My review is primarily for the shoe department, but I like this store a lot overall. I had an exchange for an item that is not sold in stores. I anticipated having to return the shoes and buy them again online, but the sales associate swiftly explained that she could do a full exchange and have the correct size sent to me without me having to lift a finger (or charge my card again! Yay) The whole process was done in 3 minutes, and the new shoes are already on their way. I wish the fragrance department carried more brands (le labo, Diptyque, more products from the nue co), but there's also lots to peruse in that section as it is. Going downhill fast! Very disappointing trip to Nordstrom yesterday. After purchasing a dress on clearance from the juniors department, I realized they had left the plastic piece on the dress that can only be removed by the store. The second floor had next to no one available anywhere. I went to the juniors department, where I had purchased the dress, and was met with an associate who was on a personal call, and then very curtly told me that she "could not help" because she was now clocking out after concluding her personal phone call on her cell phone. I had to wait for her to wrap up her personal call before she shared her message of not being able to help with me. She then sent me to the other side of the store and said they were plenty of registers open. Well, not exactly. I did come across a nice associate, who was apparently in training, but she, too could not help me. She left to try to find someone who could help me. Another employee in training explained to me that it was not the employee in training's fault that she couldn't help me. I explained that I understood that and was then met with yet another Nordstrom employee, who appeared confused about my request. He, too, was going to get someone, or he said I could go to Customer Service. I decided to go to Customer Service where I asked if they could remove the plastic piece, and if she could check if there was another size in the dress as the original was slightly too big. While she was explaining to me that it was sold out, she actually opened up a piece of candy in front of me and started eating it. At this point, I said, I just wanted to return the dress altogether. All of this hassle for a one item return. Add to that, the reason I even went back was because they had left the large plastic piece (theft deterrent) on the dress. it was such a lackluster and disappointing visit to the store. I actually prefer Macy's at this point as they have far more help on the floor and they have a better energy in their store. The energy inside of Nordstrom was flat, and no one seemed excited or happy to be performing their job. Very disappointing experience. Based on this experience, I have decided that I am no longer a Nordstrom shopper. read more

came in bc social media was saying that u can refill for a smaller charge for perfumes at Nordstrom. thought I would take in some Chanel perfumes that were empty over time of a couple years. three ladies who didn't wanna acknowledge me but instead just yap were very rude about me asking kept saying to buy new ones. MOTHER OF THE BRIDE DRESS! TERRIBLE customer service and alterations. Associate dragged my dress across the floor like a swifter. Alterations looked bad from the start but said it was normal. Hem came out before ceremony started so we had to take time from the celebration to buy hem tape. Nordstroms asked me to bring the dress in and only offered to hem again and reimburse alterations! If there was an option for negative stars, I would give -5 stars. I had dealt with Dwayne (SP?) in the Men's Clothing Department, Specifically, Dress Clothes and wound up purchasing three relatively expensive dress slacks. I had spent a few hours between sizing and getting the correct alterations pinned. -First sign of trouble: The Gentleman that I had during the measuring part for alterations should retire immediately. Extremely rude and condescending, now I had come prepared with my dress shoes and another pair of slacks that were the "Perfect Fit" in hopes to make this as painless as possible and to reference as I am not affluent with the terms and vocabulary used in his line of work. The slightest suggestion or explanation of what I had wanted done, his decorum suggested that I was an idiot and he was the Professional. How dare I. Like Billy Mayes said, " But wait, there's more!" -Enter Dwayne Upon checking out with the cost of the alterations and slacks I was told by Dwayne that I would have my pants by the 4th of April. I was all set and he would contact me if there were any issues. This was Saturday the 25th of March! Fast Forward. I did not receive any update and we are now past the 4th. We are now  Tuesday the 11th with no communication period. I had left messages with various employees to no avail. It takes my wife to drive to the mall to get an answer and only one pair of slacks was done. Now I had left the store with the words  of affirmation from Dwayne that I was "All Set". Not only was my order not completed, they had charged my wife more money to finish the alterations and were Instructed by a Female that this would be done "Next Day Express" and Overnighted to my home address... Never Happened. Zero Contact. Nothing was delivered..... Again. Billy Mayes. "But wait, There's more" I had called Dwayne. Again! Much to my chagrin, I was able to talk to him. His response to me was that this was the first he was hearing of this, so I gave him the benefit of doubt and mistakenly listened to his salesmanship that "He would get to the bottom of this"... THIS WAS ON APRIL 20TH. I DO NOT HAVE MY SLACKS. NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK, or any communication for that matter. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY PACKAGE TO MY HOME... I feel like I could have gone to Walmart and received more efficient customer service. I really hope someone from a higher level of Nordstrom reads this and actually gives a crap but at this point, I have more faith in the Ice cream machine at McDonalds actually working. It's like waking up Christmas morning every time I come to Nordstrom's. This past year was a great year for there men's clothing line and many of us guys are thankful for that. They ended the year and began the new year with the annual 50% off sale and it was a huge hit as usual. Many empty hangers and empty wallets as well. This Nordstrom's has a wonderful location, helpful sales and customer service, very clean, organized well stocked on all items from the top floor to bottom floor and plenty of parking. After years of being a big Nordstrom shopper and Nordy Club member- I am officially done. I recently purchased a pair of jeans from Nordstrom. My store didn't have my size, so I ordered them online and picked them up in the store at Twelve Oaks Mall. I made an alterations appointment for today at 11:00 am. I have purchased jeans from Nordstroms for years and had them hemmed in the store for free. I have also been a Nordy Club member for years. I arrived at 10:55 and checked in. The seamstress finally came and got me at 11:35. She asked me a bunch of questions about my purchase, such as of I bought them in the store or online, whether they were full price or on sale. Then she measured and marked the jeans. I went to the register and she printed out a receipt. She said it would be $40 to hem a pair of jeans purchased in your store! I went and look at the website and it says they are free or $22. I tried to speak to the employee at the register about it and she said "sorry" and shrugged. I then contacted customer service who said the same thing- basically sorry but we aren't going to do anything about this. They gave me the manager's email at the store. I have been a good customer and am not happy with the lack of response. Won't be back to any Nordstrom stores again! read more

