FINISH LINE in Macy's- I purchased a pair of shoes from the Finish Line in Somerset location. Upon trying on the shoes one was off by 1.5 sizes. I took the shoes back to the finish line in Macy's for return or exchange. The manager was externally rude and unhelpful. He would not exchange the shoe for the correct size. He would also not accept the shoes for return and said I had to go back to Somerset mall which is over an hour away. Merchandise should be able to returned to any Finishline in Macy's location. The employee just did not want to deal with it. When asked to speak with the manager, he said he was the manager. I took the shoes to another associate in Macy's (not even at the finish line), and he was nice and processed my return. read more

Good news! Macy's now carries the Carol's Daughter brand or natural hair and body products. For any who are not familiar, Carol's Daughter makes fabulous hair creams and oils that will make anyone's hair healthy and shiny, with the addition of fresh clean or fruit scents. Guava, grapefruit, and passionfruit included in my fav product, Tui Hair Smoothie could not smell any better if you blended them up yourself. Men are not neglected either, the line includes men's facial cleansers and lotions... Love their stuff because they keep the emphasis on 'natural' products. read more

This is a pretty big Macy's, they have lot's of options and I typically receive good service when I come here. Their restrooms are very well maintained and clean. It took me a long time to discover their restaurant in the upper level. It's surprisingly good and perfect when you want a tasty meal. They are usually not busy since not many seems to know about this hidden jewel. read more

Did anyone else get screwed on the diamond earrings with purchase online? I was so pissed!!! I ordered several items just to get those earrings that were in my cart. But before my order was delivered, the earrings disappeared and not delivered. I ordered enough for three pairs. When I called Macy's I was told they ran out. The employees are very kind here. However, it's a shame their employee has NO air conditioning and no fans. It is 85 degrees outside today and it's cooler outside than inside of this Macys! The employees told me it's always this miserable hot in the store during the summer because they won't fix the air conditioning. We could barely stay in this store more than 30 mins without dripping sweat. read more

The employees are always nice, especially in the cosmetics area. The clothing area can be a bit messy at times especially in the clearance section, but if you are patient you can find a good deal so I don't mind a bit of mess. read more

This is an attitude till you drop store. I was new to the Detroit Metro area. I wanted a new watch and clothing for work. I walked in. I was prepared to buy a very expensive watch and update my wardrobe. I could not get any of the sales girls at the watch counter. At last someone took me seriously. I was actually going to look at wedding bands also. The lady told me she was the rep for the watch company and could not help me with the wedding bands. But happy to help with a watch. After a while she sold a fantastic watch. Sadly that store does not sell better watches. But this is a great watch I wear around. I thanked her. The employee's could have cared less. Thank you Citizens rep lady. The men's dept. Chaos! Total chaos. When I finally found help, I found it was difficult to size me. No help in finding my size. I needed a few suits, but wanted to see how helpful and good these jokers were. Sadly, no suits were sold. I got some shirts and a tie. Cut my losses and ran. The store was poorly kept and very sad in my opinion. Oakland Mall is the same. Latter I would start to shop Northland and Eastpoint locations. Excellent staff at each of those locations. Sadly Northland was killed. I was just at Eastpoint. Amazing service. Twelve Oaks, sad and typical. Like shopping at Target. read more

Finding help/ cashier almost Impossible. Then when you do find someone they act like you're bothering them or they don't have a clue about availability of items. For years I was fan of macys. It was the only store I would shop at... In 16 years I've watched the decline of this store. Sooo....what's the point in reviewing a big, corporate retailer like Macy's? I'm going to continue to shop there because of specific brands they care and good sales. However, I spent a lot of time in this particular store yesterday, and maybe this review is for my own benefit to complain & put it out there. It's common that customer service is fairly lacking in retail most of the time, even though it's what they get paid to do & it's not rocket science. I was carrying around a lot of clothes to try on. One saleswoman, Reena, offered to help me get a fitting room. She stood with me for about a minute until one was open, while holding some of the clothes I had to take of the load. That was nice, I suppose. She gave me her name and told me to let her know if I needed anything. The problem with that is I was in a fitting room that was not visible from her department. It didn't really matter because she never came back, which I knew would happen. I definitely wasn't going to search or call for her when I needed different sizes. It was painfully obvious that she wasn't really interested in helping me, but getting credit for my sale. Again, nothing new in retail, but it's still annoying. I'm an easy customer to work with, and I spotted her a few more times while I continued to walk around. She wasn't busy helping others. During my time in Macy's, I had to use the ladies' restroom. This is what bothered me the most about my experience. I have seen cleaner restrooms in strip clubs and dive bars. It was horrible. Out of 7 stalls, only one was usable. The handicapped restroom was the worst of the bunch, so if you're in a wheelchair, you're screwed. No paper towel in the 3 dispensers either. I notified the salesperson, but who knows if they took care of it. Finally, I make it to a register. Guess what? The system is down for accepting credit cards, specifically Macy's cards. It was implied that it might have something to do with Macy's switching over to American Express for their store credit cards. Way to go on a big sale weekend. Instead of standing around for an unknown amount of time, I left my purchase to come back later in hopes that it will be working properly. An hour later, it was working. Hopefully when we move to Royal Oak, I'll have a better experience at the Macy's at Somerset Collection. Do I feel better now that I've written this review....maybe a little. read more

