Serious props to Crystal in the Bedding and furniture department! I hate retail shopping but my sister insisted we go look at mattresses at Macy's due to some orthopedic challenges I have. She had me try out about six different levels and styles and asked fantastic questions. The selection at this Macy's is good but not great. Not sure if the quality of their clothes are going down all across the country due to "fast fashion" online which is ruining good quality clothes. The staff customer service is a hit or miss here. But I had an awesome experience with Shareeda (spelling?) at the M.A.C. counter! Not only did she help me find the specific products I was shopping for, she helped me with beautiful eye makeup for my business headshot at work that day. The costumer service was horrible. specificaly the lady in the white and black polka dot dress. she was rude,disrespectful and annoying I have never met such a rude lady in my life. i was looking to buy a nice couch for my living room, so I was testing them and she yelled at me and my 13 year old kids! saying this isn't a hangout place and kicked us out. I had a wonderful experience with Jamet in fragrances and will be back to see her. My partner and I came to the store on 8/20/2024 around 2 pm to get him his favorite cologne. After speaking with Jamet I loved her personality and didn't feel pressured so I let her show me a few scents. I had one in particular that I liked and so she gave me a small farewell spray on my wrist as I was leaving. The next morning I woke up and I smelled it still on my wrist and it was still so delightful! I came immediately right back to see Jamet to purchase my first bottle of high-end perfume. their service has gone in the toilet. They are off showing everything to India and the Philippines even the American rep that I got was clueless. I basically placed an order and they had the wrong billing address on the account even though the shipping address was correct and for some reason that was allowed to go through which I know shouldn't be allowed because my credit card would say that's the invalid billing and that's to protect you from fraud so when I tried to call to explain to them that somehow other system let the transaction go through. I was concerned about their system, not detecting. This is a potential fraud and instead of getting support and help I got transferred to seven different wraps and was on hold for over an hour and 40 minutes, during which time of course I passed the 30 minute window to cancel the order cause I didn't wanna do any business with this stupid company so now I called executive office and left a message that I want to return the item at no cost to me and I don't wish to do business with the company that offshore it's business to incompetent people. I really like this Macy's! It's in the Short Pump Town Center, which translates to: It's always busy, but I feel like their selection is strong and they always seem to have deals going on. I've had great luck finding work outfits, cute tops, and jackets here. I snagged a really nice winter jacket on at a steep discount a couple months ago and recently loaded up on fresh spring clothes. I'd dare say I like this location better than the Loft or New York & Co., which is crazy because those two shops are typically my favorites. read more

There's a little bit of everything here from clothing to appliances to jewelry to luggage. You name it and it's probably here. There doesn't seem to be a bug selection of clothing as the Macy's in New York and New Jersey. This Macy's also has a Finishline at Macy's within the shoe department. Compared to a standalone Finishline, it's awful. There's none of the most recent style shoes or clothing here. When I say the selection is limited, that's just saying it politely. I'd recommend just going to a standalone Finishline for the latest in athletic gear and shoes. There's daily coupons sent via email with various discount coupons or sales. read more

One thing's for sure-- you can always find something at Macy's. It's like Target. You go in for one thing and walk out with 5. The sales are always really good and you can find great quality items. Lately, Macy's has started carrying some of my favorite products and brands like UGG, NARS, Urban Decay, Benefit, and so much more! One gripe that I do have is that they need more employees. I always have to walk around far more than I should to find someone to ring me up. How annoying when you have an arm full of stuff. It makes you really contemplate whether or not it's worth it to stand in line for those items. 9 times out of 10, I end up putting something or all of it back because of this. I like going into Macy's and I used to like going to their Starbucks. However, the barista today was very rude to my boyfriend and I. We were nice to her but she had the worst attitude. It was like she hated her job and the customers. It was terrible customer service. Additionally the guy that was working with her sprayed juice on my boyfriend and I. We did not say anything because we are civilized people. Also he did apologize, which was appreciated. However as we were walking away the lady with the attitude said give him some space and maybe you wouldn't get juice sprayed on you. So she is the reason this review is being made. I never shop here for myself but I decided to give the store a try. They have a large selection of nice, quality items. I like that the employees have a fashionable and professional appearance that makes you really feel like it is a nice place. The section with the home products looks very cluttered and was hard to maneuver through with a lot of people in the store. If I ever shop here again, I would only shop for people who ask for something specifically from the store. My experience at this store changed once I started getting followed around by an employee. I was there with my girlfriend and I really felt offended after this incident. I was planning to buy a few nice dress shirts but changed my mind because I passed by 8 employees just standing there and nobody asked if I needed help or even greeted me. Then one of them decided to follow me throughout the store. My girlfriend has anxiety and started to freak out once she saw an employee sprinting around the store just to follow us. There was only one employee that greeted me and he did so in a kind and sincere manner. For these reasons I will continue to do my shopping elsewhere. read more

