I just want to express my appreciation for your stellar work over the years. I have been a Mac user professionally for about 15 years now, and during that time, have had more than one emergency, not to mention, requirements for upgrades and servicing. I have used services in Europe and Asia, in addition to Apple's own servicing centre in the USA, yet Mac Medics is my preferred site for servicing and repair for several reasons. First is the personal touch. I come in, I am greeted by name, my records are there, and irrespective of the nature of the visit, am always made to feel that my needs matter; whether the job is for my work or my kid's iPod. Second is the depth of knowledge of the team. More than once, I have requested something specifically, only to have the Mac Medics team suggest something that turned out to be a better option, and often less expensive. When I have gone out and sought a second opinion, I have invariably found that the advice was exactly right. Third is the straightforwardness and transparency of the work. When I drop off my machine, I get a call back that lays out the findings, the options, the cost and the estimated time to completion, and that is exactly what transpires; no hidden costs at pick up time. Fourth is the thoroughness of the work. In 2008, my 17" MBP's motherboard died. I received a call back on the repair work, and a Mac Medics staff member asked if the machine had been exposed to smoke, as this might be related to its current status. I had forgot that about 18 months prior, I had had one of the infamous Sony exploding batteries, and there was smoke associated with the event. Mac Medics suggested that, although they could do the necessary repair, I should talk to Apple, which I did and they (Apple) effectively replaced the entire machine (except the keyboard). Mac Medics' approach demonstrated both thoroughness and integrity. Then, there is the speed. The rate limiting step to any job I have requested is getting a part onsite. The turnaround time for even the most difficult jobs is brisk, which underscores that my time is valuable as well. More than anything else, however, is trust. I appreciate that Mac Medics is authorised to service Apple products, stands by their work, and will re-service a job if it remains under warranty. Superior knowledge, what a "genius crew" is supposed to be!!! Professional, honest, quick turn around, and HOPE. That's right, hope. At the Apple store, I was told there was no hope for my hard drive. In order to find out it would be an additional fee, a pretty hefty one. In fact, I was told the data was probably lost. Excellent service. There is nothing they don't know about everything Mac. All our family iphones have been there for one reason or another, cracked screens, new battery, locked system, etc. There's nothing they haven't been able to resolve. Prices are more than reasonable, and all repairs are done with Mac factory parts. No cheap imitations. One visit and you'll instantly see they know their stuff and you'll have a high comfort level. I used to think that the Apple Store was the happiest place on Earth. It's not. Mac Medics is. I had, what I thought was, a relatively simple software problem with my laptop after upgrading my OS. I called Apple Care and spoke with a rep who was very nice - but who ultimately couldn't fix the problem. Apple Care assessed that it was a hardware issue. First-available appointments at the Genius Bars in the area were a minimum wait of 4 days, so I went to MacMedics where I walked in and the problem was fixed in under 15 minutes. (Turns out it WAS a simple software setting - these guys beat Apple Care!!) AND, they also sell the same stuff that Apple Stores do... plus refurbished equipment, so no need to go to the Apple Store again! read more

I am an animal lover but the smell of cat urine/litter box was in unbearable to the point that my eyes were watering. The staff was extremely rude and standoffish. I went in having trouble with my Apple Watch not charging. They kept it overnight to check it out. They told me all was well. By late afternoon the battery had lost an unusual amount of charge so I connected the charger. When I went back to check the watch, it had lost even more charge and it would not pair with my phone. I returned to Mac Medics. The very tall, balding employee with a nasty look on his face, greeted me. I began to explain what had occurred and he cut me off. In a condescending tone and volume he said twice "we want your device to be broken, that's how we get paid". I patiently waiting, while he paired my watch with my phone. He helped two their customers, in the mean time. While waiting, I inquired as to what I I could have done differently to avoid this in the future and he ignored me and walked away. I'm not sure how long it took my phone/watch to pair, but the shorter balding man, with glasses pointed at the counter to my devices. I said thanked you and walked up to gather my things. I had to ask the man to unplug my device for me, as it was unreachable. I gathered my things and said to both men, "thank you for your time" and walked out. The next day, realizing I had left my sunglasses on the counter and my watch still wouldn't fully charge, I called Mac Medics to inquire about the glasses and a new charger, thinking that must be the problem with the watch. Brianna told me that there were no sunglasses but they did have a "third party" charger that is compatible. I went back to Mac Medics. The same two men there, while a third greeted me. I let him know what I needed and he went to the display and stated that they were out. I appreciated that he made the effort look in the back, while the shorter man with glasses did look over and grunted "if it isn't there, we don't have it". The nicer man did apologize, sweet of him. If you have cat allergies, a sensitive nose or just want to be waited on by happy/pleasant people, avoid Mac Medics! read more