While Nordstrom at 12 Oaks in Novi is a wonderful store and the appearance inside the store in very classy with upscale displays, the womens bathrooms are totally filthy. I told the store employees in the business office and they just looked at me like I was crazy. Green mold on the sinks, bathroom not kept clean?! Someone needs to notice asap in these days of sickness and spreading germs! I do hope someone in authority there sees this! read more

Hubs had good luck finding a pair of shoes for our upcoming wedding. He was hunting high and low but honestly the men's selection was tiny compared to the woman's section everywhere else. We were helped right away when we wandered into the show section by a friendly young man. He was dressed very well and I like that Nordstrom's allows employees to express themselves with fashion- yay for visible tattoos! He helped my SO find the righteous and fit in less than fifteen minutes! The shopping bag was even tied with a ribbon bow! read more

So much better than other area Nordstroms. Nice service, good selection and none of the snooty attitude you can get from mall haunts. This place will make you feel happy. I love shopping Nordstrom. The shoes, the clothes and even the makeup counters are well organized and feature actual helpful people to guide you through. Pricing is not as high as some places and they have really good quality items. If you are a sales/bargain hound this is probably not the place for you but if you are looking for a calm oasis with a great selection of goods then Nordstrom may be your kind of store. Hey all...Just wanted to write a little review about the Nordstrom "MAC" counter at 12 Oaks Mall! They've been so very helpful to me. They take the time to show me everything I want to see and colors, anything that seems interesting and they will take all the time needed to show me I got a MAC gift certificate for Christmas and didn't know that I couldn't use it at the "MAC" counter in the Mall stores. But I ended up spending some money at the Nordstrom "MAC" counter anyways because the "MAC" girls were so kind and helpful to me. There wasn't one person that wasn't kind and /or helpful. They were each one special in their own way! I could ask questions galore and they would help me and describe things to me and explore colors with me too! I just had to write up something giving the "MAC" counter employees at Nordstrom at the 12 Oaks Mall, some "Kudo's" for being so kind, taking time with me and being so helpful! I then got to go to the MAC online cosmetics and use my gift certificate also but because they did their job so well, I bought some extra lip gloss/lip stick etc that I wasn't going to originally buy, but they helped talk me into it! LOL....I will be going back to the "MAC" counter again! read more

