Let's start off by giving Alexis our server a 5 star rating. He held down a table of over 10 people on his own without breaking a sweat. He was attentive and kind and patient with all of us and there was many personalities. Turn around on drinks took some time however it was a few of us and I'm not sure they had enough staff but even with that being said it was a good atmosphere at this place. SCAMMING? I came in on a Monday during a game. It was busy, I asked for a grey goose soda and the bartender poured me a house vodka. I guess he must've thought I wasn't looking or that I was dumb. Unfortunately for him, I know my way around a bar. When I asked a different bartender how much a well soda was she said it's $16. I paid $20 including tip. They did remake it for me but who's to say they haven't done this to others? Terrible. Will never come here again. read more

We were the only patrons at 6-ish pm on a weekday. They have 52 beers on tap, but only a few were available. And the available beers had gone skunk, which our creepy server acknowledged after we complained of multiple different tries. At that point, we should have left, but instead gave in to sunk cost fallacy, and waited for our food, which was (almost) uniformly awful, except for the French fries and Art's tacos. My Buffalo chicken wrap was absolutely vile. My side green salad was a pile of white iceberg lettuce. Everyone except Art had upset stomachs all night afterward. read more

This was my 2nd time coming here. My rule is try a place twice before you comment . The food is absolutely fantastic here. Idk who cooks in the back but DAMN they can cook. Everything is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The service is over 15mins or more but it's downtown Hoboken and it's busy so not too bad. The staff was so damn friendly and cool with us. The woman taking care of us told us she was new but she was awesome ! The food and drinks were great but the drinks were strong. Tone done on the alcohol lol I like a bit of taste to my drink but still great! So it was 6 of us and the bill was $600....idk how or why but hey I didn't pay lmao The bar is definitely for people 25 and older. Food was decent, but we were charged a ridiculous $18.5 per drink - which is excessive for a place w virtually no air conditioning and not much ambience to write home about. And then on top of that we were charged a gratuity for a party of 4 which has never been the case before and the server wouldn't take more than 2 credit cards! read more

IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS, I WOULD. I was excited to be spending a date night with my fiancée, who is Trans Male to Female. As we made it to the front of the line, I was met at the entrance by an Older Hispanic Man with a bald cut and facial hair, and was told my fiancée had to pay a $20 entry fee. The other men in-front of us were let in and were not being asked to pay any fees. I asked what was the fee for, and they said that it was "only for him", telling me that bc my fiancée "looked" manly, she had to pay $20 to enter. I refused to pay and left the line immediately disgusted, as I had come to this establishment two years ago with an ex boyfriend in the past and was NEVER asked to pay any entrance fee, as my ex boyfriend was more masculine, physically. I'm extremely upset with what we experienced, as someone who has worked for other Hoboken establishments, I have never seen such blatant Transphobic discriminatory behavior, and had not ever faced this kind of discrimination, especially during Pride Month. Had the best time at Mad Hatter! Came on a Saturday, the Djs were great! The food is pretty good/decent. I enjoyed one of the many bartenders (older male, slightly chiseled) he was great, however there were two of them who were straight a**holes, lack customer service. The burgers are okay. However they are (or became) dishonest. If I remember correctly, they used to be very friendly back in the old days (pre Covid). Be aware that they charge $3 for each dish for French fries! And they won't tell you when they take your order. They pretend as if it's part of your order. Enjoyed the food, good bar food, but the service is the memorable part: John was running the bar and provided not only friendly service but well made drinks, like the Long Island Ice Tea. At 5pm on a Saturday while people are watching college football and MLB playoffs, there is a tone deaf DJ playing the worst set I've heard in my life. I cannot stress enough how bad of taste in music this person had and how obnoxiously loud it was playing. There was no flow to the song selection, no connection between selections, literally just a guy playing random songs that he liked as loud as possible. Not a single person in the bar was vibing to the music in any way. My throat was sore afterwards from trying to talk. Why do you have a TV every two feet playing every sporting event possible, if you're going to make it so loud that no one can hear anything or cheer? Absolutely the worst experience I've had in a bar, probably in my life. The floor is sticky. The tables are sticky. The chairs and tables are wobbling. It's cramped. The bartenders are hard working and very polite. I wish I had brought them ear plugs as a thank you gift. Will absolutely never return here under any circumstances. First time visitor to Hoboken and this bar - didn't have any of the issues that others seemed to have here. We had a cheese pizza which was pretty yummy. Also had the garlic farm fries and old bay wings. I'd definitely recommend the wings though they were a little pricey. Karaoke was set to begin by 8pm by started closer to 10 due to microphone issues. People are serious about their karaoke here.... Came here for my daughter's 24th birthday. We got the 3 hour brunch option. I liked that they sent you a personalized link to purchase your tickets this way my daughter sent it to her friends and they all paid on-line. She didn't have to put it out of her pocket and then collect the money. When we arrived they knew exactly how many tickets were purchased and had our table ready. Dante was our server and he was awesome. He waited on all 11 us like we were his only customers and always with the biggest smile. He served to please no matter how much we drove him crazy. The brunch deal was 3 hours. You chose one food brunch item and it was unlimited drinks. There was plenty to choose from. The portions were big. They also gave you an appetizer platter. The drinks were a little watered down but the girls made up for it in quantity. The package came with a complimentary bottle of champagne and it was cool when they came with the bubble blaster. Mad Hatter is usually a good spot for game day. They have a good set up plenty of tvs, dj and good choices. Me and the guys usually come once a year meet up spend like 6 plus hours here. The server Jenna was great, helped us through the menu and drinks. One big issue I had is they advertise on their website 9.99 all ya can eat wings on NFL games. It says Sunday Monday Thur and Sat. Ya get there they said we don't offer that but it's on your website. They apparently changed it to 14.99 only on mon and Thur. Jenna did a great job got us the 14.99 for Sunday but still 5 bucks more than advertised. It's on your own personal web site do better! read more
