Arrogant, Erratic, Unprofessional This doctor is all over the map with his treatments. After some years and numerous attempts, he could only get me minimum relief. Dr. Mack prescribed a protocol for druy eye disease, but refused to answer questions about the medications being prescribed. He chastises you if you decline to do or purchase anything he recommends. Dr. Robert Mack is not only thorough, but explains conditions and treatments through understandable means. His direct manner of stating what he feels needs to be done is refreshing. He lays out a plan of action for himself and for me. He is respectful and considerate of my questions as well. His office staff is superb in their direction and follow-through of all things, from greeting, scheduling, answering questions, and providing necessary digital/paperwork, while always being pleasant and attentive. my husband was told he has glaucoma and dry eyes so bad he hast to have four drops a day and told to wear special glasses for Parkinson's!!! we did not feel this was right so we went for a second opinion and one drop every night and has had no problems. I think Dr.Mack should not group all Parkinson's patients together! Some are not as bad as others just and do not need the same thing! very unhappy with him!! read more

this is the most poorly ran medical practice I've ever experienced in my life. I was referred by my primary care doctor here. It took six attempts to get someone on the phone to make a new patient appointment. No one ever answers the phone. I left messages every single time, and they would call back at a time, not convenient for me and when I would return the call within 30 minutes of them, calling me, the same thing I would, never get a human and resort to leaving another message. Once I finally got into practice, I realized while in the waiting room, the phone never rang. Not once. Clearly answering patient calls is not their priority and they will call when they feel it's convenient for them. Once I got to my appointment, I was taken back 30 minutes late. Got the eyedrop for dilation did all of that and then they put me back in the waiting room. 20 minutes later was put into another room to wait for the doctor. at this point, I think I was reacting poorly to the eyedrop's. I have now at this point been in the office for an hour and a half. I also noticed in the doctors room that there was a sign to please allow up to two hours for your appointment so that the doctor may see emergencies as needed. This information was not given to me when booking the appointment and I had another appointment to make. I also started feeling terrible and reacting negatively to the eyedrop. I was dizzy nauseous had a headache and extreme pressure building in the back of my skull and Upper neck. At this point, I went into the hall to seek a nurse and let her know that I was not feeling well Was reacting poorly to the drops and having a lot of symptoms, and also that I only had 30 minutes before I had to leave to get to my next appointment. The nurse said that I was up next to go back into the room and be patient. I did just that and within 10 minutes I was feeling so bad that I just needed to lay down and could not even hold my head up anymore. No one ever came to check on me at any point during this hour and 40 minutes that I was in the office. I could also hear the nurse outside of the room. Just sit back down and continue her conversation conversation with another coworker. She did not go to inform anyone that I wasn't feeling well. I could also hear the nurse outside of the room. Needed to find my elderly Mother a new eye Dr last year. Dr Mack and his staff have been doing a wonderful job. She goes often because she has an on going eye issue that needs regular attention. She arrived today for her appt. The first Dr appt of the new year 2022. The staff informed her she had to pay her deductible being its a new year. What? She has both Medicare and a supplemental insurance. She does not have to pay deductibles being that she has the two insurances. They insisted. She left. She called me. I called the office and tried to get them to understand they were mistaken. They refused to hear what I was saying. They kept saying it was policy. Looking for a new Eye Dr. BE CAREFUL with them regarding billing. I have also contacted Medicare. They are going to look into this Dr and their practices for billing. I was correct according to Medicare that the Dr office should not be collecting her deductible or any other patient's deductible if they have secondary/supplement insurance. What a shame. Dr Mack appears to be a good eye Dr but questionable billing practices. Looking forward to seeing what Medicare comes up with their investigation. read more

