Was in Baltimore for a show at Creative Alliance (highly recommend checking out Get Mortified -- fantastic show!) and stumbled across Pig & Rooster... and wow, what a find. This is the kind of neighborhood bar you instantly want to make a staple every time you are in the area. Chill vibe, and absolutely phenomenal Detroit style pizza. Our group tried four different pies and every single one knocked it out of the park: crispy edges, great toppings, perfect dough. The bartender was awesome too, super attentive and even shared a good laugh with me about a couple of the signs around the bar. It made the experience even better. After a long week, we walked around looking for comfort food to heal our soul on a busy Friday night, and that's how we ended up at Pig & Rooster! Service was fast and friendly, the food came out hot and delicious, and the portions are generous. We started with the mozz stixx, and I failed to get a cheese pull shot but these were loaded! I thought the marinara was a little lacking in flavor and watery, but it didn't stop us from enjoying them. I had the Double Double, which is a burger with two patties. I was looking for a dirty, greasy, delicious burger and this hit the spot. My husband got the meatball sub and it was really yummy. I would have liked more meatball, either cut in half or smaller sizes, it was essentially one meatball per sub half. The Pig and Rooster is another Canton/Baltimore bar that is a fun spot to grab a drink and a bite if you're in the area. There is some outdoor seating and I really like that there are games like giant connect four. The staff are friendly and the drinks come out quick. We really wanted a deepdish pizza ... something local...we asked our neighbor.... so we ordered pepperoni cheese add pineapple- deepdish pizza for doordash delivery with fries.. simple night in for us. I ordered the double double b/c I was SUPER HUNGRY, but both patties were too small for the bun, PLUS very bland and not seasoned at all. I took off one patty and ate the other one solo b/c as I said, I was hungry, and I could only manage one too small patty on the bun. The burger deal came with fries...the fries were too salty. I ate those anyway too, b/c again, hungry. Tryna find the redeeming qualities of this dive bar, which has no ambiance, bad beer, and bad food. This is a small neighborhood dive bar with an incredible menu. The food is hearty and heavy, which is perfect for what we were looking for. The staff was so friendly. We sat at the bar and the bartender chatted with us for 20 minutes and gave recommendations for other local spots and what to eat. Got take out from this hidden gem during COVID because I definitely wanted to try this pizza! It was super easy to find a menu online and I called in my order. The person who picked up helped clarify some new options (I must have been looking at an outdated menu.) He was super patient with me as I asked him to repeat a few things. I arrived a bit later to pick up this really dense pizza that was absolutely delicious. I would recommend if you like thicker pizza. I was so stuffed that I ate this over two days. This is a review for a take out order of their appetizers. Called an order in early evening on a Sunday and talked with a very friendly and helpful employee. I ordered their mozzarella sticks, bbq wings, and chicken tenders. It took about 20 minutes for the food to be prepared. Overall, I wasn't wowed by any of the dishes which is a bummer because I thought this place would have solid bar food. The mozzarella sticks didn't have enough time in the fryer and the breading was pretty thin, so when you picked one up it immediately busted open and was a huge mess. It also didn't have that crispy, crunchy crust that you look for as the contrast to the ooey gooey cheese. The chicken tenders were an ok size but there were only 3 medium sized tenders (for $9) and I actually wasn't a huge fan of the honey drizzle-- either it was too sweet or there was too much of it. Finally, the wings were the biggest let down. There was an ok portion, but they weren't grilled or fried-- no idea what they did to cook them but they had the thickest, most RUBBERY chicken skin I've ever eaten... Bleh! The texture put me off them completely and I only had two. I really hope this visit is an anomaly, because it seems to be a pretty popular place in a great location. I might try them again for a burger or something, but I definitely won't order a high volume of food in case it's a disappointment again. read more

