I have been going to Emily for a few years after reading stellar yelp reviews. Emily is the BEST and a rockstar at hair. She's a professional, and so fun to talk to. I highly recommend her. I've gone to a couple other stylists in Chicago due to location and I completely regretted it. I always go back to Emily! I'm hooked! Cut or color, I'm a happy client. read more

I just got my haircut by Amanda and it was nothing short of amazing. She listened to what I wanted, gave her suggestions, and then cut my hair like no one else ever could. I've been to many different hair salons and this, by far, has been the best experience. I'm getting married in 4 months and now I have the perfect cut for my big day. Thank you Amanda!!! read more

Couldn't be happier!! Gail gave me a beautiful cut & equally as beautiful color. I will be back for sure!

This place is the best in the business. The people, atmosphere, and talent are amazing. Make sure you ask for "Dave"! Dave is an incredible stylist, and always is a pleasure to speak with. He is a true professional and should be your 1st request when making your appointment! Super consistent and accurate to your requests, and always willing to share his great styling ideas if you ask his opinion. My wife loves my hair since I have been going to Dave at MacDaddy! Great place and great experience all around! read more

It has been 2 months since my highlight and cut by Nelson and my friends and family ask if I just had my hair cut. His cut is amazing as well his choice of perfect highlight colors that are not over the top. he takes his time and even weeks later the shape is still strong. This is the first place in years that I can delay going in because my cut looks fresh months later. God bless those talented hands! read more

Macdaddy is a great salon! I love the atmosphere and everyone is always so nice and welcoming. Dave is awesome! I've been going to him for over 2 years and he always does a great job. He does what you ask but will also come up with great changes if you are looking for something new but not sure what. He's great at both color and cuts. I won't be going anywhere else to get my hair done. read more

The last few times I've needed a haircut, I've gone to MacDaddy. Upon my first appointment, the man who washed it beforehand gave me the most amazing scalp massage. Nelson, the salon owner, cut my hair superbly. I have thin, mostly straight hair with a little wave. Nelson cut my hair to a chin length bob with beautiful layering. He understood my hair tends to flip out awkwardly on the ends (without me even telling him) and cut it accordingly to avoid the awkward flippage. He also recommended excellent volumizing products that were a little pricey, but worth it (and smelled deliciously of coconut). read more

Emily is the best stylist I've had in years! I haven't gone to the same stylist twice in over 10 years, but she broke my sad cycle. She is an expert at fantasy/fun dye jobs and knows how to cut different hair types. I've always been so happy with what she comes up with. And on top of it all, she is conscious of how much fun colors can cost and comes up with a way to make me happy and not kill my bank account. Highly recommend. Plus, the salon does $25 blowouts on Friday! What a steal!!! read more

What a great place to get your haircut. I'm recently new to MacDaddy and now I will be a long time customer. The place is clean and parking is so easy. Now to the real reasons this place is so awesome, THE STAFF. My new found stylist is Emily. She is awesome. Best haircuts I've received in months. Her attention to what I want and the detail that goes along with it is outstanding. Emily shows true skill and passion for cutting hair. It shows! The place is filled with the nicest staff I've come across in a while! Great job Emily and the rest of the ladies at MacDaddy! read more

Consistently good hair salon. I like the cuts and color I see around me. The store features a rotating art display of different contemporary artists. read more

Rula Rules! Best haircut in a decade. And I wasn't event there an hour. No question. I have found my perfect Chicago haircut, and I'm from this city. Professional support staff offer you a beverage at the beginning and make sure you know your stylist's schedule as you leave. read more

Because i was told by somebody who is in the know, I must disclose I'm an acquaintance of the salon owner. Nevertheless, I had a great haircut by a stylist named Dave. This was my first time in a salon vs the typical barbershop, and although i would have appreciated a few more magazines geared towards men with chest hair I had a great experience. Cool local art and loft decor too. read more

I've been going to MacDaddy for cut and color for a little while now. My first visit was with Gail and she blew me out of the water! Unfortunately, she's no longer there but I love love love Renee! Specifically, if you're looking for a balayage, you need to book yourself an appointment with her. She's sweet and easy to talk to, very much like the rest of the friendly staff! She can be busy so try to book in advance. read more

I have been going to MacDaddy for 5+ years! I always leave feeling super confident with new my haircuts/color. Even on days I don't do my hair I still get compliments on how amazing and perfect my hair is! Emily is very personable, professional and very knowledgable! It is a super convenient location with plenty of parking and lots of cute places around it to shop after and show off your new hair! Highly recommend! read more

