Since moving from Woodstock I've been without a recliner in my Richmond man cave. Recently I started shopping for a new recliner that was affordable, fashionable, powered (both recliner and headrest) plus USB-A and USB-C Ports. While shopping at Costco today Carol and I came across the beautiful Shayne Leather Power Recliner. It was love the instant I sat my butt down, lol!! Costco will deliver it Tuesday!! My new recliner arrived today and I'm so glad we had it delivered. It took two delivery guys to manhandle it out of the truck, up the freight elevator and into our condo. The instructions were pretty straightforward and shortly after unboxing the two halves I scooted the main base and back rest into the man cave and assembled them. I made an appointment to have my tires balanced and rotated and was told it would take roughly an hour. I was asked to check back in an hour or wait to be contacted when it was completed. I actually showed up 15 minutes prior to the appointment time and checked in. About 70 minutes later, I received a call, thinking my vehicle was ready for pickup, but instead they were asking if the wheel lock was with the car. The service advisor didn't seem apologetic and spoke in a manner that came across as, "Yeah, we're behind, and you're going to have to wait." I had another appointment after the rotation, which cut into my travel time. My vehicle wasn't even pulled in until about 80 minutes after my original arrival, and then it took another 40 minutes or so to complete the service. No one in the shop seemed to care much, other than telling customers, "Yeah, we're about 45 minutes behind," with a dismissive attitude. I don't know if the Costco Tire Center understands the purpose of making an appointment, but it felt like their definition of an appointment is that they'll service you sometime within the day--not at the scheduled time. read more

I will never understand the Costco obsession. After seeing so many customers rave about Costco or other such stores, we decided to check it out. What's the allure of buying things in bulk? You don't save any money. I find the same things at my local grocery store for the same price. I'm also not tempted to buy things because of a perceived savings. I imagine that people spend more money at Costco than they would at a grocery store because they think they're saving money. Also, when a store tries to be all things at once? They wind up being nothing at all. While having all these options, the actual selection is very limited. I suppose if you have very basic shopping needs and love buying 8 bottles of generic ketchup at a time? Then I can see the draw. For the average shopper? I don't get it. read more

Store was clean and the employees were friendly and helpful during the busy holiday season. However, this location does not have a liquor section. The Costco's I used to go to back home in CA have a liquor section - this one does not apparently - however they do have a great wine and beer selection. Bathrooms needed a pick me up but other than that, clean and friendly store. What went well was I Ordered a pizza as well and it was made fresh to order. Great price for a delicious pizza. read more

This Costco location is great, but that is not a surprise for Costco. It is always clean, pretty much always stocked, the people are so friendly and willing to help. They generally have a good selection of stuff you need, and plenty of stuff you don't, and although they - like all Costco's - are subject to what the warehouse could obtain, they generally have a good substitute if you couldn't find the item you were looking for. A lot of the items they have are a great price, but some of them are worse than regular stores with sales, so I do usually keep the app for my regular store open so I can build an grocery pickup for the items that aren't as good of a deal (ahem, Nutella...) I do wish their app was better, more like a certain Blue club warehouse, but that is obviously not this locations doing but "Big Costco". It definitely would be nice if it accurately listed items instead of just sort of blanket claiming that there is no such thing as yogurt when I know that they carry lots of different types of yogurt. But again, that isn't because of this location and no stars were deducted because half of the fun is going in and spending three times the amount you planned to when you discover cool new items. I do try to avoid it on the weekends though since it can be pretty packed, though they are pretty good about opening more lanes when they need it. read more

We love Costco but today the line at 3:45 for gas was terribly long and they were out of Bananas. They also do not sell Potassium per the pharmacist. The line for gas was much better when we left at 5pm. read more

I finally caved and got a Costco membership, best decision I've made in a long time. They have a huge selection to choose from and they have the best prices for pull-ups and diapers. I will probably be visiting this location once a week going forward. The checkout process is very quick and easy as well. read more

I got a Costco membership in September 2024 and have been cussed out by Kelvin in the cafeteria by November 2024. I am appalled and disgusted. My partner and I ordered 2 fruit smoothies on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 around 12:25 pm. We waited in front of the pickup line the entire time, and our order number was 226. After waiting for over 10 minutes and hearing numbers as high as 241 be called, we checked in to see if our order was ready. When my partner asked Kelvin if the order was ready, he said "yeah I called that ages ago and you didn't get it". My partner told him he did not call the number since we've been waiting and watching the whole time, and Kelvin said "yeah I did bruh. But I'll make another one". My partner told Kelvin he didn't appreciate the attitude and Kelvin said "I don't got an attitude" and proceeded to bring us one smoothie even though we ordered 2. He then asked for our receipt and made the second smoothie. I asked for his manager's name and he said "that dude in the blue shirt right there". I asked him to be more specific and he said "that dude in the blue shirt and glasses, can you not see?!" And then proceeded to say "I don't give a fuck anyway. Tell him. I don't care - I'm not the fucking one" and then we spoke with his manager, Michael, who tried to deescalate the situation. After my partner found out Kelvin cussed at me, he walked over and asked him not to do that, to which Kelvin said "what's good then? What's good, fuck nigga?" And Michael said he would take him to the back and speak with him about it. This behavior is abhorrent and unacceptable at any store, let alone at a store I pay a membership to attend. I would love to hear back from someone higher up in management to discuss further. This Costco is easier to traverse, manages both gas lines and checkout lines better than West Broad. Although I find employees to be friendlier overall at the West Broad location. However, Hunter did do a great job at customer service and was very helpful at resolving our inquiries. The two local locations do carry different things so be mindful of what you look for and be aware that just because one location has it doesn't mean the other will. read more

