Came here for my friend's birthday party. My friend kept forgetting to make a reservation but they were able to accommodate us the day before thankfully. Since we were a party of 10 we were given the option of pre-fix menu for $40 which included family style shared appetizers and one entree with a choice of a side. The portions are HUGE so come hungry. The sides include rice and beans, arroz con gandules, Maduros, tostones just to name a few! The food was flavorful the arroz con gandules was my favorite literally tasted like they do back in any Spanish event lol. The vibes were great the dj started at 8pm and kept the party going. They also have hookah but we didn't get it. With our pre-fix the whole party also got family style shared desserts everyone loved them so much I was not able to get a pic as everyone devoured them so much. 4/5 due to the drinking could have been a bit stronger but definitely delicious!

This place has been many different businesses over the years. This one seems to have been the most successful in recent years and I think it's because of the crowd that it generates. If you are into really loud music and boozy brunch vibes, this is the place for you. The service is all inclusive so sometimes the waitstaff isn't the most attentive since they are getting their tip automatically. I personally like to sit at the bar because service tends to be better there. The bartenders can't really travel too far or avoid you for too long when you are sitting in front of them. I've order a few items off appetizers and entrees. I will say the portions are generous but the prices also reflect that. They also give some warm garlic bread for a starter when you order entrees. People that are salt sensitive might find the food to be over salted but I really don't find this issue with most things. I have had food that has been too salty for me but it's not often that I run into that issue. The chicharron de pollo on the bone is really good and juicy. The best orders are the ones where you have to be careful with the bones. Thats when you know that someone's grandmother is back in the kitchen making tasty food. I've ordered the pernil and it's good. The portion is big and I usually like to take the leftovers and make a sandwich during the week. I've also ordered the whole fish thats stuffed with rice. I didn't love it and I would not order it again. If you want party vibes, loud music, drinks, and snacks-- I would recommend. I still support the establishment just for a drink or two.

The food here is amazing! The portions a huge and the drinks strong lol. There was a dj playing but I was told they often have live bands. The service was a little slow but the food made up for it.

This place was spotted on our way back home. Hubby decided to get a bite to eat. Security at entrance is a plus for me. One level restaurant. DJ on a Saturday night. Great music good ambiance and vibe. Good service. If you like hookah this will be the place. Bar area was packed. Big screen tv with music videos. Place was pumping. Serving Puerto Rican and the Food was tasty. Prices was $15 $20 $30 for drinks only. Prices in food dish it varies $$. I definitely recommend. Parking it's hard to find so good luck finding one.

For a family dunch, my mother-in-law decided on Puerto Rican food. While most of the dishes were decent, some dishes were a miss and the service was indifferent. One thing this place has is decent music and vibes. Our party of 5 were escorted to a booth in the back facing the side of the bar and with a view of the stage in the back of the restaurant. Unfortunately there was no live performance on the day we went. There are also TVs at the bar playing the latest sports games. The overall vibe was lively. Getting our orders in was easy and we got two orders of 2 alcapurrias, beef mofongo, queso frito, cameron de coco, chicharron de pollo sin hueso, and a side of arroz con habichuela. The food was a mixed bag. The alcapurrias were perfect. But the beef in the beef mofongo was chewy. The queso frito was nicely fried without being greasy and accompanied by a pleasant guava sauce. But the chicharron was chewy. The fried coconut shrimps were indeed jumbo and juicy. Except the sauce was really sweet. And nobody can ruin rice and beans so that was fine too. There seems to be a pattern of chewy land meat in the establishment, but the alcappurias were made from beef and were tender and juicy so I guess it just depends what you order. At least everything came in pretty big portions so that's a plus. The service was inconsistent. Our main waiter rarely came by, but the busboys were friendly and made sure our glasses were filled. Our main waiter, the king of indifference, was more interested in the sports game on TV than providing us decent service. I guess the mandatory tipping amount for larger parties gave him a reason to slack on the job. My mother-in-law asked if they did military discounts and the bill came back discounted. Except if you want the military discount, you can't get the cash discount. It seems like every good thing is balanced by an equally bad thing. To sum it all up, the experience was a mixed bag. Hopefully this is not what's actually "made in puerto rico" because I'm going there next month. I'm 99% sure the food will be better on the island. Fingers crossed. P.S. The table was big so I wasn't able to take 4 additional pictures of everyone's food.

Happy to see that this place to in business. I am shocked that the food wasn't tasty. It tastes bland. Drinks were strong. Customer service was awful. Half the time the waiter forgot about us. We were seated by the door and when asked to be moved, hosted was annoyed. Ambience is nice.

