I came in to iMechanics completely panicked because my file for my book manuscript was corrupted. Al the technician found the problem and created a new file for me - minus the corruption. I was so relieved and grateful!!!! I totally recommend the team at iMechanics...they have helped me before and they are my go to peeps for computer problems. read more

I've only received excellent service from MacMechanic over the past five years. I bought my desktop iMac there and then an iPod. Very knowledgeable people on the floor. They are an excellent locally-owned alternative to the big corporate store. read more

The hard drive crashed on my computer and I took it to Mac Mechanics. They are funny, smart, and did the job in 24 hours. What more can you ask for? Oh yeah, good price, got that too. read more

This week I purchased a "refurbished" MacBook Pro for $800 from MacSuperstore. When I got it home and tried to hook up my USB cables I discovered both ports were inoperable. One was physically damaged and the other did not work. I returned it and got my money refunded. I told the clerk that I assumed "refurbished" meant that the computer was in complete working condition. Instead of apologizing in any way all he said was "that's not what refurbish means. It means we replaced and upgraded the hard drive." For $800 I would expect more. In the past I have had a good experience here so this was a dissapointment. read more

I wonder if the owner of the company is aware that they have someone answering the phone that actually offends people, won't transfer them to another rep and tells them that if they don't like the way they are being treated, they can go somewhere else? The person that answered the phone acted like a car salesman dealing with a woman. I had asked a pointed question, and rather than telling me he didn't know the answer or would have to check on it, he fumbled around with an answer and then went on to tell me it is "more complicated than that" and spewed some other technical specs that had nothing to do with the question. After a little back and forth, and realizing he didn't know the answer, I asked if he owned the shop. He told me no, so I felt free to ask to speak to someone else. He told me no-one else was available. When I told him I could call back and asked what would be a better time to call when someone else would be available, he refused to tell me and kept insisting--talk to him or no-one. Basically, he became an impenetrable wall that prevented my customer-$$ from reaching the MacMechanic till. BTW- he also gave me false info, telling me Apple no longer makes batteries for my MacBook. Not only did I find conflicting info online, little did he know that I had already talked to Apple's tech support to confirm it! Someone else came into the room during my conversation with MacMechanic and asked me why I would bother contacting them because everyone in town knows they are a***-you-know-whats. Never again. read more

Just completed a one2one session with Kevin. He got all my gmail and Mobile Me setups in the correct order, complete with total synchronization. This is so great. My iPhone, iPad and iMac all sync with each other. All good -- all the time. Kevin was prompt, knowledgeable and patient. MacMechanic rocks. read more

We've been customers of MacMechanic since the late 90's - way before the coming of the Apple store downtown. We've bought many, many Macs from them, and have used both their instore and at-home servicing. I have only good things to say about these guys. They offer a personal touch that you don't really find at the Apple store, and of course it's much easier to park and get to compared to the handsome Apple store on State street. The remodel of MacMechanic a few years ago was very much needed - its previous incarnation was pretty dark and cramped. But now its a clean, bright and attractive place, staffed by knowledgeable and friendly folk. Highly recommended. read more

This isn't an update, It's a new review about the service I received last week from 2 of this neighborhood-like store's techies. Morgan D is the store educator/tutor. I bought a package of 3 sessions and will be buying more. it was so worth it. I'm a visual learner and sitting next to the person teaching me all this stuff I MUST know if I'm to do business out here really, really helps. Thanks Morgan. OK, so then we ram 'up' my hard drive and this is when it got a bit sticky. Evidently, an issue between the old version of Google Drive and Mac's Maverick, the system that replaced my old Lion system (I think), made my laptop act wiggy once I got home...so back down I went. This time, Nima took care of me and the issue. He was terrific and kept saying he wanted me to feel completely comfortable with the updates and ram additions and a that Mac techie jazz..... I am. She's zipping along...sooooo much faster. Thanks again guys & I'll be booking more lessons soon. read more

