The first couple times I went here, I really like the food etc. But, have been here twice recently and the food was marginal. I had mac n cheese which I had before and was good. I've been coming here since they opened a few years ago and they never disappoint! Their menu is eclectic...there is something for everyone! What they do, they do extremely well! Having the "boom boom shrimp" and the Caprese salad (off the summer menu) and a dirty martini with blue cheese olives, done to perfection by Heather! The staff is friendly and the patrons feel like neighbors. This is not a "bar experience," but elevated dining in a pub setting. The original bar was built some 20 years ago by a local carpenter with an Irish Pub motif. The interior is beautiful, the beers on tap are ever changing, but the food and waitstaff are consistently perfection. I love this place! read more

We've stopped in twice - once for my birthday easier in the test and once a few weeks ago with our friends for an early lunch. Both times the service was excellent. Our first visit we had steaks and crab cakes which were excellent. Steaks cooked nicely, crab cakes tender and moist. We tried the truffle fries but weren't a fan of the earthy flavor. The tiny potatoes are to die for and so are the coconut shrimp. The second time we ordered mostly had appetizers. Our friends had the lobster bisque, buffalo cauliflower, and the peel & eat Shrimp. They loved everything. We had the Lone Star burger, chicken tenders, two side ceaser salads, and the coconut shrimp again. Our server was friendly and attentive but didn't rush us at all. We hung out for a bit chatting and we never wanted for another drink or water. The only thing I'd want them to consider updating is the use of plastic, I'm fine asking for no straw but if the process is to put them in every drink, please choose a compostable one and switch to compostable take out containers. read more

Barely okay. I ordered a $15 "grilled chicken pasta" dish that turned out to be mostly watery cheese sauce with some sad noodles and a tiny chicken breast on top... definitely not what I was expecting for the price! Panera Mac and Cheese is comparable to this, but with thicker sauce and for less than half the price.... my boyfriend got the burger, it was mediocre. The food came out very quickly but because of the quality this didn't impress me. We saw our server twice the whole night, once when she took our order and once when she came back with the bill. It wasn't very busy, so not sure what the issue was. This was our first time trying Mackle's and unfortunately probably our last. There are better restaurants in the area where you can really get a bang for your buck instead of feeling ripped off. read more

LeRoy: The freshwater perch was as fresh as if you just pulled them out of the stream. The carrot cake was right out of heaven. And the company I had to keep was superb! Katie: The lobster bisque was phenomenal and cheesy. The sweet potato fries and boom boom shrimp was 10/10 would recommend. Caitlin: The calamari was crispy and delicious! The side of mac and cheese seemed big enough for an entree - and it was creamy and had a great flavor! The carrot cake definitely was right out of heaven - I think angels descended on a cloud to drop it off at our table. On top of that, the environment is nice, the staff is always pleasant and if you're lucky your table will be visited by the owner, Joe. My fiance and I have been here a handful of times, overall we have been impressed. I do think this is a restaurant that does not get the crowd it deserves, but most people who do not live in the area don't even know the place exists. Food and drinks are good, drinks are a tad on the expensive side. However, our visit over the weekend left us unimpressed. We wanted to stop in for a drink and sat at the bar. I'm not sure if it was because we sat behind the taps and were hard to see, but we had to ask for everything ourselves. If we were hard to see, then there shouldn't be seats there. First, we asked if they could change the channel to the Red Wings game, the bartender changed it to hockey, but didn't pay attention that it was a completely different game. Then we asked for a menu so we could get an appetizer, he handed it to us, then walked away, yet not asking us if we wanted a drink. Finally, about five minutes later and asked if we wanted a drink. Received our drinks, placed our appetizer order, and watched the hockey game on our phone since the bartender wouldn't stay at the end of the bar we were sitting at for more than he had to. It seemed like he was putting most of his attention to the other side of the bar. I had to ask for another drink, even though my glass was empty when he handed us our food. He was not personable at all, and did not act like he valued us as customers. He was not rude, just not overly involved. We had to ask for our bill, as we were ready to leave since we did not feel our business was being appreciated at all. It was as if the bar was busy, but it was not. I'm pretty disappointed, because a manager or owner was there also, behind the bar at times, and paid no attention to most of the customers either. It seems like they pay most of their attention to regulars that frequent the restaurant often. I'm not completely writing Mackle's off, but if service like this continues, that will most likely happen. I've never been blown out of the water impressed with the place, but have never received the poor service like we did the other night. I hope that they can value every customer and give them the attention they deserve as patrons. read more

