Feb.2026. We have tried the pasta at Nixx on thursday many times and very happy with it. So we decided to try the pizza on friday (half price). Sorry to say it was no better than a frozen pizza from the grocery store. I think it might be premade/frozen but can't confirm it. Not much flavour. We have had it there a couple years ago and it was good, home made. not now so if you're going to try it, don't pay full price, friday is half price. The patio is good in the summer time. we'll be back but won't be for pizza. read more

Used to frequent this place for years. Their kitchen used to be amazing. Their pizzas incredible. Their ribs and wings great... but everything is frozen and juat reheated now. My Shepard pie was half cold half scalding last night. Smothered in cheese(like wtf... Shepard pie doesn't get cheese)... its a total dive and trash now. 14 years of going ended last night. read more

After I had paid, 4:23 pm, my friend and I decided we wanted some more drinks. I went to the bar and asked the bar tender for a crown and coke and a rusty nail. Long black hair and a major attitude. She was extremely rude and acted like I had asked her something inappropriate. I don't appreciate being looked down upon when I had spent almost $200 in your establishment today. I called back to register a complaint and I got more attitude from the bar tender. You have lost a customer forever. Hope you're happy. Whenever I am meeting up with friends who live in the area, I will be sure to take them to another bar. Was it worth it? read more

Nice change in menu. They have great food and great staff. The selection of beers is one of best i have seen and wine selection is good. Wings are grezt nice and crispy and Wednesday wing night it is busy. They are $4.00 and as their add says" more than a pound". read more

This is one of my favorite neighborhood pubs. It's clean and modern with a rustic feel. I really like the large windows and bright atmosphere, therefore making it a guilt free pub visit during the daytime. It doesn't feel like you're holed up in a dark basement. My friend and I recently tried a unique appetizer. I can't remember the name (my friend graciously paid for the bill and took home the evidence), but it was similar to mozza sticks. It's actually a blend of mozza and cheddar cheese rolled in a crushed taco and spice kind of crust. It comes with your choice of dip and we tried the sweet chili. What an awesome combo and a great appie. I'd definitely order it again. I think prices are decent and service was great as always. read more

Since moving to the Highland Park/Tuxedo area, I've been searching for solid neighbourhood pubs for Friday after-work pints, wing nights, and good beer. Variety in the neighbourhood is definitely lacking, but a few small pubs are worth checking out, notably North on Center and this one - Nixx Neighbourhood Pub. It's within stumbling distance to my house, it has pool tables and a large bar - not to mention plenty of seating, including a sweet patio cornering Edmonton Trail and 24th Ave - and it even has a liquor store attached to it in case the bill starts to get steep. The one time I've gone in, the service was outstanding - our server definitely went above and beyond, constantly refilling our waters on the patio and making friendly conversation. The atmosphere is chill with a varied crowd of people having drinks and shooting the sh*t. After a nice spicy Caesar, I decided to order a Bacon Brie Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. The burger meat was tender, juicy and fresh. They might be using half beef/half pork, but don't quote me on that. Either way, it was absolutely delicious and just how I like to make it at home. There was the smallest streak of pink in the middle, which is a rare find in these parts due to ridiculous Canadian food industry laws. Lovers of tough, tasteless beef should never forget that it's the internal temperature that needs to be reached, not the brown colour. The slightly melted Brie cheese was a nice contrast to the crispy bacon, which was also excellently prepared - I hate bacon that breaks into ten bits when you bite into it. The veggies were freshly cut. My only qualm with the burger was the bun, which was toasted more than it needed to be, thus making it hard. The fries were also satisfying with the accompanying chipotle mayo - I finished it all and left with a full gut, even despite the lack of beer. Nixx is a great little neighbourhood spot with solid eats and outgoing service! I will be returning many a night during the frosty winter ahead. read more