These guys are awesome. This is now the third time I've used the store, either to buy a great computer, or get something installed/ upgraded. The service is personal, friendly, quick, and efficient. A special shout out to Max, an employee, who just helped me get Creative Suites installed! He was very helpful, as were other employees. Clearly very knowledgeable and familiar with not only the tech, but the foreign software, which was rather impressive. Overall great experience and DEFINITELY deserves the 5 stars. read more

I was referred here by Apple who thought I needed a part replacement. I went in and told them what Apple said so they opened the machine and told me they could just clean it instead. I ended up spending $300 less on the repair than I expected. I didn't know any better and they did not take advantage of that. They were honest and friendly and efficient. I hope I don't need them again but if I end up with another computer issue I'm going straight to them!! read more

I love going to the MacSuperstore! Today I had a issue with my printer and Henry was a gem to work with, he resolved the issue in less than five minutes and I was on my way. Every time I go it is a joy and very helpful. For someone who is not technical by nature or passion, it's a must on your to go places. Thank you!!! read more

Had good experiences with my computer at your store in the past. This time brought my older MacBook Pro in to be diagnosed for a screen problem, I ok'd the diagnostic fee ($45). When I came to get it they added on labor charges to diagnose even though I had not authorized any work to be done. Rather than $45 it was now $75. Interesting policy, easy way to get money and lose customers. read more

I went in right before the Thanksgiving holiday and was so impressed by their service I am writing my first yelp review! Today, I brought in my sad macbook air that had no memory left and was filled with vicious, spying spyware to the brim! but Pete swept through my mac like a ghostbuster with a new proton pack. He was extremely patient with my caveman-like lack of tech knowledge, cleaned the system as quick as I think humanly possible (robot maybe, pete...), and actually took the time to install a couple Anti-BS. applications that will help me in the future, like a guardian angel watching overhead as I edit pictures and watch cat videos. Anyway, Pete did a wonderful job fixing issues with my mac computer and I would highly recommend the service of this business. Highly. read more

I worked with both Tyler (store manager) and Justin (service manager) in buying an iMac and my experience was fantastic. I told Tyler that I wanted a new iMac but that it wasn't really in my budget. He said that there is not a whole lot he can do besides keep an eye out for a refurbished one for me. Soon after that I was contacted by Tyler that I was in luck! Justin worked on refurbishing an iMac that was dropped (which now works and looks perfectl!) and Tyler helped save me some money. This was my first time not going to the Apple store and I can't imagine ever going back. Not only was the service here of the highest quality, but it felt much more personal. You can really tell that they care about your satisfaction. Highly recommended!! read more

I've been taking my computers to MacSuperstore for years--they are the best! Manuba often fixes things without charge, like recently when I took my MacAir in to see if it had a virus. He scanned it and did an update without charging me! This wasn't the first time this has happened through the years. Everyone is super helpful and they are not at all looking to take advantage of customers--on the contrary. You can tell a lot about a place with how they deal with you as a customer when things don't go well. I had my old Macbook Pro in to be refurbished--it was just about to be declared obsolete by Apple, but I wanted to replace the hard drive, fix the Airport and get it running the best it could before the parts no longer would be available (I love that old computer!). The service department worked on it but there was a snafu with the Airport going down and the computer not being ready when I was told it was--the service manager was more than fair and gave me a deduction on the price plus a 3-month guarantee even though the part had already passed the last date Apple would support it. I just found out the store can write Verizon contracts, so when mine can be renewed next month, I am definitely getting my new model iphone at MacSuperstore--I highly recommend them! read more

I gave this two stars because a year ago when I visited, I had a great experience. Not so much today. I drove all the way downtown after arranging a babysitter, walked in and asked a pretty easy question, hoping to get someone to just walk me through what's going on w/my laptop. The guys was very short with me, talked down to me, and essentially tried to push me out the door without helping, despite the fact I was still confused and didn't get the reassurance I was looking for. Such a waste of my time!!!!! Next time I will just make an appt with the Apple store since that is at least guaranteed to get an outcome. read more

