I was looking for a new sofa and loveseat for the living room. We are a multiple pet home and our last set fell apart within a few years so I wanted to be sure I found something sturdy that could survive pets. Had been to a number of stores when I went to Macy's furniture department. My salesperson was very helpful but gave me plenty of time to sit on this sofa and that sofa. I found a set I really liked but I wanted to research the furniture and bring my husband in to see it so told her I would get back to her. The furniture maker got good reviews and so did Macy's so I called our salesperson and told her I was definitely interested in the set. She put a "hold" on it for me and I went back later in the week and made financial and delivery arrangements. Right on time on delivery day (in fact a few minutes early) I got a call the truck was on the way. Two men soon arrived with my furniture totally encased in protective wrapping! They got this extremely heavy set into my house and set up in the living room in perfect condition. Macy's followed up with an e-mail survey to see how their service was--everyone got an A+--just hope the furniture holds up! read more

Horrible customer service. Estée Lauder staff went on break with 2 people waiting, went to another associate who said Clinique associate could help, who directed me to the Bobbi brown associate who refused to help and then went to text on her phone. No one would phone for help or bring this to a manager. Finally an associate from Clarins came back from break and tried to help the 3 people now waiting. 2 minute purchase with my 3 year old took 25. Need to find a place that knows about holiday staffing or spacing break times and customer service. read more

The SA's at the fragrance counter are extremely pushy and will literally chase you around the counter and make you smell all sorts of fragrances. I've had three associates pestering me to sample their perfumes in a matter of five minutes today, even after I've denied their help and told them "Thanks, but I'm just browsing." It is a shame that the fragrance section is the first thing you will walk past as soon as you enter Macy's from the mall because their associates really know how to annoy you to the point that you won't even want to buy anything from there anymore. I left and made a purchase at Nordstrom instead. read more

I had to do a return and I kept putting it off thinking it might take a long time. The return took a total of 2 minutes, the guy scanned the 6 items I had, and scanned my receipt and next thing I do know. He says sign there and money is back on your card. He wasn't one of those who asked a million questions, and then slowly refold the clothes while your waiting. He understood that time is valuable. Much appreciated for a nice fast easy return. read more

BRIDES, please, please, please do not register here. This review is simply for the Home store and the service that I have received each time I handled registry duplicates and after I completed my registry, wanting to purchase new items. Unfortunately, I feel as if it is like once they have you, they figure that their customer service does not matter. I completed my registry and am one month out from my wedding. I received a bunch of Macy's gift cards and wanted to purchase a mixer. I asked if I could have the "completion discount." After all, I had completed my registry. The awesome salesperson Edward, went and spoke to Judith during her lunch and was told "no, because I wasn't married yet." What? I get there there are "rules" but it is called a "completion" program. He asked if I wanted to wait until she was done to ask her again myself, but I said I'd rather just make the purchase and was so disappointed with the non-flexibility and lack of concern for the customer. Edward then called a manager above her, and then I eventually got this discount. Honestly, it should not have to be this difficult. I was purchasing a huge item, and ended up paying my own money above the gift cards. I want to feel like I'm treated not a person, instead of a bride who has friends and family wanting to find the perfect gift, and Macy's just liking making that money instead of caring about the actual person. Stick to Zola's (whose customer service is amazing) or Bed Bath and Beyond. With those two registries you will feel like you are treated like a person. Unfortunately, due to Macy's penny pinching, they don't realize that I will NEVER shop there again. I really appreciate sales associates like Edward, but it is unfortunate that the person in charge of the registry didn't choose to see me as a person, but instead as a number. I guess it's only Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Lord & Taylor, and Belk (online--because there isn't a close one) for this lady as a MRS. Bye, bye Macy's! read more

Please spare yourself unlimited worries n don't buy furniture from Macy's. Don't fall for worrynomore plan as it takes minimum 30 minutes to get connected and still will be pushed around. The sales staff is awesome, will make big deal about everything and then something happens and you are left to deal with very rude and unpleasant staff. No service. read more

I bought one item at this Macy's. I never received a statement that month. The next month I did get a statement, with a $35 late charge! This set in motion a real nightmare. I called to tell them I had never received their bill. They agreed to remove the late charge. I paid the legitimate part of the bill over the phone. My balance was zero. Then I started getting more bills showing late charges, interest fees on top of the late charges, and irritating robo calls by phone at all hours of the day. Each time I went through the whole story with them, they apologized and said this time they are really removing the charge. (It was "improperly removed" the last time.) Each time I try to explain this by phone I get put on hold, sometimes for nearly a half hour. The latest call from them, which I answered, assured me that my balance had been corrected to zero, but it takes 48 to 72 hours to remove my name from their robo call list. My question is, why? This is a meaningless call, just designed to harass and annoy the person. I do not owe them a single cent. Because of this, I have cut up my Macy's charge card and will never shop at that store again. Amazing as it is (this is Macy's, after all!) I think they are running a scam. They hope the person will get so confused or intimidated that they will pay money they do not owe, just to get rid of the endless phone calls. Beware of this store! read more

