Recently one of our computers was compromised. I brought it in to SB PC Tech to have it repaired and to assure myself that the hackers had not left malware of any sort. The owner, Ricardo, met me at the office first thing in the morning, tackled the issues and told me I would have the pc back and in good order by the next day. In fact, he contacted me that afternoon and told me the cleanup work was done and the machine was now safe to operate. Worked with Ricardo. Over the phone, he figured out what the problem most likely is and how to fix it, but he wanted me to bring it in to be sure. Sure enough, he was right, the replacement part was ordered (he gave me options for new or used, etc), and he'd let me know when it was in. He texted me when it came in, and when I dropped it off in the morning, he told me it would likely be done by the end of the day. He had it done by noon. He also noticed my computer was taking forever to start up, and found 27 malware programs (the antiviruses I've used are somehow never very good). But I agree it takes forever for my laptop to start up. I told him to go ahead and please remove them for me, he had it done in a similarly very short time span. I am very grateful. He also cleaned up/ dusted the whole thing, explained everything in a way I understand, and was overall very professional. I will return to him for IT needs. read more

This review is based strictly on customer service. Left a message asking for a call back. After a week still no call back. Called again, but got answering machine again. Also, it was confusing where Ricardo was actually located as it appears there are two addresses. Both are downtown which requires parking in a garage and carrying computers through the streets. After enough waiting, I called Ramsin at Santa Barbara Computer Repairs and he immediately answered the telephone and took care of my issue same day. He is located on Micheltorena and was easy to park right in front and drop off and pick up work. He was very reasonably priced and extremely knowledgeable. Charged to come out to fix a problem, was here about 20 mins. problem was fixed for less than an hour, called back to let him know, he asked what did we do?, nothing we weren't even in the office and stated that he can come back to fix the problem again and would charge the same amount. Ricardo was a great help. I went to him to install a new screen on my laptop, which cracked when a household item fell on top of my laptop. Ricardo help me find the part that I needed to purchase on Ebay and let me know upfront what his labor cost would be. Unfortunately, the screen I purchased from Ebay was defective, but I didn't find that out until after Ricardo already installed it. I had to take it back to Ricardo to diagnose the problem. He was very nice and patient in helping me determine that the screen was defective, since the screen itself would have errors in projecting displays, but that problem would not manifest when the laptop was connected to an external projector. Ricardo is great and he sure saved me additional costs in running a full diagnostic on my laptop to determine if it was a problem with the screen versus the laptop itself. read more

Ricardo refused to correct his own mistake, despite I trusted him. He spent a few hours trying to transfer my info from Window to OSX, and said that all data were saved on back up disc and to the Mac. When I tried to open it at home, instead of 23 songs of each albums (with ~10,000 songs in total) there were only 1-2 and only about a dozen of the albums, the rest was not there. On the back up disc there was no songs at all, just sets of signs and letters. I asked a few specialists Including computer engineer and scientist) to find them, and they said that they are not there. I called Ricardo, told him that the problem was NOT solved after I paid substantial amount of money and wasted several hours waiting. He was dismissive and condescendent, said that it's my fault, refused to help, said he is in a hurry and advised to get help elsewhere. I would recommend to be very careful with him. read more