My Mac wasn't turning on and it would make a funny beeping noise. Someone fixed it right away and took the time to see if my online bought charger was working properly with my laptop. The whole process took only a few minutes, however it took 15 minutes waiting for someone to come help me. They were fairly busy and only had two people working at the time. Overall, I wasn't charged for my fix and I would definitely come back to them for more computer issues. read more

My daughter spilled water into her MBP on Sunday. After quickly turning it off and putting it upside down to hopefully drain the water I researched what to do online. All the articles said the same thing - it was toast but that I should take it to Apple to assess the damage. So I set a genius meeting with the Apple Store on Sunday (only store open on Sunday ). Went there and talked to a nice guy. In my career and life, one of the rules I live by is 'diagnose then prescribe' but Apple being a big company has rules. Their rule is simple on this matter - its $755 to basically replace the inners of the MBP, no options. But this doesn't fit my life rule. The Genius told me that I might have a local store like MacMechanic look at it to see if a lesser repair would work. I took it to MacMechanic who checked it out and very luckily it was ok. The difference is Apple has rules which probably work most of the time but MacMechanic can be more selective. read more

I will never choose to go to the genius bar again. At apple I was told, it will be at least $610 to fix my mac laptop which wasn't charging. At the macsuperstore it ended up costing me $50. They were quick and since I'm typing on that computer, they obviously did a good job at the repair too. read more

These guys ROCK!!! I've had good service here before, but this time takes the cake. My elderly father fell for a phone scam to "fix a security problem" on his computer -- via phone, where they basically try to hack his computer & install malware or spyware (& charge him for it), & I'm 300 miles away & couldn't deal in person, so I got his caregiver to take the computer in for the guys there to scan, & they checked it out, de-installed a couple of malware programs, & cleaned it up FOR FREE! These guys TOTALLY have all my Mac business when I'm in Santa B! read more

Horrible service. Extremely slow. Was told a different story every time I called. Don't understand rating on this place.

Great service. Had a problem with my iPhone not charging. They figured out the problem, lint in charging port, cleaned it out. Now it works like new. Didn't even charge me. Couldn't have been nicer. read more

I have used MacMechanic twice now and both times I thought my computer was not savable, and both times they got it up and running! Initially I had water damage, needed a new hard drive, and a new front panel, and they fixed it all. I called a lot and they were always polite and kept me updated on the progress. I coudn't recommend them more highly! Everyone was kind and courteous, everyone smiled and treated me with respect- REAL customer service here! read more

After multiple attempts they were able to fix my computer and get all the programs working again.

I have (had) a 8 year old iMac die recently, and I took it to the Mac Superstore to see if they could salvage my hard drive. They were very friendly and professional. Not only did they save and transfer my hard drive to a portable drive, they did it for considerably less money that they estimated and is less than half the time estimated! That is service! It's quite different from what you get from my local service provider. It was absolutely worth the drive. read more

Fantastic. I walked in unannounced at 3 PM with my MacBook Pro because the trackpad had started to go wonky. I was seen instantly even though they were very busy. The techie ran Apple's own diagnostic on the trackpad and confirmed that it had gone bad. He said: "We have the part, this is easy, we'll do it right now." I was stunned. I went across the street and did a little shopping, and an hour later the MacBook was done - working perfectly, beautifully clean. Incredibly great service at a great price: knowledgeable, friendly. I also saw other techies helping customers, who clearly knew nothing about their own computers, in an extraordinarily patient, gentle way. These guys are a class act. read more

My boss was having issues with his Iphone. Apple could not get him an appointment until the following week. awesome service! fast! efficient and reliable. they were so kind in answering all my questions & concerns. thank you!