This is the second time I've been here. Like many bars in the Canton area, it's a small cozy bar. What makes it stand out is a very flavorful food selection of smoked items. I typically get the hot wings, which are a good variation on the traditional buffalo wing, with the wings smoked which gives it a wonderful flavor. It's also worth noting that the blue cheese they serve with it is thick and chunky. I've also had the ribs which are equally tasty; you can slide the bones right out with almost no effort. Loved this place such a gem in the heart of canton. So glad we found it!! The music was fun, we played connect four and drank. They have a new chef. Omg the cauliflower sandwich was delicious, the slaw was my favorite and definitely shareable! The pork shoulder taco, omg, you can taste that it's been freshly smoked, sooooo delicious. Our absolute favorite was the special of the night which was a lamb kabob taco with mint horseradish sauce. Definitely needs to be a staple!!!! I want to order this every time!!!! This isn't a smokehouse nor do they serve bbq. They sell deep dish Detroit style pizza. That's the only pig they sell. The rooster I guess is the chicken tenders. Beer is expensive for coming in cans and having to walk to the bar to get it yourself. Mediocre at best. Also women's toilet is ALWAYS broken. read more

Loved it! Great neighborhood vibe with some very friendly locals. Very happy to have seen some Eagles fans in there as we are and we enjoyed watching the game during our visit to Baltimore. Once we figured out there isn't table service and that you order at the bar The service was really fast and friendly. There is a small bar, a few high tops and in the back a couple of big tables. Plenty of TV's to watch sports from all angles. This place might have been a basement in someone's house at one point but the way it's set up now with the side door and windows it feels open and airy. I felt like I was hanging at someone very friendly's house. And it's worth noting that the separate ladies and men's bathrooms are modern, clean, stocked and nothing like the gross bathrooms you usually see at bar restaurants. The food was amazing. My ribs literally fell off the bone. The coleslaw was to die for and the baked beans were amazing. My honey's Wings were so good that he devoured them in a minute. And he really enjoyed the brisket. In the winter, few things warm you up better than a bowl of chili. My roommate was craving a bowl of chili for dinner so a quick search pulled up The Pig & Rooster Smokehouse in Canton. The Pig & Rooster is owned by the same people who own The Chasseur which I've previously been to and loved. The space inside is more of a bar with a few arcade games and a few tables. When we went, there was only one person working the bar so service was a little slow, to no fault of the bartender, he was doing a great job. After briefly looking over the menu, my roommate went with an order of the Smoked Brisket Chili. The chili had hunks of smoked brisket which were tender and delicious, there were also some beans, cheese, chives and sour cream. This chili was a little on the spicy side and it was one of the better/heartier ones we've had around the city. With the chili, my roommate went for an order of the Cornbread. This was a great accompaniment to the chili for soaking up the meaty goodness. This cornbread was a little on the sweet side but still very good and complimented the spiciness from the chili well. For my meal, I went with the Smoked Ancho Chili and Espresso Rubbed Brisket Sandwich. The brisket was incredibly tender and flavorful. I tossed some cole slaw onto the sandwich and it really came together. I was hoping the ancho chili rub would make the sandwich slightly spicier but it was still awesome. It also came with a side of fries which were delicious but nothing noteworthy. I've had a few good carry out experiences: The menu may be small but they serve relatively late, points for me. Very friendly on the phone, orders are correct, substitutions are accommodated for with no up charge. I recommend the turkey sandwich, pulled pork, and the Mac and cheese (unique taste). I got a side of corn on the cob once and it was not good, possible I just got a bad ear of corn but I probably won't try the corn again until next season. read more

I was put on hold or ignored for 20 minutes, so I showed up in person. When I tried to order a pizza, I was glared at and told the digital system was down. I offered to pay cash and asked if they could walk 30' to the kitchen to put in my order. I was denied and rejected. Worst service I have had in years. This was my first visit to Pig and Rooster. They're owned by the same people that own the restaurant up the street 'The chasseur'. I decided to give P&R a try not only because I enjoyed the food that I've had at their other restaurant, but also because their management/staff are very active with the community and are always reaching out to accommodate people's event needs and special requests. I went with my girlfriend and two of our friends on a Saturday afternoon shortly after they opened for