What is wrong with everyone!?. Such rude associates.. Last Wednesday I ordered a mascara to be sent to me. I was told it is buy 2 get 1 free and that they would be shipped to me on October 24th. I received one today but not the other 2. I called the Chanel counter and asked for the associate that helped me. I was told she wasn't in. When I explained that I had only received 1 mascara and not the other 2 she said impossible! I told her I have the box in my hand and I am looking at it now. The sales associate gave me excuses on what might have happened. I didn't buy it. She was so rude.. Then she proceeded to tell me that the associate who helped me would call me tomorrow. Maybe those associate's should read the book " The Nordstrom Way". Dealing with customers can be challenging but there is no need to be rude and condenscending! So far the worst customer service I've ever experienced at a Nordstrom. If it was busy I'd understand, but staff just stood still and told me to go to different areas to find my shirt that I called for in the am; literally didn't budge a step. Brought it up to the customer service desk, lady in yellow shirt straight up ignored us as I was speaking to the junior associate, supposedly she was the manager. Won't return, definitely not the Nordstrom experience you'd expect. As a resident physician I don't get much time to shop but when I do and try to spoil myself I don't expect service subpar to Walmart as such a high end store. read more

I'm so disappointed in this store, back in November I bought few cosmetics the sales woman kept telling me that they were very slow and I was her first customer anyway she pushed and pushed for me to spend over a certain amount of money and kept telling me " you will get double points for your purchase and Nordstrom notes " , I called customer service to found out that it was all a lie , I never received the note and they said that the sales person was probably misinformed " in my opinion she just wanted to make a sale!!! I have always known Nordstrom to be the best. I have always received fantastic customer service here, until this past Saturday evening. I walked in to the store at the cosmetics entrance and was greeted by a Dior employee. She asked if I needed help, I told her I was looking for Mario Badescu. She informed me that they do not carry that brand. She then tried to sell me Dior products instead. After walking away from her what do I find around the corner? Mario Badescu. Great, now to find someone to help me. No luck. There aren't many employees around and the ones who are present are deep in conversation. I wait and wait. Finally I am approached. I tell her what I'm looking for and she sends me away quickly with samples. Back to that important conversation that I interrupted. I leave the store in amazement. I head to Ulta and buy my products. What a disappointment. Quality of Nordstrom staff is a far cry from what it once was. Sad. I will not be back. read more

I've been in Nordstrom many times before, but it was my experience with Iman on 6/05/16 that prompted this review. Iman is a sales associate in the shoe department. I have never received such stellar service anywhere else. My sister was looking for several pairs of shoes to take with her when she returns home to China. Then they are moving to Thailand a few weeks after their return to China. It's very difficult to find larger sized shoes in Asia so she does a lot of shopping when they are in the States. Iman went to the shoe storage area and returned no less than four times with several stacks of shoes. She waited patiently and offered her advice while my sister tried on each pair. We were in the shoe dept. an hour and a half. Seriously! Iman must have brought out every pair of shoes they had available in my sister's size. I have never met a friendlier or more helpful associate anywhere. Thank you again for such excellent service. read more

5 stars for Antwoin M. in the women's shoes dept. If you are like me, frustrated and tired of the subpar "customer service" at Nordstrom Somerset (esp the women's shoes dept), you definitely need to come here. After pretty much being made to feel as though I was a picky, hard-to-please customer (I promise, I'm not) at Somerset over a pair of FLIP FLOPS, I ended up at Twelve Oaks' women's shoes dept. Just as I had done at Somerset, I walked over to the Rainbow sandal display, tried to find my size, and asked for help. Antwoin was helpful, friendly, and didn't make me feel as though he was above helping me. He helped me find a pair that was not frayed at the edges (although it was relatively easy to do - the Rainbows at Twelve Oaks seem to be in much nicer condition than Somerset), helped me decide between two different colors, and rang me up. The entire process took no longer than 10 mins. I am so impressed and so grateful for Antwoin's customer service. I definitely plan to buy all my shoes at Twelve Oaks, and I sure hope Antwoin is there to assist me. read more

Displays are tastefully done, merchandise in organized as it should be - some stores have clothes hanging half off of the hanger, laying on the floor, piled up, etc...not Nordstrom.. Attention to detail has been given here. It's as if they have a neatness patroll.. I went here to look at boots and was immediately greeted by Kendra, she was a ray of sunshine..so helpful.. She understood my needs and did not push. She got me in and out in a jiffy and was so sincerely kind at the same time. I made an account to make a review for my favorite restaurant "The Cheesecake Factory" and couldn't help but leave a review for Nordstrom (it sits right next to it) I LOVE THIS STORE! I just went in for the anniversary sale and was so pleased with the quality of my purchases. I got 3 pair of shoes for my son and a northface jacket for $73!!! Along with the great clothes comes a great atmosphere. I love their customer service, they do everything they can to cater to you. The girl from active wear stayed with me for an entire hour as I tried to get some new pieces for my wardrobe. Her name was Alexis (same name as my sister) and I will not forget her smile and warmness. She didn't force me to buy anything, she really looked for what suited me best which is exactly why I love the Nordstrom staff. You get what you pay for. read more

