It was in the middle of the afternoon, on a weekday, and there were a total of two tables filled and one person sitting at the bar. We chose our seat and the waitress brought our drinks quickly. We placed our order and food came out lickity-split. I had ordered a french dip sandwich. It had a small portion of meat on a hard roll, a little cheese, and a side of tots. The Au Jus tasted like straight beef bullion cubes. It was like dumping salt in your hand and licking it straight from the palm with a salt chaser instead of tequila. I wasn't able to finish the sandwich because there wasn't enough water in the world to get the sea-water out of my veins. My husband said the food was unremarkable and the slaw tasted 'off.' We always stop at either Mac's or Prodigal Son when we pass through Pendleton. On our most recent trip from Portland back to Boise, Prodigal Son was closed; we gave Mac's another shot. I should say that we always get great service here. The servers are always very friendly and helpful when it comes to menu decisions, as the food comes out amazingly quick. The food is always waaaay more than solid, too. There's a reason we consistently come back here, and it's because we enjoy the hot food. The menu consists of mostly bar food, albeit upscale bar food that is executed well. My fries and buffalo wings (which are stellar) are always hot and tasty. Yesterday, we had a vegan patty burger (mushroom swiss style) and the bacon cheeseburger. Both were awesome AND, for having a ton of toppings, could be eaten without a fork and knife. The person who assembled our burger must have had this in mind, whereas so many other eateries do not. I don't care if you're a garbageman, a line cook, a teacher, that guy who wipes off the stall doors in public restrooms, whatever, just do your job like you mean it. Thanks to all at Mac's who could treat their job like any other ho-hum food service industry position, but act like friendly professionals every day (or at least every time we visit). My only suggestion is that they could expand their craft beer menu, but I'm not sure if that makes fiscal sense in Pendleton (especially when they have the awesome, local brewery Prodigal Son that would probably detract from imports). They could also get a little more adventurous with menu options, but I have the same misgivings about that as I do about expanding the beer menu. read more

As far as Pendleton goes this place is a diamond in the rough. There are very few places that my husband and I (with our big city tastes) enjoy in this town. I like the location, the ambiance, the rewards club, the decent food and drink selection, and the events that they put on. Trivia nights on Thursday is so much fun with friends. The selection of food isn't bad but the appetizers never fill that bar food hole in my stomach. Usually the meals leave a bit to be desired to. That said the food isn't bad; it doesn't wow but it doesn't make you sick. It's decent. The bar is clean and the service has it's ups and downs, as all customer service does. Sometimes it is awesome, sometimes you are shocked. It's a must try for a local or someone just passing through. Like I said, there isn't much else to enjoy in this town. read more

The only thing decent was the green beans. We ordered a 12 oz steak and a 10 oz steak. The 10 oz was larger than the 12 oz. The 10 oz was ordered medium rare and the middle was cold and still moo-ing. The 12 oz had to have been rotten when they cooked it because three different people tried a small piece and were spitting it out immediately. It was DISGUSTING! No words can express how nasty that steak was. The mashed potatoes were fresh and not cooked. They were chunky and raw. It tasted as though they were mixed with sour cream and had a really weird texture and flavor. Couldn't eat those either. We did eat the green beans (which could have been cooked a little longer) and drank our sodas. This is a reoccurring issue that we have experienced. It's not consistent and usually inedible. We heard they had a new menu and wanted to give it one last try. I will NOT be eating there again for a VERY long time (if ever). read more

Ignore the other reviews. OK, the waitresses are a little on the chatty side, but the food I go there for is the bbq pulled pork. Ignore the rest of the menu. It is for show. The pulled pork sandwiches are awesome. I got a side of their house bbq sauce my second time and it was better yet. The fry sauce is fine too. I would sub a salad next time just to cut down on the calories, but I love the bbq pulled pork. Don't listen to the whiners. read more

