Buerger Brothers Construction built an addition to our home, which included a 700+ square foot garage, using concrete poured on Piers and a floor poured as a "Slab on void" due to bad soils report. They also built a new deck, and managed front yard landscaping. They are an honest, ethical, professional, and an excellent company to do business with. We started planning in May of 2019, with construction from June through October of 2020, we found ways to work during the early days of the Covid pandemic. Communicating with Christian was a breeze, he was easy to talk to, responsive, professional and truly cares about what you are conveying. Because I am a retired engineer I had to stick my nose into everything... From the beginning he brought in professionals from the Architect, Structural Engineers to the finishing Carpenter and Painter, each step was amazing and all within budget. The cadre of subcontractors hired by Burger Brothers had to meet a high standard of professionalism and produce a high quality product, they were all wonderful to work with. Of note, was the daily cleanup, the care taken and the security to the existing area, especially working in the midst of a pandemic! Inconvenience was kept to a minimum and in the end we can actually say the complete project went quite smoothly and was a great experience. Would I hire them to do it again? Absolutely "In a heartbeat, no doubt about it!" I just cannot brag enough about this company and I promise you will not regret your decision to hire Christian and his crew! I could go on and on, but you get the gist.... if you want honesty and professionalism, these are your guys! Then we decided to get a digital rendering of the porch which came out great, but came with a price of over $1k in addition to the initial Estimate which was over 40k. Some time went by and we heard very minimal about the project between March and August. I decided to do a review on yelp to motivate the company to do something with our project. I received a phone call from the PM about how this affects their business. I agreed that I would remove that review and add a review at the end. Our understanding was that there would be quality control and communication weekly along the way however; this was not the case. There were days where the painter and foundation person came when they said they would and other times they didn't. A couple of times I would go out and look and tell the construction worker that the quality was not acceptable. This occurred on more than one occasion. I called the PM to tell him that this was the problem. It got fixed and we ended up with a beautiful porch in Mid November with a total of $45k spent. If you have the time and money to spend to guide this project the exact way that you want then yes, otherwise; I would recommend a different company.

BEWARE! DO NOT HIRE! MARK IS A LIAR AND CANNOT BE TRUSTED!…read more Poor work. Poor Planning. Minimal Communication. Mark was recommended via Home Advisor... My problems with MLC have been the same expressed in other reviews. Mark promised a top quality bathroom in 10 business days after the demo for a fair and definitely not small sum of money. I paid him a deposit of $4800 up front after they demo'd my only bathroom... then the lies began. Nothing happened for weeks. I begun to start feeling scammed but when I could reach Mark he would give me excuses and assure me that it would happen soon. I wish he would have just stolen my money, rather than keep me on this nightmarish ride of stress and anger. It has been 12 weeks since demo and the job has not been finished. I fired them yesterday, as I can no longer handle their unprofessional behavior, awful craftsmanship and utter disregard... Here are some examples of what I've dealt with. I begged Mark to install a toilet after the demolition, which he did not do for 3+ weeks, the shower was not operable until 8+ weeks. This was my ONLY bathroom! My bedroom that is connected is full of dust and dirt and mud all over the floors making the bedroom unusable. They made no attempt to use plastic to keep anything contained. Other glues and mud was tracked all throughout my house and stuck to the wood flooring. He has left my home UNINHABITABLE FOR MONTHS! It takes extensive effort to get any communication or work to be performed.. . I would have to call and call and text to get Mark to answer. He came by twice early on to do some VERY POOR and Inexperienced work himself, that would always have to be redone. Examples are: Glued new tile on top of old tile without leveling, spacing, or cleaning it. The end result was jagged and misaligned. He then tried to poor a tile shower base incorrectly, which I noticed was NOT UP TO CODE and he told me he had been doing that way for 30 years... both jobs had to be redone. I kept asking for materials I paid for to be delivered but they never showed up. Materials that did come were not approved or the cheapest possible version. When subcontractors would actually show up, they were not working off any plan or with any knowledge of the design. One guys work would always conflict with another and create more problems. Anything that did get done was of poor quality, misalignment, ugly and slapdash to even an unexperienced eye. I never once felt comfortable or confidant in the job but since I had already given him half the money, what could I do? After he screamed at me on the phone one day.... I finally gave Mark an ultimatum to finish the job in the next 9 days while I was out of town. Well, I came back and it was still not done. Things that were worked on looked very bad, misaligned shower door with a huge gap against the wall, another cheap lighting fixture he ordered instead of the one I told him to order. The custom base for the sink didn't have the right measurements. Exposed live electrical wiring... holes in the walls, loose exposed electrical sockets. The plumbing for the exposed sink was not all black as had been discussed but a multitude of colors and cheap plastics. Shower valve is crooked and not level... I could go on. I will likely have to demo much of what was done to make this right. BEWARE OF MARK AND MLC! Look at my google review for pics of just some of the bad work.

