Miko's Guest House on Vashon island is a wonderful retreat complete with a private outdoor hot tub. The house is cozy with a wood burning stove, kitchen, and shower and the most relaxing bed. Karen, the owner, put together a welcome basket with wine, cheese, bread, coffee, and other local goodies. Of course, the best part was the hot tub. A day of soaking released a few months of stress. I'll definitely go back.

From the gift basket to the fluffy robes and slippers, we felt so comfortable we would have liked to enjoy a longer stay. The little house is filled with art from local artists, most of which is for sale. The downy bed is the most comfortable I've slept in. There was even a beautifully set table for two waiting for us, and a well-equipped kitchen. Miko's is a perfect spot for two people to settle in for a romantic, peaceful getaway. We celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary there just a few days before Christmas, and look forward to returning.

These have been souped up with a heated floor in the shower room and a gas fireplace. We stayed in Lodge 14 and it was fairly spacious, not creaky, with a king size bed in the main bedroom as well as a little curtained-off annex room with a small bed that worked for our son. The biggest issue at this property is that no staff are on sight. You can reach them via text, but there can be quite the delay in receiving an answer or you may receive none at all. You are especially out of luck if you run into a problem "after hours," which is after 5p. We stayed 2 nights. The first night we discovered the only blanket available for the annex bed was very heavy and way too hot. We had to open all the windows in the room to make up for this, which is nice, but the island is alive with birds starting at about 4:30a, making it too loud to have the windows open. We texted the property manager the following morning asking for a normal-weight comforter, or if they want us to just use the AC (we were hesitant to do that in the chilly weather). They informed me that the lodges' electrical systems are tied to each other, and there would be issues if we used AC in our lodge while the lodge next to it might be using the heat. They brought a lighter blanket, but it was barely heavier than a sheet, so not workable. I ended up having to open all the windows and then wake up at 4a to go back into my son's room to close his windows. Not relaxing. The property had a nice communal space with a wood fire pit as well as a glass fire pit (the latter of these emits very little heat), next to bathrooms and what looks like a inside common room and kitchen, though these were locked... You are given a code for the bathrooms. Night 2, at 7p, we wanted to hang out in the space with the friend we were visiting, and we could not access the bathrooms as our code was not working. I texted the number immediately, but no one ever responded. That was a huge bummer. I guess when you arrive, I would recommend immediately checking out all of the amenities and making sure they work, and your code works with them, as no one will be around to help you later. I was extremely disappointed that no one even responded to me. Pros: - It was clean. - Heaters in the shower room were nice - Shower was nice - Bed was large, though with the usual dips in the mattress that you get with many cheaper hotels. - A staff member did respond to my text after the first night issues, and they did try to help - The communal space was quite nice, even though I wasn't able to experience it all - The lodges are well-insulated - The location is excellent. Cons: - The lodge is pretty sterile feeling. It could be greatly improved with more art on the walls. - Only one sink in the lodge. Used for both kitchen and bathroom. - Not enough linen choices for bedding. - The pillows were absolutely horrific. Like large hard stuffed animals. They did bring us two slightly less stuffed pillows after the first night. These were still too hard and uncomfortable. - No bedside lamp on the left side of the main bed - My access codes to other parts of the property did not work, and no one responded to me about it. - The toilet, which is right next to the main bedroom, has an extremely loud flush. Not ideal during the night. - The couch was gross-looking, very worn. We didn't want to use it. We asked that they provide a blanket to cover it with. They assured me it was clean, just worse for wear. This place is cute and convenient. It could be improved with just a little more care and attention to detail (artwork, rugs, more linen options, nicer pillows). It could also be greatly improved by having one staff member on site, or at least on-call at all hours.

There is nothing available now, this was my last resort in the first place and now I am stuck. I'm in 12 hour work days on Saturday and Sunday and desperately need somewhere to stay so I don't have to tack a 2 hour commute to the beginning and end of my days. And now I am left with no option and 16 hour days. The explanation was "emergency situation", which is exactly what I'm now left with. Since booking, the experience has not been great. I booked via phone on 7/29 and was asked to send a check immediately, so I waited for an email. 4 days later when I was on vacation for my birthday I followed up and was finally given the information. She wanted me to mail a check the next day, but I didn't bring a checkbook on vacation, so I had to do the next best thing and utilize Bank of America's online system to mail a check. This usually takes a week since it's considered "bill pay". I was informed the check was delivered August 9th, and the money came out of my bank account, but she said it was not received. Not a huge deal, just had to call the bank and cancel it, so I sent another check. I had been waiting to hear that it arrived when I am woken up with a text this morning that my reservation is cancelled. So now my husband and I are scrambling and I have no idea what to do. We've already paid our pet sitter and he took the next 2 days off work. Losing money and being stuck is not a fun situation to be in.