Great attentive service! We actually stumbled in after being shunned and receiving the worst service across the tracks at Cadillac Jacks. Glad we did! Prime rib was melt in your mouth, vegetables fresh and cooked wonderfully . The staff here really made the impact! Our server Michelle could not have done any better! Great venue to watch your favorite sporting event or play electronic trivia with a group. Just be really really, (did I say really..) hungry if you plan to eat. Came here recently with five of us for dinner. The coconut shrimp served on a bed of undercooked rice with black beans was an adequate appetizer starter. The house salads were less desirable as some of the lettuce seemed as though they were picked thru the rabbit's cage with chunks of ends & browning leaf. The rest of the random veggie ingredients in the salad were satisfactory. The entrees ordered included rib-eye steaks that were mislabeled on the menu. They should have been called ground chuck steaks. These slabs of meat were flavorless, flat & tuff. Other entrees ordered included a Reuben sandwich that was indgestible, the meat was so old that we had to send it back to the pig trough. The chicken dinner salad was good & plentiful with slices of almonds, chicken breast pieces, various veggies.. The onion rings were overcooked & dripping with oil. We soaked them up with a handful of napkins prior to eating them so that our arteries would be happy. The tater tots were crunchy & delicious. The chocolate mousse cake w/fresh caramel sauce & sprinkled kosher salt crystals was a nice restaurant signature. Look, I get it. Small town USA, not a whole lot of business, cooking oils can't be changed out constantly, meats has to be used up rather than tossed out to control food costs, but when you are one of the newest, nicest venues in town, you have to maintain that level of expectations for your patrons. The 3 stars is based solely on atmosphere & the wonderful attentive service we received from the staff. They were welcoming & accommodating to our every sporting needs, even going the extra mile to offer a replacement for the failed Reuben. The multiple flat screens throughout the restaurant are nicely placed. The overall prices are reasonable. It appears the kitchen staff does not take as much pride in maintaining & mirroring the waitstaff. Ownership take note: change a few things and business will be bustling! read more

Don't bring your kids here during the Pendleton Round up, they won't cook their kids menu during that week, and won't tell you until after you have ordered, so then your kids don't get to eat. Apparently they can't deep fry frozen mini corn dogs at the same time they are deep frying the rest of their frozen crap. But the summer ice drink was nice. read more

Like the atmosphere and the staff is usually friendly... but had the chili cheeseburger and you could taste that the chili was old and burnt... not sure how many times it had been out in the cooler and reheated but it did not taste good... Also the burger was tough and you could tell it was a frozen burger. We came in on Friday 9/23/16 and had the prime rib dinner, which I have had a few times before with no issues. But this visit was probably the worst it's been ever. One of our friends ordered the same and had a fly in their mashed potatoes and the beers that were ordered, were either from a bad keg or not the right one on the tap. We eventually got settled with the drinks and when the food came out the tots and fries portion was a lot smaller than they used to be, and there was no discount or offer of compensation for the fly in the food. read more

Yes! Easily the best burger I've had all year - lovely bun, crisp veggies, perfectly cooked bacon, etc. - but the SAUCES! They make them in-house and the BBQ sauce is kind of life-changing. Also the guacamole, holy heck. Crispy fries with a slightly spicy batter go great in any of the above sauces. Nice service, friendly and helpful bartender (Chelsea) who gave us good info on which bars to check out, basically my only complaint was that the lights over the bar are a bit bright. And if you're a smoker, there IS a patio where you can bring drinks but there isn't much in the way of furniture. Still, appreciated! Will def stop next time I'm in Pendleton. read more

Food is just average bar cuisine. Everything is fried, which is fine but it was overly greasy. I'd give the food four stars because I wasn't expecting fine dining and my dad liked his prime rib sandwich. Steer away from the turkey, ranch and Swiss they forgot the ranch...the three stars comes from the service which gets a single star. Our waitress must have been new because she didn't even bring us silverware for the salad. I don't mind bad service because I'm not paying for that, but let your guests know your new so your tip is better. We had to ask for the check because she left us there so long and then a different waitress working brought it to us...overall just decent, I don't live here but I won't come back if I'm in town. read more

Stopped off here in our travels back home to watch a football game and get some food. The staff was awesome in helping us get a table to watch the game. We ordered onion rings and fried pickles for starters and they were great. We ordered the sriracha chicken sandwich and the chicken Cesar wrap meals which were good. However, the chicken noodle soup we ordered was very salty and the peach cobbler was too sweet and barely had any peaches, it was mostly cobbler. I would come back here and try some other things if we need to stop in Pendleton again. read more

Really great food. I got the turkey club and added mayo. I substituted my fries for their house salad with blue cheese dressing which was amazing. There dressings are made from scratch. Overall food was okay. The burgers were over done and tater tots out of a bag , which would be acceptable if not for the high price. The worst part of our experience was the local man who decided it was up to him as to when all other patrons should leave. So because of the rude "local" man who told us to leave at 10:10, after we had squared up our bill and just finishing our drink I give this place a very low rating for those visiting.
