I pride myself on being intelligent and calling ahead. However, I now find myself waiting for my food. This place is a dungeon. It's that IRAQ HEAT. LordT, please order ahead or you will have to survive Sauna like conditions. I was trying to choose some desert but, the display is sweating so profusely... I placed my order at 1:30 and it is now 2:03PM and I need to be some where at 2:30. I almost cancelled my order.

Rasta Pasta is delicious. The best I've ever had. Will definitely order this again. Beef patties were just right.

This is my second visit to the Mad Cow Grill. I was extremely pleased with my food. However, now that I'm visiting for a second time, I come to recognize that customer service during both visits is initially slow. I stood at an empty register for approximately 5 minutes waiting to give my order. The staff who did come to register was inaudible, and I find I have to lean in just hear him. My intent was to sit and have a meal. Considering the tables were left uncleared, i asked could someone to clear a table, but that went undone. I opted for something quick (beef patty) instead of oxtails because I was not feeling that the meal would be any better than the customer service or the ambiance of the place. This establishment potential is there. But it is quickly falling into another poorly managed restaurant. Please do better!

Everything was delicious I think the jerk chicken could've been a bit spicier for my liking but overall very good and fall of the bone, the rice was so good and the Mac and cheese was perfect I would recommend this place for lunch Service was pretty good as well and the vibe is very laid back.

    Rasta pasta- nice flavor

I've been wanting to try this place and since I was in the area I stopped and got lunch for my dad& I. The "unforgettable " oxtails lacked flavor and at $23 all you get is 2 pieces. The rice&peas tasted like it was made with basmati rice and the cabbage had an interesting flavor. It looked like they seasoned it with curry but it didn't taste like curry. The mac&cheese was just ok. The rasta pasta had a nice taste to it and is the only thing I'd get again. I doubt I will eat here again. There are too many other options with better flavors

Staff is welcoming, atmosphere is good! The chips that came with the burger was perfect, season well, not oily and good size! The GOT is well put together and the bread is soft and fresh. The burger was moist and not over cooked. Will be back

Visited this spot following a long bike ride with my friends. Very nice location. Friendly staff! Food is Jamaican fare and is absolutely delicious! I had the curry chicken with spinach. The chicken was spicy but not overly spicy. Spinach was flavorful and very tasty! My friend had the Rasta Pasta which was equally delicious! Next time I'm in the area I'm going to check out more menu items.

Went with a friend to try something new. Service was good. Waiter did a great job explaining the history of the restaurant and made recommendations. Was headed toward one of the Caribbean dishes when I saw a tray of burgers walk by. Each burger was stacked sky high, skewered by a bamboo pick to keep it all together. Immediately turned to the burger page in the menu and was captivated by the combinations listed. Ordered the Game of Thrones burger with a side of the truffle mac and cheese. The burger was good and it came out a bit The brie was a nice flavor. Never had that on a burger before. The winner, hands down, was the mac and cheese as conveyed by our waiter. Good portion and one of the best I have had in a restaurant in some time. Little too much oil in the bottom of the dish, but who cares when everything above it was so good! Desserts are made locally. I had a piece of the orange cake (forgot to take a pic, sorry). It was good. Solid dessert with the cake having a good flavor and texture. Icing was good, too, but I left most of it to save some calories. Will definitely go back to try the recommended Caribbean dishes next time.

I'm so sad to write this review. I'll start nicely by saying the customer service was amazing! But unfortunately I did not enjoy my meal at all if I were you I would stick to the Jamaican dishes. I got the mad cow wings. They do not look like that Smokey wing amazing pictures I saw on the website and on here. It was seasoned but just plain party wings. thought it would be smoked wings I also got the Mac and cheese and cake. I didn't like those either :( If you aren't a sugar person and enjoy that light texture of icing, this is your type of cake. Unfortunately I'm a birthday cake type of girl so I was expecting it to be sweeter. All in all, I don't think I will be coming back to this location for wings. I'm sure the Jamaican dishes are banging though!!

    Billy I.

The food is better than decent however the customer service is lack lustre at best. I have given this place a second chance only to be disappointed both times.. This spot has a lot of potential it's sad to see it wasted this way. Along with the poor customer service my fiancé and I were told it would be a 20-25 min wait for our food at most only to end up being forced to wait 45 mins without a simple apology. This will be my last time spending my money at this establishment.

Unforgettable Braised Oxtails and Curried Cabbage
    Robyn P.

Finally! A quality Caribbean restaurant nearby! Loved: Customer service. Every employee was polite in greeting and making recommendations and dining in service. It wasn't busy so I was able to have my food in minutes...I'm sure that may change as they become more popular and extend their hours. The food was pretty good and filling! Black owned! Musts: Try the oxtails and curried cabbage! Oxtails come with plantains but I replaced with cabbage and the cabbage was my favorite! Oxtails fell off the bone! Eh: Only 4 stars for now because they have modified hours and no bar or brunch yet. I believe it's coming tho, and I'll be back for it!