We stayed in the Arbor Cottage because it was separate from the other rooms and was its own cottage. There was a nice little deck to enjoy, too. Perfect for playing a board game if you find that kind of thing romantic (maybe we are strange that way...). A jacuzzi is always nice, too. I don't recall this place costing as much when we went a few years back, so $175 seems a little high, but if you've got it to spend, this is a beautiful place to spend it, and taking the ferry to Vashon Island and just driving around is fun, too.

His ad says that you can pay with credit card but he doesnt say that you would be overcharged a 5% if you do so. Also if you pay with cash you dont get a receipt though he charges you all the legal taxes (but still youre asked to provide a credit card just in case...). The reception is his own house which is not new in this kind of lodging business but in this case his house hasnt a proper reception place, instead you are helped in the middle of a hoarding-like dining room where it looks like nobody cleaned in years. Norman Batess mother should have done this better. The cottage I stayed was completely outdated and lack of privacy basically because there wasn't any blind or something to avoid someone to have a look at you while you are trying to get sleep. And I said "trying" because the main road to Dockton is right by the cottage. Somebody broke one of the double-glass slide-door where you get into the house so its not well isolated and some rest of glass were found on the grass. Mold in the bathroom, rusty faucets, suspicious smells are definitely a NO for further booking here. Pros: deers around and a couple of apple trees where you can have a fresh piece for breakfast.

My wife and I recently stayed in one of the cottages for the weekend. The cottage was pretty simple: one bedroom, a bathroom, and a basic kitchen with a small table for two. The building itself was pretty old, but was warm and comfortable. Everything was clean, but some things were run down a bit (the floor was worn out and the appliances were out of date). For $100/night, it was reasonably priced. The cottage was private, though close to the main house that Bob lives in. Bob was really friendly and was willing to share tips about Vashon Island. One nice thing about these cottages is that they're dog friendly, so we brought our pup along for the weekend. He loved it because there is a mostly-fenced big empty field to run around in and it's pretty close to Point Robinson Park and lighthouse. Overall, the cottages are a good value. I would definitely go back to stay there again and the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it's old and out-dated. It's a cozy 4 stars, but not a luxurious 5 stars. It's definitely one of the best cabins out there for the price.

Gorgeous, peaceful, and serene getaway!…read more We recently stayed in the suite above the garage, and it was a wonderful experience. The room is incredibly spacious and well-equipped with a king bed, couch, additional seating, a mini-fridge, and an armoire--the perfect amount of space for two people. The bathroom is equally roomy with a great walk-in shower, and Wi-Fi is available. A few helpful logistical tips for future guests: Accessibility: The entrance is up a beautiful stone stairway to a small patio. There is no elevator, so keep this in mind if you are traveling with heavy luggage. Arrival: Pay close attention to the address signs! The driveway is easily missed and the roads leading in are quite narrow. The Vibe: This is a lovely, no-frills accommodation. Communication is minimal and done strictly via email or phone calls (no texting), and it is cash-only. The owners live on-site and whip up a delicious breakfast every morning. Their fresh-from-the-oven popovers were an absolute highlight--we grabbed a handful to snack on throughout the day, and they were just as good cold! My only minor regret is that I would have loved to explore the beautiful property more, but I wasn't entirely sure which areas were off-limits. Next time, I'll definitely be sure to ask the hosts for a quick property tour. The owners are incredibly accommodating, and this location is well worth the stay. We would definitely return and highly recommend it to future guests!

The breakfast was better than anything I was imagining. We were served fresh popovers and jam, a stuffed avocado half with salsa and egg on top, and a fresh pot of French press. Their dog, Max, is adorable and entertaining. We are moving to the area and we will be recommending to people visiting to stay here.

When we arrived she gave us a tour of the house and showed us to our room! There is a community fridge with water and sodas as well as a Keurig for coffee or tea. There was a welcome basket and bottle of wine that was provided with our stay. Julie told us that we can use their contactless app to put in our breakfast order or utilize the sheet that was provided. She told us that we can pick as little or as much as we wanted. I read great reviews on her homemade granola and definitely had to try it! After breakfast they would give you the sheet to choose breakfast for the next day. Everyday there's something different and everything that we had tried has been delicious! They bake fresh cookies everyday and you have the option to request for them on the menu and if you need your room cleaned. Julie and her staff were all so amazing to us during our stay! We really enjoyed our time here and appreciate their hospitality! Will definitely stay again whenever we visit again!
