Beer is good for fledgling brewery. 3rd time here and they are getting better all the time. Food is good with a few signature dishes. The one area they really need to work on is service. They are nice but when you enter and there are few to no customers they take FOREVER to get started with even a drink order. Every time I come here it is the same so not a fluke. Get a little more attentive tho this and we are at least 4 stars. More as they improve their beer craft. read more

The food here is amazing! Roberto the owner definitely has pride of ownership. He prepared and presented us our food himself and shows great interest in making sure his customers are happy. We had Pork Street Tacos, Creamy Garlic Shrimp, Tortilla Soup and Chips and Salsa. The best food I have ever had. Seriously! Every dish was excellent and the service was great too. We enjoyed their signature drink also, Huckleberry Lemonade. Not too sweet and very refreshing. Madras Brewing Co. is located in the town of Madras on Hwy. 97 in the business center South of the Texaco gas station. You can't miss it. Be sure to stop by on your way through town. Came in to try the beer, ordered the Mexican stout and was not disappointed. Rich flavor with a great aftertaste of cinnamon and vanilla. Also tried the Cubano sandwich which was delicious. Fried are average crinkle cut frozen fries, would have earned a 5 star with a natural cut instead. Waiter was great, he was really hustling to serve 10 tables, probably 40 people with little or no help. Will be back to try dinner. read more

No good review here. They close at 10pm. Not. 9:45 pm and they were closed. Not good for business.

Staff was short staffed on a Tuesday evening but they were very open and honest about the wait times due to that and being busy. Server also said he did not want to serve the Yakisoba noodles as they did not turn out right so order teriyaki chicken and when we said we did not want the rice, he substituted with a green salad. The hibiscus salad dressing was AMAZING! Coworkers had the pulled pork sandwiches and said they were great. Appreciated the staffs honesty from the start. Made for a better night read more

Been a while....made a little road trip for what I thought for lunch and maybe get lucky with a decent beer. What a surprise on both ends. Lunch was tasty, Cubano and Philly. The extra good part was the Suds-n-Dust IPA. Excellent beer, worth the drive alone. Really a 4.5 star, just hard to give a 5. If you are driving north on 97, you can't miss it. read more

I ordered the fish and chips from DoorDash and when I opened the containers it had like 5 lil nuggets in them and ton of fries paying $50 for dinner and instead paid $20 ea plus tip for appetizer. Stopped in for the first time. We had the ribs and pulled pork sandwich both of which were tasty. They have a lot of cute touches as far as decor- loved the barrel lighting fixture! They have some outdoor seating and some cute indoor wooden tables/bar. Great music playing. Friendly staff and great beer, I had the Mexican porter and it was tasty! Compared to some of the food at the breweries in Bend it's not quite up to par, but the heart of the place and the flavors are all there. Will be back! read more

This is a new restaurant in Madras; we tried the same spot a couple years ago when it was Italian and it was great. We arrived and sat outside with our dogs; dogs allowed on patio. The waitress came out immediately and took our drink order; nice selection of beer. Waitress "highly recommended" the ribs and osso Bucco. So we ordered both. Chips and salsa to start. Decent beer and chips/salsa came out quickly. A salad appeared with good citrus dressing. Then we waited. A long time. Other people joined us on the patio, some got their meal within a very short time. We continued to wait. Finally asked why the wait and told "the kitchen lost your ticket, they are fixing it now". 5 minutes later our plates arrived. The ribs were tender and ok, decent sauce, spare amount of cole slaw, overwhelming amount of fries. Not bad, not great. The osso bucco, however, was less appealing. Lots of what appeared to be "canned orange tomato sauce". No spice. No flavor. Totally tasteless. And worst of all, it was barely warm; as we got closer to the bone it was stone cold, not warm at all. We could only imagine this was pulled out of the deep freeze and microwaved to serve. We informed the waitress when she stopped by, then she brought our check, minus the osso bucco. Thank you comping the OB. In summary, maybe try the fish and chips or fish tacos, they came out quickly. Positives: good beer, dog friendly, friendly service. read more

First off let me say we ordered a pizza and it was great! All the ingredients were fresh, the crust was delicious, and it was cooked perfect. I would go back to get the food. The beer was really good too! I got the Pilsner and my husband the stout. They were both just as described to us and we were very happy with them. With that said, here are the reasons why this review gets three stars; As mentioned before the music is 70's ballads. I'm not apposed to that style of music and to listen to it from time to time myself. but I don't want to be eating listening for sappy sad love songs the entire time. Seriously it got to be kinda depressing. Our waitress at first seemed annoyed when we got there and I don't even think we saw her smile once. We figured out why when she suddenly disappeared and a new waitress took her place. We got there at the end of the first waitresses shift and she was ready to go home away from the sappy slow-dance songs. The second waitress we had was really sweet and happy. Quite a contrast from our first waitress. The atmosphere is seriously lacking. They invested into a dozen TVs rather than artwork for the walls. Not a big deal but it was noticeable. Lastly, prices were not what we would expect in madras. If I had eaten at this exact restaurant in bend I would be like "okay sure I'll spend this crazy amount of money for food" but in madras I would not. It was a shock when we open the menu, hence us only getting one pizza and beer. read more