Staff was friendly and so was the customer that was playing pinball behind our table. Facilities are clean; confirmed by both myself and my female companion. So my first wing night since being back and decided to come to this neighbourhood joint - my first time. $0.25/wing, Casual pub, LOVE that Calgary is now smoke free - great for my lungs (not so great for the smokers who have to go outside tho). TV screens, Pool table, and VLT's present. It was pretty busy for a wed night, probably a place that gets super packed on game nights. Wings were ok. Some batches were too overcooked = dry = tough meat = Boooo! But our last batch was cooked well = good wings. The best way to describe Nixx is to say it's like crossing a Canadian-ized Irish style pub with Boston Pizza. The interior screams pub - there are TVs everywhere. You can see one from just about every angle. They've got fridges full of different kinds of beer behind the bar in plain site, plenty of high bar style tables and stools and a pool table to top it off. Nixx has drink specials, food specials, wing night, and all the other glorious things that come with most pubs. The Boston Pizza comparison comes into play when you open the menu. Typical pub fair is burgers, sandwiches and probably a couple of meaty entrees. Nixx's has all of that and then some like pizza and pasta. Thursday night is pasta night, which is when I happened to be here. Any pasta dish for $10.95. Here's the other resemblance, portion sizes. I ordered the tortellini and ended up talking half of it home. It was alright. Kyle Y hit the nail on the head when he recommended ordering a pizza or an Italian sub. I'd like to add their burgers to this list. All in all, three yums up for Nixx's. read more

So, I'm sometimes not the most perceptive guy, but when our regular Wednesday-night-wings haunt (The Top Brass) started closing their kitchen at 9 p.m. and bumping under our chairs with the vacuum as we sipped our beer (usually Canadian, because that was the only thing we trusted to be fresh) I realized it was time to find a new place. We tried Beckham's, which is just down 32nd, but they had the same reluctance to accept regular customers and cash, and were apparently not interested in welcoming new customers, who like to eat food, drink beer, then tip generously. Anyway, we found ourselves across the tracks (and Deerfoot trail) at Nixx, perched along an industrial, strip-mall infested section of Edmonton trail ... which I guess is really all of Edmonton trail ... anyway, Nixx welcomed us with open arms, there were no slow motion hugs, as we walked in the door, but we were enthusiastically welcomed and asked to select our seats of choice, which was nice since we were used to being told, "We're closing in half an hour, but you can order if you want ..." or more pertly, "Get out." Wednesday is wing night, and Nixx usually features a beer from Calgary's Village Brewery. While their draft selection is kind of ho-hum, it's augmented by an outstanding beer fridge. One day, when I win the lottery, or no longer have to report to a soul killing place of employment on Thursday mornings, I'm going on a mini-world tour of the beer fridge, one bottle at a time. Okay, so what sealed the deal for my posse, is that the wings are all quite good, but the exceptional wing flavour lurking on the menu is the "spicy parm." They are plump, and sharp with the parmesan, and coated with a buffalo sauce that really makes it a spectacular accompaniment to beer. We usually get the nachos and they're also above average, but not the best I've ever had, and frankly a little light on the jalapeños. It's a working class, neighbourhood pub. Service is friendly and they appreciate customers, all-in-all, that's all I want on a Wednesday wing-night. read more

I agree with Kyle Y., this pub for sure has a neighbourhood feel! The kind of place with some serious regulars. We came in for lunch on a Sunday, the place wasn't dead but it wasn't bumping either. The food was okay, just seemed like pub food but I didn't really order anything that would be a good representative of what they are going for. I think I should have had something italian but instead I had a buffalo chicken wrap with poutine. It's too bad I didn't try something else, part of me feels like I should go back to try an italian sub or pasta. The service was ...interesting. Inconsistent I suppose is a fair way to describe it. One example: I had a water and soda, my friend had a water as well. He finished his water and asked for a refill, instead of bringing him one, the waitress said he could just have mine because I hadn't drank it yet! She wasn't joking either, she meant it and didn't come back to fill his water. Weird, no? Don't love or hate it, it's just one of those places that seems kind of..beige? Nothing about this place really grabs me. That being said, if it was in my neighbourhood I could see this as a place I might get to know better. read more

A personal favourite of mine when I'm in Calgary. This Italian bar has a great local neighbourhood feel. The food is very good for Italian bar food. I would recommend one of the pizzas or an Italian sub. Plenty of TVs up high to watch hockey and a few VLTs. There is also a coin op pool table a few arcade games. This is my neighbourhood pub, and it does that well. Decent specials and busy enough to feel lively even during the week. The service is hit and miss, I've known a few servers here and they seem to have a high turnover rate. The took the Kronenbourg Blanc off their draught beer list which made me sad, but they still have it bottled so I'll survive. The food I've had is quite good, nothing that will blow your mind but decent standard pub fare with some Italian twists. read more

