We have to give a huge shoutout to Savannah! Our group of 12 walked in just 10 minutes before closing after a high school graduation, and she didn't miss a beat. She seated us, took our orders, served us, and bussed the table -- basically running the whole show herself -- all with the warmest smile and the most gracious attitude. She was kind, thoughtful, incredibly efficient, and made every single one of us feel completely welcome, not like the late-night table nobody wants. My small cobb salad was too large for the soup dish it was served in. I could not stir the dressing around, but it was delicious. We had a small pepperoni pizza for $15. I ordered on Yelp for my wife and me. Her flatbread was fine. She likes them. We also ordered the pretzel and cheese appetizer. It came with four pretzel sticks and one cheese. We've ordered it a couple of times before, and it came with two cheeses. One is not enough for four sticks. If we stopped there, this would be a three-star review. But I ordered the baked ziti with sausage. It was very dry, the sauce was nowhere to be found, and the sausage was interesting. I had to dig through the ziti and found 6 half-moon, quarter-size pieces of sausage that were so thinly sliced they were nearly missed. They were pathetic. I was expecting these sausage chunks, but no, whatever this was ... well, my dogs enjoyed them. I ate a few bites and the dogs are looking forward to an $18 treat tomorrow. Sad. read more

We have been here more than any other local food location. Pros: Great pizza (Hot Hawaiian especially), good sized kids portions, Nice variety of items, nice decor, their app for points is nice too, great burgers (but $17? ) & the sandwich is SO much better tasting than you'd ever think! But they also give about 2 slices of turkey in the whole darn thing! Pfffft! The chips it comes with semi make up for it though. Sometimes. Cons: The service is iffy most times (unless you have Kari or Riley as they are always their sweet selves & get the job done also. , the air vents in the bathroom make me want to cry or clean them, they no longer have good fries & though I recommend this place to many regardless of anything, I don't recommend their take out. What happened?! I've long considered MacKenzie River a favorite restaurant, but have been out of state a few years and was super excited to order dinner from them last night. It was sadly a huge mistake. The lodge poles were so doughy and undercooked that the cheese wasn't fully melted on them and I had to bake them myself. The "oven baked" chicken alfredo tasted like a bad microwaved frozen dinner and had clearly not been finished up in the oven, which wouldn't have mattered because they didn't top it with any cheese to be crisped up anyway. The quality of ingredients was terrible and our whole meal was lackluster and gave airport food vibes. How sad to see an iconic montana restaurant fall so far. read more

We live in Belgrade, MT and have always loved Bozeman and Belgrade's McKenzie River Pizzas. We were traveling with friends to Glacier National Park. Told them let's grab a McKenzie River pizza because they are delicious and we know what we're getting . Traveled 20 miles out of our way. We ordered in house to take back to the airbnb. When we opened the box Of pizza , only to find they left out more than half the toppings and the pizza was horrible. My family enjoyed MacKenzie River Pizza Co so much that on Monday we ate at the one in Whitefish and Friday we ate the one in Kalispell. At both locations the pizza was great! At Whitefish we had the Rancher and it was so yummy. In Kalispell we had the BBQ and the flavors blended perfectly. We also enjoyed the Doc Holliday dessert and if I hadn't been so full I would have ate a second one. The reason I would pick Kalispell location over Whitefish was the excellent service in Kalispell. This past weekend I hosted a rehearsal dinner at this location. We had 65 people attend. I was absolutely delighted with the entire process of hosting at MRP. The staff, which consisted of the manager on site, Savannah, and 2 additional servers, were over and above friendly and helpful from start to finish. They helped me decorate as well as box up the decorations when the event ended. They constantly checked on guests, and quickly served drinks or food when requested. They were all so kind as to check on me, the host, several times offering to make me a plate, or refill my drink. We chose a buffet menu, which was delicious and everyone raved about. Everything came out fresh out of the oven, and if anything ran low, they quickly added more. I would 100% recommend this location to anyone needing to host an event. I can honestly say every person was impressed and left with full stomachs! read more

Normally I love MacKenzie River, but this location has slow and terrible service. I understand when it's busy there's going to be a slight wait to be seated and also take a little while longer to get our food, but it shouldn't take 20 min to process our bill at the end of the night, especially when the restaurant was no longer busy and basically half empty by then. The servers also need to pay more attention to detail and know their menu better than the customer. My wife ordered a salad and we didn't realize there was a small and large size. Thus we never specified a size and the server never asked, so we were surprised when a tiny chicken salad was brought out when we were expecting an entree size portion, which is apparently the large for $2 more! We would've ordered that one had we known there were different sizes! While I would visit MacKenzie River again in the future, I would not recommend this location! read more