the day. The bar has an extremely fresh new remodel done to it with all kinds of fun bar-activities like shuffle board, foosball, golden tee, etc. all of which were brand new. In addition to the new activities available to use, they also had a set of TVs lining the walls (Yes, they have NFL Sunday ticket so you can catch tons of games) They frequently have happy hour specials with discounts, so check their website or give them a ring to find out what's on special for the day. They had about 4 beers on draft, I went with a Yards beer. The menu was limited, I could see a picky eater having a difficult time deciding on something, but luckily we all found something on the menu that we were interested in. My friend and I got the Smoked BBQ Pulled pork sandwiches (He got potato salad, I got fries with a side of honey mustard), my girlfriend got the cheese burger, and our other friend ordered the Italian Smoked Pork sandwich. After we ordered we played a game of shuffle board while waiting. The food came out in a reasonable time and the service was friendly- The Smoked BBQ Pulled pork sandwich I had was really tasty. The bun was nice and soft but able to stay together while eating the sandwich and the pork was cooked perfectly to where it fell apart as you ate it. The sandwich also had Crispy onion straws on it that added an awesome touch. The sauce that was used was a tiny bit spicy and was really flavorful. The burger that my girlfriend had was cooked the way she wanted and was good as well. The hamburger you could tell was handmade and not a frozen patty due to its large thick/round shape, good medium cook to it, and its fresh taste. I'd definitely eat both of these items again in a heartbeat. The Italian smoked pork sandwich came on an awesomely soft baguette but I think this might have been the least favorite of the three sandwiches we had- I only had a couple of bites of it, but the flavors of its contents seemed to combine together into a slightly lackluster taste. The bread to filling ratio was little bit unbalanced too so even though the bread was tasty, the sandwich tasted mostly like the baguette. I also got Honey mustard on the side to dip my fries in and this was one of the better honey mustards I'd had in a while- It tastes more like honey than mustard but has whole grain mustard seeds in it. I definitely suggest you order a side of this to go with your meal. All said and done, this place I suspect will not remain a secret for long. The great happy hour specials and game day specials along with the great food and brand new feel will appeal to a broad range of personalities and will serve as a great space to get together with friends and have some beers. I've also heard that they have a shuffle board league that sounds interesting and is worth looking into if you enjoy shuffle board! read more

Nice open space with plenty of room to stretch out. The craft beer selection wasn't great but Coors Original was on draft and you don't see that everywhere (thumbs up). Golden Tee and shuffle board table were pluses, with a bunch of TV's so you'll be able to watch whatever you want. The food was where they lost me. We got a burger, nachos, mozzarella sticks, and wings. I didn't try the burger and fries, but my friend said it was pretty good. The mozzarella sticks were average, but the sauce was water thin. The wings were definitely smoked, but the buffalo sauce had no flavor. The nachos were terrible. It looks like a couple of other reviewers had said the same thing. My reaction is eh, just ok. Nothing special. This place is right around the corner from my house so naturally I was rooting for an off-the-square restaurant to succeed! Plus, they are recently under new management so I was pretty excited to try P&R. After going there a few nights ago I was sadly disappointed... The menu is small, and in my opinion over priced. $12 for a hamburger, and that doesn't include toppings!!! After all said and done, you'll end up spending more than $20 for a cheeseburger, cheap beer and tip. They're trying too hard to be a smoke house and it just doesn't have that vibe. So maybe they're going for the dive bar crowd? And I do enjoy a good dive bar, especially ones featuring local cuisine! But in my opinion P&R missed the mark on dive bar too... When you walk in, the first thing you notice is that most of the walls are bare. No colorful neon bar signs, old flare, or worn out bar stools. There is just nothing exciting about this place... Wednesday night, Rib Night. Come hungry. I got the full rack of ribs with the beans, slaw and handcut fries. Ribs: cooked to perfection with just the right rub and barbecue sauce. Coleslaw: I dont know what the seasoning was, but it put all other coleslaws to shame. Baked Beans: Sweet and full of flavor. Hand cut fries: just like the boardwalk.
