Such a wonderful bakery to work with. We have worked together a few times and we really were blown away each time. I'm a wedding planner and execution + being on time is a HUGE thing for me, Maegan Bakes never disappointed. Her naked cake is perfection!!! That red velvet is DeVine!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and get Maegan to make your something sweet, you won't regret it!

They were busy with a lot of Mother's Day weekend rush, but the staff was friendly to everyone with big smiles and they were moving the line along as quickly as possible. I picked up my usual favorite slices: Carrot Cake Slice ($8.49), Tropical Coconut Slice ($8.99), and Old-Fashioned Chocolate Slice ($8.99). They were moist and delicious! Sometimes, the Tropical Coconut can be slightly dry, but it was perfectly moist when I had it this past weekend. They had a really cute May 4th Grogu cake on display and I just think that they not only make delicious cakes, but their cake decorating skills are on point! SusieCakes is worth the splurge!

After waiting for someone to help me, I walk up to the counter and ask if it was possible to pick up a cake that I ordered. The result was the male sales representative with a beard rolling their eyes and yelling at me - what's the last name! I'm positive Mothers Day is a very busy day for you all, but no one should be on the receiving end of that type of sass from anyone, especially after paying close to $100 for a 6" inch cake. It definitely killed the excitement for the gender reveal with this cake tainted with attitude.

Parking: They're located in a high foot traffic plaza with a small parking lot so finding an open spot will be difficult. Ambiance/Environment: This is a quick grab-n-go location. No indoor seating. They have four outdoor tables. The donuts are displayed and labeled. Love the decor and vibes. Service: I was greeted immediately every time I entered. Everyone is courteous, quick, & efficient. Doughnuts & coffee: The donuts are surprisingly not overly sweet. Presentation is absolutely eye catching. Their flavors sound intimidating yet interestingly delicious, and it tastes even better. Their flavors sound drinks are a hit or miss. So far, I've only tried their mochas and lattes. Their drinks are sweet. If you prefer sweet drinks, then these are for you. There's plenty of personality in what they're doing, and you can tell they're not afraid to experiment. That being said, I'm still a Krispy Kreme fan at heart.

The prices also are much more expensive, so it's disappointing to pay more for less essentially. It is cute inside, and the designs were still great but sadly, this bakery is not the same and not as delicious. We also asked if they could put buttercream on a sugar cut out cookie, as the old French's used to do that- their buttercream was delicious, and the lady working the register said "I' m sorry, we no longer do that." While I understand this bakery is (unfortunately) not the one that used to be there at this location, I don't understand why buttercream cannot be applied to a cookie.. we are at a bakery aren't we? Aren't bakeries supposed to have buttercream? Quite confusing that that customer service was not there either. A side of frosting to purchase could have been offered or just a small dollop could have been applied but apparently this bakery cannot accommodate a frosting request.

The Vegan Red Velvet Cupcake (which ironically is my favorite even though I'm not Vegan, I just think it tastes better than the regular red velvet cupcake) is 490 calories! Sheesh! But still it's pretty amazing with all of the delicious chocolate. They also make 6" and 8" cakes as well as smaller "individual" cakes. They have a club where you can sign up to get points where you can earn free cupcakes as well as a free cupcake on your birthday month which is awesome! This location is in the shopping center in CDM between MacArthur/Avocado and PCH by the library. Parking is free and plentiful and they also do curbside. However I found it's often quicker just to come inside and get your order yourself. They used to have 2 locations where one was retail and one was curbside but now it's all combined in their old retail location (the left hand side one as your'e looking at the store front). Inside you can order from a kiosk or with a person and they have the rack right when you walk in where they have their pick up orders. I like ordering online so it's easy and fast to pick up the orders and when you order online that adds to your points as well. I love how they have seasonal flavors but the Vegan Red Velvet is by far my favorite flavor! The only place that does a better Red Velvet (imho) is Nothing Bundt Cakes since they put chocolate chips in their Red Velvet cake. But if you're a fan of red velvet, I'd recommend giving the Vegan Red Velvet a try! I like it better than the non-vegan and I think that's literally the only Vegan thing I can say that about!

When we ordered the cinnamon roll, there was no option to heat it up, so we thought they would have done it already. When it was served, it was rock solid. So, we asked them to heat it up. However, after a few minutes, it still wasn't that gooey and the inner core was still pretty tough. Perhaps they could have warmed it up so that it was evenly softened. Overall, the cinnamon roll was alright. It was a brioche roll so you would think it might be lighter and fluffy, but ours was pretty dry. However, the cream on top was insanely good. It carried the roll. The hazelnut twist was kind of what you would expect. A twisted pastry but with a hefty amount of hazelnut-chocolate spread thru the layers. We sat in a little nook, where there was a magnetic black board, where there were word tiles you could rearrange in any way. It was a nice place to just look around at all the sentences the community wrote. Chess tables were also available as extra seating. Overall, the service was good, but could be better when warming up pastries, so that the customer can enjoy them properly!

They had a number which I called and the person on the other end gave a number which I could text more details about what I needed, for how many, my name, etc. Since they were driving and couldn't take my order at the moment I made sure to provide as much info and the time/day. I put the order 5 days before I said it needed it and they agreed it can be done by then. I thought it was easy and I just followed it up with the change of topping on the cake. I explicitly stated to text me if they needed anything else from me since I have never done this before. I probably should've followed them up, but I was busy that week. Since I didn't hear anything afterwards I thought I had secured my order. The day I come to pick up the cake, they tell me they don't have the order. The lady who I spoke to, who I'm assuming was on the phone when I initially called, is telling me I put a request not an order and that I didn't even provide my full name (not true, I did). I'm being told that I shouldve put down a deposit and have a contract with them for the cake. I wasn't provided with any contract or a Zelle username. If I had that information I would've absolutely done it. As a business you should provide the customer with that sort of information. I had no idea and I wasn't told that thru text. Should I have followed up? Absolutely, i know that now. There's no information on the website about a contract or deposit information. Only the phone number that I first called. So they should probably update that if they have so many orders and can't keep track with request. There was a lot of deflection from the lady when i tried to explain my grievance. No apology either for the confusion. I felt crazy because I thought I might've missed their messages. Nope nothing. Only the Zelle information after I had arrive there. Luckily, they had puff pastry ready and told me they could have the cake ready in 15 min, and I really needed the cake so I agree to still do business. When I got the cake it was still warm and they told me to freeze it in my refrigerator for it to set. 15 min to get to my place and the ganache has melted off the top and custard had already spilled out from the sides. I had a long drive afterwards and not even an insulated bag could save it. It did taste good, it's too bad about communication, and everything else.
