The food was awesome! I had the New York Philly Cheese Steak. The meat was very tender and the sandwich was made perfectly. The fries are to die for! My husband had the Cowboy Melt(or something like that). It has steak, green chilies, pepper jack cheese, tomato and a special sauce. It was really tasty!. Our girls odered off the kids menu. They had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and mac and cheese. We finished it off with fried cheesecake with strawberries and vanilla ice cream. It was the perfect ending to dinner. A solid, clean burger joint. Service was friendly and helpful Pricing is a bit high for what you get. Burgers are good, but not terribly large. Fries are fried out of a bag (not homemade) -1 star. Lettuce on the burgers is shredded & any vegetables served with the the burgers are sparse (-1 star). Ambiance/theming is sparse southwestern. The reviewer who said the theme is hockey/southwestern is quite confused. (I'm not even sure what that would look like -- but it ain't this place). Always on the lookout for a restaurant with good food, good service and a nice patio. Payson has Macky's Grill. The food really varies depending on what you order, I've been there 3-4 times and it's a gamble. Nothing is horrible, but some of the items in the menu are just ok. But the whole experience is enjoyable nonetheless. Probably because it's a layed back place with a nice patio. I love patios. The weather is nice up there, specially when it's 120 degrees in the valley. And if you're not too full by dessert time, try the butterscotch pie. But be warned, you should split it with somebody, it's the richest pie I've ever tried. Sooooo delicious. And if you're not sleepy, you can walk to the movie theatre and catch a flick. Cute little diner in Payson with decent prices. We have stopped here a couple of times traveling south from Flagstaff. First time was for a burger and hot dog with sauerkraut which were both good. Gotta love their pies. I've been here several times with my parents in the past and introduced my husband to it today on our way back into town. Stopped by here while visiting the nearby town of Strawberry, after a day at the Tonto natural trails. Very clean and Covid friendly. The staff was very accommodating to us wanting to eat outside in the cold weather. Everyone enjoyed their food. We ordered 3 plates of wings, the grilled cheese with added bacon and the ancho burger. First visit today, Sunday afternoon. The place is packed and the staff was running to keep up but the managed it well. The food choices were plentiful and the portions generous. The food was VERY GOOD! I had grilled fish, with a generous side of veggies, great cornbread, and a delicious soup. Hubby enjoyed a beef dipped sandwich and my sister and her husband had a gorgeous burger and a wrap. Lots of leftovers to take home! Next time I'lol probably split a plate. If you want a Reuben sandwich where the toast is soaked in sauerkraut water then you are at the right place. They used to have corn bread which was a nice size square with browned crust, very nice. But now they have mini muffin cups that are not cooked enough and they have the nerve to charge the same price. I have never had a meal at Macky's where I have walked away thinking, wow that was a good meal. They add charge for anything different and when you finally get the bill after a mediocre meal it's just a very unsatisfying experience. read more