I went to the jewelry dept. Worst customer service ever. There was an elderly lady being extremely rude and obstinate. This was from an encounter in April of 2015. It brought back memories of an encounter I had with an older Jewish lady in the jewelry dept. in March of 2002. I believe this store had just become Marshall Fields. They changed their name from Hudson. This elderly lady in 2002 said horrible things to me. She was dressed very cheaply. She was extremely prejudiced in her comments. This beggar looking women boasted about her husband being a physician. She talked in a very condescending manner. The rest of the departments I would give a three or four star rating to. Most of the employees are polite and helpful. Especially in the men's department. These two individuals in the jewelry department have really stopped me from going shopping for jewelry at this location. read more

I hate having to give 2 stars, but this location frustrates me. The fitting rooms are always messy with clothing. They always have half the fitting rooms blocked off as closed . Also, once you do decide to purchase something it is impossible to find someone to ring you up. On the corporate side, the coupons they send have too many exclusions. read more

Even for a department store this macys is bad. Their clothing in the mens section is almost never organized well. On many trips there the staff are not around and tmfinding a register that is open for checkout is impossible. I love the clothing that is sold but standing in line to checkout for a while makes shopping here almost unbearable. read more

I have an account for this store and get several coupons.. I like going here because it's a hop skip and a jump from my work.. It seems like every time I go here the store is a mess...items are all over the floor, clothes are hanging loose from the hangers, etc.. The service is really very poor for the most part.. The last two visits I've browsed in the shoe department and have been outright ignored. Two employees couldn't break away from their personal conversation and another one was texting..Perhaps if I had dressed up as a cell phone I would have gotten some attention.. It's really sad because I really was interested in shoes! But after being ignored, I'd rather spend my $$ elsewhere.. I have received great service in the fragrance department.. This store is always a mess. What happened to the quality brands they once had? Most grown women don't want to wear brands like 'material girl' or 'american rag.' They have an extensive shoe department, but they rarely have my size which is a basic eight and a half. A huge corporate department store should always have the sizes you need. The people who work the Mac counter seem more interested in gossiping than giving me the color of lip gloss I asked for so now I have to go back into this hot mess of a store. Recently was shopping for a pair of tights at Twelve Oaks. My salesperson Magda was so pleasant ringing my purchase as I was admiring a couple backpacks another customer was purchasing. Magda led me to the handbag area and pointed out the backpacks on a terrific sale and informed me there was an additional sale discount! Taking this time and then genuinely pleased I found one made my shopping day! I've always heard of the outstanding service the old JLHudsons downtown had. This review is specifically for the intimate apparel section. I went to exchange some items but they didn't have my size so I decided to return the items. When the cashier got to me, I explained that I wanted to return my items and I had to retrieve the receipt from my email. She proceeds to tell me that if I didn't have the receipt I couldn't return anything (not true - I've done it before in the past). She was able to look up my items, and provided me with a credit. However, the whole time she was rude and treated me like I was trying to scam Macy's. I will shop at this Macy's but never again in that department. read more

