Chopped cheese fries
Hiba M.

I've ate here 3-4 times, and was never impressed. It is just a great late night option since it's halal. But tonight, was different, who ever was back there cooking the food needs a raise!! The young man was so nice, quick, and my chopped cheese fries are sooo good. Last few times the food was lacking. But my expectations were exceeded today. I want to go back and tip that kid again, cause he really put in 100%.

If you're in the mood for a high-quality hotdog experience with a side of urban grit, Mad Dog's food truck in the Moosa Colony food park off Highway 6 in Sugarland has you covered. Or, at least, your hotdog wrapper covered. First impressions? The vibe is... post-apocalyptic chic. A dozen food trucks grace this lot, but on a Sunday afternoon, only two were brave enough to open their hatches. Ordering is via kiosk--convenient but a tad dystopian. The dining area is a charming mélange of greasy tables and trash cans on the brink of rebellion. Bring your own Wet Wipes and lower your expectations for ambiance. We went all in: an Elote dog, a chili cheese dog, chili cheese fries, and regular fries. The Elote Dog Let's start with my choice, the Elote dog. High marks for the hotdog itself--it's sliced down the middle, grilled to perfection, and downright luxurious for a hotdog. The bun was fluffy, fresh, and resilient (no soggy mess here). The toppings were lime-forward, which I appreciated, but the disappointment came with the cream cheese and corn that decided the paper wrapper was a better home. Honestly, scraping your wrapper for flavor shouldn't be part of the dining experience, but here we are. The Chili Cheese Dog & Fries My husband braved the chili cheese dog, which was tasty but leaned greasy. That chili worked double duty on the fries, which held up admirably under its weight. The fries deserve their own standing ovation--crispy, golden, and soft on the inside. Between the two types, we'd crown the plain fries the winner of the day. The Verdict Mad Dog's hotdogs are undeniably delicious, with premium beef and buns that are MVPs in the fast-food world. The chili? Decent, but perhaps it needs a spa day to relax the grease levels. The food park itself, however, is a chaotic neutral character in this story--serviceable, but not a place you'd bring someone to impress them. Final Thoughts Would we return? Sure, but we'd bring our own napkins, a garbage bag for the table, and maybe a hazmat suit for the trash cans. Mad Dog's is a culinary diamond in the rough... emphasis on rough.

Haven't had a hotdog place that I can go to and KNOW I will enjoy since JCI closed down. I stumbled across this location one late night when I was craving food. I don't like fast food restaurants. It only took me one bite and I knew I would be back soon! Just full of flavor and not skimpy like other hotdogs places you find, that really makes a difference. Ordering is simple and easy, and the gas station parking lot they are in is well lit, and has some tables to sit at when waiting or eating. They're many locations as well in the city so I hope this one stays here for a while.

This placed was really good! I had the Elote hotdog, and it did not disappoint. I felt like it was a little pricey. For two hot dogs, a side of elote, a Dublin coke, and a side of season fries, we paid about 35 bucks. I got the seasoned fries, but they were not seasoned enough in my opinion. Overall, I will be back in the future to try some other hotdogs. I did not give a five star rating due to the price and lack of seasoning.

I love hotdog and I have never had one from a food truck. The food truck is parked at a gas station, and there are other food trucks in the lot too. There isn't a big parking space so I could imagine the bad traffic during peak hours. There is no tables nor chairs nor benches for anyone to sit around to enjoy the food. Car is the way to go. Menu is on the truck, and order and payment were quick and easy via the device outside the truck. I had the elote dog in non-spicy beef. While the beef link was ok, the roasted corn wasn't fresh and wasn't roasted enough. There wasn't enough Parmesan on the hotdog too. The bun was plain and nothing more. It could be better. Overall from what I had, the food didn't stand out nor wowed me.

So the Mr was in the mood for chili cheese dogs and had googled places that sell them near us and this place popped up. We initially thought it was a brick and mortar but soon realized that it was a food truck. The menu is pretty basic smash burgers, a few different chili dog options and loades fries. We stepped up to the kiosk in front ordered the chili cheese dog, loaded fries, and double smash burger combo person at window said it would be about 10-15 minutes it actually turned out to be 30+ minutes, they were getting constant pick up orders so we thought this place has to be good. We got our food and decided to eat there. Our food was lukewarm(very disappointing) the burger wasn't seasoned well (I would assume they rely on their special sauce) the fries were somewhat soggy. The loaded fries were actually hot. The chili was mediocre. We had sat there eating and the manager/owner walked out and asked how was it we told him it was cold and handed him the whole burger I wasn't going to eat and he apologized and made me a new one and said they had got bombarded he was very apologetic. The new HOT burger was better still not alot of seasoning though. We won't be in a rush to go back but we are willing to give it another go solely on customer service and the willingness to make it RIGHT. They were getting alot of business though..