So today i decide to go in Macy's to pick up a gift for someone . I find out what level i need to go too and as i go up there an associate is in my face while talking about me to another associate. I look past that . As i stand in line to be assisted this women and her daughter walks up to get helped and the representative I'm waiting for immediately skips over me and starts helping them . ( it was a clear line ) . I then proceeded to say excuse me to the rep AFTER she helps the women and her child to get assistance and she looks me up and down ( i have on a work uniform by the way ) . This is my favorite Macy's in Richmond! This is the biggest one in the area, with two floors filled with amazing clothing, shoes, appliances, cosmetics, etc. I always feel that it's easy to find what I want at this location. It's really well lit here. There's no dark area in any part of the store. There's plenty of space to walk here too, even when it's crowded, like it was during Black Friday weekend. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Their parking lot is very big, so there's no problem trying to find a spot. If I ever need to shop at Macy's, this is my #1 spot. read more

I attempted to purchase a pair of shoes but managed to only leave the store with one shoe. I didn't find this out until we got home which is 3 hours from the store. In order to get the mate we went back to the same store, but it had been more tan 30 days(which the representative on the phone never mentioned discussed with me) The initial customer service lady was very nice and tried to get me the help that I needed. The woman she took me over to however, was not nearly as accommodating. I explained to her that the customer service representative I spoke with a few days ago told me to come back to the store with my purchase to get the match or a refund. She explains that the purchase as been over 30 days so there's nothing they can do. My husband says wait a minute, you sent us home with one shoe and you can't even look for the match or give us a refund? She responds with "there are 4 tubs and I don't have time to find it I will ask someone to look for it but I don't think it will be found". Seriously?? So there are no other options?? After some back and forth between the sales woman and my husband she finally says she'll ask for the manager to come speak with me. She was a very nice woman who quickly remedied the problem. Customer service is not a line of work for everyone, I should know, I do it every day and I couldn't imagine treating one of my clients that way. It was a real let down. read more

Im not big on shopping but i made a stop in here hoping to find a bargain.. And stumbled upon a great pair of jeans.. Fit great.. Looked great.. Felt great... I paid more than I normally would but the perfect fit made it impossible to walk away... There was one unfortunate thing happening at the register.. The cashier evidently didn't know that in this country we use deodorant DAILY... My eye lashes were burning standing there, and I was secretly praying she would hurry up and ring my jeans up.. Can you say deals??? Macy's is always my go to store. Since sometimes they are a little expensive I try to go to other stores, but they never compare to Macy's. Today I'm going to see Chris Tucker in Hampton and of course I was doing last minute shopping. I procrastinate in every way possible. So I went to Forever 21 and they had nothing I wanted to wear or that fit me! Since I was running out of time I ran to this Macy's to pick up something. Of course as soon as I walked in I see the same pair of pants I wanted in Forever 21, but they were $5 cheaper so of course I got those. I wondered into the shoe department (shoe addict here) and find some really cute Steve Madden flats for 30% off so of course I got those too. The store was very busy and since they always have an abundance of staff on hand my experience lasted only 20 minutes!!!! I was surprised how clean the store remained with all of those people in there. I will definitely be returning to this location as always. read more

The clothing section is huge and usually fully stocked. There's plenty of registers throughout the store for customers. The store is clean. The staff is helpful. Jamet Jackson, the Short Pump personal shopper, helped my mother sensitively and graciously and with great expertise when I brought her in for some wardrobe needs the weekend of my father's funeral in May. Can't say enough about how efficient and knowledgeable and lovely Jamet was. Highly recommend her. I use a personal shopper at Nordstrom in NJ and Jamet provided the same level of attention and care. Variety Of merchandise is excellent especially in shoes and handbags. BUT THERE ARE PROBLEMS...Calling the store or having to take a return to them-IMPOSSIBLE! Not even "executive offices" line is answered. Their phone line has menu options that go NOWHERE. Lower Level Returns Desk staffs one person to handle the long lines with no apologies-EVEN on Saturdays when they can expect more traffic. Race down to Dillards at the opposite end of the Short Pump Mall if you want an enjoyable shopping experience or call them anytime to speak to a real person onsite! read more

We had an appointment to meet with a personal stylist but apparently it was her day off. I guess nobody checks this or they simply don't care. We were then paraded to a specific department and given a store clerk who splits time with handling the register to help, something we could have done anytime without an appointment. Debra was great in her attempt to help but the "My Stylist" program should definitely be forgotten about, at least that's what Macy's apparently decided for today. read more

This store should be closed down. I left a review and I received a response from the store manager who told me she has been working on getting this store cleaned for the past year. The reviews on this filth go way back to 2013, same complaints. You will be bit by carpet mites in the dressing rooms for sure. If you leave the store itching you better go to the dermatologist fast! The carpets have not been changed in years and are always filthy, no staff available that cares about service, and the buyer needs to go! If you see something advertised, do not bet it will be in the store. I guess they feel the population in the surrounding area do not deserve something better than a pig pen. read more

