I came into Mad Rose today around 1:30pm. I had already gone to a few pubs in the area handing out resumes and I was excited for the chance to work at Mad Rose. When I entered the pub its was extremely busy, so I went straight to the bar and waited for assistance. When a very nice waitress approached me (who looked more then overwhelmed but was still smiling and professional). I asked her if she had a moment and of course she said she was very busy as it was lunch. I told her I could wait as long as she needed and to handle her customers first before speaking with me. I only had to wait a minute though, because with the same professionalism and smile she came back right away to see what I needed. I asked if Mad Rose was hiring and if I could speak with the manager. Once again she said it was extremely busy, I told her I had no problem waiting and with a smile she pointed to her manager who was also running orders and heading towards us. I reached out my hand to shake his and was greeted with the rudest expression. He flew past my hand, looked at his waitress (cutting her off mid sentence, mind you) then to me and my resume. He said, " YOU do know its lunch right? This is the worst time you could have came and because of that, NO Thanks". I wasn't even able to say anything before he was back in the kitchen out of earshot. I looked at the waitress in disbelief. She shrugged, I thanked her for her time and left. I have never been treated with such disrespect from a Manager in my life. I have been a manager before and I would never treat anyone, especially a potential team member, this way. I had been to a few bars already that day and mostly where empty besides a few people. How was I supposed to know that this location would be so busy? I was also willing to wait as long as needed because Ive always believed the customer comes first. Im glad that this manager showed his true colours and how he treats his staff right from the get go so I can avoid ever going there. Oh also, Ive had there food. Its typical bar food. MadRose used to be a favourite of ours. We would routinely order food for pick up, and dine in. When we would dine at the restaurant, it was usually full. However, we took some friends of ours last week to impress them with our knowledge of good places to eat, and were sorely disappointed. None of the food was anywhere near the quality that we had been accustomed. I ordered the Sicilian Penne, and the pasta was almost mush. The sauce was basically tomato paste straight from the can. No one finished their meal. I should have realized that something had changed when we first entered, and noticed the place was near empty. I thought we just had good luck, but it turns out that everyone else has already learned what we were about to. I'm really going to miss the food from Mad Rose, too bad they changed. read more

This place is legit. Hidden in the corner by the wal mart, you'll most likely drive by it without realising it. They have the best pizza in Calgary. My go to is the bacon cheeseburger pizza. If you go on Wednesdays it's 25% off all pizzas. Definitely worth stopping in if you are in Royal Oak! read more

My review will not be as comprehensive as the one before. I found this place just so so. Food OK but nothing great. I heard (not sure of this) that it"s owned by Spolumbos?? I agree with the location being well.............. crap. NO easy way to get out of. I am not sure why shopping centres are built with such poor access. Overall Meh read more

Went there for dinner. Sent two drinks back, one glass of wine had gone bad (and had gross looking floating stuff in it) and a beer had dish soap in it. And my pizza took more than half an hour to arrive (it was very good though.) And on top of that, I probably had the least friendly server you can imagine. Gonna give it one more try, but so far very disappointed. read more

My wife and I were in search of a new spot for wings during the week in the nw and were lucky enough to give Mad Rose a shot. We came around 6pm on Tuesday which is wing night. Place was about 70% full so we had no trouble finding a table. We had not been seated more then a minute and our server made welcoming eye contact and promptly brought us menus and explained the specials. Drinks came fast and the pints are actually 20oz. This is a rarity I have noticed lately. We only had wings and they were excellent. Big in size, hot, crispy and not drowning in sauce which we prefer. Service remained consistently good through our stay. We will definitely return. read more

My wife and I decided to try the Mad Rose Pub for the first time last night, Sat. March 10, 2018... We live close by and were skeptical based on our recent dining out disappointments all over Calgary... That is why I can confidently give the Mad Mad Rose Pub a solid 5 star rating after having such a great experience there. We walked in around 7:00pm and it was packed, we were lucky to find a seat at the bar, the Devore is pleasant with a clean, modern look, barstools are comfortable with a nice granite bar surface and 3 big screen TVs right there in front of you. The bartender was very friendly and informative and the nightly specials are clearly displayed for both drinks and food. We were going to order 3 entrees to share, but after advice sage advice ordered two, the cheeseburger and Butter Chicken with a draft beer and an Old Fashioned to drink. The super high quality of everything was amazingly fresh and tasty, it is so rare these days to have such a wonderful experience all the way around the first time trying a new place, highly recommended The Mad Rose to anyone looking for a night out for dinner and drinks! read more