I went to this venue for a birthday brunch. They don't seat the party until everyone arrives. I decided to sit at the bar and have a drink. I ordered the El Cocotaso drink, and it was good. When I looked at the menu on the website, there was a 2-course brunch menu option with drinks. However, when we were seated, we were only offered the $40 prefix menu. It comes with an appetizer platter and an entree. I didn't like the fact that everyone was all on one plate, ex, meat with seafood. I only tried an empanada. For the entree, I tried the ropa vieja. It was okay. Overall, I wasn't impressed with the menu options or the food. The positives were the drinks and the band.

This is my 3rd time returning and each time the ambiance is nice, but as the years go things change, food changes, clients change and lastly service. This time the food was good (4 out of 5), missing note was the salmon was bland, but all other plates were great! Drinks were strong and tasty! Service was good, waiter was attentive and nearby. The ambiance has changed a bit, just a few years ago, you weren't able to walk inside from the crowds, today it was a little empty. Didn't matter to me though, we had a good time and enjoyed our meal. Thanks for making my mom's night special.

Boozy Brunch! If you're looking for a chill brunch with great food, even better drinks and good music then Made in PR is your place. Came here with my BF on a Sunday afternoon without a reservation as was seated immediately. For $40 you get a Picedera for the table, an entree and one hour of unlimited drinks (sangria, mimosa or soft drinks). The drink options won me over seeing as how most restaurants make the entire table participate in unlimited alcoholic drinks. Not giving an option for a soft drink for the folks that don't drink or are the designated drivers. I went with the Pork Chops and my BF had the chicken and waffles. Both of our meals were soooo good. Full of flavor and perfectly portioned. Our waiter made sure my drink never got too low. I decided to stick with the white sangria. It wasn't too strong but after a few glasses I definitely had a nice buzz. Solid brunch option.... I'll definitely be back!

Ask the Community - Made In Puerto Rico

What time does the DJ get there on Saturdays?

8PM

Is there a dress code to get in on Friday and Saturday's?

I have visited Made In Puerto Rico many times. It's a very good restaurant. Dress casual, wear your most relaxed outfit. Sneakers, jeans and t-shirts are all acceptable (skip the shorts and flip-flops!)

Is this place still open do they serve liquor?

I was there last month the place was open , how ever they did not have a liquor license the day I went , you can bring your own wine/beer

Did they get their liquor license back?

I was there last night. Waiter said May 13

Dakota's on the Cove has been in my periphery for a while. Up until today, I had not been here…read moresince the space was its former occupant, Ice House. While I had heard mixed things about Dakota's, I wanted to check it out for myself. I had been meaning to catch up with some of my IRL Yelp friends, and thought this would be a great place to meet up - so off we went. Dakota's is located right on the water in Throgg's Neck and provides great views of the marina. The dining area is separated into a front room, bar area, back room, outdoor patio, and a biergarten area. The decor and aesthetics have a nautical vibe - think blues, greys, and whites with lots of clean lines. One of my friends told me that the menu is relatively new, as they got a new chef ~ 2 weeks ago. The menu isn't large, in fact it's somewhat limited in my view; there are a few apps, mains, and sides - but I would like to have seen an expanded salad selection (there are only two on the menu) and a sandwich section, especially given the aesthetics and the fact that they're open for lunch. We decided to start by sharing some apps and one of their salads: the tuna tartare, the mussels, and the specific salad name escapes me but it had feta whip. Everything was very good - the tuna was fresh and came with some thin crostini that provided a welcome contrast in texture. The salad was flavorful, but the portion was small for the price and the combination of feta whip with the dressing made it a little too wet. The mussels were great - we chose to have them prepared in a white wine sauce which was super flavorful. It came with two pieces of focaccia which were good albeit slightly stale; crostini would have been better. For mains, we split two: the fish and chips and the linguine with clam sauce. The former was pretty good - two generous pieces of fish, but it could have used more fries; the apple slaw it was served with cut through the heaviness of the dish well. The linguini was also good, however it's hard for me to justify a pasta dish being over $30 - especially in this case where there were relatively few clams and the portion was not big. We also ordered a side of broccoli rabe which was good - though the addition of some garlic bulbs/slices would have elevated it. For desert we split the lemon gelée abd biscoff cheesecake. I wasn't a fan of the former, it had a tough-ish consistency and lacked flavor; the cheesecake was better. Service was excellent; we made conversation with several members of staff while we were there - including the owner. They are really putting an effort in to make this place great and I saw it in all aspects of my experience. Overall, I had a great time at Dakota's; I think they still need to fine-tune their menu, especially in relation to portion sizes and prices. However, if this is an improvement from where they were, then they're taking a step in the right direction.