I hate shopping!!! But I love this store. I had to pick up my daughter from work and I got there early. I had never been into Nordstrom. Again, I hate shopping. I ran by the department she was working and let her know I was there. Now I have forty-five minutes to wait. Okay walk around and check it out. I liked the selection of men's clothing. I actually tried on some pants and shirts. The sales person was great, not too swarming to the point of bugging and helping what I asked for. I liked this store, but I'm still not a fan of shopping. I went here before Christmas to get a makeover. The girl there was a very kind. I explained to her that I have anxiety and depression sometimes getting out of the bed is the hardest thing in the world for me. But I wanted to learn how to do makeup and I even offered to pay for her Services. She said it was no problem for 45 minutes I had an amazing time she did my makeup she showed me how mascara work and everything. She even showed me what lipstick would look great with my skin tone (I'm Chaldean and have a tan complexion) while she was putting makeup on me I heard some women who work there saying in Arabic that I'm wasting the sales girl time by trying on all this lipstick and makeup when I'm not going to be buying any of it. When I heard them say that my face turned red and I almost broke down in tears. I got out of the seat and was ready to run for the door but the kind employee talked to me down and helped me take some deep breaths. She kept reassuring me that I belonged here and it was okay that she was showing me how to do makeup because they do makeovers all the time. She was done I think her hugged her and walked out. I had a full-blown panic attack right in the mall. I was in tears and I was by myself. Luckily my cousin was on speed dial after talking to her I went back and spoke to a manager. I explained to her that simply getting out of bed is one of the hardest things for me to do so to come in to learn how to do makeup especially to a store I've never been to before was a big step. I started having trouble breathing when I was talking to the manager so we went into her office. I explained to her that just because I don't look like the typical Chaldean I understood word for word what they were saying about me. She asked me how I knew they were talking about me I told her they were standing two feet away and I'm fluent in Arabic. I told her if they could have some sensitivity training to know what it's like having anxiety maybe they wouldn't have talked about me. I assured her that I would never set foot in that store again because I didn't feel as though I belonged there and I never got my Vintage Rose lipstick. read more

I wouldn't ordinarily take the time to review a place as ubiquitous as Nordstrom, but after a few strange experiences there, I felt compelled. Of course this review will be limited in terms of its usefulness since each experience is going to depend in large part on one's expectations and the interaction w/ the sale associate. I used to think Nordstrom was top-notch. I really admired their commitment to customer satisfaction (even when I used to work there as a sales associate many, many moons ago). I had heard stories of how accommodating Nordstrom was -- taking a tire back from a customer though they don't even sell tires -- stories that made Nordstrom seem unreasonably dedicated to customer service. While I think they offer a great selection of merchandise (especially women's shoes) and have really beefed up their women's beauty/make-up department, I feel that their customer service has dropped a few notches. During my last visit, I had 2 aims: exchange a pair of (defective) Ugg boots and buy a wallet as a present. One of my boots was not very comfortable as the heel became warped and a piece of it bent into my back heel (so perhaps this should be a yelp about Ugg and how shoddy and overpriced their products are for the quality). When I explained the situation and showed the sales associate my shoe, she went on to explain that my boots were "one season boots" and not designed to last more than a season. This was news to me. For a pair of seemingly sturdy suede boots (Ugg's ultra classic) costing around $200, they were only intended to last one season? She somewhat reluctantly agreed to do the exchange and, in general, I felt like SHE felt she was doing me a big favor by exchanging out my shoe. Yes, they were worn and not brand spanking new. But as the wool wore down in the shoe, the issue w/ the heel became more apparent. I move to the small leather goods department to find a wallet that I saw online. I see several sales associates chatting amongst themselves. Nobody acknowledges me or the fact that I am clearly standing at the wallets counter, hoping for some assistance. I see them see me. Finally someone comes over. I explain that I was interested in seeing a wallet that I had seen online and ask to see a clutch w/ the same pattern I'm interested in since the wallet with that pattern isn't in the store. She hands me the clutch and while I am checking it out, she just leaves w/ no explanation. A few minutes pass and she returns and pseudo-apologizes by saying that she didn't really leave us, but by that point, another more helpful sales associate has come over. The original sales associate makes some comment about how great a clutch it is, which seemed pointless since I had no interest in the clutch itself -- only in a different wallet w/ the same pattern, which I had already stated. I decide to get the wallet sight unseen. The second sales associate places an order for the wallet from another store. I wait a few days before following up as I have not received an email confirmation as promised. I wait another few days and at this point, a week has gone by. I've been charged for the wallet and I still have no idea what is going on with the order. Keep in mind that this was intended as a gift and is now late. I follow up with Nordstrom online and it seems that they need time to investigate what is going on. The product is paid for and yet nobody seems to know where it is. What kind of business is this? Of course, I can't generalize about all Nordstroms, all sales associates there, or even this Nordstrom in particular. In general, Nordstrom's reputation and service in my eyes has diminished and I no longer have all the fuzzy warm feelings that I used to have about shopping there. read more

