Displayed in front of us from multiple directions was a pornographic film (which is not an issue) a couple was performing intercourse in a barn where they are actively pulling a chicken apart with their bare hands. Myrna's used to be very welcoming to people of all kinds and a fun atmosphere to be enjoyed by everyone. I'm not sure what happened or if the server was just having a bad night, but I had a very bad experience and will likely never go again (definitely not on my own). I wrote an email to management making them aware of my bad experience, but it's been a couple weeks and nobody has responded as of yet. I was yelled at in my face and accused of things I certainly didn't do with people I certainly wasn't with (I calmly explained that I came alone). My proper pronouns were not even used by the person screaming at me to "get the f*** out". When I asked if they were ok they responded by saying "you're not ok, you're crying like a little b****". I was indeed crying at this point because my ptsd was triggered horribly on multiple levels. Nobody else working there seemed to care nor helped. I asked to speak with a manager, but they were physically pushing me towards the door so I just wished them well and left as requested. I'm not sure how to feel about supporting a place that allows employees to treat patrons in such a harsh hostile manner, especially if it's truly a place that welcomes "everyone". I'm still baffled as to why it all even happened, because I would never treat another human being the way I was treated that night. I've heard from people who went there that say "they don't like straight people in there", but wondered how anyone could read my mind to know how I identify as far as gender and sexuality. Point is - they can't. I genuinely hope that isn't why I was so rudely discriminated against (simply looking heterosexual) and unfairly treated for no real reason. Others may have better experiences and have fun and feel welcomed, but I no longer feel comfortable being there on my own now, it is just not a safe space to me anymore. I wish that whole ordeal ended differently and hope that whatever was really upsetting the server that night got better for them. :( read more

I can't wait to attend more events here! I finally got to visit Myrna's for a day party on their patio. They have parking in the back (really the front) of their building. It is beautiful and fancy inside Myrna's. Burlesque vibes, but clean. They have a full cocktail menu and food menu. Our day party was called "Love Me Tender," so they had specialty chicken tendy's with different (creative) dipping sauces available. So yum! DJ Covy, and company were spinning r&b tunes in the sunshine. They had yard games and a Photo Booth. Mad Myrna's has rotating slushy Margs...on tap! Mad Myrnas has really gone through a transformation in these past few years. While i miss the old wild west days of the early 2000s when I practically lived there, but time ages us all and eventually we have to grow up. And thats the feel I get at Myrnas. What used to be a divey fun spot with inconsistent typical greasy bar food options has matured into a mellow laid back relaxing environment to grab a bite to eat. Wednesday are my favorite days to dine in. The bar is frequented by its karaoke regulars who serenade the patrons with spirited renditions of show tunes and top 40 hits from every decade. Its a fun and interactive way to spend a week night. I have probably ate the entire menu at this point. My favorites are the pizza... any topping really but my favorite thing is the crust. Idk what it is but i like it a lot. I like to take my crust and dip it into the shells and cheese. The shells and cheese can be rich if eaten alone but pairs perfectly with the pizza crusts, also the steak add on is a must for your shells and cheese. A favorite amongst my friends and family is the cauliflower Buffalo wings. Honestly im not a fan of vegetables but Id eat these all day. (I mean battered and deep fried, why wouldn't i love it?) The soba bowl reminds me of fried saimin, its a good flavor and gives me nostalgia of my childhood snack back in the islands. Staff is always so attentive and helpful. I have yet to have any negative experience with the service at Myrnas. The staff are fairly upbeat and fun if not a bit on the flirty side. But its alaway fun safe and respectful. Zero stars if that were an option. I brought my sister for her first visit during the Fetish Ball 2026, and the experience was absolutely unacceptable. The event was extremely poorly organized from start to finish. The club promoted that GA tickets would be available at the door in limited quantities, so we arrived early and lined up at 8:50 PM for the 9:00 PM door opening. Instead, we were forced to stand outside in 13°F freezing temperatures for over an hour with no communication, no organization, and no concern for the people waiting. There was no system in place for managing the line. People who already had tickets were allowed inside continuously while those of us waiting to purchase GA tickets were left standing at the front of the line, literally at the door, watching people walk in while we froze. What made it worse was the complete lack of coordination or consideration from the staff. If the club was going to advertise GA ticket sales at the door, they should have had a proper system to handle it. Instead, people were left waiting in dangerous cold with no information and no structure. About half the people behind us eventually gave up and left because the situation was so poorly handled. I used to be a regular here, but after this experience I will not be returning. The way this event was managed showed a complete disregard for guests and a serious lack of basic event organization. If you're going to promote ticket sales at the door, at the very least have the professionalism to manage the line and treat people with basic consideration. read more

If I could leave zero stars, I would. I'm visiting from out of state and happened to be in town during the Fetish Ball, so decided to check it out. Unfortunately we didn't purchase tickets ahead of time. The event advertising mentioned that a limited number of tickets would be available at the door, but the process for people without tickets was extremely disorganized. We waited in line for over an hour and barely saw any movement MIND YOU THERE WAS FREEZING TEMPERATURES!! Many people behind me eventually gave up and left. While I understand that guests who already purchased tickets should be prioritized, there could have been a better system LIKE 1-1 entry between those with tickets and those waiting to buy at the door. Overall, the organization felt HORRIBLE and poorly managed. For a venue that promotes respect and inclusivity, the experience didn't reflect those values WHATSOEVER. Wow! If we gave an award for "most improved" businesses in Anchorage, Mad Myrna's would win it, hands down! This place used to be, functionally, a dive bar. Almost like a more queer-friendly version of Darwin's Theory. It was fine for what it was but, outside of their great events and being one of two gay bars in Anchorage, it wasn't much to write home about. Now? It might be the fanciest bar/club in Anchorage! During/post COVID they have done a complete remodel, and it feels like a completely different place. It feels plush. It feel luxe. The lighting is more moody and the vibe is more sexy. They have a cocktail menu with drinks that are both made from scratch and cleverly named. The food has also been completely re-done, it's excellent. If you haven't been to MM's in a few years, you really need to give them another shot! read more

