Lots of natural lighting. Candle on the table and nice dishware elevated the ambiance. Started with the sauerkraut balls for appetizer. Lovely. I'm a skeptic with fried foods and the breading was light with a large portion of kraut and sausage inside. The mustard crema balanced it nicely. If I come back, I'll ask for a couple of pickles with it. Entrees: we ordered a wurst plate and a duck schnitzel to share between two adults. It was the perfect balance of richness with homemade vinegar sides to balance. Service was warm and professional. Exactly what I expect for the price point. Waiter was knowledgeable about the food and pleasant without being too involved (given that we were the only table at the time). Waters were never dry and the seating was comfortable. We didn't drink but it would be a nice place to hang with a cocktail. Impressive drink menu.

It 100% lived up to the hype (it was highly recommended)! NOTES: - Reservations: available online through Tock/Resy - Parking: free street parking nearby within walking distance - Online ordering: available on their website through PopMenu for pickup THE HIGHS: - Arrived a little early for our reservation and got seated right away - Server (Tiffany) was delightful - Reasonably priced (especially compared to some other restaurants in town) - Sauerkraut balls were unique and DELICIOUS - Duck schnitzel is what dreams are made of THE LOWS: - They were out of black forest cake (which we were so excited to try) THE PRICE: Reasonably priced for the food quality and portion size - Iced tea ($4) - Pretzel Und Bierkäse ($12) - Sauerkraut Balls ($18) - 2 Duck Schnitzel ($34 each) The total was $110.40 after tax ($8.40) but before tip. BEST BITES: - Sauerkraut balls (crispy but not oily and so incredibly flavorful) - Duck schnitzel (duck breast is tender and crispy without being oily, the käsespätzle is creamy, and the kirsch demi-glacé is so unique) THE VERDICT: This was my first visit to Otto's after seeing it recommended online by so many people so it was a must try while visiting Fredericksburg. It ended up being my favorite dinner I had there and I've already recommended it to others because it was that good!

It has that rare combination of being polished and memorable while still feeling relaxed and distinctly Texas. The food was phenomenal. The cheeseburger was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly prepared, especially with the bacon jam. The cilantro pesto pasta was outstanding, with fresh vegetables and perfectly cooked shrimp. We also loved the chicken schnitzel, the burrata, and the black bean hummus--everything tasted fresh, generous, and thoughtfully prepared. The menu does an excellent job showcasing Texas comfort food with creative, seasonal touches. And dessert was unforgettable. The croissant bread pudding and blackberry crumble were absolutely incredible--rich, comforting, and generous enough to share, although I wouldn't blame anyone for keeping them all to themselves. The drinks and Texas wine selection were equally impressive, and the peach margarita is a must-try. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Our server was attentive, personable, and offered excellent recommendations without ever being intrusive. The entire team made us feel genuinely welcome, and the atmosphere--including the patio, music, and beautiful dining spaces--made it feel like far more than just a meal. I left Hill & Vine completely full, incredibly happy, and already planning my next visit. If you're in Fredericksburg, do yourself a favor and go.

Figure out which are the good ones and skip the others. Definitely order the margarita ceviche. Enough to split. Fresh fish, great flavor. Definitely order the fried pie. Enough for 3 to split. It's incredible with southern peach fried pie with flaky crust, pecan Ice cream and rum caramel sauce. The watermelon green tomato salad with goat cheese was dull. Not sure how they accomplished that given the ingredients, but I'd pass on that. The French onion soup was ok. Nothing memorable, not bad. The tri tip was again just ok. Too well-done and flavorless. A little dry. It was tender though. The carrots served with it needed salt. I'd return. Would like to try other dishes and see what's good.

I genuinely wanted to like Nurys on Main. I really did. Hope springs eternal, especially in…read moreFredericksburg, where good food is usually a sure bet. Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

There is a covered attached patio that helps during their busy times (weekends). Even though they have gotten more popular, their service and food quality have not suffered one iota. You may arrive hangry, but you will not leave hungry. Their portions are generous, and you can even order a breakfast mimosa to jump-start your day. Our Chilaquiles and Huevos Divorciados were cooked and served perfectly. The chilaquiles sauce, always red, was outstanding. Dis and Dat: They are open until 2 PM for lunch, and they have expanded their weekend hours. Verify via their website. Parking is offstreet and the lot is fairly large. Service is exceptional. Their young waitstaff are all well-trained. Don't be surprised if the manager stops by to check on you. We were bummed when Nury's on Main closed as their Pizole was 5-stars but this location is an easy 5-star review.

We ordered coffee ($3 per cup) and water. We were brought the coffee and waters and we ordered. I had the Huevos Rancheros ($17) and my wife had the Fruit Granola Yogurt ($13). Our food was brought out after a bit and it looked good. However, there were problems with both dishes. My wife's dish, advertised a Greek Yogurt was more like they scooped some Yoplait into the bowl instead. There was some fruit chunks, but not near enough to justify the $13 cost. She said the carved strawberry was the best part of the dish and the granola was good, but certainly did not taste homemade. My dish was barely warm, the beans were way too soupy, and I had asked for over-medium eggs, but they came over easy. I sent it back and told the server the dish was lukewarm and the eggs were not prepared as requested. She quickly came back with another plate that pretty much had the exact same issues. Lukewarm beans and potatoes and over-easy eggs. Rather than send it back again, I ate less than half and called it quits. Our bill came to ~$40 and it was probably worth less than half that. Another tidbit is that we had to ask twice for coffee refills. The place was not really busy either. Not sure why it gets 4+ stars because I struggle with giving it 2. Overall, not worth the price and the quality of the food was lacking. Service was decent, but aside from that it doesn't rate another visit. The staff were very friendly so no issues there. We went in on a Friday at 6:00 pm and were the only ones dining. Shortly after one other couple came in. Not sure if it's this dead because summer is over or because it was a hot day but we were surprised how empty it was for a Friday evening. The menu itself isn't bad. No appetizers on the menu but a decent selection of entrees so no issues there. I order the NY strip with grilled Brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes. I'll start with the positive - the steak was ordered medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, there was just very very little flavor or seasoning to the steak - it wasn't bad but I wouldn't order it again. The Brussel sprouts were huge - and I expected they would be 'hard' in the center (as often happens with larger Brussel sprouts) but I was pleasantly surprised that they were perfectly cooked and tender. Unfortunately they were also very under seasoned. One of them had an oil or seasoning on it and it was delicious but the rest had none and lacked flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes were the highlight! Potato skins in them; nice rich and smooth texture and perfectly flavored. Best part of the meal! We also tried the steak tacos which had thin strips of steak in corn tortillas with corn, a sauce and cilantro and came with black beans and rice. The strips of steak were excellent - slightly charred (perfectly) on the outside and flavorful. The sauce had a wonderful flavor to it. The tortillas were very soft and moist. The tacos were very good. The black beans were black beans and the rice was rice - neither were bad and neither were great - no special flavor. Would we come back? If we were staying at the property again we might go back. The convenience is their main selling point. That said, Main Street in Fredericksburg with literally dozens of restaurants is only 3 minutes away. If The Club could 'up' their seasoning, they would certainly be worthy of 4 stars.
