Not only did Magerk's have great beers on tap and a friendly bartender, but they opened early for us! Believe it or not, it's hard to find a bar open at 10am. After the Baltimore 5K, friends and I were looking for a place to have a celebratory beer. We tried the door to Magerk's, found it open, walked in and had a seat at the bar. The bartender was still setting up and they weren't officially open, but got the cash register open and poured us some beers. New Belgium Red Hoptober is great, btw. And at 10am after only eating a banana and running 3 miles, I only needed one :) read more

Stopped by for a little snackie... sweet potato fries shared with a friend is always a good idea! The menu seems to have a decent variety. It looks like they're known for their subs/cheesesteaks, so I'll have to check them out another time. We came on a weeknight and sat at the bar, and it seemed to be a good kind of busy- not too crowded, plenty of room, but definitely filled with customers. There were 50 cent wings from 7-10 PM but we didn't try any of those. Gotta save something for next time! read more

I went here for a work happy hour and the service was very good. The waitress was super attentive and split the bill easily for us. I had heard people were all like "ooh, MaGerk's has the best cheesesteaks outside of Philly", so I decided to give it a shot. The cheesesteak was above average, but nothing to freak out about. So stop freaking out, would you? Shaved steak, american cheese, on a roll. If you want to have the best cheesesteak you better have a secret ingredient, which MaGerk's does not. The steak was a little on the wet side, leaving the bun a little soggy. Plus, they forgot the mushrooms but remembered to charge me for them. They come with an itty bitty bag of chips and a pickle. I grew up in the suburbs of Philly, so when I found out this was a Philly bar I knew I would like it. What I didn't expect was the cheese steaks to rival the ones I get at home. After my last trip home I was disappointed by the cheese steak I had at the local hoagie shop by my parents house where we've been going for years. I am a huge Magerk's fan. I have been here countless times....both that I remember and have not recollection of...oops, me. However, this is a great laid back sports bar. The staff is pretty friendly and remembers you, which I think is pretty impressive. I love their cheese steaks and bar food but they also offer sushi and wraps for a healthier option. Cheesesteaks are bangin. Wings can be good but they've had their bad days. French Onion soup is nothing to write home about. Sushi is surprisingly tasty and cheap. Careful, the spicy tuna wrap is SPICY. Gets rowdy at night and good beer specials (2$ beers throughout the week). Generally awesome service at the bar altho table service can get slow. read more

I was really disappointed in this place. It was my first time and I was really excited once I saw menu and heard the specials. I ordered a cheesesteak and it took so long that it came AFTER we asked for the bill. We had waited so long and two other tables that ordered after us got their cheesesteaks. The excuse of "the kitchen is slammed" didn't work anymore, since I was looking at 3 cheesesteaks that came out before mine. The moral of the story is Philly food should stay in Philly. Good corner bar in Federal Hill. Located right beside the cross street market. Good location, good food and good atmosphere. Nice place to grab a few beers and hang out with friends during the day. At night Magerks gets pretty packed and is a pretty good time. They have djs and dancing upstairs on the weekends. Visit here and you wont be disappointed. Sushi is suprisingly good too! read more

Went on a Sunday with a girlfriend of mine to grab a drink. We sat at one of the bars and the bartender (cute bartender) was awesome. Entertaining and chatty without intruding on our conversation, incredibly attentive and knew instantly when we needed something. It was $7 pony buckets that day, they gave us 7 in a bucket, usually places give you only 5. The bartender really made our day. I wish I could remember his name to give him some daps. Food is great here, love their chicken cheese steak and beer specials are awesome for HH and weekdays. Super crowded just like all Cross Street bars in Fed Hill, but can't help the crowd that lives around here. Also, my friend left his credit card there one night out and called and they had stored it for him and he got it back on Sunday. They were super nice about the whole thing, that helps to give them five stars. read more

The cheesesteaks are awesome. And you can't beat half-priced cheesesteak night on Thursday nights. Granted, I'm not from Philadelphia, but I've had cheesesteaks in Philly, and there aren't too far behind. This is definitely in my top-3 for happy hour/Orioles pregame locations in Fed Hill. Happy hour specials are pretty good with $1.50 drafts on most nights. Service is hit or miss. You can go in there one day and get your food in 5 minutes; other days it can take a while. The cheesesteak. I first went here because a friend from PA said it was the best one he could find south of Philly. It is indeed excellent. Fresh rolls which is key to a proper cheesesteak. Good steak and prepared perfectly. This is the best I've found in Maryland. Can't speak for the other food. Cool bar and layout. The only issue I have with this place is the clientele. This is a 20 something frat boy college hangout sprinkled with hipsters on a good night and is loud and crowded. Go during they day for lunch, but beware of the aforementioned from happy hour to close....especially weekends. Magerk's are cheesesteak champions!!! read more

Magerks is a great place to watch a Ravens or Orioles game, or just have fun on a Friday night. It offers multiple floors, and lots of tv's. It is not the cheapest in Federal Hill, nor is it the best. However, it is a solid bet. I would recommend Monday nights for their half-off deals on a lot of food (their appetizer menu). read more

The cheesesteaks. Holy hell. Amazing. Get one. So so so good. The best cheesesteak I have had for a while. By far the best one I have had anywhere in or around Baltimore. I know this place is popular, and a major spot for sporting events, but as far as the food goes, they are on top of their game. All I have eaten here is cheesesteaks and wings, but both are really really good. Highly recommended. If you don't like crowds or sports, then be sure to avoid this place during football season on Sundays or during baseball games. Very crowded. But overall, this place is awesome. The place has great feel with lots of wood and exposed brick, like it would be easy to become a regular. The staff was friendly but not the most professional. The food was satisfyingly yummy. The have a menu of different cheese steaks, all of which had a generous portion of meat and cheese without being too greasy. The appetizer portions were kind of skimpy for the price. By far the worst establishment I've been to in Fed Hill. If I could give 0 stars I would. Their food is not as great as they claim it to be, the staff is unfriendly, and nothing on the menu is worth paying for. On top of all this, I went to Magerks's the last two weekends and was denied by the bouncer. He claims my ID is "fake"? I am 22 years old. One bouncer even tried taking my ID and keeping it for himself. Either these guys are just general unfriendly people or Magerk's needs to do a better job training their employees. After these awful experiences with the food, service, and the staff, my friends/family and I will never be bringing our business to this establishment again. read more