Matchmakers for your closet! I've gone in with very specific preferences, and they expertly found the perfect items. They must have great talent or training, because they tuned in to my shape and taste very well. A couple items the salesperson suggested looked ok on the rack, but amazing on me. I was so glad for their help! The home section is really great, too, although it's a small part of the store. Maybe my tastes just match the store buyer's, but everything there is beautiful. Save time in shopping for gifts: just close your eyes, point, and you'll find something great. One salesperson gave me a tip: ship orders to your house. Whether you're ordering online or while at the store, you can order the sizes/colors you want to try, then return extras to the store. Allegedly, orders shipped to the store have had mixups before. I was so glad the employee gave me this tip. I received my items in the mail really quickly! For this price range, this Nordstrom has the best customer service around! Only more-upscale boutiques have topped the service here. read more

Very prejudice. Didn't greet me when walking around as a customer or as an associate either....I was discriminated against because I am a black women who chooses to wear my hair NATURAL preferred in a curly damp bun used to style with conditioner.. and the HR manager said "nothing makes me more disgusted than a women that throws her hair in a wet bun" mind you i'm the only woman wearing a bun in the orientation while this ignorant comment was said btw... I asked what did she mean by that and she stated "oh no, I was talking about how some women come to work and wear there hair and throw it in a bun, but no i wasn't talking about you" implying that other white women wear their hair in messy buns and come to work... Mind you if for the white woman (grandmothers white with Irish bloodline) But what makes me acceptable and the other women not if I was doing the same thing that she despised of? In there eyes i wasn't "POLISHED". Out of all of the things to dwell on my hair was that significant? How about give me tips on my appearance, attitude or even posture. But hair? DISCRIMINATION, AND RACISM IS STILL ALIVE. It never disappears, about 60 years ago JIM CROW LAWS were in affect. Have respect for your customers and associates... On that not I resigned.. I refused to be unaccepted by uneducated souls about race and hair lol It's a way of getting your point across politely than offending someone especially when u hold authority in a higher position as a leader.. I had 100% great customer service and respect from Somerset Collection in Troy, MI which is the highest upscale mall in the state of Michigan... so for 12 oaks to be arrogant when the #1 nordstrom store is troy it's something wrong lol Take notes Love one another no matter of there race and God bless ; ) read more

I think everyone knows that Nordstroms is higher end than a lot of other department stores; however it's safe to say, you get what you pay for. They have thee best customer service and return policy of any place I have ever shopped, and believe it or not some of their stuff is not really all that expensive. Their online store has a much better selection than the physical locations, but when in a bind, I can always find something. :) read more

Despite this...I was offered a Nordstrom Credit Card...when I politely declined, however, the saleswoman kept on selling it. This saleswoman then proceeded to try to sell me two or three different Clinique items...talk about pushy! The icing on the cake was when this woman called me (I am in my 50's) "Hon". How rude. It is never ok for a salesperson to call a customer 'Hon"...it is demeaning and condescending. read more

I normally love Nordstrom and they're known for their exceptional customer service. Not the case with this location. Today I wandered through fragrance, handbags, and shoes with no one acknowledging me or saying hello even though I looked them in the eye and smiled. I started trying on shoes in the shoe section and no one came over to ask if I needed help or a different size. I later walked upstairs to their tailor services and the girl in the contemporary section was just plain rude. I've found employees at Nordstrom to be overly nice but I walked out of this store without buying a thing. I went in the late morning on a Sunday as well and they were NOT busy. read more

I called to have an item set aside that was listed as "in-stock" for this store online. The woman who answered my call told me that the item had been sent back to the retailer because it was no longer in season. When I asked her to double check she told me that she was "positive" that the item wasn't in stock. I then asked to be transferred to another department to speak to someone else. Instead of transferring me, the associate just set the phone down and I could hear her talking. After about 2 minutes of background noise.. I hung up & called back. I spoke to another associate who told me that the item WAS in fact in stock. She put them on hold for me.
