Beautiful coffee shop with very kind staff! Cortado was strong and smooth, came out to be $5. I enjoyed my visit.

Great coffee! Cafe Miel ( honey, cinnamon) is perfect. Just enough honey so that its not overly sweet. Comfy atmosphere to sit alone, study or hang out with friends.

Madcap Coffee was such a cute and tasty stop! I loved everything about the space--from the charming exterior to the huge, thriving pothos plants. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with local honey, and it was absolutely delicious. The photos really speak for themselves! While I do wish they offered more flavor options, their seasonal drinks seemed like a fun choice for those interested. Service was quick, and you could tell the team was totally in the zone--crafting drinks with care and topping them with beautiful foam art.

My mom and I visited this Madcap location on a wednesday morning and it was lovely! I wasn't too busy and we were able to find a table easily. The staff were friendly and efficient with our order. I got an iced mocha that was the perfect balance of chocolate and espresso. I loved all the plants that this location has as well, it really made the place feel homey! Great spot in Grand Rapids!

My friend and I walked here after lunch and we were very excited to be at the original Madcap. We have one in Detroit and it is definitely not as cozy as this one. (The green really adds to the intrigue too) We took a little trying to decide what to get, and the barista was so nice helping us decide. She was also telling us a little about the place and that was super cool! I ordered a hot vanilla latte (light vanilla) and my friend ordered their seasonal drink that had almond syrup in it, but neither of us could taste it. Overall, I liked this place more than the one in Detroit but still not my favorite coffee shop. Love the baristas tho!!

My 8 oz americano was excellent. The cashier was not talkative. The barista delivered Fast, efficient service. Inside is well-lit and airy. I'm sure it's a great place to work or read.

PHENOMENAL location! They are sooooo nice in here. The drink menu is very simple, but the drinks are lovely and delicious. There's plenty of space in here, and an array of environments to sit in. Madcap coffee never disappoints.

Cortados

We stopped by after hearing this was the best coffee spot in Grand Rapids, and while we haven't explored all the options in town, I can confidently say this is a top tier coffee shop. Their cortados were flawless, good espresso flavor and great milk texture. We especially appreciated that they let you choose which espresso to use in your drink, which is a rare and a thoughtful touch. A great cortado is hard to come by, but they absolutely delivered here at Madcap! To make sure their good coffee extended beyond their cortado's we grabbed an iced vanilla latte to-go, and it also did not disappoint. It was just the right amount of flavor and not too sweet.

First of all the location is nice. Like the space, have enough seating to work or hang out with friends. Me and the boyfriend go to the location on Monroe downtown. The 2 young baristas were friendly and nice. I had the cappuccino and my boyfriend had the mocha. Both drinks came with latte art which we both love. The place wasn't too crowded, and lucky for us we found a seat. The next time we come back to GR we have to try the one on Fulton.

Great coffee. I liked the specialty banana fall flavor and vanilla latte. They have oatmilk available for those who are nondairy. Cute shop and great spot in downtown area.

Great espresso. Limited offerings and slower-service. Love the look of this place and the espresso tasted super fresh.

Very clean and modern vibe to the coffee shop. Yummy seasonal options, as well as various teas. Seating is limited but good atmosphere and lots of light with the various windows.

I have nothing but good things to say about Madcap, and I love raving to my Michigan friends on how Madcap came to fruition in Grand Rapids. The baristas here are efficient but always create high-quality work. You can tell that they care about each cup of coffee they make. Their craft is also very impressive, as many of the baristas here are involved in various competitions around the country. My favorites on the menu are just a classic latte, an iced vanilla latte, and the matcha, too! Their seasonal drinks are always fun to try out as well, I always look forward to their spin on the classic "Pumpkin Spice Latte" in the Fall.

No cold brew. Iced coffee does not count. Otherwise, it looked nice. The people were friendly.

Ask the Community - Madcap Coffee

I came to Madcap this morning and it looked like it was under construction. Anyone know when it will open back up?

Hi Grace, yes, we are renovating our kitchen and bathrooms which were in need of much love. The exact day/time of re-open is TBD based on how construction goes but we plan to be back open before the weekend. However, we are doing a full service… Read more

Our server was prompt and we ordered a few of the crazy fun dishes. I had the Love me tender dish which was a waffle with peanut butter, caramelized banana, bacon and a maple bourbon syrup. Oh my this was good. The rest of my group had amazing dishes as well and we had a great time. When in Grand Rapids, stop in here for a fun unique breakfast.

So when my family and I were walking around downtown Grand Rapids and needed a place to eat breakfast, we popped into Social Misfits because their menu is basically 90% waffles. My kids love waffles. Every kid loves waffles. Waffles it is! This is a great restaurant for families (because ... waffles), but also a great restaurant for adults because they have a nice selection of creative cocktails in the evening, and coffee in the morning. Social Misfits is basically waffles, alcohol and caffeine, in that order. When we visited in the morning, the adults opted for coffee (really great black coffee!) and the kids both opted for the Little Lad, a waffle topped with strawberries, blueberries and chantilly cream (basically whipped cream, but a little sweeter and whipped a little longer). Both of my children ate most of their waffle, which is a big thing, considering they usually eat like birds. We also got the Son of a Biscuit, which was a garlic parmesan waffle topped with chicken sausage gravy and a fried egg. You could add fried chicken to the mix for an extra $6 (we did not). This one was fine, but the egg was way overcooked! Oh well. Lastly: We got the Ol' Blue Eyes, a waffle topped with blueberry compote, lemon curd, whipped ricotta and graham cracker crumbs. This one tasted amazing, but there was so much blueberry compote and lemon curd that it made the waffle a bit soggy. I think the chef was feeling generous with the toppings, but homie needed to hold back a tad. Sometimes, a little bit goes a long way! Fifty percent less gloppy stuff would have made this waffle dish 100% better. If you ain't really about that waffle life, then not to worry. Social Misfits also has a few "not waffles" items on the menu, like salads, sandwiches and a couple of bar snacks. But I think if you visit this restaurant, you need to just embrace waffles. There are more than a dozen different waffles on the menu. They're all fun and well-thought-out. Pick one and eat waffles for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
