Chocolate Milkshake
Cherrie T.

My family visited Mado at the Yorkdale location on Christmas Day. This place is absolutely 'LIT' (literally) on the outside with all the fairy lights! They have all-day Turkish breakfast, entrees of all sorts, and LOTS of dessert and Turkish treats. They also have an area where you can purchase merchandise! I would recommend: - Appetizer platters to share! - Chocolate Milkshake - Fried Eggs with Sujuk (sausage) - Fettuccine Alfredo Chicken & Mushroom If you're celebrating a birthday, you'll be in for a surprise! Such a great spot for large group gatherings too!

Huge portions, a great variety, basically a buffet without being a buffet and you can take home leftovers! My favorite thing was the cheese, and the meal comes with tea too which is a huge plus.

The interiors of this restaurant, as others have shared, are dazzling. So spacious and brightly lit, as if you're stepping into a palace or a really nice hotel lobby. The outside is rather plain compared to what you see on the inside, from the bakery that houses numerous items to the ice cream counter next to it. The decor and feel of the place are great. While it was a pleasant atmosphere to eat in, the food and service were just OK - maybe even slightly below expectations based on the interiors alone, and the prices are much higher than the other restaurants around it - seemed more for the novelty of the food than the quality or quantity. The meatballs I ordered were filling, but nothing that made my mouth water or my stomach grumbling for more. The lone server seemed more preoccupied with the guests (friends?) in the far corner of the room than he did with me or other diners, but he was friendly enough. I'm not sure why they don't serve water as soon you sit down - instead, each table has a few sealed water bottles that I wasn't sure was part of the menu because no one explained it. I walked out with an okay experience but probably wouldn't come here again unless it was the only thing in the area. For these prices, you might as well as dine at one of the fancy mall establishments just a couple blocks away.

Turkish tea.

This restaurant was highly recommended and did not disappoint. It wasn't too busy when we went and our server was very attentive. We're not Turkish and she took the time to explain a few of the dishes to us. We ordered Turkish tea, chicken shish kebab, Mado pizza (pictured), ice cream and Turkish delight (not pictured). The food was flavourful and perfectly cooked. The pizza is super cheesy and not too big. We loved the ice cream and it's worth stopping by for that alone. The interior definitely has a Turkish vibe. It's beautiful and well lit.

I finally had the opportunity to try Mado. The dishes remind me of Istanbul. The staff are friendly and the design of the restaurant is amazing. The colours of the furniture and tiles really come together. The food has extraordinary taste. Mado has limited vegetarian options but nonetheless still amazing. The Turkish coffee is authentic and the Turkish delights you can not turn down. If you need a new restaurant to dine in, Mado will definitely exceed your expectations.

FOOD | I saw this place recommended on TikTok and the ambiance and food looked great so I decided to pay MADO a visit (prior to our current lockdown). They offer their breakfast selections all day, so my friend and I chose to split the Traditional Breakfast platter ($17.99). The platter comes with Turkish tea, which is refillable throughout your dining! The breakfast platter was a yummy blend of Turkish breakfast foods, with a lot of focus on fried and cheesy foods. The roasted green pepper and tomato comes in a dish in the center with a lid, and my friend and I only discovered this wasn't decorative toward the end of our meal For dessert, I got the Classic Kesme Ice Cream ($15.99). This is a really heavy ice cream, as it's made out of goat cheese. The desserts are large and heavy enough to all be shareable, in my opinion! AMBIANCE | MADO has such a nice interior. It is a perfect blend of cafe and restaurant aesthetic, and I think it'd be a great place to host any special events or just any dinners with friends. SERVICE | We had a really nice waitress who checked in with us, despite the restaurant being pretty busy when we were dining in. She was very sweet about the refill requests! VERDICT | I'm not sure why this restaurant doesn't have the most positive reviews on Yelp, as I really enjoyed this restaurant!

Left-right pistachio, plain (my fav), chocolate (very intense) ice cream
Janine W.

This is just about their ice cream. It's the best if you like creamy rich ice cream. I copied this blog.to on the description of the ice cream. Made with goat milk, as well as two thickeners: mastic gum and salep, a type of flour made from the root of the purple orchid We had the pistachio, plain (which is described above and you can really taste how it is somehow difference from other ice creams but it's subtle and it was my favourite of the 3), and chocolate. I found their menu lacking in detail and I was only enlightened by a friend and this description. Warning the rest of the menu is also lacking in description. It is best to look ahead of time so you know what you're getting The host checked in on us. I usually only see this in high end restaurants. So nice touch And the place was a revolving door with people constantly coming and going. A good sign, it is popular with the locals. I live in Toronto but I am not Turkish! I'm Chinese and we definitely know when it's a good Chinese restaurant there is a lineup.