I have purchased a great deal of petite clothing from this store, and always appreciated the great selection that they have. During a recent visit, it appears that the "plus" size clothing has overtaken the petite department, and there is limited signage as to what areas are petites versus the plus sizes. This makes it difficult to determine where the petite areas are located in the store. Going forward, I will begin shopping in other stores for my petite clothing. read more

Since I just moved to the area, I was in desperate need of furniture for my apartment (sitting on the floor watching TV gets old real quick). Specifically - I needed a couch. I was interested in purchasing a sleeper sofa, so I could have a place for guests to sleep since my apartment is only a 1 bedroom. I researched the crap out of sleeper sofas. From everywhere - local furniture stores, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc. I then decided to take a look at Macy's Home Store, located at Montgomery Mall. I knew exactly what I was looking for, and luckily for me they had some leather sleeper-sofas on sale (whoop!). The gentleman that helped me was extremely polite, and not pushy. He helped me purchase what I wanted and let me get on my way. The whole process of purchasing the couch probably took about half an hour. One thing that really displeases me is when furniture consultants nag, bug, and push the heck out of you when you are trying to make your decisions. This was not the case at all at Macy's :) I would definitely purchase furniture from them again in the future. Just take note that it usually takes a few weeks for the furniture to be delivered, and they do charge you a small ($80) delivering fee, which they pretty much waive when they give you an extra 10% off your purchase. read more

Women's Jewelry Department Nobody wanted to help. They kept sending me back and forth to different people because nobody wanted to move to show me what I wanted to buy and none of them had any knowledge about the jewelry. This is the WORST Macy's! It took me so long to spot an employee. When I finally found someone to help me she was unfriendly, rude and just plain useless. I hate this store it's absolute trash. read more

The selection was decent and they were having a reasonably good sale on their Tommy Bahama clothes. The salesman was great, and even helped us get additional discounts. One shirt did not have a price on it, so instead of going through a huge price checking undertaking, he just charged us the cheapest price any shirt in that section was. Solid 4.5 stars. read more

I just called Macys to see if they by any chance had found a canvas bag that I had lost while shopping on Saturday. They did have it and were very gracious to go through it for me and let me know the contents were exactly as I told her. The lady was wonderful, friendly and I can't begin to say how pleased I am with the customer service. On Saturday there was another lady who walked all over the store trying to find the bag for me to no avail but she tried very hard and I just wanted you to know that she should be commended for her dedication to her customers. You should be proud of the way your customers are treated, very well. read more

Beverly in the men's department really knew her stuff and helped us find some nice hot weather shirts.

Don't waste your time and money shopping at Macy's. They tried to sell me damaged shoes, then agreed to ship an undamaged pair. They shipped the wrong size. Then, they shipped the wrong color. Then, they said they'd ship another pair and never shipped anything. I spent over 3 hours on several calls with customer service. To date, Macy's has not corrected this situation. My advice, stay away from Macy's. read more

Long lines, no employees to be found for help and angry management that was in need of some anger management counseling. Lastly every time I am in the fitting room there are five to ten clothes lying on the floor. Will not waste my time there any more. read more

I bought a sofa on 5/10/15 with the promise it would be delivered the following week 5/18/15, which never happened (no messages, no explanations). After I inquired, they responded the sofa would be delivered on 7/26/15, more than 2 months later than it was originally offered!! It's 7/29/15 today and again no explanation of any kind. The Macy's customer service takes up to 48 hours to respond, so I'm on the never ending waiting status. This is the worst experience I had with Macy's. I'll never buy another piece of furniture from them. read more

Was in this store today, extremely disappointed with their Customer service. I understand they are busy and being the day after Black Friday they where tired. But that is no excuse for blanking customers and talking to myself as if I was a inconvenience. Four separate staff members in three different sections of the store. I shop here often but I'm beginning to think my money would be better spent else where. read more

I love this place. from the variety of items to the customer service its wonderful. Way to go Macy's !

Just when I thought this store could not get worse, they out-do themselves in the useless category. While shopping in ladies "intimates" I was asked if I needed assistance by two associates only to hear, "I don't work here generally" as they walked away. The man who processed my transaction had been pulled from another department and complained bitterly to another employee while he begrudgingly took my payment. When I got home, I found that nasty electronic tag on the garment which necessitates ANOTHER visit to this black hole of commerce. GEEESH! read more

Clinique counter nightmare. Never heard so many "NO's" in my life. Horrible customer service. Ladies, take your $$$ somewhere else.

