Madonna Estates is a smaller, intimate winery in Napa, CA. I was driving through Napa Valley, Carneros region. We needed a rest stop. We eyed signage for this winery. As we rolled into the lot. Never been here before. We noticed it was smaller than the other wineries we drove by. Bigger is not always better. There was an outdoor seating area next to the entrance. Very tranquil with the soft babbling sound of water from the water fountain and beautiful country views. Simple and calm, not grandiose. But to get to the restroom, you have to walk through the open shop and tasting room which is not particularly large. Very cozy space. Interior is basic, not flashy. The woman working was so welcoming and easy to talk with. Upbeat, welcoming attitude. No side eyes when asking about the restrooms. No pressure to purchase anything but extremely knowledgeable and engaging. $30 tastings for five wines. The shop sold bottles of wine, artisan local snacks, and branded merchandise. They are open daily 10am-5pm, and welcome walk-ins for wine tastings. We found out from her that the winery is family ran and has been in operation for over a 100 years. That's a testament in itself. read more

I visited Napa about a month ago and this place was such a wonderful stop on our drive from San Francisco to Calistoga. We stopped in just to try a few wines before finishing our drive. The staff here was kind enough to allow my husband and I to split a tasting since I was driving. The wines were good and reasonably priced. The ambiance was great in the pretty patio and perfect weather. Overall, I would love to come back and vineyard hop these small vintors on my next trip instead of doing all the major ones like we did this 1st trip to wine country. read more

I took a wine tour in Napa valley and this was our first stop. The wine was delicious and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. She explained at great length about the process of making the wines as well as the lineage of how it came about. The wine was organic and really boasted bold flavor. Wow - what a great experience! We were warmly welcomed by Caitlyn. We did the "5 red" tasting. What I really liked is that the family owns all the vineyards they get their grapes from. Caitlyn took great care to explain the wines and the history of Madonna Estate. The Caitlyn was so enthusiastic and happy with her job that we couldn't help but have a great time. While the inside was very nice, we opted to sit outside and enjoy it. As an extra bonus, if you purchase a bottle of wine, the tasting fee is waived. We opted to buy a bottle of the Merlot. This was the last stop of our bus tour with Greyline tours. This was a bit boring compared to the first two stops where we got to walk around larger vineyards while tasting the wine. We were confined in a room that looked like a bar/ retail/ tasting room (idk I wasn't paying attention after wine tasting all morning) and tasted all the wine there. The bathrooms stunk throughout the entire space (not sure if it's a plumbing issue or someone blew it up before we got there) so I didn't even dare to enter. The wine tasting seemed rushed even though there was a lot of information given about the family that has owned and ran the place for a few generations now. We then were invited to sit outside where there are tables at the entrance. That was weird. I love that this place is family owned and operated but the tour fell flat for me. I didn't really enjoy the wine either. read more

This was our first winery stop last month when we hit Napa and I'm so glad it was! We were treated to a great storytelling and tour by Caitlin. And the tasting wasn't rushed, which I really appreciated. She was friendly, accommodating, knew so much about the product and was a great salesperson, lol. I bought 4 bottles of the Estate Chardonnay and I'm not a big white wine drinker anymore, but it was a lovely wine. We also loved the Merlot and the Cab. She shipped all of them to me, so easy, no fuss and they arrived in a timely manner. They have a fun gift shop and I bought several items. Definitely make this a stop on your tour! read more

Giving it 1 star for the wine - and 0 for customer service. The wine is great and is the 1 thing they do well. Customer service, reaching someone who can answer questions, transparent information about clubs & offerings, answering the phone - that's all 0 stars. Moved to California, Sonoma County recently and joined one of the wine clubs - for the wine which is great. That's when it all went downhill. The contact person they give for the club never returns emails or has an out of office response if they are not there . Credit card got charged for wines not disclosed in club letter - took weeks to get a refund. Communication is poor and lacking. Joined another wine club and it is a night & day difference in the communication & customer service. My advice is buy the wine, don't waste your time on anything else. read more

Looking for a dog friendly winery and found Madonna. Their Chardonnay is now one of out favorites! Our pourer was Teri, and she was wonderful, and felt like someone we've known for years, and yet just met. While our typical go to has been Calistoga and St. Helena, Madonna will now be one of our go to spots!! read more

I visited Madonna Estate on a Napa / Sonoma tour, and what stood out at this establishment is the intimate space and close ties to the original founding family of the winery. We were served four wines on our tour, one in the fermentation room and the others in the main tasting area. Our tour guide was energetic and engaging, and she instructed us on how to properly aerate, smell, and taste our wines, as well as how to use the "correct" vocabulary to describe the sensory experience (appearance, aromas). While the tour itself was enjoyable, this was the only winery we visited that didn't show us the vineyards or the rest of the estate. In addition, there was limited outdoor seating, and the indoor tasting space was standing-room only. The wines we tasted showcased the versatility of the winery's production, and our group ended up purchasing the crisp and refreshing sparkling wine we were served at the end of the tour. read more

