His ad says that you can pay with credit card but he doesnt say that you would be overcharged a 5% if you do so. Also if you pay with cash you dont get a receipt though he charges you all the legal taxes (but still youre asked to provide a credit card just in case...). The reception is his own house which is not new in this kind of lodging business but in this case his house hasnt a proper reception place, instead you are helped in the middle of a hoarding-like dining room where it looks like nobody cleaned in years. Norman Batess mother should have done this better. The cottage I stayed was completely outdated and lack of privacy basically because there wasn't any blind or something to avoid someone to have a look at you while you are trying to get sleep. And I said "trying" because the main road to Dockton is right by the cottage. Somebody broke one of the double-glass slide-door where you get into the house so its not well isolated and some rest of glass were found on the grass. Mold in the bathroom, rusty faucets, suspicious smells are definitely a NO for further booking here. Pros: deers around and a couple of apple trees where you can have a fresh piece for breakfast.

My wife and I recently stayed in one of the cottages for the weekend. The cottage was pretty simple: one bedroom, a bathroom, and a basic kitchen with a small table for two. The building itself was pretty old, but was warm and comfortable. Everything was clean, but some things were run down a bit (the floor was worn out and the appliances were out of date). For $100/night, it was reasonably priced. The cottage was private, though close to the main house that Bob lives in. Bob was really friendly and was willing to share tips about Vashon Island. One nice thing about these cottages is that they're dog friendly, so we brought our pup along for the weekend. He loved it because there is a mostly-fenced big empty field to run around in and it's pretty close to Point Robinson Park and lighthouse. Overall, the cottages are a good value. I would definitely go back to stay there again and the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because it's old and out-dated. It's a cozy 4 stars, but not a luxurious 5 stars. It's definitely one of the best cabins out there for the price.

Located on a bluff above Eagle Harbor, there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy the massive expanse of water and sky. A curving set of wood and stone steps lead down to the water where one can barbeque, go kayaking, sit and relax, or walk on the beach. I saw an eagle swoop on some cormorants that were sitting out on a floating dais (they dove and easily escaped him). The view of Mt. Rainier from the beach is unique and if one walks down a ways one can see the Seattle skyline. The place is everything it is advertised to be: the windows overlook Eagle Harbor with the ferries coming and going, the kitchen is well equipped and the stove has gas burners, the bed is very comfortable, the television has more channels than I would ever watch, Wi Fi is free, the bathroom is clean and the showerhead is powerful. The owners were friendly and honored my privacy. Photographers, artists, birdwatchers, couples, small families, kayakers, an individual looking to relax - I could go on - will all find something here. I found true peace and quiet.

The view was stunning and I loved watching the ferry go back and forth each day. The weather was beautiful and I was able to sit outside at the cute table and chairs Claes and Jenny have out on the patio. The inside was very clean and cozy and the wood burning stove was awesome! The owners live upstairs but I never heard/saw them, however, they make it very clear in the information they email you that should you need ANYTHING during your stay don't hesitate to just let them know. It was private, quiet and beautiful. For someone who only gets one vacation a year, it was exactly what I needed and as mentioned, I will definitely be back next year!

It definitely fits right into the scenic area of the light mountains just west of Seattle. Surrounded by tall fir trees and crisp air, with no reception, it's truly a wonderful escape. I was there with an advocacy group, called RESULTS, and there was a Men's Church Group there on a retreat, as well. This beautiful site includes 120 wooded acres of which 40 have been developed with cabins, lodges and outdoor recreation areas for guest use. The log cabins are designed to hold 10 people. Each cabin is assigned a name (Mathers for example) and number (1-11). There's a little porch on the front. Enter the cabin and there's a medium sized common room with benches, a small table, and a tall shelf. The shelf in our cabin held extra blankets and below it were baskets for laundry upon departure. Each side of the cabin has 3 single beds and a bunk bed, so 10 total beds, and then its own bathroom. Each bathroom has two sinks, a good sized private shower, a toilet, and plenty of space to walk around. Behind the sink are nice wood window sills, with windows that could be wound open, and then a soap dispenser to the side. Each cabin side also has plenty of towels for each person and the beds have clean sheets, blankets, and a pillow on them. The towels could certainly be softer; they're pretty rough, but the blankets and sheets were very soft and comfortable. The bed was surprisingly comfortable! What a quality mattress for a cabin. My only other complaint about the cabins is that the lighting is too rough. It's very bright fluorescent lights on the ceiling. Incorporate some lamps and maybe even softer towels and the cabins would be perfect. There are nice hiking trails all around the cabin and you can hear the sounds of birds rustling through the trees. It's just beautiful. The Madison Lodge is right on Lake Flora. You can rent canoes or kayaks to go explore the lake. We didn't have time for that, but it was so nice to see. During the days, we spent time at the lodge. Breakfast was served from 8am to 9am. Really good breakfast! On the first day it was eggs, pancakes, sausage, and then there was cereal and oatmeal daily. The next day had delicious crispy bacon instead. Lunch was very good: sandwiches one day and burgers the next. Lunch and dinner always had salad and each meal also included a vegetarian option. Quite impressive! Marc managed the front lodge, Madison I believe, and the cooking crews. Really friendly guy and all very nice staff. During the course of the three days we were there, I was without any personal belongings since United had lost all of my stuff. Marc was incredibly kind and accommodating to ensure I had options for communication and brightened our long days with his friendly demeanor and good quality care. In the evening, we enjoyed exploring a little. It's a United Church of Christ location. So, there was a small chapel, but the chapel was more a room of expression with tiles and even chairs decorated to reflect causes, social justice, support of LGBT, inspirational quotes, and more. Next to the little Chapel room there was a phone room with an old red square phone with a long windy cord. Off of the main room there was also an Art/Game room and a Rec room with a ping ping table. We just borrowed some card games from the Art room and really enjoyed those. Great space. I was so glad that RESULTS took advantage of such a fantastic location to remove us from all chaos and just get down to talking about our issues: health, education, and alleviating poverty.

We were staying in Wallingford #5…read more The overall quality was good for a short term stay and I think it is a bit cheaper than equivalent options on Airbnb. However, the suite did not have a dishwasher, AC (it had a fan), and hairdryer. The vacuum cleaner was smelly and old. However, it had HD tv, cable, and internet. We also had a satisfactory maintenance experience; they repaired the bathtub tap leakage after contacting them. I had read reviews about people experiencing the invasion of their privacy by the landlord checking their apartment without previous notice. Just wanted to also mention we did not have any problem regarding that and the staff were nice people. I also wanted to mention that our security deposit was 600 which was returned fully. They received 250 cleaning fee at the beginning which was separate from the security deposit. The only problem is that they warn you that if the apartment is not cleaned (bathroom, kitchen, ...) before leaving they will deduct excessive cleaning fee from your security deposit (they also say the staff will be there just to do a light housekeeping.) I think this warning is a bit absurd because even if they hire a third party company for cleaning the apartment, $250 would be enough for cleaning rather than a light housekeeping.