UPDATE: I have shampooed my hair 3x now since the dye job and I am STILL staining my towels/robe/pillow cases. Absolutely ridiculous. My hotel just charged me for damaging their pillows. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO ELSEWHERE - ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

This salon gave me the worst hair cut I have ever received. Specifically the young lady named Amanda. For starters I go in there for a trim and came out looking like Ellen DeGeneres. I was having a fantastic day until my luscious head of hair was butchered by this woman. She has the AUDACITY to tell me that "at least I could donate It". Ma'am if I wanted to donate I could've shaved my head myself. I did not need an incompetent hair stylist to do It for me. 13/10 would NEVER come back here. I suggest everyone who reads this does the same. MIGHT I ADD that I nearly got my jugular cut by Amanda and would never trust her with a pair of scissors near my worst enemy. TERRIBLE service and TERRIBLE salon. 1 star is being generous. read more

I just did La Brasiliana and I LOVE IT! Renee knows my hair and felt that this would be a good product for me. My hair is so easy to fix now. It's smooth, silky and has so much shine. My blow dry time is cut in half. Renee is great and I would recommend her to anyone. She really pays attention to your specific needs and always makes me look better! read more

Found my new salon!! This place is great and the employees are so welcoming. Amanda has done my hair both times and she's awesome!! She gives me exactly want I want and I have gotten so many compliments on my hair!!! read more

I've been getting my Great Lengths hair extensions done at Macdaddy by for a year now and I LOVE THEM. Meghan is my stylist and she's great, (which makes the time go by fast). I'm so addicted, Great Lengths for life! Seriously, the salon is great, its clean and bright, the music is good and the staff is super nice. Love it there! read more

This salon is filled with incredible stylists and an amazing mani/pedi girl-Carol. I have followed her for years since I've never found anyone better! The stylists listen to their customers, so you can always be assured that you'll come away with what you had hoped for. The space is artsy and the music is great! read more

This salon is unfortunately very inconsistent. It always depends on the stylists they have on staff at the time. The one we enjoyed the most, Jennifer, was let go. At the time, when I called to book an appt, they told me that I should go with Stephanie because Jennifer no longer worked there. Stephanie's cut and color was below average. The cut was done so quickly, I felt like I was at the barber's. The color faded out of my hair in less than 2 weeks, showing all the gray underneath. I called to complain, but the owner and the stylist were so focused on profits and not at all on customer satisfaction, that they agreed to a recolor and then called back before the next appointment to ask for more money. I've never come across such pettiness in salon ownership. I've written a below average review of this salon's quality of work, customer satisfaction, and business practices, but I will continue to speak out in the Oak Park, Forest Park, and River Forest communities of my opinions that this salon is a sham. They can't keep good talent and they don't seem to understand how to maintain good client relations. read more

I have been going to Mac Daddy Salon for years. My stylist Meghan is fabulous and she recently told me about a treatment to help tame my curly/frizzy hair. The treatment is called La-Braziliana, and although it takes a while it is well worth it. Meghan put the treatment on and after a few days I rinsed it out and now my hair is SUPER shiny and SUPER manageable. It cut the time I spent blow drying and straightening in half!! We even recently tracked to Puerto Rico where it was a hit and humid 90 degrees and people were complimenting me on how nice my hair looked!! This service is well worth the price tag and it is almost $200 cheaper here then at other area salons!!! Do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Meghan to get it done!! read more

I have always been very particular with who/where I get my hair done. After being traumatized by a bad haircut when I was young I really need someone I can trust will do a fabulous job. At MacDaddy Salon I have found the place I will always turn to! The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing, and the music is always great. I have never had a bad experience there. I have been going to Macdaddy for two years now and have had my hair done by Stephanie, Meghan and Emily and all of them are wonderful! I highly recommend any one of them! Everyone at the salon is super friendly and I am so glad I found this place. Every time I receive a compliment on my hair or someone says they need a haircut, I recommend MacDaddy! read more

Just got my hair cut and colored by Renee at MacDaddy. This was a big change for me. Went from long hair to a pixie cut. I absolutely love it! This is the second haircut I have gotten from Renee and both were my best cuts ever! read more