These are fantastic and have to be house-made. They are so flaky and delicious! Our party of 3 sampled the trio appetizers with spinach dip, chicken tenders, and cheese bites. All were excellent! The chips light and crispy. The spinach dip was creamy. The cheese bites were great. The fried chicken tenders had an amazing light and crunchy coating. I'm picky with fried foods and this place is top notch. The battered foods don't feel greasy and have a great crunch. The homemade ranch and honey mustard dressings were a great accompaniment. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The sides were perfect. The chicken fried steak had that great crunchy coating. The steak would have been a little better if the meat had been pounded a little thinner, but was still okay. My friend had a Caesar salad that was too heavy on the dressing, so recommend you order your dressing on the side if you get a salad. The facilities were clean, but I did notice a few issues that needed attention. A broke stall lock and a tile falling off the wall. Our server was fantastic. There was plenty of parking out front. I enjoyed this spot. A great place to eat.

The Castellano had a crisped pile of gorgeous beef, with crispy fries, and super fresh veggies (basically a cheeseburger on a sub). My husband ordered this one, so I didn't taste it personally but he absolutely LOVED it. The Thommy, The Three Fingers is a chopped cheese. It's, by god, the best I've ever had in my life. I add peppers, provolone and mayo and an extra side of tzatziki (labeled garlic cucumber on the menu), and oil and vinegar (which tastes like Italian dressing, but who's counting?). The bread is phenomenal. I may literally just order a sub roll with no ingredients one day, just so I can eat it toasted with butter, with every meal I have. It's soft and fluffy, crispy and chewy all at the same time. (It almost gives bagel, but not tough). I also got the y cheesecake. Not as special, perhaps from the Cysco truck (iykyk), but I still bought it and scarfed it down. Strawberry topping was def the average canned-strawberry topping (but I personally love that). I cannot stress, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD! As for service, the entire team is so friendly and helpful. They kid around, make silly jokes and make sure your order is prepared fresh and fast. It isn't "fast food fast", but also doesn't taste like shit either, so the wait is worth it. At most 10-15 min if you don't call ahead. As for seating, in winter there are only two two-tops so seating is extremely limited. It is mostly a deli-and-get-outta-here kind of place, but nonetheless welcoming and charming. They have tons of Italian memorabilia all over the walls including giant GodFather posters, taxi plates and more. Today was my first time inside, but I've had my husband go pick up food several times on the way home. I cannot live without one of these subs AT MINIMUM once a month.

All 3 starters were delicious, with my favorite being the crab stuffed oysters. The Mac & cheese was a close second - it was nicely seasoned and perfectly au dente. The vegetables were also very good, and the pita it came with was great. On the breakfast menu, we ordered the chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. Both were very good. I haven't had many chicken and waffles, but the chicken was tasty with the hot honey. The shrimp and grits was very flavorful. If I had to pick one though, I would probably pick the shrimp and grits. We walked in and were blessed to immediately get a table despite being told it may be an hour wait on the phone. We received a menu and ordered the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and gravy. Our food came extremely fast which surprised me and makes me wonder how much is prepped ahead. My friend received the burrito and it was very greasy so she requested to order something else. My biscuits and gravy were yummy. The eggs were cooked well and the fried chicken was the star of the show. Easily this was some of the best chicken I have had in a while. I overall enjoyed my meal but I wish there was way more gravy as there was only a little bit layered on top of the 2 biscuits. My friend was given a menu to order something else and this menu was different and had dinner options. It was 4:30 when we came and not more than 15 minutes of difference before receiving a menu the second time so we were surprised but eager to look. My friend ordered the half chicken which came with collard greens and grits. Since there was a different menu I wasn't aware of I wanted to order something additional and opted for saving the brunch meal I ordered for breakfast tomorrow. I loveeee scallops so when I seen them on the menu especially over grits I had to order it. The scallops were cooked wonderfully and I loved the composition of the dish with the creamy grits and the acid from the tomatoes and the smokiness of the sauce and grits. My friend loved the half chicken and after trying it myself we both agreed Matt and Tony's knows how to cook chicken well. The greens had nice flavor but were a little dry and needed some broth/juice from cooking. Again the grits were delicious and creamy with a bit of smoky flavor. I also had the Peso Cocktail which was sweet with a nice kick. Overall I enjoyed this restaurant and would come again and absolute what I ordered again as well. Coming here next time will be hard cause I'm definitely going to be battling between wanting what I already had and trying something new.