They made getting a basic phone rental simple while my phone was sent back to Apple for a screen replacement, and it was a super fast turn from drop off to the pick up of my fixed phone. Best part was the convenient location - way easier than fighting my way into/back out of the Apple store at the mall. (Not to mention having way more available slots for appointments.) As a freelance writer and editor, my MacBook Pro is just about my whole office so I am extremely hesitant to take it in for any kind of service and become more than a little unhappy if it is gone very long. That explains why I waited until recently to upgrade the operating system and ignored the broken CD/DVD drive. But when programs stopped working correctly and I could no longer back up to MobileMe, I knew the time had come. I took it to MacMedics in Millersville, Md., and the people there recommended a new operating system, new hard drive, and an external hard drive. That all sounded great and I asked them to install the new Office suite as well. I also said they didn't have to fix the CD/DVD drive. Forty-eight hours later, everything was done and tested to make sure it worked. When I picked up the laptop, they patiently answered all my questions, let me turn on the laptop and check out the new operating system, and told me they had put in a new CD/DVD drive. I was delighted, but still apprehensive that I would get home and find bugs because that's often happened with other computer repairs/maintenance. Two and a half days later, I'm happy to report that everything is perfect and works the way the MacMedic folks told me it would. I could not be happier! I also appreciate that everyone I dealt with there, including someone I talked to in the Virginia office, was happy to talk over everything and make recommendations. It's great to know I have a computer repair/maintenance resource I can count on. read more

I have used MacMedics multiple times with always excellent service. They have always fixed every problem I have brought in, including a Mac Air left out an in downpour. The Apple Store in that instance told me they could not help. For Mac problems go to Mac Medics and forget the Apple store. The also have reasonably priced refurbished Mac computers. read more

I've been taking my Mac to MacMedics for a few years and not once I have I regretted it. But I have to share a recent experience. I made a HUGE MISTAKE of taking my computer to a local computer place in Catonsville (will be writing a review on them later). This OTHER computer company had my computer for two months and I do mean that very literally, exactly two months after being told repeatedly that the parts needed to fix it were ordered but are taking forever to come. After two months I demanded they return my computer. When the computer was returned to me, I took my computer straight to MacMedics (which I regretfully didn't do in the first place). MacMedics ran a quick diagnostic and explained that the exactly problem with my computer, they ordered the part and had my computer completed and ready in exactly one day! Talk about a completely different and opposite experience of what I had with that other company. It's worth mentioning that I walked-in and they ran the diagnostics immediately (try that at the Apple store because all youre going to do is get a ticket and wait). What was even better is that after running the diagnosis, ordering the part and returning my computer, the confirmed with Apple that the part was covered under warranty so there was no charge to me and no payment required. My monitor on my MacBook was a bit loose and they tightened the screws and removed a disc that was stuck in the drive and didn't charge me a single penny. I am not saying that it was the "free" stuff that made the experience great because I have paid with them before and they are well worth their service. Last point, while there, my car battery died and they were kind of enough to come out and give me a jump; not only do they fix computers, they fix cars (joking). Point is that, great service is very hard to find and these guys are top notch in both their service and expertise. As shared earlier, I have always historically taken my Mac's to this location and rest assured I will never make the mistake of bringing it anywhere else. These guys are on top of things! Keep up the great work and definitely patronize this business. PS - There new location in Severna Park is a superb location both in convenience on Benfield Road and the decorum. They have computers, monitors, phones etc on retail display. My daughter loves to come here now just to play with the phones. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE ATTITUDE- "IN BY 10:00 OUT BY 3:00" I went to MacMedics in Severna Park, Maryland, who were listed through Apple for a store to have my iPhone 6 battery change. They were terrible! I arrived at my appointment time (9:40 AM) and they said, for my iPhone 6 battery change, "in by 10:00 out by 3:00". I said I needed my phone by 2:15 as I had to be at work at 3:00. They responded "in by 10:00 out by 3:00" and indicated there were 15 phones in front of mine. I said I needed my phone by 2:15 as I had to work, and they responded again "in by 10:00 out by 3:00", blamed Apple for all the phones that needed batteries and told me to go to the local Apple store and wait 3 hours if I was unhappy. They noted that a 3 hour wait was fine, as that would allow me to get my phone in time, and left to go to the Apple store. My phone was then completed in time (it would have been done in 2 1/2 hours) and without any problem. Until they improve their customer service attitudes, I would NOT recommend MacMedics based on my terrible experience. read more

