LIKES: Well constructed are Madewell's lines, often more relaxed feel and fit are their pieces to J. Crew, their parent company's. I've experienced great customer service at this shop, instead of a department store, I preferred shopping here. DISLIKE: No guarantee of great customer service. In fact, terrible it's been. New return policy on denim is trash. Makes customers dissatisfied and is hard on their employees. I bought jeans and wanted to exchange them for another more expensive pair. They didn't honor the 20% discount on spending more than $150 and the jeans were $178. This cost me an extra & $80 when there are signs all over the store stating "spend more than $150, get 20% off" then at the register we were told they didn't honor this for "denim". Very disappointing! read more

A company that made a name for themselves off the backs of bigger girls suddenly can't carry a size larger than a 31? Immedietly upon walking in we noticed a complete change in the look of the store. It feels dry and cheap. When I was looking through clothes and politely declined help from staff, they awkwardly stayed and insisted. We just left after that. My shopping experience was disappointing. I will never go back. read more

I love building retail businesses up but I'm not able to do that today - apathetic, I felt like I was interrupting them .... One girl was hogging the clothing rack shopping for herself NO eye contact- just rude I purposely came to north park to shop at madewell because of My experience last September - rockstar sales team...I'm kicking myself for not remembering the name of the young girl who only works weekends because of her school schedule. She was not there today I was so excited to be back in Dallas today and made the trip to north park...what a disappointment this store was. read more

Let me just say Kelly is a rock star! I went in for shirts yesterday and she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I had my kiddo with me and the stroller and as some may know it's hard to navigate with those big guys but she made is easy. Not to mention she was kind and a good conversationalist. My daughter bought me a pair of boyfriend jeans for Mother's Day. They fit beautifully when I tried them on. During my first wear, they stretched so much that they were falling off. I'd never bought jeans from Madewell before and wasn't aware they apparently shrink dramatically. When I attempted to exchange them in this store, I was informed that wouldn't be possible, despite the fact that these were a gift and that is is a known issue with their jeans. The Madewell employee asked her manager about a possible exchange and she said no. She also wanted to let me know that in future one should always buy a size down in these jeans. Of course had I known that I would have passed this on to my daughter. Very poor service here. I'll not be back. read more

Madewell has a part of my golden heart. I come here as often as I can whether it's to purchase something or just to window shop because I have too much crap in my closets. I first fell in love with Madewell when I was living in New York, all the faculty members at a school I worked for had something from here. So of course I gravitated to the great leather goods. At the time I was a vegan and well it's against Vegan Law to have leather- how dare I fall in love with the smell of freshly made leather bags. So I slowly walked away from the transport tote and whispered, "I'll be back for you". Moved to Texas, became a meat eater (saddens my heart that all the places out here serve meat everything- meat in beans, meat in vegetables, meat in pies- meat, meat, meat! So I went to good ole Madewell and bought my first bag, received tons of compliments and got more stuff, more stuff became surprised bags from the guy and more surprised bags became clothing...so on and so forth. I'm happy with this brand. I haven't worn a pair of their jeans, but it's on the list. I recommend the Northpark location along with the Fort Worth location on University. read more

Madewell opened a little over a year ago and has been nothing but great. It's a J.Crew spin-off - a little less expensive, a little less preppy, a little more funk. Dallas is the flagship store, even though they've started popping up all over. The clothes are precious and I love the staff. They have always been so nice and helpful and are really great about helping you put together an outfit. When I'm looking for everyday clothes, Madewell is my number one stop. read more