I don't think I've ever had such a bad experience before where I felt compelled to right a review. I went into Macy's to purchase simply just a pair of pants. The first line I went to they decided to answer someone else's question first who mind you came up to the register after I was in line and I was told to go to another register unless I felt like waiting for him to get back but it could be a while. So I walked over to another register where the lady thus decided it was backwards day and she would take the person behind me first. When she finally got to me and rang the item in the price was incorrect. I corrected her and she said oh you're in the wrong department I can't see other prices here. Umm okay really? So I walk yet again to another register where he clearly sees I'm upset so he walks me to another register where yet again it does not ring up properly so she has to go look for the price (this is her department) and decides along her way now is the time to look for clothes out of place. I was with a friend and looking around the beauty section just sampling different things and one employee came up to me several times to tell me that she could help me check out whenever i was ready. i then went to the mario badescu section to find a certain product i was looking for, the drying lotion. it's meant to dry pimples. when i went to buy it, that same employee came up and took the product out of my hands and got all up in my face to tell me that i didn't have acne so i shouldn't buy this product, and while i don't have acne, it's not for acne, it's for blemishes, which i do get a lot. she insisted that i don't get the product and wouldn't let me buy it. then she had the nerve to encourage me to buy another product, but i told her i wasn't interested. my friend was going to buy the mario badescu rose water spray and the employee asked her if she had ever bought it before, and even after she said yes, the lady asked if she knew how to use it and before she could respond, told her that it's not a toner and if she wanted a toner she should buy a much more expensive product that they "had just gotten in stock!" my friend said no, she just used it as a refreshing mist. the lady then tried to get her to buy the giant size of that product and she said no. after this, she took us to checkout and took 5 minutes looking for a sample for her. she then took the sample, rubbed it on our hands, and tried to get us to buy it. she finally got to buy her product and after spending 30 minutes with that woman, i went into urban outfitters to buy the drying lotion and was in and out in 3 minutes without any questioning from their employees. read more

As others have mentioned, the Short Pump Macy's has a great selection of merchandise. I hate trying on clothes, so only visit the store every two or three years and buy several of everything I need. Each time I have gone, the latest visit being October 14th, I have found the associates to be super-friendly and helpful, without being pushy. Always find what I need. read more

Great demonstration tonight of why Macy's is going out of business. Trying to buy a complete set of clothing--shirt, tie, pants, shoes, socks--for my son tonight. No one available to help. No one around to ask questions. No manager claiming to be there tonight; if they are there, they are all in hiding. No wonder Macy's closed 100 stores nationally last month and that the chain is now looking for a buyer. Sadly, Short Pump Macy's will likely be the next closure. What a shame. read more

This is a review of their phone system, which I have just spent 10 frustrating minutes trying to use to ask a simple question of one department. It is almost impossible to get to speak to a human operator, and in trying several departments, no one answered. Obviously they (maybe all Macy's) are trying to reduce costs by having total automation, but terrible customer service. read more

I had an overall awful experience at this certain Macy located in the short pump mall. A friend and I where walking around Macy's searching for some skin care products. On the way we we would swatch and look at some of the other brands makeup and skin care. While walking around the beauty section a certain employee was following us and bothering my friend and I. She asked us multiple time that once we found what we needed she would help us check out. My friend and I already had mixed feeling about the employee but we just saw it as funny. When we walked over to the Mario Badescu counter I picked out a rose mist and my friend picked out a blemish drying ointment. The employee again came over to us but this time she was very obnoxious and treated us like children by telling us what we wanted and not letting us speak. When my friend asked to have the blemish drying ointment the employee refused to get the real ointment for her because she believed my friend didn't have acne. My friend persistently told the employee that she had just cleared up her skin but she got pimples and blemishes. The employee then accused my friend of messing up the product on display even though my friend had not. After all this my friend could not purchase the item because the woman refused to let her buy it. That is not all. When I asked the employee to ring my rose mist up she asked me if it was my first time buying it. When I responded no she didn't believe and questioned me on the use of the product. I told her the correct use and that I would like to buy the product. After that the employee tried to take the mist away but I told her this is what I wanted to purchase. She told me it was not what I wanted but I should want the more expensive toner even though that's not what I asked for. And how does she know what I want. Once I finally got her to let me buy the product the employee then took another 10 minutes to try and find a certain sample. Then the employee tried to get us to purchase another item after I had already checked out. She pulled an awful product and before even asking she put on my hands. This may not sound too bad to most people but I have a many allergies to things that are usually found in beauty products. Lucky the product didn't contain any of the substances I'm allergic to but I still found it unacceptable. All in all I will not be returning to this Macy's due to the awful service caused by this certain employee. I hope that this employee can learn to be more respectful to us consumers. read more

As a former employee I can personally say that the prices are outrageous. Everything is cheaply made and over priced. None of the sales are that great and when there are sales almost everything is excluded. Do not waste your time here. Employees frequently talk about customers and management is a joke. The store it's self is filthy. When I worked here we hardly ever had BAGS behind the register. Employees are only trained to push credit cards on people and work a register.