Excellent, fast service! We recently had our 8 year old iMac die on us. I dreaded going to the mall right after Christmas to see Apple. I remembered passing this place and I am so glad I decided to go. Dana was so helpful and knowledgeable and I knew that we were in good hands. Friendly, fast and fairly priced. I bought a used G5 over eBay from MacMedics for $153. It arrived DeadOnArrival. He initially reluctantly agreed to give me a refund (writing, "out of the goodness of my heart"), but the shipping cost for me (being in California) was at least $70. So I tried to sell it, but to no avail. I emailed him again and asked if I could return it, but he never bothered to send any reply. I had it diagnosed, and the repairman said it likely has a damaged logic board, which are expensive to replace. I'll never buy from MacMedics again. read more

I just did two transactions with MacMedics and I felt compelled to come on here and write a review because I was so satisfied. I can't believe the other review is so negative because my interaction and experience with them- notably dana- was nothing less than superb. I'm not sure what the miscommunication could have been but there are two sides to every story! Here was my experience in a nutshell- I made the HUGE mistake of buying a used macbook from a college kid off of Craigslist. Pause for horrified looks. I know but I am going back to grad school full time and was looking to save some cash.I should have gone to MacMedics to start with so what happened could have been avoided. The laptop that I purchased from this Craigslist person seemed to function fine for about a week. I did notice a humming noise that would get loud at times but no problems with machine. The noise did alarm me a little so I decided to take the Macbook into my local Apple store a few days after purchase to get a diagnostics test done. They checked it out and said it was fine- might need a new battery soon but that was all. However, after about a week of normal use, the sound became louder and the laptop began to intermittently shut off and on. So, I took it back and Apple geniuses looked at it again. This was my second trip into the Apple mecca and I needed answers. I was assisted by a different "genius" this time who had different answers this time around. I had to leave the laptop with them for a day so they could open it up and run more tests. The verdict was tier four repair that would run me 750 dollars. Apparently, the college kid had opened the laptop up and tinkered with the internal components rendering some parts of the machine damaged. They think he did this while trying to switch out the hard drive. So, for 750 they could fix everything wrong with it. I wanted specific answers as to what was wrong with it. Does it need a fan? Does it need a new CPU? They could not give me definite answers and just said it failed so many diagnostic tests that they were classifying it a tier four repair and it was a flat 750 dollar repair. They said they are not the actual tech specialists who do the repairs- they just diagnose and run the tests. Okay, so now i was upset and confused. I drove to the next nearest Apple store to see if they could be any more helpful. this store was in Towson. They ended up keeping my Mac for five days just to triage it and diagnose it. They came back with a diagnosis of water damage and thats all they could tell me. They also said level four repair for 750 but could not tell me what exactly the computer needed to get it functional again just like the other store. The repairs would have a 90 day warranty and thats it. I was about ready to just spend the 1100 and buy a new MAC Pro that the geniuses were pushing me to do (and give up on my Craigslist purchase as a costly mistake) when I decided as a last ditch effort to get one last opinion. Thank God I found Dana and MecMedics. From the moment I stepped in that door, I knew he was going to get some answers for me and I could tell he takes pride in his business and work. He did not find any water damage in my laptop and said the repairs would be quite simple- a new fan to prevent overheating and new RAM. Saving me hundreds in comparison to what APPLE wanted. I also ended up buying another laptop from him that they refurbished and am extremely pleased with it. I would put my neck on the line to recommend them. Mac Medics to the rescue! Last week one of my external hard drive failed to mount for no reason. I contacted the drive's customer IT support and they said the drive probably went bad (even though it was only 5 months old) and because it was a RAID drive which was set up as RAID 0 I probably lost ALL my data and there was no way to recover it. In desperation, I scoured the web for hours reading forums on the issue. I almost sent the drive to a very expensive data recovery site in California until I started to google local options - finally I found Mac Medics! The cost of data recovery at Mac Medics was a flat fee of $199 (no matter how much data needed to be recovered). Chris at Mac Medics did a wonderful job keeping me informed of the job status. When he called me to tell me he was able to recover all the data from my drive, even back it up and created a duplicate folder which was more organized according to file type, I was so elated! I had to pull over to do a happy dance. All the information on the drive was irreplaceable so they really rescued me and my data! I would highly recommend them for any situation that involves external hard drive failures. Thanks MacMedics! read more

