Came here while traveling across the country. Nice little irish pub in Normal. Looks like a typical bar, with the Guinness prints around, and dark wood bars and booths. Server was great, quick, friendly and efficient. Ordered Cork Chop dinner, stuffed chicken breast dinner, Irish Ruben and kids tenders. Kids tenders were the typical order, Ruben was a good size and pretty good. The dinners were large size portions. Chicken was alright, it was cooked fine not dry, same with the pork. Mashed potatoes were not very good, and the steamed veggies tasted like it had cinnamon on it, one person at the table didn't mind it but I was not a fan. Overall, prices are definitely reasonable, especially the drink prices. read more

Irish pub food at its best? Hmmmm, I am definitely into Irish food. Had the Sheppard's pie, and decided to try the Curry slathered fries. Hmm how Irish? We had a party of four and since our company was reimbursing us we had to get separate bills. Not even a hesitation! They said "Oh sure we can do that." Now this was going to be a great evening. I personally started off with a soft drink beverage but the one I choose (cherry coke I think) was not on the refill list. Which of course is okay, I just had to have one and then some water to save. Now the Sheppard's Pie was actually really good. It was toasted on top to perfection with the potatoes and the ingredients were very much Irish. I like that. Not the fake crap you can get on other places. I also had something unusual for an Irish Pub, french fries smothered in curry? (See photo I put up) I was really surprised at the Indian twist but I am totally loving it, its like a poo-tan moment I had in Canada once. You know, like wow! We found Maggie's and when we arrived were told they ran out of food!! Due to Covid they aren't back up to full speed on their menu. The greeter said we could go to other restaurants and bring a takeout in or call somewhere for delivery. We went to bar and had a few beers and met two nice guys. Also met Anthony a bartender. We will stop there on our way home Monday for a few pints with Anthony who is coming in on his night off to have a pint with us. Great place! Wonderful people!! read more

I've played pipes here for St. Patrick's day and I finally had a chance to try the food. I was very impressed with the Scotch Egg (have had that at a lot of Highland Games) and the corned beef was very tender and lean. Service was very good too! My favorite pub! Loved being able to visit again 12 years after I graduated from Illinois State. The food was just as good as before if not better. Perfect Guinness on draft and really enjoyed the salmon sandwich and the ambiance. A true gem in Uptown Normal with incredible service. Loved our drinks and ordered the potato and leek soup which is always delicious. There was a problem with the soup which they corrected quickly and efficiently. Stopped in while traveling through Illinois. Just a chance stop. During covid, so life is not normal....even if you're in Normal IL...ok, that's totally not funny. Anyway, seating outside only....had to wait 20 minutes...which when you're stavinf is a life time. They had the most awesome host/doorman, who a absolutely delighted us while we waited. Just a great guy. When seated, the server was pretty good. Maybe a tad ditzy... young server that was very attentive, but not the greatest with situational awareness. Anyway, happy and attentive is good. The foos was ok...if you live heavy starch and fried you'll be in heaven. I had the veggie burger and it was pretty good.. but was really the only healthy option for anyone past 25. My wife had the fiah and chips. Which looked better good. Anyway, not much of an ambiance...but its covid and where eating in a parking lot. Wouls definitely recommend this place. Especially if you're under 30 and have a strong heart. Kidding. A while back, this was one of my favorite restaurants in Normal. I often came with friends and was always super happy. Once, I went here with my dad and he said it was the best chicken sandwich he ever had. Today I got some chicken tenders, some of the best I've ever had. So really, I guess you can't go wrong with chicken. Also got sweet potato chips this time around, they were absolutely delicious. Server Jess is unprofessional and disrespectful. She was rushing through and bumped into me full force and knocked me down. I confronted her nicely asking why didn't u say excuse me and she kicked me out no discussion. There were witnesses who saw it and said it was not reasonable. Apparently the other workers have to listen to the servers calls. Bullshit considering I got kicked out for a servers harm. Went in with one other friend for drinks. We saw that the dart board was open and no one was playing. My friend put in a $20 and didn't realize there wouldn't be change. No big deal, we'll play a couple of rounds and leave the rest for someone else. Someone comes up and says their group was playing. Not true, but we figured we'd wait and take next. We stood around for an hour and got fed up so I went to talk to the bar manager. "Oh well, there is nothing we can do. Plus you can't prove it," is what he says. Really loved the food. We went on a Friday night and it seemed pretty busy. Our party of 4 ordered the Irish Dip and Patty Melt and both were very good! We got Spud Skins as an appetizer and they were pretty potato heavy, but came with tomato, onion, bacon, cheese, and sour cream you could top them with. The music was a little loud, but we were also right by a speaker and it was around 6:30pm on a Friday night. Great music variety though! We would all definitely go again! read more