Beer was good. The service was decent. We had the Smoked pork sliders and Angus Burger. Both of those were great. Before that we ordered some Nachos. Those were garbage, and the avocado on top didn't appear edible. I would come here again but definitely avoid the nachos. read more

Went to lunch there with co-worker. Seemed like the food was over priced and expensive for portion size. I had a sandwich and it was tasty and good but not great. Since it was a work lunch I didn't partake in the beer selection. Service was acceptable and like I said the sandwich was decent but on the expensive side. A lovely, re-done pub with an up-scale look. We got there on about 8 on a Saturday night, and got instant service. The beers (IPA and Pilsner) were great, we had the pork BBQ and the Tossed Salad with fish fillet--top marks for using romaine lettuce instead of iceberg. Food was excellent, the staff were great. If the french fries had been steak fries we'd be in heaven. They had retro 80's MTV videos on 2 screens and it was GREAT to watch Dire Straits, U2, Guns n Roses, etc. 'way back when' they were all so young. Noise level was low, easy to have a conversation over dinner, a real plus when you're tired of noisy restaurants with blaring music. read more

Started out with no rum, our preferred drink. Waitperson seemed cold and distant. We both ordered the ribs. They were extremely greasy and served with a sauce unlike any BBQ sauce I have ever tasted, and hope I don't taste again. Stopped in to break up the drive from Olympia to Bend. We got here early in the day - right as they were opening. The service was great! We got a bunch of samplers and settled on a couple very delicious beers. The owner also made us complimentary mixed tequila shots that were amazing. We will be back here! read more

Came here with my brother and his wife. We were excited to try it out and had high hopes it would be great. The decor and atmosphere was warm. The younger bartender was friendly as she greeted us and let us know to sit anywhere we liked. It went downhill from there. Our server came around after a long wait and was cold and distant; acting like she wanted anything but to be there and serve us. We decided to order the flight of beers from their brewery and to our surprise, the beers were flat and warm. We also ordered an expensive (7$) pretzel that came to us small, reheated and dry, with a thick film on the dipping sauce. Apparently our server was changed to a different one mid service and our new one kept asking us if the pretzel is the ONLY food we want in an aggressive manner. At that point we weren't going to stay and deal with anymore bad service, bad drinks and bad/expensive food. I hope they change for the better. read more

I really wanted to like this place. The only reason I gave it two stars (not one) is because I think they mean well. Madras is the perfect stop for our monthly trips from Portland to Bend. Unfortunately the food was, well, not good. My house salad was so very basic with a not so great commercial dressing. I ordered the shrimp in a creme sauce and the shrimp were limp and in a bland sauce. The menu said the shrimp comes with bread (which makes sense because if you have a yummy creme sauce you need it to soak all up). I didn't get bread and when I asked for it the waitperson seemed surprised. Eventually they brought be a plain, white, toasted hamburger bun. My husband ordered a pizza. I told him that with only 3 pizzas on the menu it was a risk. Well it was a risk. The fact that it was a frozen pizza was obvious, and after tasting it he realized it was a bad frozen pizza. The owner came out at one point and was super nice. And our waitperson was well meaning and friendly but it wasn't enough to make up for the food. We know it's sort of new and maybe with some review/feedback they can step up their game. We'd sure like a good brewpub on our drive, fingers crossed. read more

First time dining at Madras Brewing and it was a slam dunk! I had the spicy chicken sandwich, expecting your regular grilled chicken sandwich, but instead got probably the best chicken sandwich I've had in years or maybe ever. The chicken was marinated and moist, perfect thickness (pounded thinner just right), and the spicy sauce and cheese with avocado slices made a delicious combination inside of a fresh sandwich bun. The fries were really tasty and perfectly crisp. We lucked out and had some talent performing jazz while we were dining, so the ambiance was terrific. My husband had the Philly cheese steak sandwich and was really happy with it, as well. We'll be back for more! read more

"They" call it a New York steak. The rest of the world calls it a Chuck Steak. NY Strips don't have 2 layers of silverskin, excessively long grain, and aren't even close to round. If you look at a T-Bone, the New York is the big side (unless you're looking at a Porterhouse, but then if you don't know what your looking at....I'll take you to dinner!). Maybe "New York is the name of a meat wholesaler in this area. Honestly, I don't know how they get away with it. Good char, good flavor (like all chuck) but very poorly cooked. Maybe an off night? Don't know don't care. I'm not big on their Brews. I think they are well done, just don't appeal to me. All in all; no reason to go back. Best Fillet in Town: Castor. Madras does have some really nice cutting boards. They should sell those. Now THOSE, I'd go back for! read more