I showed up at MacMedics with the worst case scenario - years of (yet to be published) dissertation data on my MacBook Pro, which I had not dutifully backed up recently enough, and my hard drive was swimming due to a spilled drink into the keyboard. Within 4 days, MacMedics saved my computer, all of my data, and replaced my hard drive. I have learned my lesson and am backing up my data as I type! MacMedics was amazing, keeping me informed on a daily, if not twice daily basis, and saved my data and MacBook. I would go NOWHERE else for any Apple services! read more

These guys are the best. I bought a Mac back in 2009 and they recommended an external automatic hard drive back up. The Mac and the hard drive have been running great until I downloaded an update that the Mac definitely did not like. In a panic I called Chris at Mac Medic and he assured me it could be fixed. I dropped the Mac and external hard drive off at their office in Millersville. Two days and $99 later the machine is working perfect. They never try to sell you a product or a service you don't need. In fact, I gave them a credit card to buy some software and they said rather than buying a program they found a trial offer to see if it worked the way I wanted. Once I was satisfied with the product I could charge it on my own. They are an authorized Apple dealer for both sales and service. Pricing is very competitive and service turnaround is extremely quick. Ask about some of the older models and refurbished units they have in stock at really great prices. read more

3rd time using these guys and can't say enough good things about them! First 2 times were in home service for wifi network issues. Both times tech arrived on time, was knowledgable and got the system up and running quickly. Today my iMac crashed...blank screen, wouldn't bootup. Took it in without an appointment and the problem was diagnosed, fixed and had a working computer back within about 4 hours. Dana at the Severna Park store was very helpful. Turns out my video card went...an expensive problem. Luckily it was covered by Apple as it was a known problem with their machines. Dana worked with Apple to get the authorization to do the work, had the part in stock and got it back to me the same day with no cost to me! Customer service doesn't get any better than that! Oh my gosh, do NOT trust these people! I took my daughter's iPad in to have the screen repaired because their website says they are Apple Certified Techs. They inspected it and told me they could do it for their advertised price of $199. When they gave it back to me, the glass was not on correctly and it broke again. I took it back and they couldn't deny the shoddy work, so they agreed to do it again. The president of the company, Dana Stibolt, called me and said, "I have a policy to back up my work, but I am not going to uphold it because I can't properly fix this. I'll give you your money back or replace the glass again, but the glass is going to break. You cannot bring it back to me when it does." When I pressed him for more information, he told me his tech had tried to bend the back case to get the glass in." And by the way, we're not really certified to repair iPads anyway." Meanwhile, because of their deceptive advertising, they voided the Apple warranty. What a sham! Then he told me I should call my credit card company and see if they'll replace the iPad under their consumer protection warranty. I did have another warranty through Squaretrade but he voided that one as well! He told me to send it to them anyway and see what happens. I told him that was dishonest and I wasn't comfortable doing it. He told me I shouldn't worry about it, we could probably get away with it. So, I asked him if he is bonded and insured, and if so, would he file a claim on his insurance because he rendered my iPad out of warranty. He said, "How dare you even suggest that to me!" These are NOT honorable people and I would NOT recommend them for any kind of work. read more