Brisket dog - burned
Heather B.

Ordered 2 double smash burgers, a chili cheese dog, a brisket dog, & fries - the fries were missing and the hot dogs were absolutely burned and charred. Everything else was good - but the bitter char on the hot dogs made it awful. Pics included to show how black these were.

We got the regular mad dog to get a basis of how the hot dogs were. If you ever had Yo-yo's hotdogs, then it's the same concept but if not, the meat with the condiments really do compliment each other. We also got the smash burger which was 9/10 amazing, it was pretty small for the price of $6 but the patty was very well seasoned. The fries... oh fries... 10/10. Just try them. We thought the lemonade was hand crafted however it came in a glass bottle but surprisingly I would get it again. I'd like to come back to try the other options as well but so far it's a good place to try especially late nights.

The pani puri was good - especially the imli chutney. The "pani" had a nice flavor but the chutney really took it to the next level. I do wish that there was a little more filling inside the puris but overall it was good. The samosa chat was very good. I would say 8/10. But the star of the show was the masala fries. There were two different types of masala on top and they really made you feel like you were back "home" having these from the street vendors. They were crispy on the outside and just melted in your mouth delicious on the inside. The contrasting flavors of the two different powders on top really made it magical in your mouth. Like the fries were so good we got a second order. When I placed the second order of the fries, I also got a chai. The owner/worker is so nice that he asked me how I wanted the chai i.e. strong/sweet/etc. It took a while for them to bring it out which means that it was made to order and it tasted fantastic! I can't wait to go back and try the other items when I am back in the area.

Adjacent is a Mad Dog (hot dog and burgers; Elote Fries are to die for) food truck. Lovely couple Raj and his wife running the show at Tikka Munch. Food took at least 45 mins to get ready (Alert: Just the two of them working hard, be patient). Ordered Chole with Basmati Rice, Spicy Sczechuan Hakka Noodles, Pav Bhaji with extra Pav, Samosas, Garlic Naan, and a can of Thums Up. The meal set us back approx. $53, including taxes and tip. Portion sizes were middling - could have used more given the price point. We are very picky regarding food, as both wife and I cook a lot. Taste was decent but not authentic or spectacular; unfortunately the requested-spicy dishes were just raw heat (not cooked down) and unbalanced (balance between heat, tartness, saltiness, sweetness, and flavor, being the hallmark of good Indian cooking). A good initiative by a young couple - they are very friendly and welcoming. Our picky experience/tastes apart, others seem to adore the fare as noted via the 5-star Google reviews. Wish we could rate similarly; shall return however and try other dishes. Do support this young family - running a restaurant/food truck is extremely hard. They deserve community support!

Love this little truck!…read more Here at Desi Vibes, you get the full food truck experience. Friendly service, a rotating menu, affordable prices (got two meals for $12), operating hours that you just kind of need to check before you go, and most importantly, hot, tasty, messy food. The doubles were the reason I came, and I was lucky to pick some up on a Saturday evening. The pepper sauce is perfect, and they have a great chutney on top. If you're new to Trini street food, doubles are a popular small dish that you'll find in most towns across the island nation, commonly eaten for breakfast. Essentially it's chickpeas in a curry-like sauce served on two bara (which function like a tortilla). It's delicious and unlike most familiar flavor profiles, and it's definitely worth trying here because these folks knock it out of the park. The mushroom burger came out hot - almost too hot to hold. The patty was cooked well-done, which is worth noting if you prefer a medium cook on your burger. The mushrooms, onions, and sauce got everywhere - it was glorious. Can't wait to go back and try the loaded fries, shrimp fritters, and more of their authentic Trini dishes!

One order has 3 sliders with mini beef patties topped with cheese, grilled onions, and jalapeños - all in all super delicious! The loaded fries were pretty good too but I will say that the cheese sauce was slightly lacking in flavor. The spicy chicken sandwich was nice and crispy but the coleslaw was a bit too sweet for my liking. The chicken itself was a little dry inside so I think some kind of sauce would be a great addition! Make sure you check them out on instagram to see menu updates before you go. Their prices are so reasonable and it's nice to have more halal options in North Houston!