This was below mid! Ahhh I feel awful even writing this! The individual presenting (a Caucasian man with a big belt) the wine tasting was sooo dry! I felt like I was getting a lecture rather than going wine tasting. It was TOO MUCH information! This was the last stop of our grey line tour and it was anything but the cherry on top. Wines were below mid and in addition - the individual presenting about the wine went on to unnecessarily scold a child who was actually quite well behaved throughout the entire tour (at the other wineries). It gave me the ick. Wine tasting is about feeling relaxed, enjoying the scenery, and good vibes. Go to Artesa instead! read more

After being turned away from every winery for lack of reservation (Napa has really changed, and not for the better) my family and I ended up at Madonna where no reservation was needed. We were welcomed right in and had INCREDIBLE service from Andrew and Terri. It felt the way Napa used to - warm, welcoming and unrushed. We ended up buying several bottles of a few of their reds and quite frankly, staying the entire afternoon because we loved the staff. I have no plans to return to Napa because of the cultural/environmental changes to the industry and therefore, wine tasting experience, with the exception of Madonna, where I will absolutely return to. read more

I visited Madonna Winery in July 2018 during a solo motorcycle trip. Initially a bit confusing as when I entered the first tasting room and found it fairly busy, one of the staff asked me to go to the next building. I exited and walked over to find it closed up and dark, so I went back to the original one, some discussion between staff ensued but was worked out and my server (a friendly, helpful woman whose name I unfortunately don't remember) showed me their list of wines, asked me some questions about my preferences and made some suggestions. I tried a number of wines and she even opened up a couple of the reserves for me. Everything was quite good and she told me the history of the winery while I sipped. I was interested in buying some bottles for home, but the motorcycle wasn't really appropriate for carrying it, so my server helpfully noted that if I bought a full case, I would receive 10% off and free shipping, and I could pick and choose what I wanted in the case rather than having to order all of one type. I took advantage of this and have been enjoying my wines for like 4 years now. Overall a fun tasting experience with good deals on cases. read more

This place looks like a definite stop for many winery tours. The wine spiel was pretty monotonous and not very entertaining. The wine tasting is a solid $20 but they "added" extra wines so tasted 5 different wines from dry to sweet. Bear with me as I'm not educated on all the wine terms but most were lackluster, heavy on the alcohol aroma/taste, not much flavor. Our 3rd stop on our Sonoma/Napa Valley wine tour. It was probably the least "fancy" of the bunch, with a dated tasting room that appeared due for renovation. Despite the aesthetics, we found the staff extremely friendly. We got a tour of the barrel storage area as well as the labeling machinery. I did not enjoy their reds too much, but I did like their Gewürztraminer. Overall, a smaller friendly winery. Because of the small physical space, I would say it's not ideal for larger groups. I would also take away a point for being a bit dated. read more

Madonna Estate was such a wonderful experience. We came here for a birthday celebration for my brother, my mother, and myself. Our host, Issac, really made us feel at home. He was very knowledgeable and had such a positive attitude. He answered any and everything question we had. You can really tell his passion for working for Madonna Estate. Now, to talk about their wines. I am a beginner wine drinker myself but each wine we tasted was pleasurable in the palate. We liked everything so much, we ended up buying 8 bottles. My cousin and I also became members ourselves because we enjoyed the experience so much. I also liked how they had suggestions for what food to share each wine with, especially for us beginners. I highly recommend Madonna Estate to your visit in Napa. Although they are a very small winery, the attention they provide to their guests and the passion each staff member has for their job makes you really feel at home. read more

Visited this winery on a tour this week and thought it was so-so. I was a big fan of the Chardonnay but their reds were very skippable/borderline undrinkable. Got the hard press to sign up for the Wine Club, in fact the guide spent more time about buying stuff than telling us about the wines/wine making process. Pours were on the very small side, barely 3 sips per glass. Seating area/vineyards are right on the road so not very relaxing. We visited in 2017 and I have been a Wine Club member ever since. The Reserve Wines are top notch. I have read the reviews and I am no sure if some of the bad reviews just don't know well made wine. This winery produces wines like you get in Italy. Very well made and not particularly expensive. They are a small batch winery so they don't produce a bunch, but the quality reminds me of Tuscan wines in Italy. The tasting room is quaint and obviously has offended some of the visitors, but I had a great experience. Brette assits me when my orders are shipped. It is a good idea to watch for the Reserve Pinot Noir and The Cabernet Sauvignon. Both are in the top echelon of the Napa wines that are well known. The Chardonnay is not as buttery but more crisp and it quite good as well. I hope they keep with the family tradition! read more

Final winery on our wine tour, the main difference here is this winery is organic. By the time we got here most of the group seemed like they were done with drinking wine!! Wines to begin with were the whites not bad good wines , followed by Rose .. good Rose & some reds, I skipped the reds this time. This winery was more about learning about the wines & process, some cool tools to buy & lots of souvenirs & wines of course. They had a nice set up where u can charge your phones very helpful.
