Thank you, Qiana, who scheduled me when I called at noon on a Sunday, quite desperate for a haircut prior to my first day of work! Qiana was so friendly and helpful. She said it was quite busy at that moment, but to come at 3:30. I was seen by stylist Eni who was marvelous. Eni took excellent care of me and I got the haircut I'd requested, showed her a photo of me 6 weeks ago after my last haircut. I have short hair with a slight wave, and Eni did a great job! I didn't need a wash, blow out, or product put in. Just the cut. For only $22, plus tip. I bought some product, too, for home use. I'll definitely be back. This was a great value and I got exactly what I came for. Free street parking on Sunday. I believe they take walk-ins, but on the weekend, at least, I'd suggest booking ahead as those two stylists were very busy and there were 3 more customers arriving as I left. As always, Qiana was able to execute the exact style and color I wanted. She managed to take her time and give me the personal, professional and friendly service I would want and expect especially on my birthday while having to handle other clients bc they are short staffed. I never felt forgotten, she checked in through out the whole process and when my lightening was not where it should have been, she asked me if I had time for another lightening because she knew it needed to be even lighter to have the color we created to really take. Wow, I cannot believe my experience. This was my third time and I will not be back. Stylist was Erica and she did an absolutely horrible job. I've never seen someone cut hair like she did and it was terrible. Also the workers were rude that day, chatting with each other instead of me. Very disappointed. Firstly, the entire shampoo, conditioner and haircut took 6 minutes! Literally, 6 minutes. Needless to say, the haircut was mediocre at best. Just a straight line across my daughter's back, I could have done the same. And in retrospect, I should have! The worst part is the manager tempted two double my price because my daughter had her hair "styled." I explained to him that there was no way I was going to pay for a style because the stylist simply turned on the hair dryer and ran her fingers through my daughter's hair two or three times. I asked The Stylist has stopped and directed at my daughter to the "free old school dryers." By definition, to style means to use a styling tool; Round brush, curling iron, flat iron take your choice. Fantastic Sams has definitely Seen the Last of Me and my family. I was there for 6 hours! I first had a consultation and a patch test. I asked for a salt and pepper hair color and cut. Qiana was respectful, kind and explained what she was doing. I spent $199.00, including her $20.00 tip. The outcome was my hair was cut and my hair color is Brown with Yellow highlights. She suggested that she can issue a refund, which she did. $22 spent with a $5 tip for an aggressive hair cut. The stylist was very rude from the beginning and I felt very uncomfortable the whole time- she was acting like it was an inconvenience for me to be there for a hair cut. Then she made some snotty comment about my hair color looking horrible because I used a box dye kit from Walgreens- like tens of thousands of other humans because $8 at Walgreens versus $50 at a salon is an easy choice. Then she asked if I cut my own hair, too. Wow, really? She was very aggressive with the electric clippers and was scraping the guard into my skin. I told her that it hurt a few times but she kept doing it, anyways. Then she cut weird bald spots above my ears. She asked if I wanted my ears and neck cleaned up, but I didn't know that meant shave it bald. I just wanted a hair cut because an undercut that is grown out looks very sloppy, not an aggressive hair cut by a snotty stuck up stylist who insults customers. I know this is supposed to be a "cheaper," place, but got my young son's haircut there. The stylist was a little curt, but whatever it's fine with kids as they're trying to do a job. But when we got home, there were strands of hair that clearly weren't cut. Like 2-3 hairs per side that were several inches longer. It was just an overall lazy, disinterested, uncaring haircut in my opinion. Normally wouldn't care about the time either, but it was done in like 5 minutes with little to no care. For $17 + tip, expected more. Also, I was under the impression from the website that "all cuts include a shampoo," but this wasn't even offered. It's fine, but why advertise it then. Didn't rate them 1 star because at least they take walk-ins. read more

I have been here a few times and have had nothing but great experiences. I have had my hair cut both by Elena and Michael and have had great experiences with both. I love that you can make an appointment and get great service and quality at a budget friendly price. Elena is great at listening to what you are wanting and bringing the idea to life. She cut about 3-4 inches off of my hair when I was wanting a blunt cut and she did not disappoint. Michael is very good with the scissors and makes sure to take his time to get it right. He worked on my hair for quite awhile to make sure it was the texture that I wanted and to ensure that it was even. I decided to try out fantastic sams and I don't regret it one bit! I'm very picky about who touches my hair, but after reading their reviews I thought why not. I got a trim and balayage done by Bona and I loved it! (She actually fixed what Chloe from Mario Triccoci in oak brook messed up!) Bona did a great job cutting my hair without taking so much length off and her suggestions where very useful. Desperate for a hair cut, I quickly turned to Yelp for assistance. It was a Sunday around 2PM when I decided to cut off all my hair and try this new undercut pixie look. Without doing much research on Fantastic Sams and calling a few locations in Forest Park, Berwyn, and Cicero, I decided on Sams. The receptionist told me I would have to wait 20-25 minutes for the next available appointment who happened to be Shay. As I waited, the receptionist offered me water or tea. Before settling on tea, I saw that they had Guinness beer in their mini fridge, so I asked for a beer. *ahh. The way that made me feel comfortable.* I meet Shay and the first thing I noticed was her blonde messy hair. It was kind of pulled back into this "whatever look." I didn't know what to expect of her professional work.. Shay greeted with a warm smile and asked me what I wanted. We talked about the versatility of a pixie cut and how I could style it for different occasions. Good, because I am one of those people who needs help deciding on which way to part my hair and what products to use AND ETC. Shay used the buzzer to cut my hair a 4 and kept the top fairly short. Before she began cutting, Shay showed me how much she wanted to cut and asked me if that was acceptable. I felt calm and comfortable with her suggestions. She was able to cut my asymmetrical bob into the pixie I wanted. My bob already had a lot of layers in it so she didn't need to recreate layers to give off a voluminous look. When styling, she asked Karla (the stylist who everyone goes to) for feedback. Karla recommend that she use pomade on my hair and hairspray clay that would give off a matte look. I'm not a big fan of a matte look; I prefer shiny hair and sometimes that wet look men carry after a fresh cut but to my surprise this is how it turned out: I LOVE IT. Good job Shay! I definitely recommend Shay for a haircut. She didn't push any hair products on me or did she want me to schedule a future appointment with her. Shay has that mellow yet excitable attitude when it comes to cutting, especially if the hair cut you want is dramatic. I will say she is personable so If are dropping in last-minute, be open-minded to what Shay shares with you. I definitely will be going shorter the next time I visit. read more

My husband went in for a trim and the lady who was cutting his hair (who we're not mad at, everyone makes mistakes), accidentally sliced his neck. She was very sweet and apologetic, so I appreciate that. But after this kind of situation, I expect the haircut to be free. They were only able to discount $1. So $17, instead of $18. This review is just for Karla (not the salon or other hair stylists) Long story short: I had gone here in June and got my hair cut by a hairstylist who did a horrible job and was also rather rude. Kevin, the manager, gave me a free haircut with Karla. When I went back, Karla went out of her hair to give me an extra special treatment and fix the mess my cut was. She blow dried and straightened it before cutting it, so she can see the previous errors and fix them appropriately. Valbona was my stylist and she is just the cutest. She was very nice and she made sure she knew exactly what I wanted for my hair. The whole process including color, cut and style took about 3.5 hrs but it was worth it and I'm very happy with how it turned out!