The work that was started remains incomplete. Incomplete electrical. We had agreed to smart switches with dimmers. Mark installed regular switches, many in the wrong place, and several don't work. Incomplete pocket door. He framed it and decided to stop there. Incomplete window install: Mark installed it in the wrong place and brought brick that's not even close to matching. He didn't bother to start: Paint, trim, island over the stairs, kitchen cabinets Most weeks no one shows up, and if they do, I'm surprised if they stay for more than an hour. Several of his contractors came to my house saying they hadn't been payed. He blames them when they inevitably do the work wrong because of his rushed directions. The subcontractors say they have barely met Mark Lovell. He's stopped answering my calls and based on what I'm seeing from other reviews, I would be shocked if he turns his business around. His most recent text in response to my concern about his recent poor reviews and how they matched my experience was "We are behind". Mark came in with a great sales pitch but doesn't follow through on his promises. Most weeks I would get a text saying things like: Electricians will be there Monday, painters Tuesday, cabinets Wednesday, everything completed in 2 week. One word may be used to thoroughly describe his services: TRASH. He did NOT fulfill his end of the contract. He destroyed our property by beginning the project and leaving it unfinished. Our sprinkler system was dug up, disabled and left inoperative until we could hire someone else to finish his terrible work. Even more, concrete that was poured was sloppily spilled all over our yard. Equipment he and his teams used was left scattered across the property for weeks. As he suddenly stopped our project repeatedly blaming the weather and other supposed mechanical issues, he rattled off excuse after excuse as to why he was unable to finish his job until JUNE 2023, six months after he started the project. This was when we finally saw him again, and it was the last. Worst of all, Vince Hopkins collected money in December. In June we decided to terminate his employment with us after continuation of lackluster work. He agreed to a partial refund of the deposits he collected when starting, though he never delivered. I urge anyone who is seeking any kind of home improvement work to steer away from this "businessman."

Job was to start July 14th and the finished in 3 days. Paid him half up front, then after numerous delays, he started work, but delays continued and he stated he needed more money to pay for help and materials to complete the job, so I paid him over $2950, just $200 short of the total cost, but then the work was not finished and what had been done was very shoddy, including cutting all the flooring and many of the baseboards too short, using the wrong drywall and not installing insulation in the wall, not smoothing out the drywall, leaving divots and bumps in it, then painting over it , and breaking two tiles in my bathroom floor that could not be replaced. After 7 weeks of continued broken promises to come and complete the job and fix the problems, I hired another contractor, who had to tear out almost everything that had been done to redo it, and buying new and additional materials, costing $2,000. He refused to refund the $2,000 to me, so I filed a civil suit against him, but now he has skipped out and could not be served. He is registered with the state of Colorado, and I am contacting them about this, have filed a complaint with the BBB, and I'm going to try and find him, so he can be served to appear in court. Even my other contractor offered to testify against him because of the horrible work he did.

Understanding the circumstance, but also willing to wait for the right team, I responded and asked the business to let me know if that changed in the future, as we have several projects in our home and are hoping to bring the same team aboard for all of them. I then received the attached response offering a completely different explanation than before. Rather than acting with integrity, the business elected to tell a lie, as the project was likely not lucrative enough for them. I made no reference to my budget, but the business assumed I would not be interested in paying their prices. I would like to offer a two-star rating, though, as the communication was quite prompt.