Every single time I go here the waitresses are super rude, they are nice to male patrons. I live down the street, they give me attitude , super long wait times before I even get served. It was Wing Wednesday and I know wings aren't to go hit I had a few wings left and didn't want to waste them and the new "manager" girl wouldn't let me take them home I literally had three wings. I could of thrown them out but why waste! She spent half her time with her arms crossed talking to a regular at he bar. This pub could be so much more but they hire c"nts for staff. Come for the beer and to watch a game. Stay to see a fight. Pasta... the sauce is bland and the pasta overcooked. Pizza is pub pizza. Perogies... perogies. Sandwiches... meh. Salads... it's hard to mess up a salad. Nixx used to have some reliable dishes, but now it seems to be meals-in-a-bag. Synergy among the staff falls when Peter is away. Too bad, I really used to like this place for food, still good for a beer. Lots of TVs and history in the decor. Lots of history. The decor has been there for a lonnnngggg time. We've seen other bars in the neighborhood take a quick dive to save food cost before coming back with a better menu. Let's hope Nixx is this agile as well. Smokers are not policed away from the door, and there are a lot of them, be prepared to risk cancer when you walk in. read more

Been there 3 times. First time on wing night-all 4 of us had UNDERCOOKED RAW chicken wings. Second time-waitress forgot to put our food order in - took an hour for food. Third and final time - 2 hour wait from Time of food order to eating. Has the chicken and Brie burger- chicken was covered in neon blue small spots....... WTF. Not once was/were we offered a discount or a free drink for their constant screw ups. They need to get their act together. On to somewhere that knows basic customer service. read more

This pub Used to be good but it's completely pathetic. I've taken two other people to this pub hoping it be better the first time I've been there in years and the service and the food sucked. Went there today and it was completely embarrassing and the girls did not know what they were doing. I would not recommend this pub ever again spend your money and at well-established place with no flakes Serving you. From what it used to be this pub is a complete embarrassment. I used to think Nixx was a great find if you want a decent pub in the NW that's not in Kensington. Having delicious Village Blacksmith on tap and really good wings and pizza helped that cause. The service is usually good and their weekly specials are great. Lately, it has gone downhill though. They no longer let you take home your remaining slices on pizza night, but they're hardly ever busy enough to indicate that people are abusing the special. It just seems unnecessarily cheap on the owner's part. They also replaced the fabulous, local-brewed Village Blacksmith on tap with, wait for it, Samuel Adams, which means I will have to find another low-key neighborhood pub that pours a mean Blacksmith. read more

Horrible service and food. Ordered a Cheeseburger pizza. It came with 90% of it being huge cut up pickles. The meat was literally a previously frozen processed hamburger, cut into big chunks with only one piece of meat on each slice. Also ordered a Clubhouse sandwich. It came with pieces of crust stuffed into the sandwich to fill it up. There was huge man handprints sunk into the bread. It was gross and very unappetizing. When we complained to the waitress she said we ate a bite of the sandwich so we had to pay half the meal which was ridiculous. After waiting 45 minutes for one little pizza and a clubhouse, I was so hungry I never inspected my meal before that first bite. She also said they have "genuine Italian chefs right from Italy" working in the kitchen. What a joke. She was rude and never even tried to smooth the situation over. In here words "Well I'm sorry you feel that way" and she let us walk out pissed off and hungry. Very disappointed. DO NOT recommend this pub. read more

We are new to the area and decided to go to NIXX for dinner on Saturday evening after seeing they advertised a steak sandwich special for $9.95 on Saturday's; they even advertise it on the sign above their entrance. We ordered drinks and after they came we inquired about the steak sandwich special and were told there was no such special. We inquired further mentioning their website and the front door sign and received the same cold, uninterested response. On Monday I called and spoke with "the manager" and was informed that they changed their specials, no apology or explanation. It's too bad we weren't treated with some understanding or care because we would likely return; not now. It is obvious they don't care about customers who have choices where they spend their money. Maybe that is why there was only two other people in the place on a Saturday evening. read more

We frequent Nicastro's often - not so much that we are regulars, but when ever we want to have a drink and watch the game - this is the place to go. The food is fantastic, service is pretty good, there are pool tables and a lot of sitting room. read more

I wouldn't recommend this pub to ANYONE!!!! The menus were so dirty that we couldn't turn the pages. We waited forever for SALADS and when they arrived one had 2 hairs on it! The server faked an OMG and they charged us for the hairy meal!!! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!! read more