Blamed me for continued eye problems when I followed all instructions given from Dr Mack. I was diagnosed and treated for only 5 weeks with AK, & put on a slew of different medications. Dr Mack referred me to my current cornea specialist who not only cured me of my AK, but gave me FAR SUPERIOR care. Dr Mack is a lot of talk and achieved very minimal results. After calling 5 ophthalmologists in the area, explained to them my condition. None had appointments nor would accept my insurance. Searched and found Dr. Mack online, I called and explained my condition to his staff. I told him the insurance I had in which he normally doesn't take. The staff said please hold, when they got back on the phone they told me to come in right now. I went in and found out I was diagnosed with Glaucoma and Ocular emergency. I was told (in February) that he was in the Hoffman Estates Office ONE Friday a Month (the only day that I can do)....My appointment has now been canceled several times (Well beyond any Covid-19 restrictions)....but to suit the convenience of the Dr.'s schedule...Now my June appointment is canceled & nobody is even sure that he wants to bother appearing the Office during any July Fridays....This is absolutely awful service from someone that's expected to be professional....His schedule is NOT any more important that ours (The Patient)... read more

I was referred to Dr. Robert Cinefro from my regular eye doctor, Dr. Mark Rosanova. This practice was really nice. It is a newer building and it makes the experience even better that it is a very beautiful facility. Dr. Cinefro was super nice. I really liked him and his staff -who were also very friendly with me. They also have a big selection of glasses in house too and a person on staff to order you glasses. I was really pleased with my experience. I have a second appointment in a few weeks and am actually EXCITED to go -Dr. Cinefro is helping me get my dry eyes healed and back into contact lenses! Great practice, highly recommended! read more

I found Dr Mack due to an emergency. the retina in my right eye detached in september and i was in the office an hour after i called. dr Mack got me into Wheaton eye center for an appointment with a specialist and I had eye surgery the next day. The office has been nothing but professional and they don't stand for any bad customer service issues. i have been back for glasses and the office is immaculate and everyone wears PPE so I feel safe. It wasn't until I got up to ask what was going on, did they realize the forgot about me. Team Mack is professional, understanding and friendly. I had cataract surgeries over the course of two months. The surgeries are commonplace but for me I was anxious. COVID being what it is created some of the anxiousness. Team Mack is knowledgeable and follows the CDC imposed COVID requirements. None of us are happy with all regulations but if this is required to receive excellent care, it works for me. I could not be happier with my choice for an ophthalmologist. I really am not sure why Dr. Mack is outdated on his treatment of dry eye. I had to go to another eye doctor who really got this condition under control for me. He diagnosed me correctly, but was insensitive and never offered me some of the medicines that relieve it like Restasis or procedures that others offer. His treatment of cold compresses alone are outdated and don't work....did he really think I didn't try that before scheduling an appt. read more

Stay far away from this place! Dr Robert Mack will take you for all your money. We went to this eye doctor for eye exams and glasses. He conducted an unusual amount of tests. He ran up bills for my wife and I that were over $1000 on just tests. I have never had that happen before. His office attempted to make my glasses three times and each time I couldn't see out of them. The optician there mentioned that they had made mistakes in the measurements and even one time used the wrong prescription. After that they gave up and said we can't help you. Please go somewhere else to get your glasses. But they still stuck us with the bills and we had nothing to show for it. Soon afterwards we found a new eye doctor that agreed that the test Dr Mack ran were not necessary and were easily fitted with glasses without any hassle and exorbitant fees. read more