Discovered this Turkish gem across from Yorkdale mall! Definitely come check out their breakfast platter with so many delicious dips. The fries were a hit with the kids and I really enjoyed the Turkish coffee and baklava dessert!!!

Came in and Emery (our server) was in the corner busy with his girlfriend feeding her and chatting. The host was nice and sat us to our seats. We had to ask a few times for water while he went back to chatting to his girlfriend in the corner. He was not attentive nor did he say sorry for forgetting our water when asked a couple of times. He just talked to someone else and told them to get our waters without a response. The place is so beautiful, but the food wasn't that great. The pasta was super mushy and is supposed to be a Fettuccini Alfredo but tasted only of pesto and oil (which would have been fine if that's what was ordered). There was no cream at all (as seen in photo). The pizza... Was like those frozen mini pizzas at home . I ordered dessert but was too dissatisfied so I canceled it. I normally don't write bad reviews , but this has not been a good experience. On the other hand if you get anyone else as your server (I looked around at the others) they were very attentive. Even the host would say thank you for coming before leaving.

We have tried mado before in Turkey and we love the atmosphere and food presentation! While visiting from ottawa we made sure give mado a visit! Service was more than friendly.. now we ordered the breakfast special for 2. It was quiet simple, and like a homemade cooked meal. We tried ordering other pastries for breakfast but they were out of them. We had the famous simit. It was fresh and good. The decor was very n ie. they had nice feature at the door automated camera with temperature check. Doors at the washroom opened with a wave. These were cool features in Covid times. But food was nothing special!

Complete love this place! Absolutely wonderful staff! The gentleman who srrved us was as kind as can be! The place was lively and busy, confirming its popularity. My friend and I ordered the breakfast for 2 and had truly enjoyed it. However, being allergic to peanuts, I did not appreciate that they did mot inquire about allergies, and then placed some peanut butter on the tray. Having no idea it was peanut butter, I put put some one my tongue and immediately had to run to the bathroom to rinse my mouth and take an antihistamine ASAP. This is an aspect I truly wish they improve on! Otherwise this place is wonderful!!!!! 9/10 +1 if they inquire about allergies. Thank goodness I carry an epipen. But for those who do not, please be cautious. Otherwise I totally LOVED THE PLACE!!!!

Super cute spot for Turkish brunch! The parking lot is hell, but once you get inside you're greeted by the super nice decor and a very spacious interior. We ordered the Mado Grand Breakfast, which allowed us to sample a number of different dishes as well as cheeses, fruits, and spreads to pair with bread. It also comes with Turkish tea with tea refills. Portions were very filling, we were stuffed by the end of the meal. The food's on the pricier side for brunch, but you're also paying for the nice ambiance. All in all, a great option for a cute brunch date outside of the downtown core!

If you like ice cream and an over the top experience this is the place to visit. I never knew a…read moreplace like this existed in Toronto, although I've always been fascinated by the exterior of this place. This is a frozen dessert emporium! With more ice cream and frozen yogurt flavours than you can imagine. And at least 20 waffle cone and bowl options. Looking at pictures from last year, it appears the waffle cone options change regularly as well. But they don't give you just any ice cream cone. They surprise you with additional toppings! How to feel like a kid again (except my kid who didn't appreciate the extra toppings). When we arrived, there was no line and I thought "why are there three people behind the counter?" From that point on there was a line up out the door. The place itself is a feast for the eyes. There is so much to look at, it's hard to focus on eating. Although ice cream and frozen yogurt are their specialty, they also have Dutch goods, popcorn and a wide variety of drinks. It does feel like a European cafe in the middle of Toronto. Fresh air blowing through the open doors. One interesting thing I learned is that the ice cream is kosher (the frozen yogurt is not?). Someone mentioned it was outlined somewhere on the outside of the building. Also, the only negative feature of this place is the number of bees both inside and outside. As someone terrified of bees, this was a nightmare. Thankfully, there is so much sugar around that they don't focus on anything for any significant length of time. This place is a gem in the city. It does not get enough recognition. You love ice cream? You need to check this place out!

Even with that there are 3 or 4 tables for to enjoy treat and about a dozen Jones and waffle bowl options to choose from. They even carried hard to find speculoos cookies from Holland, a childhood treat, that I 'scooped up' and appreciated. Staff was super friendly and happy to be serving, which was extra nice. A treat and special place for certain, but worth a stop by when your nearby.