I just can't catch a break with the food here. Tonight deserved a downgrade from my previous 'ok' rating. We visited on a rainy Monday after the college students were gone so the place was not busy. Not busy = food should have been perfect. My fish and chips seriously seemed reheated. The chips were soggyish and just warm. The fish breading was soooo thick and also soggy vs. light and crispy. Had dinner at Maggie Miley's with some friends. It was pretty good overall. For an appetizer we had the cheese dip. It was good but I was expecting more flavor. I had the garden salad with blackened chicken for my entree. It was very yum. I especially enjoyed the Thousand Island dressing. The pricing wasn't too bad either compared to similar restaurants. The food did a take awhile, but the service was friendly. I also liked the atmosphere and that we were able to play darts after dinner. read more

We have been coming to Maggie's for almost 20 years. Mostly it has been a very good experience! Whiskey Wednesday is fun and mostly our food has been good over the years. For the past few years, including the pandemic - - which I know is not necessarily indicative - -, the food has not been good. The service has been hit or miss. But I believe that we have reached our breaking point with the food. As a vegetarian, I know I'm in the minority, but I don't try to change what is on the menu and work with it. There are very few things on this menu that work for me but there are a few. The past several times they have been out of the boxty which is just potatoes basically. Which leaves salad, soup, and a dubious veggie burger. Tonight, despite my husband asking when he first got there what they were out of, they said they were only out of chicken. Great! Unfortunately that wasn't accurate and they were not able to provide the boxty which they have not been able to provide, oddly, for many months. The service was okay. But after we had to order another round of drinks because our food was delayed for well over 45 minutes, there was no mention of the fact that we had to wait or had to order anything and no mention of a comp of any kind. I believe that Maggie's may only be a drinking venue and at that a limited one. I'm sorry to see it go off of our rotation but I'm pretty sure that's where we are. Sad. read more

I never really came here when I went to school at ISU but came here on a visit to see my sister, the new redbird! For a friday night it was pretty poppin. We were told there would be a wait so we went to the bar to get some drinks but ended up getting a table within 10-15 mins. Our bartender was great and closed out us in a timely manner. I ordered the Paddy Melt and it was just the right amount of grease after a day of day drinking and running around. It was as good as comfort food can get! This pub exceeded all my expectations. Diverse crowd, great ambiance, good service, reasonable prices and an outstanding drink menu. I had the Irish breakfast with a variety of authentic bangers as well as solid soda bread. My friend had the Shepard's pie and both were outstanding. The food was served rapidly. They had all the brews you'd want from an Irish pub as well as my favorite, Revolution Anti-Hero. I really enjoyed coming here to catch up with a friend. The cork chips were recommended and great. While they were out of my beer of choice (blue moon), they had another beer that was very similar that worked for me. It even came with an orange slice like most blue moon offerings. My fiancee was extremely thrilled that the root beer choice available, while he also had a Moscow mule, he raved about the root beer that he was given. Maggie's is one of our favorite places to get drinks in town. It offers good drinks and a fun atmosphere without the typical "college bar" feel that the Pub or Brew-ha's puts off. $4.75 drafts on Thursdays and $5 Long Irelands keep us coming back. The patio outback is really nice too. Typically good service, but the music can be loud and tickets have gotten mixed up on multiple occasions. After eating at another restaurant near our hotel we decided to walk down the street and we stumbled upon Maggie Mileys. Since it was 4pm and the place was practically empty we decided to walk in. The three of us sat at the bar and waited. 5 minutes pass the bartender is serving the couple on our right their second drink. We sit and we wait, another 5 minutes pass. This time the bartender passes us, leaves the bar and sits at a booth with customers who i assume frequent this place. There is one thing to have bad service but, no service at all?! Go to Pub II instead you'll receive better service, they even have a jukebox! read more