I must say I had a hard time with the change from Mac Mechanic to Mac Superstore, mostly because the person I had worked with forever had left the company during the transition. Since he left I hadn't really needed much help with regards to my laptops, that is until last night. One of my brand new laptops crashed and my other was running slow. After trying n my own to fix the issue with Apple support I decided to go see The Mac Superstore. I must say I was greeted by a familiar face and as always they were super helpful. My issues progressed and while they helped me with one laptop I also told them of my other laptop's issues. While they worked on one I brought down the other and they had that one fixed quickly as well. Today I had Pete working on my computer and I can't say enough wonderful words about the way he treated me, his eagerness to help, his willingness to go above and beyond and his overall desire to keep me informed as he worked on the computer, calling when it was done and then offering to do just a little more to make it perfect. It is that sort of customer service that made me a huge fan of the Mac Mechanic and I am happy to report that it is still the same at the Mac Superstore. Thank you Pete for being so attentive and for going above and beyond!!!! read more

The MacMechanic is my choice for Apple products and service. They seem to really care about their customers and they don't act like gods (not like some of the arrogant and condescending employees of the Apple Store). I've owned Macs and other Apple products for 25 years, and the MacMechanic has performed 3 repairs to my full satisfaction. I found their realtime online repair status updates very handy during the period of my last repair - this avoided repeated phone calls to the technician. read more

I came to the store this past Monday with a frozen Outlook email application on my MacBook Air. Justin, the service manager, greeted me and proceeded to spend over an hour at the counter trying to restore my contact information. He was about to give up and gave me a number to call Microsoft when he thought of another potential solution (having tried many) and it worked!!!! I can''t thank him enough as I have so much data in my contact list. Justin was very professional and tenacious in trying to solve my issue without having to leave the machine. I would recommend this business to anyone! They also have classes on computers and Ipads and I am surely going to take a few! Thanks Justin again, you saved me so much time and effort---you are just the best! read more

My hard drive died, so I took it in. I had a late 2007 model, with 160 gigs. They gave me options for how big of a hard drive, from 320 to over 1 TB. They weren't too expensive, but I went for the 500 gig. When I got it back they replaced the keyboard, all the panels around it, the track pad, and the panels around the monitor without charging me for it. They noticed some bolts were missing so they replaced those free of charge. My macbook looks new and it's almost 5 years old. It works like a dream, and it was very inexpensive. Great service, and very fast. I thought I lost my baby forever, now it's better than ever... read more

You can really tell the quality of a business when things do not go as hoped for. Such is the case with my first time positive experience with MacMechanic. My 2013 MacBook Pro had an odd problem--sometimes the screen would go dark and then the drained battery symbol would come up even when the battery had usually between 30 to 50% charge left on it. I put up with this for quite a while by plugging it in and charging it and the computer would again function normally. Until eventually one day the screen went black. MacMechanic put a new display on it, which allowed it to function again, but it still had that odd ball problem. We then tried a new battery without luck. At this point, after more diagnostic work, it appeared that there was a problem with the logic board (which happened to some 2013 McBook Pros) and the computer was no longer worth saving. They refunded the cost of the parts (the highest part of the cost) and transferred my data over to my new Mac when I got it. Throughout the process the technician communicated regularly with me so I was never left wondering what was going on. I feel that this was a fair and ethical solution to my problem and I was treated very well throughout. I would definitely go back (once my new Mac is out of warranty). Oh--and btw, the technician recommended that I check out B & H for my new laptop. No sales tax, about $1000 cheaper than Apple, and they are Apple certified resellers so you can buy the Apple care plan so you can still take in it to the Genius bar under warranty. read more

This is the best Mac store anywhere. Period. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, even if you know nothing, and really care. After calling Mac Mechanic in a panic about a hack & scam, they asked me to come over right away. Henry & Peter helped me (my husband was also there). After a brief explanation of what I'd experienced, Henry assured me right away that it was probably not serious - more of an attempt to sell a bogus service. Henry quickly checked my computer for malware and told me what to do if the error message ever showed up again. I was impressed by the competence and courteousness we received. Some computer service techs take on a dismissive attitude when an older customer asks for help. Not all of us "oldies" are computer illiterate. Both my husband and i made our livings on computers: he as a programmer and I as a graphic designer. We will certainly use Mac Mechanic (Superstore) in the future and recommend it to others! read more