Very large store that also has auto maintenance. Very clean with friendly personnel, but there aren't many in the store if you any questions. Really wish they had an app or computer terminal to locate products. I wandered a number of aisles before finding coffee. Ample parking & handicap friendly. I can't believe I haven't reviewed Costco! I am a newfound Costco fan girl. I am even in a Costco group on Facebook. Yep, this is 30. So, now that I am indoctrinated into the Costco groups, I have discovered so many gems. Literally, a membership is only $60 a year and it is SO worth it. I have changed my eating habits recently and let me tell you, Costco has some great options for folks who are gluten free or low carb. So many amazing meats, high quality brands, toiletries, medicines, clothing items, toys, oven ready meals, etc. This is one of the places where I know that I can trust the brands that they sell because everything is high quality. The gas is also a power buy. That's why there's always a line! All of the employees are so nice and very helpful. I've heard that Costco treats their employees well and you can tell by interactions with them. The best part is that Costco is on Instacart. Whenever I need something and am too busy to leave the house, I can still have my costco goodies delivered to me at the push of a button. Love that for me. Our local CostCo on Mall Dr is the best around. Large store with ample parking. Associates are friendly and helpful. Cashiers are quick and I very often see the various employees working together to help each other or to help the customers. The warehouse/store is always clean as is the parking lot. I've shopped here for years and have never had a bad experience or left with anything unsatisfactory from my visit. The gas station is also bright and clean (and everything always works!). I've had to call on the attendant on a few occasions for help and found then super nice and ready to help. Zero complaints for the Chesterfield CostCo. read more

My toddler was playing with a ring carry around my neck and dropped it in the vast deeps of the Costco floor and i asked a young lady to keep her eye out for it and she found it for me! This is about the tire center. This is where I have been going for a few years now. Great service, and they are always helpful. They are open during his pandemic and hat is so important. You can park near their bay doors and enter through their service door instead of the main Costco door where you have to wait in line. No waiting in line with the side door! I took my 2014 Mustang into Costco to get new tires put on. I chose Costco because I believed they had a good reputation and would take care of my baby. However, after 3 hours of waiting and watching, I was informed by the supervisor, Stephen, that they could only get 3 out of the 4 new tires put on my car, and that they had put an old one back on. He recommended that I take it to a different shop and have them put the fourth tire on. Little did I know, this would be the smallest issue I would encounter. Like I said, this was only a minor annoyance/inconvenience. I had stood in the tire center the entire time they were working on my car and watched through the window. I had noticed that they had been acting pretty carelessly with my rims. I watched as they tried multiple ways to get the tires to bead to the rims with their tools being banged against and rubbed against all 4 of my rims. When they pulled my car out and told me it was done, I looked at the rims for scratches before moving the vehicle so that they could not claim that I had scratched them after it left the garage. This was very upsetting to me as I take very meticulous care of this car and before entering the Costco tire center, my rims looked as new as they did the day they rolled off of the Ford assembly line. I brought this to Stephen's attention, and even he himself admitted that they were bad and the scratches were new. An incident report was filled out and the car was brought back the next day so that the tire center manager, Jeff, could take a look. When he looked at them he stated "Oh, they are not that bad." It was then pointed out to Jeff that that was not the point. The point was that the car had entered the Costco tire center the day before without scratched rims, and now there were scratches on all four of them. The claim then went through the Costco corporate offices and they had decided that they were not at fault and that they were going to do nothing to fix them or to rectify the situation. This was even after the tire supervisor on duty at the time had admitted that the rims were bad. I am absolutely ASTONISHED at Costco's lack of care to rectify the situation and uphold their reputation. They are denying to accept responsibility and now I am looking at a $900 bill to get my rims re-finished. If you have a car that you care about, I HIGHLY discourage you from taking it to the Costco tire center. I know you might think that they would take care of your car like it was their own, but unfortunately, you would be wrong to think so. read more

