I haven't been this excited about a place in a while! I was a little weirded out by the loud music from the outside but the interior of the restaurant was beautiful. Very romantic and inviting. The servers were always going around anticipating what customers needed. The food was delicious and fun. The basque cheesecake was to die for. My family visited Mado at the Yorkdale location on Christmas Day. This place is absolutely 'LIT' (literally) on the outside with all the fairy lights! They have all-day Turkish breakfast, entrees of all sorts, and LOTS of dessert and Turkish treats. They also have an area where you can purchase merchandise! The outside is rather plain compared to what you see on the inside, from the bakery that houses numerous items to the ice cream counter next to it. The decor and feel of the place are great. While it was a pleasant atmosphere to eat in, the food and service were just OK - maybe even slightly below expectations based on the interiors alone, and the prices are much higher than the other restaurants around it - seemed more for the novelty of the food than the quality or quantity. The meatballs I ordered were filling, but nothing that made my mouth water or my stomach grumbling for more. The lone server seemed more preoccupied with the guests (friends?) in the far corner of the room than he did with me or other diners, but he was friendly enough. I'm not sure why they don't serve water as soon you sit down - instead, each table has a few sealed water bottles that I wasn't sure was part of the menu because no one explained it. I walked out with an okay experience but probably wouldn't come here again unless it was the only thing in the area. This restaurant was highly recommended and did not disappoint. It wasn't too busy when we went and our server was very attentive. We're not Turkish and she took the time to explain a few of the dishes to us. We ordered Turkish tea, chicken shish kebab, Mado pizza (pictured), ice cream and Turkish delight (not pictured). I finally had the opportunity to try Mado. The dishes remind me of Istanbul. The staff are friendly and the design of the restaurant is amazing. They offer their breakfast selections all day, so my friend and I chose to split the Traditional Breakfast platter ($17.99). The roasted green pepper and tomato comes in a dish in the center with a lid, and my friend and I only discovered this wasn't decorative toward the end of our meal For dessert, I got the Classic Kesme Ice Cream ($15.99). This is a really heavy ice cream, as it's made out of goat cheese. The desserts are large and heavy enough to all be shareable, in my opinion! AMBIANCE | MADO has such a nice interior. We had to ask a few times for water while he went back to chatting to his girlfriend in the corner. He was not attentive nor did he say sorry for forgetting our water when asked a couple of times. He just talked to someone else and told them to get our waters without a response. The place is so beautiful, but the food wasn't that great. The pasta was super mushy and is supposed to be a Fettuccini Alfredo but tasted only of pesto and oil (which would have been fine if that's what was ordered). There was no cream at all (as seen in photo). The pizza... Was like those frozen mini pizzas at home . I ordered dessert but was too dissatisfied so I canceled it. However, being allergic to peanuts, I did not appreciate that they did mot inquire about allergies, and then placed some peanut butter on the tray. Super cute spot for Turkish brunch! The parking lot is hell, but once you get inside you're greeted by the super nice decor and a very spacious interior. We ordered the Mado Grand Breakfast, which allowed us to sample a number of different dishes as well as cheeses, fruits, and spreads to pair with bread. It also comes with Turkish tea with tea refills. Portions were very filling, we were stuffed by the end of the meal. I am so happy Mado chose to open their first North American location in Toronto. This place feels like a small piece of Turkey that was transported to Canada. It is the ultimate Turkish dining experience - from the traditional Turkish breakfast to their bold Turkish coffee, Mado didn't miss anything!!! It is one of the rare occasions when the restaurant has both the ambience AND amazing food. I had their shakshuka which was served with bread pita, their beef wrap, traditional tea, Turkish coffee and baklava. It all tasted exactly like the ones I had in Turkey and so authentic. The location is a bit strange and little bit to find that is tucked away in a small little plaza in the busy street of Dufferin to get into the parking lot. The decor and interiors design is beautiful and well done! The restaurant wasn't too busy on a weekday night with tables still available. After looking at the menu the prices were pretty expensive, the tradition breakfast was already $26.99, Iskander Beef was $29.99, and Chicken Cajun was $27.99. The price is ridiculously expensive, the portions are too small, the wait time to be served and receive food is too long. Came here today for my friend's big birthday. My friend picked the place as she has never tried Turkish food. It was us three girls. My one friend suggested we get this grand breakfast. It looked like a huge portion in the picture of the menu. We ordered a jug of lemonade that came with some snack cakes. The jug of lemonade came but we didn't get any glasses. They also forgot our snack cakes until we asked. Our food came and I thought it was a portion for one person. Asked the server and they confirmed it was for two people. As seen in photos, there's a few pieces of fruit, some cheese, some jams, a simple salad. What wasn't pictured was two pieces of bread and a skewer with some cheese and a plate of fries, and scrambled eggs. All the ingredients were fairly inexpensive items so to charge $50 dollars is ridiculous. I could've gotten a steak and eggs elsewhere. I'm not someone to complain but I felt like we were being ripped off big time. I requested to speak to a manager but spoke to a girl who said she couldn't do anything. We pointed out the picture in the menu and said what we got was nothing close to the picture. She advised us that was a ten person portion. A restaurant who would wanted return customers would be offered us something or taken something off our bill. I used to work in the industry too. Anyways, this is the first and last time I will ever go to this place. If you don't mind spending an arm and a leg on some cheese, jams and fruits, otherwise avoid the place at all costs.
