This was my first experience ordering from this company, and I'm extremely disappointed with how…read morethey handled a simple return mistake. I accidentally included an additional item in my return package and contacted customer service immediately to explain. I had intended on exchanging this item for a smaller size, but saw that they did not have the item in a smaller size. And accidentally left it in the return. I asked that they either return the item to me or issue a refund once they confirmed they had received it. Instead, I was told that because the item wasn't submitted through their Returns Portal, it could be considered "ineligible" and would be "donated". I understand that the mistake was mine, but I don't understand why the company couldn't simply return the item or process a refund. This response was disappointing, especially as a first-time customer, and showed very little understanding or willingness to help.

Few of the longtime employees remaining truly understand what has made Clothes Horse a Dallas institution. They greet customers, offer assistance, acknowledge people when they enter, and create the kind of upscale shopping experience that keeps customers returning to this gem of a store. Unfortunately, some of the newer employees don't seem to share that same customer-service mindset. The atmosphere feels different, and some of the attention to customers that once set the store apart appears to be fading. With that said, my loyalty to Clotheshorse runs deep, and I continue to have great respect for the manager and the few longtime sales associates. I'm hopeful that the store can recapture the level of service that made it so special for so many years. I'll keep giving it another chance because Clotheshorse has been one of my favorite Dallas shopping destinations for a very long time.

I was greeted politely and directed around the corner to the back, where the appraiser is located. That day, my interaction with that lady was uncomfortable. She had a condescending tone and a bad attitude. She even said one of my items was "jacked" and refused to take it. Overall, it felt like my presence was an inconvenience for her. Against my better judgment, I let her take the other items. Fast-forward about a week, and I decided to pay a small fee to retrieve my items from the store. Once again, I was promptly and warmly greeted by the store staff, who directed me to the appraiser again. It was the same appraiser that was present previously. Again, my presence is an inconvenience to her. I tell her why I'm there, and she tells me to go to the store portion. I tell her they directed me back here, so she calls the store staff via her phone and refers to me as a "little girl." I went back to the store portion and the same staff apologized for the miscommunication, and began helping me retrieve the items I had previously agreed to consign. The remainder of my interaction with her was very pleasant. It is quite disheartening writing a review like this, considering my only reason for doing so was the negative experiences I had with a single person.

Some of the pieces I feel could be a bit better, however these are designer brands and the condition of all of the clothes were in good condition. Some of the shoes were questionable. There was so much wear on since of the bottoms of the shoes (size 11 specifically) that it was odd how they were even selected to be sold here. This may be because of limited inventory at the time, but the price seemed inflated considering the condition of some of these items. I wish they had a better selection of size xl and up but again, they're at the mercy of the inventory that they receive. Still, I managed to get a nice pair of Mignonne Gavigan earrings so I'm pleased.

Debbie was extraordinarily helpful, figured out my taste quickly, and made the whole experience fantastic. I walked in hoping for 1 cute new top to start my shopping for the day and instead walked out with 2 tops, 2 sweaters, a pair of pants, a dress, a scarf, and a couple of headbands. You'll find a wide array of tops and jeans and well everything. If you see a top that fits, you better get it now because he only orders four of each top (Small, Medium, Large and XL). He does this so you don't bump into yourself on the street which can happen a lot in this town if you shop too much Banana Republic. If you snooze, you definitely lose, but luckily HD has a layaway plan that will buy you more time to think about your purchase. For you ladies, HD also has a women's clothing store that is equally hip and two doors down from the Men's store. The best time to visit HDs is right about NOW around Thanksgiving. He usually has a deal where each canned food item you bring in gets you 10% off an item up to 50%. And he starts doing a crazy sale around this time too where each day he gradually marks stuff down each day until he clears it out. One year, I bought this bad-ass jacket for like $40, and he threw in some sick pants for $10. The prices might seem high at first, but once you're a regular, you'll start getting some good deals. I thanked her profusely, and walked home to show off my purchases to my bf. Duly impressed, he reminded me that it was time for me to go back to work. Oh no. I couldn't find my keys anywhere. We tore up the house for a while, and found spare keys dating back to 2011. Just not MY keys. They have to be at the store. Finally, I had the presence of mind to look for a phone number (only after I'd already run back down the street to see if she was still there -- all locked up.). She answered, and said she hadn't noticed them. Upon hearing the panic in my voice, she offered to come back downtown and look. She had already driven away! It's her thanksgiving break! I felt terrible, but I needed those keys. Fear not, my keys and I were reunited. She was unbelievably gracious about my mistake, even apologizing for not having looked around before closing. A review for a boutique should emphasize the product. Ohmygoodness these clothes are perfect. And the jewelry. And the hats. Clearly, I HAD to make a special trip just to buy a present here. I was never impressed with the quality of their clothing, but it was a good convenient place to stop by when I was in a bind for something cute and trendy to wear, and their accessory assortment is decent. My last visit was terrible disappointment. I was in a hurry to find a dress to wear that evening for dinner and drinks at the Ritz. I was in a hurry and quickly bought a dress with sequence. When I got home and truly inspected the dress, I noticed that it was missing some sequence pieces, and it just looked plain cheap and tacky. There is no way I was going to wear that to the ritz. What an embarrassment!! I refuse to wear the dress. It was a final sale, so they would not exchange it or work with me store credit. I left this unwearable dress and they kept my $50. Poor, very poor customer service for someone who wants to shop and support local business. It is a shame that they were unwilling to work with me in spite of their poor quality product. As a resident, I always suggest their place as a go to for clothing. I will no longer. They were not willing to work with a loyal customer, so I will take my business and recommendations elsewhere.

No mirrors in the fitting room-so every time you came out to take a look in the mirror the salespeople were ON YOU. Each time out like 4 people had to stop me to chat about my look. They stuck a on of extra stuff they thought I would like in my room, so I had to wade through that. Then I had to ask for 1 item 3 times for a different size. They kept coming back with wrong size, wrong color or wrong style. There are like 8 salespeople in that fitting room and I was buying 6-7 expensive items, but when they couldn't seem to get the different size I wanted, I quit out of utter annoyance.