So I went with my friend to the Macy's in Montgomery mall to buy a sofa set. This was a new major purchase for her first apartment, so she was a little indecisive. This was 8pm at night so she told the sales person this was a big purchase for her. Well he told her that it's not really a big purchase and her $2,000 was not much, and he was so rude and condescending. Well needless to say we left and spent her little bit of money at JC Penny. Guess Macy's doesn't need business from regular folks. Go figure read more

This review is strictly for my experience with the fitting rooms. They are filthy and so warm it's miserable to try anything on. They aren't maintained to keep the rooms empty of clothing. I had to empty the room before I could go in an have any space to hang the items I wanted to try on. The rack in the main area to put unwanted items was so overflowing that people had just started to throw what they didn't want in a pile next to the rack. Zero room to put anything. What's worse is knowing that they will be taking all of those wadded up clothes that are all over the dirty floor and putting them right back out to be sold. Check your items for damage. read more

There is a sale at the women's jewlery; but there is no one to sell it. This is often the case at this macys especially on weekends. Only one sales assistant working for the whole womens jewlery dept. 30 minutes waiting time to get service. Come on!! As a dept store, they should do a better job. For now though, 2 stars. read more

This store is definitely going downhill. I have to call twice, disconnected the first time after holding for a long time. The second time I finally got somebody but the item that was listed a s available at a Macy's store is not available at this Montgomery Mall store. I stopped shopping here a long time ago because during the holidays, their fitting rooms are piled high with clothes that customers tried on and do not bother to put back in hangers. No one monitors the fitting rooms. read more

Macys is one of my favorite department stores and I have been a loyal customer for 10+ years. I buy more products (clothing, shoes, home products) here than any other single store. It's my "go-to" store. However, the quality of the store's customer service has really declined. In the past year, I haven't encountered a single sales representative that I was impressed by. In fact, in the past 3 months, I've had at least 2 horrible encounters with outright rude and abominable customer service. There was only one sweater left in my size, and it was on the mannequin. I walked to the nearest sales counter (only 4 feet away) and asked the sales rep to help me get that sweater. She wasn't helping any other customer, but she refused to help. She told me that she didn't handle clothing of that brand, and directed me to go ask for help at a customer service desk all the way at the back of the store, where they sold Charter Club. Unbelievable! A whole rack of the sweaters (just not in my size) was literally within 2 arms' reach, and she refused to help me! I refused to leave and finally another, newer salesperson offered to help me and ordered to have my size shipped to me. Another time, I asked the saleslady behind the jewelry counter a question, and she literally walked past me and ignored my question! The quality of this store's customer service has definitely declined. I'm disappointed, and would expect more in a Macy's branch located in Bethesda. In contrast, while I was walking through the Macy's store in Tysons Galleria Center), I was approached by 2 ladies asking to assist me. Given the horrible customer service I've received here, I feel pampered and so much more comfortable when I shop at Nordstrom's (at the same mall), where the service is so much friendlier, attentive, and appropriate. read more

Terrible employees-Never going back. I went shopping there two Saturdays ago and was walking by the Young Men's/Boys department on the way to Men's dept. As I was walking by I heard two sales associates and one in particular-MELVIN-dropping F Bombs and saying MotherF#$@! within earshot of many customers there shopping with their Kids. I told him to stop using that language as it was extremely unprofessional, rude and completely inappropriate . MELVIN's response was "get the F outta my face." When I asked him to bring his supervisor, he refused. I found his supervisors, wrote a statement and they stated they would get back to me within a week. No one from Macy's has contacted me. Unbelievable. They simply don't care about customers or being professional--Im not buying anything there ever again. read more

Worst customer service. Tried for over an hour to call the shoe department and it's impossible to get someone on the phone.

Clothes are usually pretty decent. Lack of obvious signs for each section as well as check out areas. Found only one sign by the escalator and it wasn't high up to be in view from a distance. read more

This is the most unprofessional retailer with which have ever done business. I will never spend another penny with this scam of a company. I brought furniture from them years ago and brought the Worry No More. If you do not use the Worry No More, you are entitled to a refund. Instead of issuing the refund, the sales associate attempts to argue with me and hang up on me. She was more focused on semantics of "cleaning" or "spot cleaning" in regards to what the sales associate told me five years ago! How am I supposed to remember that? Furthermore, when I call back to speak to a manager or supervisor they do not get on the phone. The last person I spoke with transferred me to a Worry No More company voicemail which is closed on the weekends after she specifically told me she would stay on the line with me and request the refund on my behalf. If I were to ever argue with a customer I would be fired, yet this is what happened to me when calling Macy's. It is better to just pay out of pocket for cleaning instead of having people take your money up front and them not return your money. read more

I usually enjoy going to Macys but after this time, I will never shop here again!! I wanted to exchange one blazer for another but sales associate told me that he cannot find in the system that my blazer was purchased!! I asked for a manager, when she came over she was rude and not helpful at all. I practically made her go and check in another computer CRL to pull up the transaction. After waiting for 15-20 min she finally came with another woman, who probably works as loss prevention. She didn't even dress nicely, she looked very sloppy and dirty! I am amazed that she came to work like that! This is beyond disgusting!! And extremely rude!!! So this woman starts telling me that my blazer was purchased and already returned TWICE!!! How could it be returned twice if I have a blazer in my hands?!?!?? I asked to call the store where blazer was purchased, they refused! I asked to show me a print out where it says that my blazer was returned twice, they refused! I took corporate office number an I am going to make a huge complaint!!! After I left the store I drove to another Macys where I returned my blazer with no problems at all!! The purchase was found, everything came up, it didn't show as returned, everything was fine! The bottom line is that no employee in this Macys wants to do their job! No one wants to help you and take their time to figure things out! Macys needs to hire some real professionals to work for the company and fire these incompetent people!!! I do not recommend to anyone to shop at this store!! read more