Dr. Mack is wonderful and has helped to improve my dry eye condition. I have visited 11 other eye doctors, and none were able to improve my dry eye. I was in terrible pain, and it was negatively affecting my quality of life. Dr. Mack provided me with a daily regimen that has helped me improve so that I am much more comfortable and able to function much better in my daily life. (My eyes are not cured, but there is no cure for dry eye - still, they are much better.) Dr. Mack tailors his treatment to the individual, and he is also very kind. I was even able to get back into daily contact lenses for special occasions, which I never thought would happen. I'm so glad I came to the right place by going here. The ladies at the front desk are great, and also the ladies who do the glasses are wonderful. (I purchased dry eye barrier goggles from them.) My son sees Dr. Saiyed who took the time to figure out what was going on and established an effective treatment plan. July 2020 was my first visit and everything went smoothly. Dr. Mack suggested Cataract surgery to help with my vision. September 2020 had my right eye surgery and WOW what a difference I could see so bright and vivid colors and my distant vision was improved dramatically. October 2020 had my left eye surgery and again WOW what an improvement. The day after surgery I went to my computer to work . I put my glasses on and everything was blurry. I thought what the heck is going on here. I took my glasses off and my vision to read off the computer was clear as day. No glasses for the first time in over 20 years. I rarely left negative feedback on a service but I compelled to do so for this place. The one star rate is for the lousy staff performance at this office. I like the doctor but will not go here due to unprofessional staff conducts. I was here last week to have my tests for a cataract surgery. The woman who ran my tests was rude & unfriendly. She did the entire process of several tests without smiling and much of conversing or explanation as what they were for, just told me "put your forehead here, read this, etc." and was unwillingly to repeat questions when I couldn't hear her clearly. Then dr Mack came in at the end, he was nice, he explained the test results and what to expect ahead. Before he left he said "can you keep your contacts off for a week to ready for next step". Then his assistant played a short video and told me to go to the front desk to get more information about the surgery and schedule the dates for next procedures. When I got to the front desk I was told by the receptionist that she doesn't know what procedure to schedule me next. She used the words "I guess your next procedure is pupil dilation.." She GUESSED? She said the office staff who was supposed to handle my file had left for the day and no one in the office knows for sure what she supposed to give to me (what?) when I insisted that she asked another person, she had a woman from another room come out. Who went off somewhere supposedly "looking for my file". She then came back saying "I am not exactly sure, but I think you need to make appointment for measurement and you need to take your contacts off for 2WEEKS" I told her the dr just told me ONE WEEK, and I told her to ask the assistant who came with dr Mack to talk to me, she waved her hand in the air and stated "She doesn't know anything" WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THIS OFFICE? the left hand sure doesn't know what the right hand do. I now will go to another Ophthalmologist to have my surgery done. Within my first call, the other dr office filled me in with so much information about everything step by step what I can need to know about the procedure. They also told me that if I wore soft contacts, I only need to take it off for 3days, not 2 weeks like the Mack Eye Center told me. I will never go back to this place again. It was one of the worst services I have ever received. It was unprofessional, unorganized, uncaring. The people who worked there need more training. there's no way I will entrust my healthcare in the hands of such a lousy group. When I called back today to cancel my upcoming appt, the receptionist cut me off when was telling her the reason why I canceled and will not come back there. She said "ok ok.." like she doesn't care to know the reason. So rude! I hope Dr Mack realize that his poorly conducted staff is hurting his business relationship with patients. What an amazing center and staff! My son had an eye injury at school and one other eye doctor could not see him for 2 months and they could care less. Then I called Dr. Mack's office and they were able to see him right away and told me to come in. Dr. Mack was so professional, understanding and reassuring and its nice to know that there are doctors who still genuinely care about their patients. I cannot say enough about Dr. Mack and his staff and the entire office in general. I brought my elderly father there in an emergency situation last March and he had a cornea transplant in June 2019. This has been a long process, but Dr. Mack has been outstanding. We have had many visits there over the past 8 months and drive very far to see Dr. Mack but it is well worth it. Dr. Mack has been professional and patient with my father. He answered all of our questions and addressed our concerns each time we were there. My father received excellent care and is healing well currently. I would highly recommend Dr. Mack and his office for any eye issues and especially a cornea specialty case for sure. read more

I highly recommend Dr Mack , however, the manager for the office needs to be replaced immediately. I drove over 35 minutes to get there for my appointment that had been rescheduled 3 prior times due to Covid . It's a very difficult building to find and I accidentally passed it by , only to realize I was going way too far . After pulling over , and doing a U-turn , I ended up arriving 15 minutes late and the manager wouldn't allow me to see the Dr and said I needed to reschedule.Those at the check-in area did all they could to explain what happened, but the manager was completely unwilling to allow me to keep my appointment . The waiting room was totally empty ! I also have other family members that see Dr Mack on a regular basis , but this current manager refused to accommodate me and definitely needs to be replaced! She will undermine this awesome Dr's practice if kept there. If I had taken my 94 year old dad for his appointment and was turned away like I was today , I would've been livid ! So, arrive way early like I have done in the past and also be prepared to wait to be seen for a long time like what has happened to me in the past as well . One time I had a 40 minute wait !