Whoa, I just read a review about Dave regarding his giving a first-time visitor a middle-aged mom look. I myself am a middle-aged mom and have been getting color and cuts from Dave for several years now. He was trained by the brilliant Nelson, who has helped develop the Unite line of hair products. Dave gives amazing color and cuts that I can't get in the city or in South Bend where I work! In fact, right after I saw him last, I got asked for ID twice at restaurants because he had transformed my appearance to a much more youthful one. I love Macdaddy Salon and think it is well worth the trip to Forest Park (you can just hop on the Blue Line and make a short walk from the last stop). The staff are so kind and good. I always get taken care of right on time. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of services. It is now female-owned. She is a lovely, hardworking, and modest person who cares about excellence, and is a very skilled stylist herself. read more

For being a very picky girl about my hair, for a long time I never really found an amazing hair stylist that really drew me back. A lot of stylist are very friendly and personable, but they either just gave me a basic hair cut (which was usually what I asked for out of fear of them chopping it all off, but doesn't warrant anything special), or did something I really didn't ask for. A friend of mine recommended MacDaddy so I gave it a shot, and never want to go anywhere else! I only see Emily, so I can't speak for everyone, but they all do seem friendly, professional, and relaxed, all together a good vibe in the salon. As far as Emily's work, she has yet to disappoint me, always doing exactly what I ask for, or offering great advice. The final product always looks great, it's never something completely different than what we consulted about. I have pretty wild, thick hair which she manages to tame so well blowing it out, and with out the use of a flat iron! They also use these great Unite products that smell so good! My favorite is the 7 Seconds, it's a leave in conditioning spray. I honestly hate having to wash my hair two or even three days after I get it done. read more

Went to MacDaddy for the first time around Thanksgiving. I loved it. It's very chic and pretty. The staff is extremely friendly. Emily is my stylist ( I debated not using her name to make sure I don't have problems in the future getting an appointment!) and she is wonderful. She's warm and I always, ALWAYS leave loving my hair. I found my last stylist for the rest of my life. read more

I love this place. I get my hair cut and colored by Amanda and she always listens to exactly what I want and gives her opinion on it.I always walk out happy and confident. read more

Stephanie rocks! She always gives a consistent hair cut which is hard to find and gives you honest suggestions.

Whenever I'm back in Chicago from NYC I make sure I see Renee. She's a really great stylist and is fantastic with color. She knows what works and what doesn't with one on one consultations. I feel great every time I leave Mac Daddy's! read more

I have been going to the original MacDaddy since 1998. When they opened one in Forest Park, I was super excited and my hairstylist located to the Forest Park location. Roula has been doing my hair since day 1 of her career and she knows exactly my hair color, cut and how to style. I highly recommend Roula. She knows her color and how to cut and texturizing. I absolutely love the environment as well when you walk in the salon. Everyone is so inviting and always smiling. A big plus in Forest Park is MacDaddy . read more

I haven't been here yet, but I would follow Jennifer to the ends of the earth! Her assistant Michael is fabulous too!

All the stylists who work here are amazing. I get my haircut by Stephanie and my teen daugthers go to Emily. We LOVE the haircuts and styles. My girls have also gone to Emily for graduation, homecoming, prom etcc and the salon is lovely and the staff is great. I highly recommend this salon. We have been coming here for about 5 years and it rocks. read more

Emily is fantastic! Not only does my hair look great once it's cut, but it continues to look great as it starts to grow out as well. I have only had one other hairstylist who has been able to achieve this consistently. read more

Renee has been cutting my hair for a couple years now. I trust her with all decisions concerning my hair style. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to my hair style; Renee always manages to make my hair look fresh and current. My friend recommended her to me and I've never looked back (unless I'm looking at the rear of my head after Renee's finished cutting my hair). read more

I cant say enough about this fabulous place. Nelson is an incredible hairstylist. I have been following Nelson for over 12 years. He is the BEST!!!! He does my 3yr old daughters hair since her first cut, my husband, mom, dad, brother in-law just to name a few. Yes I refer whoever I can. Thanks Nelson! Thanks Mac Daddy! read more

I really like that I have a stylist that pays attention to what I tell her. She knows I don't like to spend a lot of time on my hair, notices the tendencies of my hair and makes recommendations for cuts and color that look best. Whenever I am fresh from a cut & color visit I get complimented on my hair. I would definitely recommend the stylist named Tracy Nero...she really is good and will tell you what cut/color/style best suits you... read more