My consultant ran a free diagnostic, and showed me on my computer what the problem was. I couldn't even get my Mac to turn on, and in seconds, he had it up and running. Not only did he fix the problem, he showed me my battery was ready to go, in addition to spotting the charger I was using was counterfeit, and ruining my laptop! (I bought online) He also informed me I had a free addition to my Mac that I was also unaware that was installed for free. Definitely worth the drive (and they're open Saturday mornings for drop off/pick up!). I have used MacMedics for years, and am always impressed by how professional and thorough they are--this business is run the way a business should be run. Most recently I brought my broken (older) laptop in, not sure if it was worth it to fix the broken clamshell cover. I brought it on a Friday afternoon and on Monday they called to say they could repair it with used parts if I'd like. That was perfect--I didn't have to sink a lot of money into it. It was ready right away; I picked it up and it looks great and works perfectly. I have gone to other Mac repair places that take up to a week just to look at the machine, and never call me back when I call to check the status. Other places may have to send it somewhere for repair. MacMedics has always stayed in good contact and repaired things really quickly. I wish all businesses were run so well. read more

I can't tell you how wonderful MacMedics has been! I am a photographer who has used Apple products for years. I end up taking hundreds of GB worth of photos and am very hard on my computer when it comes to editing and storing all of them. My Mac was a few years old and I wanted to upgrade my RAM and hard drive space. After speaking to MacMedics they helped me find the best solution- I ended up installing extra RAM, getting a solid state hard drive for my operating system, and getting separate hard drives to help store all of my photos. They fixed everything efficiently and were really patient and thorough when answering all of my questions! When I later had some issues with my disk permissions, they were able to walk me through what I needed to do to fix these and the problem was solved. Many people have no idea where to turn for Apple services, sales, or data recovery, so they just end up going to the Apple Store and paying too much for it, not getting an accurate diagnosis, or going elsewhere and ending up with terrible service. But that is not the case with MacMedics- they are great on all accounts. They also give you a 1 year warranty- a big plus in my book. Highly recommended! read more

While viewing familiar sites online, I got a grey screen and message saying that my Mac was in danger of a serious threat. I was unable to X-out which added to the fear. I called the number and was "diagnosed" with a level 7 threat which only a few techs nearby could handle. One I would have to bring them my Mac and leave it for 7 days; the other an online tech who could "fix" the problem in an hour. Naturally I choose the online tech. Of course, he was able to show me the threat. Since i am not a computer geek, he could have shown my anything. I had to pay over $300 to clear my computer of the threat in advance. After the "threat" was removed, I did not feel good about it. I contacted MacMedics. I barely had my story told, when I found out it was a scam. I was devastated to say the least. When I asked what I should do, the tech told me to bring in my Mac so that he could assess whether any harm had been done to my computer. I immediately headed to MacMedics. I was greeted at the door. The tech proceeded to look at various things on my Mac. He even got a second opinion. Luckily for me, it was determined that no harm was done to my computer. I was also told that what the scammer added to my Mac, MacMedics would have chosen the same programs and installed them for about $50. The tech also said that I should dispute the charge for the $300+ charge. I did and won. I really appreciate the honesty and integrity of the techs at MacMedics. If I ever have a problem with my computer, I will definitely go there! read more