Pride Night Disgrace - Rude Staff, Unsafe Behavior We're a group of 12 locals who went to Mad Myrna's this past Saturday to celebrate Pride -- and it ended up being one of the most upsetting nights we've had at a club in Anchorage. The bartender at the outdoor patio -- a white female -- was shockingly rude and unprofessional. One of our friends tipped her $3 after ordering around 6 drinks. We always tip, but she clearly felt entitled to more. She told my friend flat-out, "If you're not going to tip more, don't come back to this bar." That's incredibly inappropriate. Tipping is voluntary and based on service -- not something to bully people over. Later in the night, we simply asked for water -- because we were trying to sober up before heading home. One of our friends felt nauseous and dizzy. The same bartender refused to serve us and said, "I told you I'm not helping you." Then she escalated things even further by calling security and having us removed -- just for asking for water. That is completely unacceptable, unsafe, and dangerous behavior. We are paying customers, Alaska locals, and we were treated with pure disrespect. This is not just about bad service -- it's about a toxic attitude, entitlement, and a lack of basic human decency. Denying someone water and calling security over a tip dispute? That's disgusting. We will not be coming back, and we'll be sharing this experience with our community. Mad Myrna's is racist. If you're not white, they don't value your money. The only thing they're missing is the "Whites only" sign on the door, but don't worry: The message is clear when you walk in. I'm an ex local. I was visiting this past weekend from Seattle and I was so excited to meet all my friends at "Anchorages most inclusive bar". When we arrived a short rude white lady turned us away refusing to accept my ID. There was a whole punched in it from moving but I had my temporary paper copy. She refused to explain why, and her colleague had accepted someone else in our group who had a paper copy. Regardless, we were excited to go to this bar specifically, so I went home and picked up my passport. When we finally got in and got to the bar, we tried to order six different drinks off the menu. They told us they were out of six different cocktails, including a pina colada the people in front of us had ordered prior to our turn. Before we could ask for the seventh drink, a separate white bartender comes up to our party and said "someone here smells like B.O and they need to fucking leave". We had all gotten ready together just 45 minutes prior, we all showered. Also, it was 11pm on a saturday in a completely packed bar. There were countless grown men who were showered in sweat, as this is a club for DANCING!! She proceeded to come up to us multiple times threatening to call security if we didn't leave. As we were headed out the door, we dropped off our shot glasses and found that same lady cheeks deep sniffing her own sweaty armpits. Indulging in alcohol makes you sweat, and she seemed very indulgent. I was honestly so surprised someone so sweaty could talk that crazy to me, but I was even more surprised to find out this is a regular occurrence for POC in this establishment. One of my friends pointed out she was one of the only emoloyees not wearing a "fuck ice" tee-shirt so i'm not sure what I expected. At the least for her to mind her sweaty ass business. Arrived late at night looking for a drink and some food, most places around were closed but luckily this place was walking distance from my hotel and I'm so glad I tried it out. This is my absolute favorite club, hands down (or hands up if you're having that good of a time!). I've been going to Myrna's since before it was remodeled, it was a great time back then and now it's even better. The food is absolutely amazing. It's not bar food at all, it's REAL food and it's so damn delicious! The drinks are super tasty and fun. Last time I was here I had a drink called Big Swish and it was soooo good and came with a cute little mermaid on the rim. My friend had the Classy Trashy that came with a little can of champagne in it, it was kinda like 2 drinks in 1 and was super tasty. The service is always good. In all the times I've been here I've never had any issues. The bartenders are friendly and pretty cool. Misha is my favorite, she's always such a blast and never fails to make a good drink. I always come for the drag shows, they never disappoint! I've been to drag shows in 5 different states and Myrna's consistently puts on the best show. The drag queens are amazing and so fun! My favorites are Golden Delicious and Hank Vandickerson. It's no wonder that Hank is kind of a local celeb, he's not only a fantastic drag performer, but honestly a good human. As a bisexual woman, I always feel welcome here. I've been to some gay clubs where the regulars looked at me like just another straight girl ruining the gay vibe, thankfully that's never happened at Myrna's. Overall the vibe at Myrna's is classy and fun. I don't live in Alaska anymore so I can't go here regularly, but I always go whenever I'm in town and recommend it to anyone I know who's visiting Anchorage. Pleasant surprise! Came here for the food. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS. 10/10. Price is extremely fair and portions are huge. Most importantly, taste amazing. Atmosphere is relaxed plays early 2000 r&b with some modern hip hop, pop, and r&b earlier in the night. Starting at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays there is a cover charge and they offer shows. I came for the food but would love to come for the shows one day. Drinks! Margaritas were on point. However there was a long piece of hair in one of my drinks. They did comp it and stuff happens. If you are not a big bar person at least go for the food! This food was amazing. The soba noodle bowls were probably my favorite. Also the chicken sandwich was very juicy and crispy. Honestly I have had a lot better quesadillas for sure. But everything else was top notch food for a bar. I never need to do that again. Went for the drag show and it lived up to the name, Drag. Been to real shows in Los Angeles where they actually have talent and put on a show. This is where drag queens come to die. As you'll see by the photos, they don't even really try. Super crowded, limited seating, leaky roof, 2 obstructing trash cans in the small walkway collecting the dripping water. The chick who ran the light is a rude bitc#.