As far as I'm concerned, Madewell should be paying ME for giving them all of my money. If you love J.Crew but a) can't afford it and b) wish it was just a TAD bit hipper as opposed to mom-ish, Madewell is its little sister store and your new dream come true. I was kidding in the first paragraph because YA RIGHT - I can't afford to go here as often I would love to, but UGH. Awesome everything from their tops to their scarves to their accessories to their jeans. This place is just so cool and so perfectly unique; the pieces aren't over-the-top hip, but give you just enough flare and funk to stand out from a crowd. Clean, fun, and friendly atmosphere. The staff is knowledgable and always happy to help you find what you need. I go here for denim and shoes. The jeans fit like a dream, run true to size, and feel strong without being too heavy (the pairs I own are among the lightest in my denim collection--great for warmer months!). The shoes are fun, comfortable, and always earn me compliments. Everything is trendy with a "classic" approach: just enough pop to look fresh while retaining elegance. You can feel in the material (and see in the fit) that these items are meant to last. Highly recommend! read more

Not good is an understatement. Ordered online. Received someone else's item. Have to return the wrong item before my form of payment will be credited. (They do not want this return dropped off in store.) And then they are experiencing delays processing returns. And then it takes almost a week to receive credit to the form of payment once they process the return which was not actually my item being returned. Convoluted? Yes. And the item I ordered is now out of stock. Directed to call this store because two were listing as available to the online rep. None in the store. Frankly, everything about Madewell's IT/technology is terrible. I appreciate the kind online rep and in-store sales rep. Feel sorry for them in regard to where they are working. No more Madewell for anyone in my family. Ever. read more

okay so i visited Madewell for the first time at NorthPark yesterday aaaand the staff was very friend and knowledgeable! (It doesnt hurt that my friend works there! wink) I was jean hunting (im five feet flat) and the ladies help pick a wide range of jeans that could be cutely cuffed or easily taken up by a tailor. While there i sifted through the sale items which where actually really well priced! Tons of colorful cotton tanks for the cheap cheap! i would never pay $32 for a tank (which is what they usually run) but at $9.99 a pop plus your college discount its a steal! So dont be intimidated by jcrews little sister bc the sale staff is friendly and the sales are killer. read more

I'm glad to know that I am not the only one who takes issue with their perky yet unhelpful staff. I have been on the receiving end of "Sorry, can't help you" and witnessed "Sorry, can't help you" when it comes to exchanges and returns. For me, it was with a candle. I purchased it as a gift and within two days (literally) needed to return it b/c my S.O.'s mother was allergic to scented candles. Because I had done so much shopping that day, the receipt vanished in one of the many bags I had. In any case, I came back to the store not asking for a refund but rather store credit b/c I know that most places will only give store credit when a receipt it missing even if you have the card the item was purchased on. I was even able to identify the young lady who checked me out. The response was, you guessed it, "Sorry, can't help you." The feeling is helplessness in situations like this. Staff is happy to take your money but that's where the service ends. I'm not a "serial returner" but experiences like this burn a customer to their core because this is the last impression we are left with and share it with our friends and family. I believe myself to be a reasonable person and didn't think the request was out of line but hiding behind policy turns people cold and Stepford Wife-ish, hence my assessment of the staff being perky yet unhelpful. Being customer-centric equates to providing a positive experience for the customer to want to come back and spend again and again and also share their experiences with others who will patronize their store. Sadly, this is not the case with Madewell, or at least the Northpark location. read more

Madewell is one of my favorite shops for women's clothing. The clothes and shoes are fun and now; and I love the jewelry selection. This is also where I go for jeans. They are simple with unnecessary pocket embellishments and priced reasonably. On occasion, a style or color will have a special and I always jump on those deals. The regular prices can be on the steep side but it's always worth checking out the sales. I always stop here when I'm at Northpark Center. read more

Madewell is JCrew's slightly more affordable offshoot. It was created in 2006 to tap into a younger market. There are only a few B&M stores, but fortunately, one of them is here in Dallas. The selection is limited but high-quality. It trends towards party dresses and casual skirts but there are some work-appropriate blouses. The sizing is different from JCrew and I have typically have to go one size larger at Madewell. read more

Although the selection is stellar the staff is not. I love Madewell's selection but the cold treatment I received took away from my shopping experience. Sadly, I will not be returning to this location and will happily make the trek to any other location. read more