The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because I have yet to visit this establishment in person, but I will now. It's too hot to cook and I have 2 little ones and was searching for something other than Chinese or just Pizza. I have tried the other pubs in Royal Oak/Rocky Ridge, even Crowfoot and have yet to be impressed until now. We ordered delivery during dinner time and the lady that answered the phone was pleasant and clear. She mentioned that delivery would be approximately 45 minutes and I expected as much. We ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, a med. pepperoni pizza with extra cheese, chicken tenders with fries, beef dip sandwich with fries, and a chicken sandwich with fries. First the food came 10 minutes earlier than expected and was hot! Pleasantly surprised and awesome when you have hungry kids! The food was excellent. Tasty, not at all greasy and portions are fantastic for adults, leftovers for the kids :-) Prices are comparable to other food establishments in the area. I had this place recommended to me first from a pub perspective as a place I might want to hang out at but now that we've had the food, looks like our next close to home, date night place to check out! We have been to this pub numerous times and the food has always been delicious! I've have never had a bad meal here. The pizza is the best in Calgary, I haven't found better. You can even do take out pizza if you want. They have a great selection of beers on tap, and lots of other cool drinks. Check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Best pub in the NW. I have been to Mad Rose at least once a month for the last two years and have never been disappointed. Service is outstanding and the food is always excellent. The pizza is the best I have ever had in Calgary! The sauce is amazing - tangy and sweet with a bit of a kick! Burgers are massive and juicy! Sandwiches are great too. Friday night fish and chips special is a great deal as well. This hidden gem is no longer a secret. read more

love this place! i have been here almost once a week since its has opened, i love that they have a great selection on the menu! one of my favourite items on the menu is the "Philly cheese steak" pizza. i have been in with my family for brunch a couple of times and the brunch was good as well, again they had a great selection of items to choose from. I was so happy to hear that they have started delivering. Mad Rose is one of my new obsessions. read more

This is our favorite place to eat in the NW. The pizza is phenomenal and they have 3 options for fries (waffle, thin (regular) and thick (beefsteak!! My favorite and hardly anyone has these anymore!)) The wings are really good (wing night is Tuesday - 25 cents each and I think maybe $5 domestic pints, so $10 and you're good!). The lasagna is great, the fish and chips are delicious, nachos are pretty good (no one can ever make them as good as you can at home, but they're fine), the calamari is great (very dilly - yum!) and the steak sandwich is always great- just don't ask for anything more than medium rare if you don't want it well done, but this seems to be the case at most places. It never has fat or gristle on it though, which is a big win in my books. The burgers are fantastic too. I've never tried anything there that wasn't great, actually, and everyone I ever go with thinks the same. There's a decent amount of parking, tons of tvs for the sports fans, and the service ranges from fine to great, but never 'bad'. It has great reviews for a reason! I've lived in Calgary since 1993 and this is the worst service I've ever had in bar/pub. We had a large group and our organizer phoned ahead. My wife and I arrived about 10 minutes late and there was nowhere for us to sit with our party. So we sat in a nearby empty booth (it's a bar, seat yourself, right?). One of our party sees us and comes to sit with us so we are not alone. The waitress comes over and asks if we want any drinks. We place an order. The person that came to join us tells the waitress that she already placed an order and just moved here to join us. The waitress then gets snarky and says "you guys can't keep moving tables". I asked "is there room to sit with our party?" to which she replies "It's a busy place, first-come first-serve and there is a Flames game tonight". I had another meeting that night in about half an hour so I tell the waitress "you know what? I don't want to be a bother. Just cancel my drink order, I'm only staying for a short while". She snaps "you don't want a drink now???". A few minutes later, a table opens up next to our group's long table, so we go join our group. The waitress comes around only occasionally and is obviously avoiding us at the end of the table. I then find out that I'm not needed at my other meeting so I decide to stay. Someone orders a pizza. When it arrives, I ask the person who brought it if I could have a beer. She says "sure" and takes my order. I then watch as she goes over to our waitress and tells her the drink order. The waitress asks who and when she sees it is me, she has a little conversation with the other waitress and we can all see she has no intention of bringing me a drink. So I sit there and the rest of my party is getting ticked off about this. I just say "let it go, I don't want to drink here if they don't want me to". The Flames game has since been on for about 45 mins and there are a few empty tables around us. When I've had enough visiting with my friends without being served, I leave. The whole front of the bar is EMPTY. So much for being busy on Flames night. I will not recommend this place. You only get one chance for a first impression. read more
