th! So it took about a week not including Sundays (since they're closed) and the holiday. I wasn't in any rush but I'm so happy it got done in just a week! Great quality for such a fair price too! and they're super nice :) I'll definitely be back for any tailoring needs I may have in the future. When looking for their shop, their door is not visible right away. You take the elevator to get to the 2nd floor of the plaza, then if you look to your left upon exiting the elevator, there will be a sign on the wall that points to a little corridor that leads to their shop! For payment methods, they take credit card (with a service fee). Venmo and zelle (no service fee for these 2). I believe they also take cash. Overall great experience! read more

Left this place in tears because of how I was just treated. Went to pick up my alterations which the man (I assume his name is Karen?) originally quoted me the total cost would be $70-$75 for the alterations. ALWAYS get these quotes in writing. That was my mistake to not request a written estimate or take a photo of what he had written down. My bad for assuming the best in people and that he would be honest about his price and keep his word. When I went today to pick up my items, he told me the amount was DOUBLE what he originally priced out for me, making the total $140. I immediately said I can't pay $140 and that the original cost he told me was $70 (possibly more if he had to order new buttons for one of the dresses.) He lied to my face and said that he never told me $70. Then he said the reason it costs $140 is because he had to replace a zipper on one of the items. Not really sure how replacing a zipper DOUBLES the cost, but regardless, if the time and labor is going to cost DOUBLE what you originally quoted your customer, the LEAST you could do is call me before doing the work to make sure that is okay with me and that I can afford the new price and want to pay the new price for the work. This was NEVER communicated to me before the work was done or before I came to pick up my clothes. I was completely blindsided and this felt like a total bait and switch. I understand sometimes a task requires more labor or takes more of your time, but if you will be charging me for that you need to TELL me or ASK me in advance. Quite frankly, had I known this price beforehand, I would have said NO please do not do that, the cost is not worth it to me. None of the items I was having fixed are even worth $140 combined! I would never spend that on having them altered! The man (Karen), was incredibly rude when I calmly tried to explain that this felt like a bait and switch. He gave me the clothes and basically just said take them and leave... which I found very offensive, because I was still fully wanting and planning to pay for my alterations - I was not asking to take them for free or a discounted rate, I just wanted him to honor the original price he told me and keep his word. Then as I explained that I would absolutely still be paying him for his work and his time, he ignored me, walked to the back and sat down and started eating his lunch. As I talked to him asking how I can pay, he fully ignored me, would not look at me, and continued eating his lunch. The woman who was working there was very kind and got up to help me, since he was ignoring me... and I told her I'd like to pay the price I was quoted, plus extra since he had to order some new buttons. She helped me to pay them via Venmo and I added $20 for the buttons they had to order, paying them $90 total. Again, the woman was very kind and I appreciated that she at least listened to me and tried to understand where I was coming from. Bottom line is, if you think something may take longer, that labor price should be included in the initial quote. And if as you are working you realize something may cost more or take more time, you need to communicate this and run it by your customer beforehand, rather than blindsiding them with a cost that is double what they were quoted when they come to pick up their items. And regardless of the situation, it is never okay to ignore another human being when they are calmly trying to communicate with you and find a solution. I feel so disrespected. read more

Karen did an incredible job completely remaking a vintage coat I found at Goodwill. He repaired the entire silk lining that had been shredded and made it look brand new while preserving a small patch of embroidery that made the coat really special. He also replaced the buttons and now the coat is perfect and I can't wait to wear it. His prices are totally affordable and his work is impeccable. Will be back to save more great pieces! read more

Easy five stars. Karen is amazing. I cannot recommend him highly enough. It doesn't matter what I bring or how badly it fits, it ends up looking and fitting flawlessly. When I try something on, he looks at the garment for a second, as though he can see some invisible stitches, then goes to work, folding, pinning, tugging. And when I come to pick it up, everything sits like it was custom-made for me. The fees are very reasonable for the quality of work, and he is always on time as promised. My pants needed the zipper fixed and the waist had to be fixed. I found this place by luck and boy am I happy that I found it. The location is clean and the employee was very friendly. He took care of my problem in couple of hours and returned my pants the same day so I could wear it to work. I really recommend this alterations shop to everyone If you live the the Valley. Head spinning service! This world would be heaven if every business operated like Karen's Tailor. In an age where the cost, quality, and general experience of customer service seems to become more and more grim, Karen's tailoring shines like a bright star in a dark sky. I'm a skinny dude, nothing fits me correctly, I've learned to deal with it. But every man deserves a nice suit. So recently I bought one for a black tie event that would take place the following night. I spent a Friday evening driving around town trying to find a quick and affordable tailor, I found a lot of puzzled faces and belly laughs. I'm not even going to go into my experience in Koreatown, let's just say, I won't be going back to that pit for anything. I hope a fault-line opens up and swallows K-town whole. No one could do it in the time frame, the ones that could were astronomically priced. I was doomed until I found Tatyana. She had me come in the morning, and I was out the door in 20 minutes. My suit tailored to perfection by 7pm. I'm not even going to tell you how little I was charged, they would probably go out of business. I came here last minute looking for solution for my prom dress. I didn't like my original prom dress I had purchased cause I thought it really wasn't what I was looking for I looked everywhere for places where I can find another dress without going overboard on the price but my parents weren't having it lol. I came across Karen's tailoring & took my prom dress in and I already had in mind that maybe there wasn't a solution but luckily the owner told me to go to downtown to find the fabric of my dress (keep in mind I wanted to add length to my dress and add a train to it.) I went to downtown and the fabric of my dress was nowhere to find so I thought of buying new fabric and asking if I can get a whole new dress well he did his magic and made my prom dress from a 5 to a 10 I was OBSESSED and still am definitely a dress I will wear more than once. read more

What a terrible experience. I brought Karen a dress that needed to be taken in and hemmed. His price was twice what I expected to pay - and upon having the dress returned to me, he had not taken in the torso of the dress at all and the halter of the dress was absurdly tight. When I asked him to fix it, he refused and said it would be an extra cost. At a complete loss, I brought the dress to another tailor who told me the halter of the dress was altered completely incorrectly which was why it seemed to pull so tight, and she needed to take the entire thing apart to correct it. When all was said and done, I spent a crazy amount of money to have someone correct the work he did, AND finish the job that he would not finish. I would advise anyone against visiting this shop. Truly disappointed in not only the service, but Karen's attitude when I expressed my concerns with his work. read more
