James Mackman is an arborist, not a guy who comes in with a chainsaw and hacks up your trees. He knows his stuff, and it's clear he loves trees and loves his work. He came out for a free estimate, and the work was done the next day. He pruned our Japanese maples and they look beautiful! His services are reasonable in price, and with his expertise, we are surprised he doesn't charge more. They did an excellent job cleaning up after the work was done, which we always appreciate. We have used him a few times now and have been more than satisfied with the work. He is professional, prompt, and personable. He has taught us a lot as he always explains what he recommends and why. I can't say enough good about these guys! Great work!!! My yard has trees covering over it like a canopy snd preventing any sunlight. They showed up and started working. About 3 hours or so they were done and my yard had sun and looked great! Trees looked great and healthy. They even helped me figure out why my lawn wasn't growing and how I could fix it. Dauki, is the worst tree service guy I've ever had to deal with. I looked at his reviews and he has 5 stars, which i can't believe. If he keeps doing business like he did for me, he's going to hurt this company. He gave me an estimate and he never did what he said he was going to do. He gave me a price to sell the job... and never finished what he told me... I asked him to trim the mulberry tree and take down the branches down so I can manage the tree myself. When he and his girlfriend said, "I'm done" I told him I what happened to cutting the bigger limbs so i can manage it myself" ? He said, "I had a long day and was tired... if i said that, im sorry... He said, I can cut those bigger branches, but it's going to cost another $200.00 more and you have to haul the bigger branches away. This is what we agreed the first time w/o the extra $200.00. Lastly, he said, "If you don't want to listen to me I'm done w/you". When he finished half of the tree he said, "I'm not leaving here until I get paid and I only accept cash because im tired of getting SCREWED". In the beginning I told him I would give him a ck and he said, "Thats fine". I gave him half of what he told me in cash and he told me, "I'll be here tomorrow to finsh". He never showed up, so i called him. He said, "I had a long week and was tire. I'l be back on Monday to finish shredding". I guess he subbed out the shredding out to Emanuel's tree service, so i paid him the other half of the invoice. I hv been texting him and Emanuel for my invoices and i have not received anything from anyone. The last call i had w/Dauki i asked him for my invoice and when was he going to finish. He said, "I saved your life from climbing the ladder... your wife was shaking at the door when I was talking to her because she thought you were going to fall". My wife called and left him a message telling him, "I never was shaking, we only talked about giving us an estimate". I told him I'll give him a ck after he was done, then he said he only accepts cash. (He only accepts cash to pay his employees He told me and my wife he would give a receipt to who ever paid him. I was surprised to see them show up without masks during Covid. I stayed inside while they did their work. It was ok, I don't think it was worth $800 it looks messy with branches just half cut here and there. I also had a rope swing attached to the tree which they just cut down without asking us. I feel like they were in a rush to get out of here. They seemed knowledgeable about trees but the work did not reflect the same knowledge. I would not recommend them. read more

James and his crew came out and pruned 2 citrus trees for me. I like the fact that before they start pruning he lets me know how and why he needs to prune a certain way. My Orange tree was very thick and full of dead and dried up branches and the oranges this year were not as sweet. After the pruning it looks wonderful! Looking forward to next years oranges. He and his crew took out two nuisance trees that were in a very bad place, between my house and the neighbors' fence, trimmed two huge palm trees, and took out two large sagos. I had 2 large overgrown amber trees. I had concerns about the limbs hanging over my roof, plus the season fall mess created by the spikey balls and excessive leaves. We were beyond satisfied with Mackman's tree service. James, his partner and their entire crew are very hard workers and left our backyard very clean. Our backyard is close to 1/4 acre and we had multiple stumps and bushes that needed to be grinded out as well as tree removals and pruning. Today SUCKED on so many levels! sounded like the roof caved in on my house when my tree fell! Thank God it didn't damage the roof, or break any windows. I desperately started calling tree removal companies trying to find someone to help. I called Charles Schwab's Tree Service Inc. They were booked solid and couldn't help me. Not even 20 mins later, I received a call from Mackman's Tree Care. He said that the lady from Charles Schwab referred him to me. She went out of her way to help a stranger that was having a bad day. I was so touched, I called and thanked her. They were there shortly and removed the tree. Both of these companies were amazing. I had to give them a shout out ! I hired Mackmans Tree Care to pull out a few smaller trees, trim trees, shrubs, and tall oleanders. Then later I hired them again to pull up the oleanders and stump their roots (along with other roots of trees and shrubs). James and Dauki (& their crew) initially did a great job for a very good price. And later, when they stumped the various roots--again, they did an excellent job. Also, when two of those oleanders (I had 7-9 oleander tall bushes) started to sprout again--Mackman Tree Care kept their word and "nipped them in the bud" and retreated the area to avoid further growth. BTW, they are very careful to use non-poisonous ways to kill roots to safeguard pets and humans/kids (only using stronger chemicals when proven necessary). I highly recommend this company. read more