My drink was done and so was my friends and we're were ready to go. We inquired about the food and said we just wanted to cancel it so we could cash out and go somewhere else. The guy says--2 more minutes it's coming, then dipped off to the kitchen. We tell the girl behind the bar that we want to cancel the food and just cash out the drinks. She lied and said that the guy was going to get a manger to take the food off. A few minutes later the guy came out with the hardest chicken strips I've had in a long time. The honey mustard was so watered down that it was a disgrace. It's pretty clear that they added water...I will never return to this Green Turtle, it was the worst ever. Whoever is managing this place needs to be hands on and do some retraining. The restroom was dirty and all the employees were behind the bar chilling.. The customer service was terrible. The guy did have a positive attitude, but everything else was a sh*t show. Never again. It's too many restaurants up and down this street to deal with the food and service I received here. DO BETTER!!!!!!

4.5 stars. I cannot…read moreoverstate how friendly the staff here is. Very welcoming, very patient, very kind. Set a really great tone for my visit. There are surprising number of chicken options here for a place called, "This Is Seafood", but not quite as many seafood options as I hoped. I was really looking forward to getting an order of fried scallops for lunch and I was a little disappointed they didn't have them on the menu. I decided to get the Combo #4: 3 whole wings, 6 fried shrimp, and my choice of 1 piece of fish and side dish. For my fish, I chose fried catfish and for my side I chose hush puppies. The combo also came with a fountain drink. I decided to mix their house-made lemonade and house-made iced tea and it made the perfect half-and-half. The wait wasn't too bad, as the food was being freshly made. It was piping hot and crispy when I received it. Those shrimp were huge! Some of the biggest fried shrimp I've ever had...And not those butterfly shrimp either. Whole shrimp, and the tail was removed so I didn't have to worry about accidentally crunching on one of the shells. The catfish was delectable! Perfectly seasoned, delightfully crispy, and absolutely melted in my mouth. So good. I'm coming back for the catfish if nothing else. The wings were perfectly fried, nice and crispy, but they were a bit too light on the seasoning for my taste. And the mumbo sauce tasted too similar to barbecue sauce. I did not like that, so I ended up saving the rest of the wings until I got home to put my own mumbo sauce on them. The hush puppies were also really good. I like that they were fried perfectly and weren't greasy... Even after reheating them. Overall, my lunch cost me about $25 and it was enough food for at least two meals. Can't beat that. I'll be back for that catfish.

This is one of those hole-in-the-wall spots that I was trying to decide whether or not I wanted to…read moretell y'all about because I don't want to come back and all of a sudden it's crowded. But I love y'all, so I'm going to put y'all on game. Admittedly, this spot does not look like much from the outside...but you know what they say about judging a book by its cover. It's definitely giving cabaret venue vibes (IYKYK), so I really wasn't sure what to expect. But this whole experience was a delightfully pleasant surprise. Our server Kamaria was absolutely wonderful. She has such amazing energy and we felt so welcomed. She recommended some of her favorite items from the a la carte menu, then invited us to proceed to the buffet. We decided to get an order each of the honey butter biscuits a la carte and now I got questions. I just want to know whose grandmother they have back there in that kitchen making them biscuits like that. Because those were some of THE best damn biscuits I've ever had. Easily the best biscuits I've had in the DMV. They were huge! Fluffy and chewy with a generous glazing of that absolutely divine honey butter. If you get nothing else from here, you NEED those biscuits. The buffet didn't look like it had much going on but again, looks are deceiving in this place. There were so many delicious options to choose from. Scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, bacon (both pork and turkey), shrimp and grits, chicken alfredo, jerk chicken wings, fried chicken wings, peach cobbler, sweet potatoes and a few other things I can't remember. If you didn't find anything you liked on this buffet, you were either vegan or just not hungry forreal. Every single thing that we ate was delicious. The jerk wings were perfectly cooked and had a nice kick to em. The fried wings were fried perfectly: crispy but not too hard, and seasoned just right. The chicken alfredo was probably my favorite. I don't think this place did anything particularly innovative or special with it, it was just delicious and well made. The sweet potatoes and peach cobbler were good but both could have used just a little bit more sweetening. I absolutely loved the shrimp and grits! Those grits were thick and creamy and the shrimp and sauce had a nice Cajun flare: a little kick and a whole lot of flavor. I'm not a pork eater so I was delighted at the turkey bacon. It was the thick cut bacon too! None of them skinny, scrawny strips. Oh, and of course there were bottomless mimosas. Kamaria made sure that our glasses stayed full. This spot offers three different kinds of juice for the mimosa: orange, pineapple, and I think the last one is cranberry. We both got the pineapple and we were not disappointed. There's also a DJ at brunch. He definitely helped set a vibe but what I really appreciate it is that the music wasn't too loud so we could enjoy it but still enjoy our conversation as well. This is easily my new favorite brunch spot. Good vibes, great food, bottomless drinks, no reservations... And no driving around the block dozens of times looking for a parking space. What more could a girl ask for?

Always a good time here. The music is always on point and so is the crowd. They have a live Dj and they also are live on the radio most of the time. Finding parking is t too difficult, which can be a deal breaker for me. I love this place and I love that it has a mixed crowd and isn't filled with only young people. It was all good vibes on my last visit.