Overall every Costco has been great but in particular I need to single out the hearing department at this Costco especially the hearing tech James - outstanding service - knowledgeable- patient ! We left there with great working hearing aides and fully understood how they worked. Don't go anywhere else for hearing aides. We've been going to Costcos for 8 or so years. The location on Hull was closer, but the new location is larger and has added gas. We like the selection and in many instances the savings that can be found here. The staples of most visits here are the steaks, which are typically 2 or so dollars less per pound, chicken, water, yogurt and frozen fruits mixes and for my son, goldfish, organic chocolate milk, and cereal. We do frequently purchase salad material here, but you need to watch the dates, as they generally have a mix of expiration dates.The same can be said of the fresh fruit mixes, which often expire in less than a week. Depending upon what is happening in the market, gas can be from 5 to more than 10 cents less a gallon than is found elsewhere. Having visited the other competitors periodically, we are always content with our decision to continue on with Costco for quality and selection. read more

There's only a few things at Costco for which I will fight the masses. I just don't need too much "BIG". I buy my gas here. Cheapest in the area. I buy blueberries here. Frozen or Fresh. I eat a lot of blueberries and they have the best price. I buy Chocolate Protein Shakes here. Yum and healthy, low carb. I buy laundry detergent here. The Costco brand. Can't beat the price anywhere. I buy chicken breasts here. Big ol' whompty pack with perforated portions. Freezes well. We eat lots of chicken. I buy Calcium (for my aging bones) and Multi-Vitamins, Costco brand. Best bang for my buck. Sometimes I can get a full meal just walking around tasting samples. I find it to be a fun place to walk around, but I do need to be careful. Came to get 4 tires replaced. Sat outside smoking watching some guy Brian take a break every 5 minutes playing on his phone showing pictures to his coworkers who all would stop working with him and complaining about not moving up with 3 others. Resulting in me waiting nearly 2 hours vs 1 hour. Nobody keeping employees on track, just a bunch on 75% joking around and 25% actual working. Finally get call while in store that car was ready. Got to enjoy an additional 15 minute wait until they decided to bring in my car keys. Need better supervision to keep employees on track to reduce the enormous unnecessary wait time. read more

Verily, it is a Costco, and they are legion. Given that, I have a set of expectations they need to meet. I'm not saying this is the best grocery I've been in, or the best shop, but they are the best at what -they- do, that I have dealt with. Yes, there's a membership fee, yes, they only take one credit card [it will be Visa come nest year, fyi], no they don't have tiny quantities of anything, but that isn't the point. As giant buy-everything-in-bulk stores go, this one is clean, well-staffed, well-lit, well-organized, and while the lines at the checkouts often look daunting, they are usually pretty well-paced. There are certainly nights where I can go in and get fed a whole meal if i just walk past enough little sample tables. They have interesting and varied vendors that come in to do specials [I've bought jewelry, I am strongly considering a blender] and good produce, as well as a decent selection of most other things. There is, of course, the risk that you do as I have done and go in for a large quantity of tomatoes [I was making a lot of guacamole for a party] and come out with 200$ of clothes and beer. It's very easy to buy more of something than you want, or to buy things and then wonder what you were thinking. On the other hand, they take back Everything without question, if you panic and need a refund. Or if it didn't taste good. Or if you get the clothes home and decide you hate how the pants fit. Or the grapefruit are moldy. I also love their tire place. I'm not 100% certain it was THE BEST PRICE for tires that fit my car in town. However. They had tires in stock, they did a same-day replacement [which is good, cause there was an inch by three piece of shrapnel in one tire, which you can't just patch], I have an unbeatable warranty, and if I ever need a little bit of air [the first freeze every winter, for example, when my pressure light comes on] or a rotation, they do that. For free. They don't even ask for proof I'm a member for the air, I just drive by and they fill me up. read more

I love Costco. I usually try to get in and out under $100. But if you shop here that rarely happens. I really like there meat. I tend to freeze part of what I buy. Usually I don't buy too much produce because I don't eat that much bulk produce before it goes bad. But there pineapples are always big and they are a good price. I like the gas prices also. But if I get enough off at Kroger I usually get a better deal there. The best thing I have found is their wine. There prices are awesome. One of our favorite places to shop. I find parking to be easier at this location than the one other location in Richmond. It's truly a destination shopping experience with the many samples of foods you can try and the product demonstrations. The fresh shrimp cocktail is really good if you haven't had that and their meats and seafood are always good. They also have a great beer selection with local breweries represented along with the National brands. I was able to get some Hardywood gingerbread stout there at a better price than other retailers. Every time we see her she is complimenting someone or helping someone. On our most recent visit we noticed that Charity ran outside to help an older woman lift items into her truck. This is s review of COSTCO OPTICAL, which is not available to review. The staff at this location is so thorough, quick and knowledgeable. I have gone there for years to buy eyeglasses and contact lenses for myself, my husband and children. Their selection of eyeglasses is excellent, on trend and vast, plus the best value around. In addition, the staff goes above and beyond, such as adjusting my sunglasses and fixing the nose pads, putting new screws in my hinges, you name it. Highly recommend! read more

This is not my usual Costco, I typical visit the one on W.Broad street but I live closer to this one now so I find myself visiting this one more often. What I don't like about this one is the layout. Visually I feel lost in this place. It's not easy to navigate and it seems like every aisle faces in different directions it's hard to see where every everything is.