I ordered food for pickup tonight and could not have been more disappointed. My wife has gluten intolerance so I ordered the gluten free, cajun chicken penned. The portion size would not have fed a toddler. The pasta was horribly cooked. There was virtually no sauce and there was a grand total of three tiny pieces of sausage. It felt like they repackaged someone else's leftovers. I also ordered Lodgepole with marinara sauce. There was no marinara and nearly 50% of the bread sticks had no cheese. Reading the other reviews I was really looking forward to Mackenzie River pizza. Super disappointed. I called in my order. The person taking my order said they were really busy, so come in 35 minutes. So I was there in 40 minutes. The pizza was not ready but I was told it won't be much longer. Waited 30 minutes and checked. It was still "not much longer". Thirty more minutes, I checked again. They looked all over, in the warming cabinet. On the pizzas just out of the over. Then they found it on top of the oven. I asked, "how long has it been out?" No idea. Long enough to be cold. Did they remake it? Offer to remake it? Nope The pizza was cold and not good cold. Room temperature cold where the cheese is gelled. The veggies are soggy. Not appetizing at all. Also ordered the chicken chili. It is very good. Flavorful with just a little spice. However we were waiting for our first order for over an hour and a half and when it came out it was wrong so we sent it back to the kitchen and had to wait another 45 minutes for the second order. They were slow, yet friendly and helpful. Other reviews said they are short staffed so we expected a longer wait and that helped us prep the kiddos. All of our food was good - pizza, salads, drinks. Ingredients seemed fresh and prepared well -salads were standard mid range family restaurant fare. Pizza toppings were super yummy, they didn't skimp. I'm in town for work and I got in late my first night here, ran an errand, & decided I needed food. Not a lot of options for 9:30. I see this place was still open & I head over & get seated at the bar. It's a Saturday and it's packed but the bar tenders are hopping. Everyone's getting served. I order a drink, a meal, and an hour & $21 later I'm leaving happy & full. When I had a day off last Friday, again, I decide to stop by again for dinner. Sat at the bar and ordered food & drink. Signs everywhere this time apologizing for decreased hours due to being short-staffed. I think it's great they're prioritizing their employees over their customers in this way. Bar was busy as one would expect. But when I left I had a ton of leftovers and I was happy & full. Off today as well and I just might pop on over and order for takeout. We used McKenzie river pizza company for our rehearsal dinner, which was a casual affair. We ordered pasta, salads, pizza, wings, and sandwiches. There was some thing for everyone. I appreciated the variety in food, but also the presentation. Specifically, the salads were delicious and included numerous Salad dressings to meet everyone's needs. Each item I tried was delicious and fresh. I really enjoyed the pizza with the cherries on it for a unique local flavor. We will be back. read more

I placed an order online said it would be ready at 811 pm, I got there at 812 pm and they had not started on it yet, they told me 10 more minutes it took 20 minutes. The waiters looked like they were working hard, but the young men in the kitchen were horsing around whole time. I got the food and it was weak at best and pricey for the amount. while I was there a lady also picking up had to wait and her order it was messed up so they said they were remaking it...... This is a tough review. The service was poor . The restaurant was understaffed . The wait time was an hour for a group of seven . After we were seated , the waitress apologized for the wait. She next took our drink orders . When she brought the drinks she took our order. I ordered a large Cobb salad with a small bowl of Buffalo chili. My wife ordered the Greek salad Ana my son ordered a large ceasar salad with chicken. The other guests orders A bowl of Buffalo chili, a bowl of chicken chili, a flat bread sandwich, a small huckleberry salad and another salad. Our waitress checked on drinks and gave us a status of our meals. When the food arrived were pleasantly surprised by the portion size. The large salads were larger than expected. The small soup was the size of a regular size soup at other restaurants. The food quality was excellent. The flatbread order arrived 10+ minutes later than the other meals. The waitress apologized and comped us the flatbread. The waitress accidentally brought out chicken tortilla soup instead of chicken chili. The service was poor but the food quality was good. We may return if we have plenty of time and patience. If the service was good or at least acceptable the rating would be a high 4 star read more

Dining at Mackenzie River Pizza in Kalispell was warranted, we thought, due to the recommendations of past visitors. The decor is nice and the atmosphere fairly quiet. We went to the hostess desk and were met by a rather unfriendly girl who spoke one word, "Two?" and then sat us down without another word. She greeted everyone in the 45 minute period we were by the desk the same way. But a shining star was our server, Contessia. She seemed to be bombarded with tables but she was friendly, happy, and very pleasant. I ordered a Bloody Mary and I have to say it was in the top 5 worst Bloody Mary's I have ever had in my years. I couldn't even finish it. My wife ordered the Caesar salad and it was prepared well and was tasty. I ordered the Wedge salad and it was enormous and very good. We had for our entrees, the Humble Pie pizza with Fontina, olive oil, and garlic as well as the Pesto Linguine with chicken. Both were excellent and the pasta was one of the best pesto's I have tasted. All in all, not bad but I would hesitate to visit again soon. read more