My first experience was a carryout order containing (2) Steak tip salads. I requested (1) without the fried onions. When we arrived home with our order, BOTH salads were made w/o onions. Not a huge deal, but for a $16 dollar salad with limited ingredients I expect to get what I order. We did call and notify the restaurant. Their solution was for us to drive back to the store and pick up the fried onions. Yep. They said that. A few weeks later my wife and I were in the area shopping and decided to give them one more shot. We placed the same carryout order as before, however this time we were asked how we wanted our steak tips cooked (we were not asked this the first time). I requested mine "rare" and my wife's "well done". Both steaks were rare (see pic). My wife had to microwave hers to cook it the rest of the way. Not going to give them a 3rd chance. I would give this place a zero if possible. 1.) if an entire section of your establishment is still wearing their winter jackets while eating is a clear sign customer service is lacking. Roughly 5 tables not including my own (which I wore my coat) were wearing jackets because this place was freezing. 2.) service was a joke, had to ask someone to bring our bill, and flag down the staff for additional drinks. They had enough staff to accommodate the floor at least 5 servers, the manager and the bar tenders were all visible and we went during a non peak time. So there is no excuse way service was brutal. 3.) the food took over 40 minutes to get to our table (2 meals sandwich and fish and chips) both served cold when they should of been warm shows they were sitting in the kitchen, or the fact this restaurant can't afford to turn on the heat just yet. 4.) food was terrible, no flavor. Hospitals have better food. I don't write many reviews, especially bad ones, this experience was so awful I had to. It was just gross no other works to describe it. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE- Mackle's Tables and Taps owner has attitude and is rude to customers. My friend and I were banned for questioning charge of $1.99 on my bill. The waitress asked me if I wanted the cheese sauce with the pretzel bites and I said no I have a dairy allergy. My friend said she would eat it. The waitress never said it was an add on or additional charge. When the bill came, there was a $1.99 charge for the cheese sauce on MY bill. I explained to waitress that she didn't inform me of that. She went to the owner who approached the table and the first words out of his mouth was 'all this over $1.99?'. Despite his attitude I respectfully explained what happened. He asked didn't we see it on the menu. I told him no. I didn't initially order the cheese sauce due to my allergy. The waitress asked if I wanted it after I ordered the pretzel bites. I said no and my friend said she would eat it as we assumed it came with it. She never said there was an up charge. My friend said she would pay for it since she ate it. He then said he would take it off of my bill and put it on my friends bill and don't come back. My family and I eat there about once a week. The owner always comes over to make sure the food is good and make small talk. As often as I eat here and thought so highly of the owners, I was really surprised by his behavior. BEWARE!!! Waitress also gave us copy of someone else's bill/receipt with last four digits of credit card on it. Hmmm. They must have been having a bad day and took it out on us. read more

I am so grateful this place has stayed open for take out only. A friend and I finally got away for the evening and thought we'd try to find outdoor dining. Every place in Brighton was PACKED! No way we were putting ourselves at risk in those crowds so we started heading towards Hartland. We placed our order from the parking lot for our favorite appetizers to share. The Brussels never disappoint, the Buffalo cauliflower is amazing and the steak tips are always perfect! We also got the yummy truffle fries. Our order was ready very quickly and brought right out to our car. We headed back home and enjoyed our food on my deck around the fire. It was a perfect evening! It is a smaller restaurant so if you have a large party and plan on going right during rush hour even on the weekdays I would call ahead or make a reservation. Husband loves the IPA of the month, kids love the huge yummy chicken tenders and their fries are SO good! Pulled Bacon and Mac and Cheese is awesome and worth the price!! I liked this place. They had a good selection of beer and drinks but the menu was limited. My husband on the other hand was not impressed. I got the Black and Bleu burger. It was damned good. I was able to substitute chips for broccoli and it was a great choice. My husband got the short rib tacos. He said it was good and he liked the meat but was not impressed with the pricing or the atmosphere and I was not either. It felt like it was trying to hard to be booshie.