I tried to return a dress that I purchased online that had never been worn and the Assistiant manager was so rude and refused to accept the return. She gave me every excuse she could and kept telling me that the register woudn't allow her to process the return? I came home and requested a return online and without any problems got a credit back on my card within a week. The Macy's in Novi is very nice! I had no problem finding what i needed and if i did need help there was always a sales associate available to answer any questions i had. Very organized! In October, 2018 I went to the lingerie Dept. of Macy's 12 Oaks Mall Novi, Michigan. I purchased a bra at a great deal so I thought. Upon packing my suitcase for a trip discovered the security device on my bra. I live 28 miles from Macy's so there goes my discount because I will have to spend gas to return. Made a complaint to macy's complaint dept per phone. I was left on hold for a total of a whopping 45 min. The representative put me hold for long periods of time to speak to his supervisor. His english was very poor so I had to spell out the name of the store several times, he said his english wasn't very good. He finally said mam return to the mall they will give you a gift card. I ask who he spoke to at Macy's could not give me a name. I ask am I supposed to go back explain what happen and say oh by the way he said I was you will give me a gift card. I had to pull teeth for him to give me his name he said it was Kieder. I ask for his employee ID# so I could say who I spoke to. I asked him who did he speak to, again hold on mam. I was on a wild goose chase to match a Navy sport coat with navy slacks in size tall and skinny when I walked into the men's suit department. I was able to find the perfect color match, but I was worried that the length of the slacks might be too short. That's when Mike came to my rescue. He suggested that we let out the hem a little, but he still wasn't sure I'd be happy. He took one look at the size on my husband's 42L sport coat and ran off. The next thing I know he has a perfect sized complete suit... and I could tell it was expensive. I explained that we couldn't afford a whole new suit like that and he said "trust me". We walked to the register and I saw the tag $600 Donald Trump suit. No way, I could afford that, but when he rang it up, it was $104. So I bought it! Mike saw my husband's size and remembered that he had a clearance Donald Trump suit in that size. Incredible. I give the man a 5. Bravo, sir, Bravo! read more

Fake jewelry! My mom bought "diamond" earrings at the jewelry counter at this location and they were appraised as cubic zirconia. She tried to return them and was refused the refund. Needless to say we will not be shopping for anything other than costume jewelry at Macy's. read more

I tried to use a Macy's 20% off my shopping day coupon for regular, sale & clearance items and was told on both items I purchased that it was a not sale price or a clearance price. I was told that the one item was a "special" not a sale and the other item was not "clearance" just permanently reduced! How outrages is that? Why send coupons that sould like you could use for almost anything and can't be used for nothing? The sign under the dress said "Special" then the word "Sale" so I would consider that a sale item! On the other dress it clearly had a yellow sticker that indicates clearance, but wasn't considered clearance! What bull! I'll shop at Carson's for now on. This is the second bad experience I have had with Macy's in 4 months. I won't be back to shop. Thanks for no thanks. read more

Horrible customer service, if you can in fact find someone to help you. The store is never organized, I feel like I'm shopping at TJ Maxx or some place-not a department store. I tried to get help in the men's department but was shown a computer screen of what was online and told I could look around to see what they had in store. I bought something for my husband, brought it back for an exchange and they couldn't/wouldn't help me find something similar. Frustrated I returned it as I had my toddler with me and ran another errand, came back and bought another shirt from the same salesperson. She refused to give me the same price for what I had just returned 10 mins before. Having managed multiple retail stores myself, I know that she could have given me the shirt for the same price. Worst return policy imaginable. The card we used for Christmas shopping was compromised and our bank had to cancel our card and issue another one. So same card slightly different numbers. Macys was the only retailer that would not refund our purchase only gave store credit. Express, Dsw, Petsmart, could refund the returned Christmas presents but not Macys. Beware if Macys can weasel out of giving you a refund, they will. read more

now that the northland mall is closed twelve oaks macy's is now the worst macy's ever. especially the womens shoe department. how does a store have a sale but only have two or three people on schedule to work. i waited for 15+ minutes for someone to even come to me to go get the shoes i wanted to try on. the workers there are so rude they will walk right by you and never ask if they could help you, you literally have to run after them for them to help you. i went into the store yesterday and at first a worker there named Angel was very nice when she was helping me. when it came time to make my purchase her whole attitude changed for the worse. she had a very "i dont want to be here attitude, she had a smart a** mouth. i informed her the boots i wanted were on line for a lower prices she said ok we can match it as long as its on macy web site. well Unfortunately my phone and tablet wouldnt connect to the internet inside the store so i asked if she could pull it up to verify the price i gave her she act as if she didnt want to do it, but she did. then i told her that i wanted to use the coupon for the veterans day sale but i didnt know the code by heart i only knew half of it. clearly she knew what i was talking about because she works there. assuming she was putting the information into the system she rung up my order w/out the coupon code and i asked can she apply it, very sarcastically she said "well your supposed to give us the code not us give you the code" i had to remember she was a child and i was the adult and i politely told her if i could have pulled it up on my phone i would have been more than happy to give you the code.
